A Mixed Experience at Ajò Steak & Wild This restaurant occupies an intriguing position in the Bad Staffelstein area dining landscape—a restaurant with genuine strengths that shows promise despite some execution stumbles. The atmosphere deserves genuine praise. The restaurant has cultivated a warm, inviting ambiance with understated elegance that makes it feel like the kind of place where one might settle in for a thoughtful meal and good conversation. However, the reservation system feels unnecessarily restrictive, creating an unwelcoming barrier for what was a half-empty restaurant at 8:30 PM on a Saturday evening. Pay attention to the opening hours: They claim to be open until 11pm, but the kitchen closes sharply at 9. This rigidity seems misguided when a restaurant should be inviting guests in, rather than sending them away. The food shows clear potential with notable inconsistencies. I ordered the "Trio of Filets" medium rare, which arrived as a study in contrasts. The beef was excellent—properly cooked and flavorful. The pork, however, suffered from slight overcooking that left it somewhat dry, while the venison proved disappointingly firm and bland. All three were served on a thin bed of mushrooms and frisée, an uninspiring foundation that did little to elevate the presentation. The kitchen has a tendency toward over-salting: it compromises dishes with quality ingredients and technical ambition. The salad course proved similarly uneven—overdressed greens that suggest a kitchen struggling with the principle that accompaniments should complement rather than overwhelm. These are fixable problems, but they separate above-average restaurants from the high-end dining experiences. Ajò Steak & Wild has solid fundamentals: attractive space, quality ingredients, and clear ambitions. With more careful attention to execution and a more flexible approach to hospitality, this place could easily become a standout dining destination.

Really great! Absolute recommendation. You can “only” book time slots and then have to release the table again, but since there is a nice and large lounge, you can simply move a few meters and drink your drink in peace or have a nightcap. Ate the Knofi soup as a starter today, extremely tasty. Likewise the fillet steak & entrecote, which were on point. Also delicious fried potatoes as a side dish. The service is just as friendly and super nice.

If you like really high-quality meat, this is the place for you. First class service with first class food. It's definitely not the last time we've eaten there. The portions are enough that everyone gets full. The price is reasonable for this quality.

There were six of us in Ajo. All dishes were of very high quality, both in terms of taste and visual appeal. The service was very friendly and attentive. The ambience of Ajo is very well chosen. All in all, you have to look for a restaurant in our area that can achieve this high level. Nice evening, gladly again.

We've been to Ajo a few times now and it's always been really good. This time we had a grill plate and a 350gr. Rump steak with various side dishes. The grilled peppers with greens and feta are highly recommended as a starter.

This was the second time we were with you and this time we weren't disappointed!! Super delicious food, both the meat (fillet and rump steak) and the different side dishes (fries, fried potatoes, garlic bread, salad) - wonderful ambience - top service!!! Deserves 5 stars. We'll be back!!

We've been meeting friends here for dinner for a while now. The first impression was a certain WOW effect. The ambience of the room, the lighting and the apparently comfortable furniture should promise something special. We made a reservation for 7 p.m. on a Saturday evening. The Ajò Steak & Game was already well filled. I felt very comfortable from the first minute. The service didn't take long to arrive and greeted us appropriately and very politely. Throughout the evening we were served by three very nice and always friendly women. The food and drinks offer is very varied, of course in the focus of the restaurant name. The selection of starters, main courses, desserts and drinks is clear and easy to understand. Nevertheless, the waitress took a lot of time for us and occasionally went into more detail about our wishes and recommendations. We were repeatedly asked whether we were satisfied and whether we had any further wishes. After not a long wait, the food for all of us arrived on a fancy dining cart. Here too, time was taken for us to go into and explain each dish in detail. Especially in my case, as I had ordered the grill plate, which was prepared with many types of meat and preparations. BTW the portion is really big and definitely worth the price. The quality of the meat was very good in my opinion. The fried potatoes I ordered as a side dish were also excellent and tasty. The feedback from my friends was also consistently positive. Most people ordered delicious steak. If you want to take advantage of the opportunity, take a look at the online menu beforehand and get a glimpse of the treasures. All in all, it was a very nice evening in which nothing was missing and everything was very harmonious. I therefore recommend it from my point of view and would like to thank the entire Ajò Steak & Wild team once again. 🙏

Top food. Absolutely top meat. The quantity is also OK and it fills you up well. But it's also a treat that you can't and don't always afford. But if you like to eat a delicious piece of beef, this is a top address.

