Great location, relaxed value for money. Very nice, attentive staff. There is a lot of smiling, which is rare these days.

Today the four of us went to Alex again and we realized that the price and performance at the breakfast buffet were no longer right. Sausage and cheese offering nothing special, hardly tasty salads, a little more variety and selection would be desirable. Fruit salad, canned beetroot, etc. Not exactly sustainable and healthy. The location is generally a bit old.

It's a cool place with great cocktails. The staff always tries to offer you a table, even if it's only for 1.5 hours. Top.

The food was quite good, only the rolls were probably a bit old. The waitress was very friendly and, even though they were full, spontaneously freed up 5 seats for us and rescheduled everything. We had the breakfast buffet for 15€ which is really a good price, and the selection was sufficient. We'll be back (and then with a reservation).

Although we asked for a window seat in the reservation email and several tables by the window were free, we were not allowed to sit there. The waiters seemed extremely stressed. After receiving the cards, they arrived every minute after (what felt like) 30 seconds 3 different waiters to take the order. Extremely loud acoustics. Food was great, but unfortunately the rest wasn't.

I started a mini-job at ALEX Leipzig about 1 ½ years ago and am glad I quit as quickly as possible. At that time I was just 18 and wanted to improve my financial situation. After I asked for a job, everything happened very quickly and I was hired a few weeks later. I understand that it can be stressful, especially on weekends and holidays. However, this in no way justifies the lack of empathy and deceitful behavior among colleagues. Many things were not discussed with me, such as the exact working hours or my tasks. More time should be spent on thorough training so that new employees better understand their tasks. If this is not possible, you should think about something else, but barely training new employees and almost “disgusting them away” is unacceptable. I never really felt welcome and often heard gossip from my colleagues. After a few days of work, it was clear to me that I wanted to quit as quickly as possible. When I handed in my resignation and work uniform, all I was told was how inappropriate my behavior was. In fact, a colleague intercepted me on the way out and told me that I had done everything right and that he was also thinking about quitting. In summary, I would like to emphasize that I definitely do not recommend the ALEX Lokal in Leipzig as an employer.

We decided to go there in the evening after we arrived. The food was very good, freshly prepared and tasty. Our service person was also very attentive and advised my wife on what to eat after the “dish meal” was no longer available. I would love to be back in Leipzig

At Alex there is something to eat for every taste and it is extremely tasty. It is a relaxed and informal atmosphere, which the staff also contributes to. You are served casually but competently and you don't have to wait long for what you order. Only the walk to the toilet is quite far. You shouldn't wait until the last second otherwise...

Another hospitality that we discovered in Leipzig that we really liked. We were still hungry after visiting the variety show and tried to eat the delicious sausage salad again in the Augustinum. Unfortunately, the kitchen there closed at 10 p.m. but and that's no longer normal, the cheeky waiter with the eye-catching earring and the knickerbockers pointed in the direction of the Old Town Hall and advised us to go to Alex, as the kitchen was far from closing time there. Despite a certain amount of skepticism (because the woman was hungry), we followed the advice and were absolutely thrilled. There was still the entire menu, I only took a bruschetta (perfect), my wife a Buddha?Bowl - and even though it was quite late (11:30 p.m.) there were highly motivated and friendly waiters and everything was clean and tidy. Any time.

There were three of us eating there and the table was reserved two weeks in advance. There's nothing to complain about in terms of service, everything went great and two changes to the food weren't a problem. As for the food itself, the starters were beautifully presented and you can't complain about the taste either. As main courses we had the two steaks (ordered medium and got ideal medium) and the Currywurst Deluxe, all three dishes were sumptuous and really tasty. Only the prices were quite steep, but you probably pay for the location.

