I am writing to express my strong dissatisfaction with the way my reservation was handled by your restaurant ALEX Dresden am Schloss. The situation I experienced today was not only extremely inconvenient but also highly unprofessional. On Thursday, I called your restaurant twice to make a reservation. I spoke with a lady during the first call, and I dialed the number, which is publicly listed as the contact number for ALEX Dresden am Schloss. Despite this, when I arrived today, your staff told me that no reservation existed, and even suggested that I must have contacted a different location. This was both incorrect and dismissive. To verify, I went to the second ALEX location, where they confirmed that the number I had called definitely belongs to your restaurant. To remove any doubt, I called the same number again afterwards and clearly asked which restaurant I was speaking with. Once again, I was told it was ALEX Dresden am Schloss. This level of disorganization and lack of accountability is unacceptable for a restaurant of your brand. I wasted my time, was treated as if I had made a mistake, and received no assistance or solution on the spot. Given the circumstances, I expect at least a form of compensation, such as securing a table within the next hour or offering another reasonable gesture to make up for the inconvenience your mistake caused.

It was very busy; reservations are necessary for larger groups. The food was delicious. The staff was very friendly.

We had our annual Secret Santa gift exchange at Alex with some of our old school classmates (we're all 47/48 years old now). Despite the restaurant being full, the service was quick, friendly, and attentive. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Despite being in Dresden's city center, the prices were very fair for what was offered. Highly recommended for a cozy evening in the historic heart of Dresden.

The waiter didn't even manage to greet us when we entered – absolutely disrespectful. The food was served separately, so one of us had to start eating while the other just waited around like an idiot. What restaurant in the world does that happen? And then dessert arrived before the main course. It's just ridiculous, chaotic, and completely unprofessional 🤣🤷🏼‍♀️

For a Sunday evening, it was pretty quiet at 5:30 for this time of year, yet the two of us were seated at a reserved table for four. About an hour later, the first guests arrived, giving us piqued and almost accusatory looks when it turned out the table was reserved for seven and they had to be pushed together. The place was practically empty, so we could have sat somewhere else, but the staff seemed flustered and awkward. The schnitzel wasn't great. This was my first time visiting a restaurant in this chain, and I probably won't be going back anytime soon, as I had an allergic skin reaction to the Lillet & Peach. An email to the company informed me that they were aware of the drink's ingredients, but I'd be more interested in the ingredients list or the allergy information, or whatever it's called. All in all, it wasn't a pleasant experience.

We went there for brunch. As a vegan, you can find food (antipasti, salad, vegetables and fruit, dried fruit, rolls, etc.) and get full. What they offer is good, but the portions are still quite small. Unfortunately, there's also an extra charge for oat milk. The ambiance and service were very good.

Excellent restaurant with a large food and drink menu. The food is fresh, quick, and delicious. The service is friendly, attentive, and very fast. We were able to get a table even though we hadn't made a reservation. However, I would recommend making a reservation next time.

We visited Dresden two days ago, had the best experience ever. Blond woman waiter was so nice, and speaks english perfectly. As a tourists we had some trouble talking to people on our stay because people there speak very poorly.

Good food nice atmosphere and very friendly staff. We called the day before for a reservation but it appears you can also just show up. Good drinks with a wide variety if you are getting tired of beer.

Breakfast was my first and last time. The breakfast buffet for €15 was okay, nothing special, no drinks included, coffee for €5.30 and a small bottle of water for €4 – quite a hefty sum. The restrooms were below average.

Yesterday we went to Alex for coffee and cake. After finishing my latte macchiato, I discovered a dead bee in it. This can be very dangerous, especially for people with allergies. After I informed the waiter, he at least removed the drink from the bill. Generally, the staff were very friendly, and while the service was a bit chaotic, it was quick. I will avoid the place from now on and left with a very uneasy feeling, which is a shame since I've never had any negative experiences at Alex before.

We sat outside at a table for 25 minutes, and none of the waiters bothered to come out. Absolutely terrible service.

Probably the highest price McDonalds burger we have ever eaten. The cheeseburger had one razor thin slice of cheese and a very processed beef patty. The veg burger was a deep fried oily mush that was barely edible with no taste at all. Add to that $10.00 for about 10 chips this place is poor value. Just go to McDonald and save yourself a lot of money.

Central location in Dresden. Numerous, friendly staff. Good selection of food and drinks.

Full marks. Coming from the Ruhr area, we ate at Aneds here. The currywurst and burger were a culinary surprise. A truly wonderful, unique experience. Almost outrageously expensive, the owner is very lenient, but they are open late. I would only come back when other restaurants in the area have already closed.

It was a good place to eat. The only downside was that around 4:30 pm the "Reserved" signs for 6:00 pm had already been put up.

