Akropolis Grill in Essen

Ate here for the first time today. The portions were very generous and the prices were perfectly reasonable. Everything was freshly prepared and very tasty. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. A definite recommendation! We'll definitely be back.

All in all, you get really good food here. Unfortunately, the price has shot up to a level that's comparable to a restaurant, but it's still a snack bar.... Given the price, I'd rather go to a flawless Greek restaurant in Überruhr.

I have no idea what expectations most of the reviewers here have, but we're now cured. Since Nikki left, the quality has declined rapidly. We've tried it a few times, but since the last order, we've been served. Completely overcooked, flavorless rice, unseasoned, dry meat. The one star is for the fries. Period.

Akropolis in Überruhr is a real insider tip! Everything we ordered – souvlaki, pita, gyros, skepasti – was incredibly delicious. The portions were generous, everything fresh, and perfectly seasoned. The delivery service was also top-notch: fast, friendly, and very reliable. The food arrived hot and exactly as we ordered. Highly recommended – I'll definitely order again!

In our case, we ordered in-store. So, no judgment on the service or ambiance. The Acropolis plate and the Taxi plate were delivered after 30 minutes, which was perfectly reasonable in terms of timing. Both were very tasty, and the meat was simply amazing. The fries were still crispy even after they cooled down (I took care of the meat first). Conclusion: Yes, prices have gone up, but who makes four different meat dishes for dinner? And I think €16 per person for the quality and taste is perfectly acceptable. Clearly recommended!

Unfriendly staff. Maybe we shouldn't have ordered pizza from the Greek restaurant, because it was completely unacceptable. The garlic came from an unrefrigerated tube and was pressed onto the pizza in several beige worms.

No, I wouldn't recommend it. I placed my order and was then ignored, other orders were given priority, and after 20 minutes I was asked again what I was getting and then I forgot about it. I left the store and won't be back.

After taking over the business, the quality dropped significantly. The fries were crispy, but extremely oversalted, and the gyros were very thickly sliced ​​with chunks of fat. A mini side salad for 7.50!!! extra. Unfortunately that was it for us.

I've ordered there a few times now and had them delivered. One of the few who manages to deliver crispy fries to the customer. The rest is really delicious too!

Staff very unsympathetic and incompetent. For the drinks we ordered on site we received smelly and unpolished glasses. The food was disgusting: the fries were rock hard and the meat was burnt. The tables in the restaurant are not washed after each guest, so they are often sticky.

We are very happy with the food. The quality of the meat is very good! The food was delivered to our home. We ordered souvlaki and gyros, among other things.

We waited in vain for our food for 2.5 hours and couldn't reach anyone by phone. Once and never again!

We ordered there, so I can't comment on the ambience. The food was very, very tasty, BUT we waited over 2 hours for delivery. After 1.5 hours we called and all they said was that the food was coming soon and laughed. Unfortunately the lady seemed a bit unprofessional. The prices are also very high. It's just not worth it. If at all, we would order something there to pick up in the future.

I can't rate the ambience. But I order there more often. And so far the food has always impressed me! It arrives hot and delicious. Even the fries come crispy, which unfortunately you can't always expect from many other delivery services. Delivery time, at least for me, is a maximum of an hour. Sometimes even a little less.

We wanted to eat Greek for girls' night today. My friends wanted to pre-order the food by phone and then pick it up. Since I didn't have a map (and therefore prices), I told my friends about my order. Saganaki, falafel and a small farmer's salad. My friends had bifteki and pork loin with hollandaise sauce and fries. The saganaki was very tasty, my friends' dishes were also ok, but the fries were quite dark. The falafel were also in the deep fryer for too long, quite dry and didn't really taste that tasty. The crowning glory, however, was the "small Greek-style farmer's salad" - small was the name of the game here! Basically I would have found the size of the salad ok, but NOT for €7.50!! The contents of the potty were probably... 2.5 tbsp salad with fairly large pieces. I find that absolutely outrageous!

Still 5 stars in terms of food. However, the previous owner really drove up the prices twice within a short period of time. The offers on the weekly menu are now significantly higher than the regular prices. We used to be regular customers and visited or picked up our order several times a month. In the meantime we are thinking three times about going to the Acropolis. As I said, the food is completely fine, but the significant price increases put us off so much that we go there maybe once a month. A really big drawback: no delivery service!!! There used to be.