I invited my parents here and it was our first visit to Alex. We were very positively surprised. The staff was very very friendly. There is a very large selection of food at lunchtime. The quality of the dishes was great. Everything we had was very tasty including the drinks and dessert. It is definitely recommended to pre-order. I'll definitely come back when I'm in the area. 👍🏼

Die Limo & der Eistee schmecken sehr gut! Frische Zutaten und angenehme Kombinationen. Der BERNSTEINKÄSE KÜRBISRÖSTI BURGER ist im Großen und ganzen ein gelungener Burger mit einer sehr Guten Kombination an Zutaten. Lediglich das Prime Beef, womit geworben wird schmeckt leider mehr wie ein Weizen Vegan Patty als nach richtigen Prime Beef. Der CHICKEN HUMMUS BURGER ist im Gegensatz dazu eine reine Katastrophe, schmeckt wie ein schlechter Salat zwischen 2 Brötchen. In meinem Fall war das Hähnchen Filet auf dem Burger eiskalt, als ob es schon 30 Minuten vorher da lag. Die Pommes sind Standard Pommes aus dem Großhandel, schmecken aber in Ordnung. Angenehmes Ambiente ist vorhanden. Der Kellner war zwar sehr freundlich, sollte aber daran üben vielleicht ein wenig lauter zu reden und nicht alles zu nuscheln das man mehrmals nachfragen muss.

After an initial unfriendly greeting and seating, our waiter really did a great job. He was friendly, there when the glasses were empty and very careful. As always, the food was delicious and despite the large group, everyone got their food at the same time. I'd love to come back.

I have never eaten such a bad salad, drowned in dressing with cold fried mushrooms, anywhere. A “I’m sorry” was the response from the waitress. One point is still too many

We have often been to Alex for breakfast and today for brunch. It is always very busy and you should definitely reserve online. There are many hot and cold dishes. The salmon, the warm pretzels, the baked gnocchi, the pancakes and the dessert in a glass were particularly good. The coffee (not included in the price) also tasted very good. However, we missed warm vegetables and jams. Overall we were very satisfied and would like to come back.

I always enjoy being here. Great location, value for money for the food was very good.

During the shopping trip I looked for and found a nice restaurant. Plenty of seating outside or inside the restaurant. The menu offers a variety of dishes.

It wasn't really crowded. Nevertheless, there were long waiting times and people were overlooked for a while. What I found very disappointing was that the ice cream specialties didn't have real cream on them, but rather spray cream. The specially made lemonade was quite ok. The food was mediocre. I heard so many good things about Alex, but found that the quality was a bit worse when we visited.

We were there for breakfast. Standard and convenience products, nothing special, supermarket quality in my opinion. The clearing of the buffet began shortly before 12 p.m. even though it was advertised until 12 p.m. The waitress with the longer blonde hair pulled it out: warm, direct, friendly and very helpful, chapeau!

My visit to ALEX Restaurant in Leipzig was a pleasant experience, and the chicken teriyaki I ordered pleasantly surprised me. Instead of the usual rice side dish, the dish was served with crispy sweet potato fries, which was an exciting and modern twist. The combination of the tender chicken pieces and the spicy teriyaki sauce harmonized perfectly with the slightly sweet fries. The sweet potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside - a great contrast to the strong sauce. Visually, the dish was also a highlight: the fresh herbs, sesame seeds and lime gave the whole thing a fresh, lively look that whetted the appetite. The light sauce over the fries added an extra creaminess without overpowering the dish. The ALEX also impresses with its relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, making it a pleasant place to spend time with friends or family. Although the restaurant can get a bit noisy at peak times, the quality of the food definitely made up for it. All in all, it was a creative and delicious twist on the classic chicken teriyaki that I thoroughly enjoyed. I can only recommend the ALEX Restaurant in Leipzig and will definitely come back!

Chicken salad is a joke. I'm sorry. I rarely write anything but this was ridiculous

Today we were at Alex in Leipzig. We were four people who had different tastes. Unfortunately, they were served differently “well”. One of our group had the schnitzel with mushrooms and fries. Unfortunately, she became very sick in the restaurant and vomited several times afterwards. She was embarrassed so she didn't tell the waitress. We all noticed that the restaurant was getting old. In many places it appears dirty and unkempt. It's a shame...such a "beautiful" location in the heart of Leipzig city center. We won't eat here again or anything like that...and we can't recommend the restaurant to anyone else. Take a look at the pictures we took and make your own decision.