Alex is a truly lovely place. Whether it's for a girls' brunch or a late-night dinner after an opera visit, we love coming here and always feel at home. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. You can't tell they're stressed, and they always remain confident. The a la carte food is very tasty, and there's a good selection of vegetarian options. The steak was excellent and cooked exactly as requested. While brunch doesn't include drinks, it does offer a good selection of food. The cocktails are equally excellent.

Hey. The food was as you'd expect from ALEX (good). I particularly liked the service here that day. I'd describe it as funny and bubbly! I'm deducting points for the ambiance because two LED ceiling spotlights were broken and flickered so much that it was a bit distracting.

My wife and I were here with our 17-year-old son for the Monarchs' final game against Potsdam because we had some time before the game and were a bit hungry. The service was very friendly and quick. The food and drinks were good. Only the Red Velvet cake was so extremely sweet that it was barely edible. The restaurant was almost completely full, and accordingly, it was loud. The relatively small, round tables were very close together. Cozy is something else entirely.

On our weekend trip to Dresden, we strolled past Alex last night and were already very impressed. So it was all the better that we spontaneously got two seats today, Saturday evening. We opted for the Fresh Falafel Bowl and an Ugli Butcher's Burger. Both were incredibly delicious and beautifully presented. The service was super friendly and prompt. I had a tomato soup, which tasted good, but was already quite cold by the time it arrived. However, since I had an appetizer as my main course, I can imagine that the main courses (which were tasty) took longer to arrive, and they all had to be brought to the table at the same time, which probably caused the soup to get cold. The food was beautifully presented. However, the service was not great. We were simply shown to a table, which we then had to push together ourselves, and the waiters seemed very disinterested. When we wanted to order dessert, we felt like we had to shout to get attention. It should be added that at least one waitress clearly ignored us, and we were still friendly. A friend of mine had a small (!) special request for dessert, and the waitress then asked in a totally rude manner, "Why don't you just have dessert?" The atmosphere was okay, but nothing special. There was a large selection of dishes, including vegan options. It's just a shame how inattentive the service was...

This is a place I wouldn't go back to. The waitress wasn't very friendly. My burger was delicious, but they didn't add any cheese, and I think the prices are too high. It's very noisy, so the atmosphere wasn't great. It's an acquired taste.

The food there is always excellent. Whether it's for brunch or a breakfast buffet, or if you just want to enjoy a leisurely meal, the service could sometimes be a bit better; once you've ordered and the food arrives, no one comes around to take any new orders. Despite everything, I would definitely go back for dinner.

I have been to this Alex location many times. For a city with a lot of restaurants, Dresden does not have too many late-night food options. This is why I am always glad there is Alex. They have a variety of food and I have found everything I have tried there to be great. One time, I was in a hurry and everything else nearby was closing even though it was only 17:30. I wanted to get something from an Imbiss, but because they were all closed, I went to Alex. I informed them I only had a short time to finish my meal. They recommended menu items that could be served quickly and ensured I had paid my bill to leave on time for my event, which I easily made it to on time after having my dinner. Service is always professional and the atmosphere is contemporary yet cozy.

We spent a wonderful evening at Alex. The menu is very extensive and varied. We received very friendly service from the attentive staff. The prices were also very reasonable. You should definitely reserve a table, as the restaurant gets very busy. We would be happy to return and would happily recommend the restaurant.

It was delicious, but the waiter demanded a €2.90 tip without asking if I wanted to leave one. (I paid by card and couldn't see the amount entered into the debit card.)

Today, my family and I decided to have dinner at Café Alex. We had high hopes for this café, but it was a huge disappointment. We wanted to eat meat, fish, and chicken. Our order arrived: I had ordered medium-rare meat, but it was cooked like the sole of a soldier's boot. The salad was sandy, and the potatoes served with the meat tasted more boiled than baked. The salmon salad wasn't tasty. The advertised potato and parsnip chips were old and practically inedible. We were offered a replacement, but the fish and chips were also a disappointment, as the fish fingers were obviously store-bought. Overall, much of the food seemed to be made from cheap, ready-made products. We asked for the chili to be omitted from the chicken dish, but it was still in there. The potatoes were also ready-made from the supermarket. It would have been much easier for us to buy the ingredients ourselves and cook them at home—and it would certainly have tasted better. That was the first and last time I visited this café. (I think even a school cafeteria could have served better and cheaper food.)

Arrogant and unfriendly service. We felt like supplicants instead of paying guests. We'll never come here again.

Service was nice, even though we waited at least 15 minutes to order. Unfortunately, everything came separately. A cold drink, a coffee, and after about 10 minutes of waiting, we were told they didn't have mango with the waffle. We then ordered a waffle with a different topping. Unfortunately, the waffle wasn't as soft and warm as it was before.