Hunter sauce works like this. Sauce not fresh. Mushrooms apparently canned. Gyros dry, probably on the skewer for too long. Price doesn't match the quality. There was a change of ownership. I think this means that the golden plate of My Local, Your Local is no longer valid. The prices for a snack are exorbitantly high. For me the location is over.

We ordered via the delivery service. The delivery came on time, everything was warm and it was soooo delicious! The driver was super friendly and we will definitely order more often. Top!!!!!!!!!!

Under new management since March 1st, 2024 and under a new name: “Acropolis Tavern near Nico” The place hasn't changed the facility has remained. The menu has been rearranged, but still contains the old dishes (Attention pizza: #11 has been omitted, From then on all pizzas have one at 1 smaller number). The quality is still good. The salad display is extensive, the individual ingredients look fresh. If you are looking for delicious food in Essen, you will find it here. Why I only give 3 stars: Prices have been increased because of Corona and Ukraine. Then another “adjustment” was made in between. With the change of management the prices increased some dishes (not all; through the new ones Positions on the map not immediately visible) significantly increased again. Guys, don't overdo it! I have the inestimable advantage of yours Location that you have no competition. Don't annoy your customers with ridiculous prices. I'm now thinking about whether I can still stay with you my usual frequency:-(

19€ for a gyros plate and 2 small ouzo. I don't pay that in a restaurant

Went there by chance to have something to eat. The gyros and gyros pita were very tasty and the portions were plentiful. The price-performance ratio is great! I can only recommend it 😊

4,90€ für eine kleine Pizza Margarita .Wir hatten telefonisch vorbestellt allerdings ne mittlere. War geschockt als ich in dem Karton sah. Die Pizza vom Durchmesser wie der Durchmesser einer Suppentasse. Niemals waren das 22cm. Sind seit 2014 Kunden und immer mal wieder dort bestellt oder abgeholt. Aber das war einmal leider.

Für einen Imbiss viel zu überteuert und leider auch kleine Portionen. Hungrig sollte keiner nach Hause gehen. Wir haben wohlgemerkt 38 Euro dort gelassen. Pommes & Majo so mickrig in einer Salatschale serviert. Unglaublich geht garnicht !!!! Ich komme nicht wieder.

Meine Familie kennt diesen Imbiss seit Jahrzehnten, wir haben früher oft und gerne dort bestellt. Nachdem ich aufgrund von Unhöflichkeit (den Senior und seine Frau halte ich hierbei außen vor) zum Überruhr Grill gewechselt bin, wollte ich heute nach langer Zeit doch mal wieder am alten Stammgrill das Essen besorgen. Wäre ich mal besser direkt nach Hinsel gefahren. Ich wartete etwa 40 Minuten, und fragte dann nach, wie lange es noch dauern würde. Die Tochter des Senior-Chefs meinte daraufhin im patzigen Ton zu mir, dass ich doch sehen würde, dass viel los ist, und es immer dasselbe wäre mit mir. Bitte was?? Leute, so etwas ist mir echt noch nicht passiert, und ich wollte daraufhin auch direkt gehen. Ihre Mutter erklärte mir, dass die Tochter hochschwanger ist, und daher viel Stress hat. Vom Seniorchef erfuhr ich, dass es dort wohl nur noch über Vorbestellung läuft. Okay, wusste ich ja nicht, hätte man mir aber auch vorab mitteilen können, anstatt mich ohne Limit warten zu lassen. Der Senior entschuldigte sich und ich bekam als nächstes auch das bestellte Essen, eine Portion Gyros, einen Gyrosteller und einen kleinen Bauernsalat. Nur aufgrund der Entschuldigung bin ich letztendlich geblieben. Von der Tochter keinerlei(!) Einsicht, ganz im Gegenteil. Sie hätte mich am liebsten nicht weiter bedient. Fazit: Es war der letzte Besuch dort für mich, ich kann diesen Imbiss leider nicht mehr weiterempfehlen.