War am frühen Nachmittag dort und habe draußen auf der Balustrade gesessen. Leider war es an diesem Tag extrem windig, dafür gab es eine schöne Aussicht. Lokal war sehr voll, aber Bedienung und Essen gab es trotzdem zügig. Essen und Getränk war geschmacklich beides völlig in Ordnung, preislich etwas zu hoch.

We actually wanted to visit another restaurant at the beginning of our visit to Leipzig, but it no longer exists. And: we looked for a great alternative :-) Food was very good, staff was very friendly, even though it was really busy. And since we're not on the run on vacation, a little bit of waiting was okay for us. We'll be back next time we visit Leipzig - thanks for two very nice afternoons :-) Update: were here again in 2024 and everything still tastes as good as last year. Very well designed, you pay and eat as much as you can. A large selection of food and it's very tasty. For smaller children, it is half price, which is great.

We went to your restaurant for the breakfast buffet. The buffet and service are great. The selection and quality are simply outstanding. We were thrilled by the ambience. Unfortunately I also have two small points of criticism. Since we had a one-way journey of 200km, I called to reserve a table. Here I was told that the restaurant was fully booked but that the terrace would have seating when the weather was nice. So far so good, I clarified this with my companion and called again to reserve a place on the terrace. I was somewhat bluntly told on the phone that terrace seats would not be reserved. That's okay, but a little more friendliness on the phone would be desirable. We tried trd and were lucky that we were even able to get an inside seat. Here we come to the second point of criticism. The chairs inside are very wobbly, and other guests also noticed this. A quick repair would be desirable here as this is very annoying when eating. All in all it was a successful breakfast. Update 2 years later we ended up with you again. The buffet and service are still very good. I think it's a shame that the problem with the very wobbly chairs still hasn't been fixed. There would certainly have been enough time here in the 2 years, right?

A very nice restaurant. Especially the many outdoor spaces with parasols. The service staff were very attentive and nice. Unfortunately we didn't try any of the dishes, but from what we could see, everything looked very tasty. We only had a drink but the cocktails were very good.

We were there for Sunday brunch. A wide range of options, whether sweet or savory, something for everyone. Very courteous staff and the used dishes were cleared away very quickly. It's just a shame that coffee isn't included in the brunch. But we'd love to come back.

The two of us were in the Alex's outdoor restaurant on August 13, 2024. Great, friendly, attentive and courteous team. Keep it up. Thank you all. Gladly again. (Since we didn't eat anything, we can't say anything about the food)

Well located in the heart of Liepzig.

Large selection for a rich breakfast, hygiene is top, it is disinfected after each guest

We were there for a quick coffee and cake break. Coffee and cakes were delicious. But when we wanted to pay and leave, we had to wait for at least 20 minutes. All of the staff were busy and when we asked one of them, she said she is not responsible for the tables at our side. So we tried to find another non-busy employee. After we found one and asked for the bill, it took him 20 minutes to come to take payment. Long in short, if you are short on time, it might not be a good option.

I like being at Alex. There is something for everyone, it is clean, the staff is courteous and you don't have to wait long for your food. I'm also a fan of the breakfast buffet, although this has been increasingly reduced in recent years. The Alex is super solid, but doesn't have any big surprises. This is also reflected in the ambience of the restaurant. It's cozy and nice, but nothing special or modern. I think the staff is great. They are attentive and very child-friendly.