Overall, it was rather below average. The "currywurst" turned out to be just a simple bockwurst, and the schnitzel seemed like frozen convenience food. The espresso martini was far too sweet and poorly prepared. One waiter also seemed very clumsy and didn't really seem to know what he was doing. The cakes tasted okay, but nothing special. Outside, seating is quite cramped, as the tables are very close together.

We visited Restaurant Alex with a large group of eight people and were thoroughly satisfied. Upon arrival, we received a friendly welcome and were quickly escorted to our table. Despite the size of the group, everything went smoothly. Our orders were taken promptly, the drinks arrived promptly, and the food arrived surprisingly quickly. The meal itself was delicious and beautifully presented. We were particularly pleased that all the dishes were served at the same time. This doesn't work so well in many restaurants, but it worked perfectly here. The sweet potato fries and the burger were also really good, and the dessert was a real highlight to round things off. The ambiance was cozy, modern, yet relaxed. With candlelight and a pleasant atmosphere, we could truly enjoy the evening. The service was consistently friendly, attentive, and always present, without being intrusive. All in all, a very successful evening. Highly recommended for both small groups and larger ones. We would be happy to come back!

Great service. They even served us in the rain. Not like the sugar soldiers at ALEX by the Frauenkirche.

We stopped here a couple of times for a drink inn the afternoon. The seats outside on the square have a good view. Service was pretty good both times we visited. we tried an unusual German gin that was Violet in colour.

Highly recommended: a hearty breakfast, a lovely ambiance, and very friendly staff. It's a great start to the day.

If you like good German food, this is not the right place for you.

It was a nice place to sit outside, and we were happy. The service was friendly, and the drinks and food were delicious.

We had breakfast there, and the selection left nothing to be desired. The only drawback: the drinks at breakfast are very expensive. They could make them a bit cheaper.

There isn't a huge amount of space at and on the table (we were there for breakfast), but the service is outstanding and the selection is top-notch!

The square is also a pleasant spot. Since it was raining, we had to sit inside. It was a bit cramped, but not too uncomfortable. We chose it for brunch and enjoyed it. First of all, it's a pet-friendly place. That made us very happy.

Everything was actually great until the bill arrived. Items were listed that we didn't get. A non-alcoholic drink that was supposed to cost around €6 according to the menu suddenly became more than twice as expensive. We only asked for a shot of gin (2cl) to make it alcoholic and whether that was possible. After paying and asking for clarification, nothing was explained. We were fobbed off with the words: "It's just the way it is." After I received a response here asking me to write an email, which I did immediately, nothing happened. No response, nothing at all. Now I've updated my review. No customer service, very disappointing!

The food is okay, burger was good but i would not recommend the schnitzel. The cocktails are nice. The staff is not helpfull at all. I had a question in english which he sadly could not understand, which is okay, but then he just walked away.

The service was way too chaotic. We tried ordering three times, every time with a different waiter. From pluses we got to order matcha latte to the special offer with the cakes upon additional payment, from minuses tho matcha latte lacked the matcha in it, it tasted like pure milk, even the colour was barely pale green like a sick victorian child. The cakes were ok, very sweet, but nice portions. In the end we waited very long just to pay, even tho the server that took our order was constantly around our table but wouldn’t come (even when she took our plates). We waited something around 15 minutes. Just to pay. And then the waitress asked us twice for a tip which I think is sans-classe after such a service. Might I add she kept speaking german to us knowing we don’t understand it, after we declined to pay the tip her tone changed negatively.

The best thing is the breadth of the menu: you can start with something savory, move on to sweets like waffles or pastries, and finish with a good cup of coffee. The place is truly spacious and modern. I think it's ideal for a trip as a couple, with friends, or even as a family. The staff is very friendly and attentive, making sure we were comfortable. You are charged for coffee and other drinks not listed on the menu; only orange juice by the glass is included.

Delicious salad at Alex – with brown edges. The kitchen certainly didn't see it during preparation. Please scrape the dressing off the salad before eating to check it, otherwise you won't even get your money back.

Six of us were there, including a child in a wheelchair. We waited over 15 minutes, even though it wasn't busy at all on a Thursday afternoon. Then we politely pointed out to the waiter that we'd like to order, only to be told that the table had to be cleared first. It was the only table my son could fit in his electric wheelchair, so we chose that table, even though it still had used dishes from the previous guest on it. Then we waited another 10 minutes before we could finally order. Two of the items we ordered were wrong, which we had to wait for again, and the straw for my son (which we specifically asked for) was also forgotten, as he can't lift a glass. When we were finished and wanted to pay, we waited forever again. The cake and coffee were perfectly fine, but very expensive. The service suddenly became friendly towards the end. Definitely not suitable for special children or people in wheelchairs, or those who don't have much time. We won't be coming back.

Aperol Spritz tastes like water with red coloring here - even a free one is still too expensive. After "complaining," however, I was brought an "improved" version - which is fine, although it still tasted more like water than anything else.