Sehr leckeres Gyros: außen knusprig und innen saftig mit wenig Fett. Dazu Pommes und Zaziki + Zwiebeln. Mein Gericht war absolut i.O. und ein netter Service dazu. Tipp: nicht so spät eintreffen ,denn das Gyros geht recht zügig weg.

Mit kurzen Worten gesagt es ist einfach super da und das Essen ist auch sehr lecker und die Bedienung einfach spitze mann fühlt sich richtig voll

Zum ersten mal dort gewesen. Nettes Personal. Tolles Ambiente. Es gab ne schnelle Currywurst Pommes. Kommen bestimmt nochmal wieder.

Das essen ist sehr gut, genau so wie der Service. Die Inneneinrichtung ist etwas nüchtern gestaltet, aber für einen Imbiss doch OK. Wenn das Wetter mitspielt, kann man auch draußen sitzen. Preis/Leistung stimmt.

Wir gehen seit ein paar Monaten mit unserer angeltruppe dort essen und fühlen uns dort sehr wohl, das Essen ist lecker, die Portionen sind gut, und das Personal ist sehr nett. Vor der Tür ist auch meistens Platz zum parken.

Freundliches Personal, Preis ist in Ordnung für die Größe des Gerichts. Zum Essen (Gyrosteller mir Salat im Angebot.) : Frisch, sehr lecker und alle mal satt war ich auch. Schnellrestaurant welches ich gerne weiterempfehle.

Grosse Portionen, auch das Fleisch hat gute Qualität, obwohl die Preise im unteren Bereich sich bewegen.

Ich habe mir gerade Spaghetti Bolognese mit überbackenem Käse bestellt.Ich muss sagen für den Preis ist es ok, aber auf jedenfalls sehr sehr lecker,viel Käse,leckere Spaghetti und sehr empfehlenswert!

Ich wurde rein gelegt!!! Wir haben um 1.5kg gyros gebeten und haben dafür bezahlt aber haben nur 900 gramm bekommen es war lecker aber 40€ für 900 gramm ??? Bin sehr enttäuscht komme nie wieder zurück!!!! Ich empfehle aufzupassen.

Freundliches Personal, leckeres Essen.

Das Essen ist dort sehr lecker, dennoch muss ich 2 Sterne abziehen da es sehr oft vorkommt das Gyros ausverkauft ist und das darf in einem Griechischen Imbiss einfach nicht passieren.

Die Metaxasauce ist der Wahnsinn. Pommes sehr lecker und knusprig, das Gyros war auch lecker. Portionen sind in Ordnung. Sehr freundliche Mitarbeiter und Besitzer, alles recht familiär. So fühlt man sich dort dann auch. Bei den Parkplätzen muss man Glück haben oder halt einen kleinen Spaziergang machen - ist oft besonders abends alles belegt. Toiletten sauber. Inneneinrichtung modern. Eventuell einen Tick zu hell. Erinnert dann vom Licht mehr an Kantine. Leider bloß Speisenkarte auf Papier zum mitnehmen. Also steht man dort und blättert mit anderen in einer kleinen Broschüre.

Costas und seine Frau arbeiten sehr hart Tag für Tag und es ist egal was man bestellt, es ist alles unfassbar lecker und grosse Portionen!

Sehr nette Bedienung und das Essen wie immer einfach nur köstlich, man fühlt sich sofort zurück versetzt in unseren Griechenland Urlaub er einfach traumhaft immer war.

Pommes Currywurst Mayo, 7 Euro, blau-warm. Bisher war es immer lecker und Preis-Leistung passte. Preise wurden wohl auch erheblich angepasst.

Ich habe heute über 3 Stunden auf mein Essen warten müssen. Für mich nicht verständlich und unakzeptabel. Wir werden nicht mehr bei dieser Pommes Bude bestellen. Kein Stern verdient.

Sehr unfreundlich wir hatten bei der ersten Bestellung eine Aufmerksamkeit bekommen das der tzaziki extra bestellt werden muss nach Monaten haben wir dann nochmals bestellt, natürlich mit extra Portionen tzaziki, kam natürlich nicht so an wie bestellt und nach Anfrage wurde ich angebrüllt und ich hätte die bestellung so aufgegeben. Schade habe mir besseres erhofft nach der ersten Niederlage