You have to be pretty undemanding to visit this inn. Already the unclean tables and smeared armchairs are not exactly inviting. The price-performance ratio is not at all consistent, especially when additives such as ketchup and mayonnaise are simply added to the bill for schnitzel dishes without informing you of the additional charges in advance. What's annoying is the flat rate of 2 euros tip, which is simply added to the bill. Pretty bold, in my opinion. Tipping should be left to the guest themselves. I advise every guest to work out in advance what they have to pay because, thank Greta, the bill is served paperless (you have to save paper). Simply dubious and has nothing to do with hospitality. In any case, I'm really annoyed about this visit today. 08/07/2024 - Additional review: As a result of my original review from July 30, 2024, the restaurant manager had a very positive, clarifying conversation. The service staff's misconduct was expressly disapproved and apologized for. The situation I have described is in no way part of common practice in this inn. The employee was held responsible with appropriate disciplinary consequences. During the conversation, I was clearly assured that the Alex Leipzig team's top priority every day is to provide good and satisfactory customer service with a good and attractive range of food and drinks. Corresponding contrary reviews also state this in the most recent one past proven. I assume this was a one-off offense by the service staff and accept the restaurant manager's sincere apology. In this context, I would like to thank you for the professional and satisfactory handling of my customer complaint. Best regards Frank Müller.

Food average, prices ok, service catastrophic, waiting time for drinks over 20 minutes, for food 30 minutes, with every reorder (drinks) another waiting time of 20 minutes... Service doesn't empty tables, leaves empty glasses, etc...

Bad food and bad service! The chicken bowl had 3 small pieces of fried chicken on it for just under €17. That's really a disgrace...Never again to Alex!

The breakfast was good, even if it was a bit lacking. The price is still quite reasonable. The location was great. Enjoy the sun or under a parasol. The service was a bit slow: it took more than fifteen minutes to bring 2 of the same cocktails (€8 each). There were wasps that continuously wanted to enjoy the drinks. There was also an occasional noise coming from the sewer across the square. That didn't help the atmosphere.

We were there on July 17th. spontaneously after a concert in Alex. One of the few restaurants where you can still get good food at night. The drinks came quicker than expected. The waiters were all friendly, even though it was very busy. In particular, the waiter with the tattoo on the back of his head enriched our evening with his friendly manner. 😊

Nice restaurant with a great ambience. Mixed audience and therefore very interesting. The service is very friendly, but not very practiced in usual service rules. Food for multiple people is delivered when it is ready and not together for all guests at the table. The Chicken Teryaki was very tasty, but didn't really taste like Chicken Teryaki. The Long Island Ice Tea also tasted good, but unfortunately not like a Long Island Ice Tea. All in all - it could be better.

We were there for breakfast. The food selection is far too small for the size of the store and almost everything was empty. Since we were sitting outside, we couldn't see when, for example, scrambled eggs and bacon were being refilled. So first eat a roll, go back in after 15 minutes, still (or again?) a lot of things aren't there. The tables are very close to the buffet that has been set up, so you have to push your way through the people sitting there. The tables outside are for 4 people, but so small that the two of us could barely fit our plates and drinks on them. The service was again very friendly and the coffee tasted good. Nevertheless: Dear Alex Leipzig, that wasn't convincing for over 15 euros, we won't be coming back. At least not for breakfast.

We went here in the evening for drinks and a small snack. The kitchen is open quite late so you can eat there late in the evening. The drinks arrived quickly and tasted good. Service was very friendly. The next morning we were there again for the breakfast buffet. The buffet has everything your heart desires. From scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, fried eggs, a selection of bread and rolls to various toppings, salads, puddings, etc., everything is available. If empty, it will be refilled quickly.

The service was friendly, but it didn't seem entirely sincere. The currywurst resembled a smoked sausage. I expected more meat structure.

Waited 15 minutes for service and another 20 minutes for the beer, which was then served incorrectly (pilsner instead of wheat). It's better to go somewhere else, you don't even want to imagine the waiting time for food.

No interest in the guests, we sat for three quarters of an hour and didn't ask if we wanted anything else. We were hugely disappointed.

Unfortunately not recommended. Finished schnitzel, raw fries, a touch of fresh mushrooms. Small salad inedible, drowned with balsamic vinegar. Schnitzel was also cold because it sat around for 10 minutes until a service employee picked it up. And that for 17 €. Empty plate was on the table for 15 minutes, no service present. We had to get up and find a waiter so we could pay. Sorry, but I won't eat there again. Canteen Fras. I can do that anywhere...

