Food arrived cold, it wasn't normal shawarma meat (chicken breast cut by hand), falafel was hard as a stone, everything was fried and greasy

The atmosphere is nice but the food doesn’t taste authentic at all! It’s not the worst but it could be much better. The shawarma came cold and we had to ask for it to be reheated. The tea was good.

The Akams is located in an industrial district of Heidelberg, not far from the main train station. The first impression of this Arabic restaurant was absolutely great: very nice design, super clean and tidy, from the counter to the toilet. The arrangement of the food at the counter immediately whetted our appetite for delicious Arabic specialties. Even though there were a few customers in line ahead of me, I got there quickly and my fresh shawarma was handed out to me quickly. Unfortunately it wasn't quite my taste, probably because I'm used to a different way of preparing it. Therefore a point deduction. Nevertheless, I will go back and try other dishes - I couldn't decide what to order from all the good looking delicacies. It's definitely worth trying out, I've heard it's the best Arabic restaurant in Heidelberg... :)

Hidden but delicious shawarma Akams in Heidelberg is a true hidden gem for shawarma and falafel. The restaurant is modern and stylishly decorated, with an open kitchen that makes the ambience even more pleasant. The selection of dishes is large and the price-performance ratio is absolutely harmonious. Everything tastes fresh, well seasoned and is perfectly balanced. I chose the Akams special plate, and I was not disappointed. The chicken was tender, juicy and excellently seasoned. The homemade creams that went with it were simply delicious and rounded off the dish perfectly. Overall, I can only praise the food, service and value for money. It was a very tasty dinner and I will definitely come back.

I ordered Shawarma with Basmati Reis, and it's a big portion of serving. Their Wrap foods are Bestsellers. A haven for vegan and Vegetarian lovers. Self-service and clean. Highly Recommended. Its only 15 min walk from Heidelberg Train station.

A culinary delight all around. We had the vegetarian special plate. Overall, very pleasant atmosphere: Pleasant and friendly service, aesthetic furnishings, a large selection of dishes (including many vegetarian and vegan dishes) and also more than run-of-the-mill drinks (Ayran, Fritz Limos, homemade mint tea, club, mate, and much more)! Food is prepared freshly and hygienically, a lot of it is home-made, lots of fresh vegetables, very nicely and skilfully arranged on the plates. Great value for money! And, last but not least: it tastes excellent and is very filling - also on an energetic level (speaks for the good quality of the ingredients). A feast for all senses! The stars are absolutely deserved and I'm already looking forward to the next time! Thanks!

The food is amazing! Everything was super tasty, freshly prepared. The only drawback is that you have to get your own dish from the counter. Ordering is ok, bringing it to the table would be great since you don't know which one is yours. :)

Schwarma Wrap was very tasty in terms of taste, but very plain and without much depth and had no taste peaks. In my opinion, it was very similar to the wraps in the supermarket. There is definitely no music in the restaurant. All in all it seems a little cold.

1) the food is absolutely brilliant. Great quality, everything fresh and delicious. Best falafel. 2) nice new facility, everything is very well maintained and looks good. 3) the system is a bit peculiar, you order, pay and sit down. Food and drinks are then prepared and simply placed on the counter. Unfortunately there is no information about who it is for and what it is. This often causes confusion. Unfortunately, a wrap for our daughter didn't come and it was far too full to ask. Overall we were very satisfied. We were there on Friday evening and the crowd was huge. You should definitely make a reservation.

Overall experience was great. The place feels new and extremely clean. Even the bathrooms smell good. The food is very delicious but can be a little bit strong for some people. Not for me, because I loved it. The employees are nice but they rarely smile, this part is a little bit disappointing as they look very serious. Either way, I still recommend going there.

I absolutely don't understand all the good reviews. I ate a falafel sandwich. There were three mini falafels in the sandwich. Otherwise iceberg lettuce, radish, pickled cucumbers and yogurt sauce. You could hardly taste the falafel. The relationship didn't work at all. Overall, it only tasted like the Arabic bread with iceberg lettuce and yogurt sauce. All this for an outrageous price of €6.50. Inflation or not, absolutely not justified. Wake up people, the owner is aware that he is ripping you off. Don't support such people. They take advantage of your ignorance. In no Arab country would something like this be served to people. I don't understand how you can save money on falafel. For me this is cheating.

We tried Akams with the gourmet block and were very pleasantly surprised. The food was very tasty, one portion would have been enough for both of us as it was very large. The taste of the oriental dishes was great, just something different like burgers or kebabs. We are thrilled and would love to come back.

It was initially shown to us on Google Maps as a kebab shop. When we got there, we were very confused at first because it wasn't a kebab shop, but a shawarma restaurant. I have NEVER been so positively surprised that the food was very, very tasty. The food tasted super fresh and high quality for the price. Very happy again :-)