The service is attentive, warm and exactly as you would expect - always present, never intrusive and extremely organized. The highlight is of course the steak: perfectly prepared, crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside, with a quality that is second to none. The side dishes complete the experience. An absolute must for anyone who wants to experience steak perfection!

Super delicious food, especially the steaks. Never had better steak anywhere else than at Ajo! Ambiance is also fabulous, especially on the terrace in summer. The waitresses are super friendly and not as aloof as in some other exquisite restaurants. Since the restaurant is very popular, you should reserve a table early. Reservations are possible online. There's nothing to complain about.

We just wanted to treat ourselves to good meat. The guest room is something special with its seating areas instead of chairs at the table. I liked the decor of the restaurant. However, the staff didn't always make a friendly impression on me on site or even when making the reservation by telephone. You are referred to the online reservation option, although there are still people without internet. When making the reservation itself, I had never experienced that you have to give out all of your data, including your telephone number, email and address, as is the case here. I was present as a companion/driver for, among others, two ladies aged around 90. Since they no longer had such a large appetite, they asked for a second plate so they could share a dish. The answer was: "We won't do that!" Instead - at least that's my impression - more sales were ensured elsewhere with oversized dishes. The food itself was fine; According to many people, it is a bit greasy or oily. Addition: Sorry if you're using my opinion here to give a general answer regarding dogs, children,... I didn't say anything about that! I actually didn't plan on wasting any more time on the internet, but based on your personal answer, I would be happy to provide more details. As I said, I was only a “companion” and “payer”, because the lady with the personal relationship with you wanted to visit your restaurant together with relatives from the USA on their last evening together and originally wanted to eat game. Actually, the only possible, reserved meal time was already too late for the ladies and in general people are simply less hungry as they get older. I understand that you live from sales. But I and especially the guests from the USA (!) don't understand that - especially if you know the lady - it is a problem to bring a second plate to share a dish. The lady expressed her wish for a “senior portion” several times. Recommending food is your job and a good thing; Of course the older women won't say no. Yes, they would be ashamed…to say no! And I didn't say that your friend didn't like it. At 91 she will certainly not answer you otherwise... But as you said yourself, the lady “almost finished” the small steak and ate part of the salad and only a few of the fries (together with the other ladies). A good half of the fish was eaten, as was the fried potatoes. Half of the salad plate was also left. OK; There's nothing you can do about it! But I knew this in advance because the ladies mentioned several times that they were slightly hungry and wanted to share a portion. I therefore perceived the whole thing as “misguided advice”. It makes sense that after being informed that you don't put a second plate on the table, you should have left and realized that it was the wrong time or that we are not part of your target group. As I said, the relatives came from the USA and I recently visited a few restaurants with them. There was, among other things, a restaurant that served us the salad and the pizza already divided on two plates... My steak was ok, although in other restaurants the waitress also offers spices or pepper fresh from the mill. Because it wasn't me, but rather those guests who supposedly only eat fast food, who found the fish, the side dishes and the salad to be a bit too oily, I can't do anything. I was just passing on the feedback! The American guests therefore know the rating. I am regularly in the USA and can say that customer service is often experienced differently there anyway. Regardless of free water, bread, sauces, ... an additional plate upon customer request would be a given.

Were here a long time ago. If you like high-quality and delicious food, this is the place for you. The meat was well prepared and the side dishes and sauces/dips were very tasty. We had 2 children with us and they were also very welcome and didn't bother anyone, thank you! :-)

The food is really good value for money, we paid around €60 per person. The decor was very successful, the fillet steak was on point. The lady who cashed in could have looked a little friendlier at times :) But the rest of the team is doing a great job! Will be here more often in the future.

It was once again an absolute (palate) spectacle in the AJO.. Ambiance, wine recommendation and the mega AJO platter were great, service was great as usual, the “bonnet” on top, the eggnog foam with the walnut parfaitals desert! Next visit is already booked, thank you for such a culinary delight!

The three of us were here for dinner today. The ambience is very nice, but it would be more harmonious if the service ladies were recognizable by wearing a uniform T-shirt, for example. The food tastes delicious - the portions are huge to justify the price.

Ambience very nice!! Food is great, freshly prepared! Unfortunately we had to wait 55 minutes for food. As an “apology” there was a rude comment from the waitress. Service is poor, no one asks about empty glasses, food is cleared away even though people are still eating at the table. Overall expensive, but more must be offered!!