Hallo,wir waren 2023 schon einmal hier und wurden erstklassig bedient, heute haben wir ein anderes Bild kennen gelernt. Einen Tisch haben wir bekommen und wollten diesmal auch wieder das leckere Essen genießen, die Männliche Bedienung nahm unsere Getränke Bestellung auf weil wir uns noch nicht schlüssig waren was essen,4 Pers..Die Getränke wurden uns gebracht,aber nach einer dreiviertel Stunde fragte uns keiner von der Bedienung ob wir was zu essen bestellen möchte,wir wurden immer wieder ignoriert, nicht einmal Interesse ob wir noch was trinken möchten,trotz Lehrer Gläser,also haben wir bezahlt,ohne Trinkgeld zu geben und sind dann wo anders essen gegangen, wo wir aufmerksam bedient wurden.Weite empfehlen werde ich den Alex erst einmal nicht.

Unfortunately there is nothing special in this restaurant and there is no fresh food, just everything from the fridge. The only good thing is the location of the restaurant, which is halfway across the city.

The lady with the “Chaos” tattoo on the back of her head should definitely get some service training. I have rarely experienced something so unfriendly.

Ordered 2 beers - both glasses are not full

The ALEX is a very nice restaurant and the service is very friendly, lets you choose in peace and regularly checks on everything. But if the restaurant gets full, all hell will surely break loose, because the tables are packed close together, which is not necessarily a feel-good factor. The food tastes good, the menu is varied but not overloaded, but unfortunately the portions are far too small for the prices charged. If you order a burger and fries for €20, you should actually expect to be full, which unfortunately isn't the case. The drinks are highly recommended and reasonable in terms of their price-performance ratio. Overall, a good-average restaurant that you can visit, but given the great competition in Leipzig, you should also consider where you can get your fill at the cheapest price.

As a regular customer of the restaurant, we unfortunately repeatedly had bad experiences with the service Katja Görs. She wanted to send us back in when the weather was very nice, even though there were enough tables available outside for 4 people. Her colleagues wanted to offer us a table outside, but Ms. Görs loudly criticized her colleagues (Tommy & Co) for this. We will probably avoid the restaurant in the future. It's a shame, otherwise you can't complain about the good food. Maybe the boss will read this and investigate.

When we arrived, Ms. Görs received us extremely rudely. We were not taken seriously as customers. Her fellow waiters were very accommodating and polite. Maybe the company should think about Gör's personnel in the future - it worsens the restaurant's reputation.

This is the third city we've visited the Alex for the breakfast buffet, and as always, it's delicious food and a robust selection. A touch pricey (15,90) it's well worth the extra bucks to sit as long and eat as much as you like... and like i said, huge selection! Seating inside or outside, but a reservation (sometimes well in advance!) is a must. But that's easy to do on their website. So far we've been to Alex in Dresden, Berlin, and now Leipzig. Thumbs up.

Only one waitress serves on the large terrace. The service is very bad, the waitress inside in bar is very rude and unprofessional. I waited for half an hour to get a glass of water with coffee that had already cooled down when I finally got less than 1 dcl of water in the glass. Terrible experience!

Had a spontaneous meal there. There was enough space in the outdoor area at the time. The service staff came quickly, was friendly and everything went smoothly. The food was also okay. Since we only sat outside, I can't comment further on the ambience. Otherwise you can sit there in a relaxed manner between the “Old Town Hall” and “Alter Börse” on the “Naschmarkt”.

Please bring plenty of time! Unfortunately the service is a disaster! On a Sunday afternoon we waited forever for the tickets, then twice as long to drink and 3x longer to eat. The “waitress” seemed slightly overwhelmed, things went a little better after the late shift was replaced… p.s: the shop was only 1/4 full and there were enough staff (but without a system)
