We're from Dresden and came here on a whim. We're blown away! We received a very warm welcome, were given a table by the window, and had a fantastic meal. It's worth every penny! A wonderful atmosphere, great staff, and top-notch food. We highly recommend a visit!

Rarely have I eaten so well and in such a cozy atmosphere. The service was very friendly and attentive. The service was fantastic. You can create your own meal using a modular system. All the components can be combined. I had the mixed grill and deliberately skipped the side dishes, and I was incredibly full. Every dish we had was perfect—very high quality and perfectly balanced in flavor. Not exactly cheap, but something truly special. We were recommended by friends and will definitely go back.

A beacon among the typical Franconian restaurants. Both the food and the ambiance are exceptionally tasteful. It's difficult to get in without a (long-term) reservation, but if you're lucky and have a little patience... you'll be rewarded. The prices are significantly higher than usual, but the quality justifies the cost. The service is good in principle, but there's definitely room for improvement in the service itself. However, that's probably a general issue rather than a specific one. Of course, at this price point, expectations are higher. Overall, a very satisfying and well-rounded experience that scores exceptionally well in terms of cuisine. The venison and red deer skewers were cooked to perfection, tender and delicately seasoned, with perfectly complementary side dishes. Add a Kellerbier (cellar beer), and the evening is saved, no matter how bad the day before was.

Great restaurant with a very harmonious decor and super friendly staff. The food is high quality and deliciously prepared. As a woman, I just wish it were possible to get smaller portions. Otherwise, highly recommended. Please reserve early, otherwise you're out of luck... word has probably gotten around that it's great here.

I was at Ajò eight days ago with seven business clients from Switzerland. We were thrilled from start to finish and surprised to find such a restaurant in Bad Staffelstein. The decor has flair, the meat consultation was professional, the preparation and the plates were fabulous, all the service staff were courteous, and the owners knew their craft both in and out of the kitchen. We would love to return next year. Thank you for your hospitality in the truest sense of the word.

A very beautiful restaurant, decorated with attention to detail and a real "WOW" factor. The quality of the food is very high; you'll get top-notch dishes here. We were all very, very satisfied with our five different dishes. The quality of the meat was particularly evident in the Ajo platter, the fillet steak, and the sirloin steak we ordered. Perfectly tender, buttery steaks with the right branding and flavor. The trout fillet also deserves a mention; it's very tasty. Compared to the steak restaurants we've visited before, Ajo is a world of its own 🤩 For true beer connoisseurs, the beer on offer isn't a hit 😅 In Bad Staffelstein and the surrounding area, there are regional breweries with a much better flavor 🍺🍻 Perhaps consider a weekly beer on tap. As an alternative, however, there is, fortunately, a wide selection of different wines. Conclusion: Here, for your money, you get a pleasant atmosphere, with top-quality food and service.

We booked table one day before and owner did her best to accommodate us even if full. Had a mix of Beef, pork and deer and the meat was sooooo tender and juicy.. Best meat i have had in a very long time. If passing by Bad Staffelstein, make it a point to stop here. If I was there longer would have gone again.

One criticism is the reservation process: You're initially put on a waiting list, which makes planning difficult. It's not really suitable for spontaneous or last-minute dinners – you never know for sure if you'll actually get a seat. It's a shame, because with such good food, you want to be able to plan ahead and relax. The service was friendly, but not particularly attentive towards the end. They asked us in passing if we wanted anything else, and we had to ask for the bill a few times. However, for a Saturday evening, this is something you can overlook. Conclusion: Highly recommended for culinary reasons – but the reservation system and service could be improved a bit.

Fleisch, das medium bestellt war und dann well done kommt, ist schon mal nicht in Ordnung. Schlimmer ist aber, wie man mit dem Hinweis umgeht. Ansatatt einfach zu sagen "sorry" kommt die Ansage, es waren ja Filetspitzen,die schnell mal durch sind oder auf dem Teller nachgaren. Preis-Leistunsgsverhältnis passt nicht mehr. Sehr schade, habe ich anders kennengelernt.

The biggest challenge is getting an appointment. So we had to make the online reservation about six weeks in advance (although it worked smoothly). After a short wait at the reception, we were shown to our table. To my surprise, the restaurant was far from fully booked. However, this created a pleasant atmosphere – the service was quick and harmonious. After a delicious starter soup (garlic soup was quite ambitious at €8), we moved on to the menu's highlights: the meat. Good meat costs money – but with the right preparation, you can taste the difference. And that was definitely the case here! The rump steak was an absolute blast – an explosion of flavor. A full 5 stars – an all-round successful evening.

However, the reservation system feels unnecessarily restrictive, creating an unwelcoming barrier for what was a half-empty restaurant at 8:30 PM on a Saturday evening. Pay attention to the opening hours: They claim to be open until 11pm, but the kitchen closes sharply at 9. This rigidity seems misguided when a restaurant should be inviting guests in, rather than sending them away. The food shows clear potential with notable inconsistencies. I ordered the "Trio of Filets" medium rare, which arrived as a study in contrasts. The beef was excellent—properly cooked and flavorful. The pork, however, suffered from slight overcooking that left it somewhat dry, while the venison proved disappointingly firm and bland. All three were served on a thin bed of mushrooms and frisée, an uninspiring foundation that did little to elevate the presentation. The kitchen has a tendency toward over-salting: it compromises dishes with quality ingredients and technical ambition. The salad course proved similarly uneven—overdressed greens that suggest a kitchen struggling with the principle that accompaniments should complement rather than overwhelm. These are fixable problems, but they separate above-average restaurants from the high-end dining experiences. Ajò Steak & Wild has solid fundamentals: attractive space, quality ingredients, and clear ambitions. With more careful attention to execution and a more flexible approach to hospitality, this place could easily become a standout dining destination.

We've been to Ajo a few times now and it's always been really good. This time we had a grill plate and a 350gr. Rump steak with various side dishes. The grilled peppers with greens and feta are highly recommended as a starter.

We've been meeting friends here for dinner for a while now. The first impression was a certain WOW effect. The ambience of the room, the lighting and the apparently comfortable furniture should promise something special. We made a reservation for 7 p.m. on a Saturday evening. The Ajò Steak & Game was already well filled. I felt very comfortable from the first minute. The service didn't take long to arrive and greeted us appropriately and very politely. Throughout the evening we were served by three very nice and always friendly women. The food and drinks offer is very varied, of course in the focus of the restaurant name. The selection of starters, main courses, desserts and drinks is clear and easy to understand. Nevertheless, the waitress took a lot of time for us and occasionally went into more detail about our wishes and recommendations. We were repeatedly asked whether we were satisfied and whether we had any further wishes. After not a long wait, the food for all of us arrived on a fancy dining cart. Here too, time was taken for us to go into and explain each dish in detail. Especially in my case, as I had ordered the grill plate, which was prepared with many types of meat and preparations. BTW the portion is really big and definitely worth the price. The quality of the meat was very good in my opinion. The fried potatoes I ordered as a side dish were also excellent and tasty. The feedback from my friends was also consistently positive. Most people ordered delicious steak. If you want to take advantage of the opportunity, take a look at the online menu beforehand and get a glimpse of the treasures. All in all, it was a very nice evening in which nothing was missing and everything was very harmonious. Super delicious food, especially the steaks. Never had better steak anywhere else than at Ajo! Ambiance is also fabulous, especially on the terrace in summer. The waitresses are super friendly and not as aloof as in some other exquisite restaurants. Since the restaurant is very popular, you should reserve a table early. Reservations are possible online. There's nothing to complain about.
