Ahmad's - Middle Eastern Eatery in Heidelberg

I ate shawarma there for the first time.. The meat is halal, apart from the fact that music is playing.. 8.50- per shawarma is too much for me personally.. Unfortunately it didn't taste good either because the meat was dry. You can achieve the same taste at home, for much cheaper.

❌️The prices is comparatively expensive, 8.5 for a shawarma sandwich and ❌️ the size is not reflecting the price also unfortunately the service is not good as ❌️ you have to serve your own self... ✅️the sandwich is tasty and ✅️ the owner is nice and Friendly.

Where should I even start? The food is unique, the price is very fair. Since I was sitting outside, I dropped my fork 5 times, and each time the owner himself brought me a new fork with a smile (shukran 3amo). If you don't eat at Ahmad's Middle Eastern Eatery, you're missing out on something at any price. The employees and the owner are very kind people and you can see how much fun they have at work.

The shawarma was by far the best thing I've eaten so far, only the wrap itself could be a little bigger for my taste (I think that would still be included at 8.50 euros without hurting)! All in all, just complaining at a very high level, clear recommendation.

The food at this restaurant is simply exquisite, a true culinary delight. The portions are incredibly generous – no one will leave this place hungry. The Shoarma we had was nothing short of phenomenal, perfectly seasoned and tender. As a word of caution, the portions are enormous; a dish intended for two could easily satisfy four hungry diners. This establishment is a must-visit for anyone seeking a memorable gastronomic experience.

Delicious food that is beautifully presented. The plates for two people are a fantastic file idea. The staff are very nice and accommodating - you can also have a great chat. You can tell that they enjoy doing their job. Highly recommended if you want to eat good food!

Very tasty food and really courteous staff. The price-performance ratio is definitely okay. The portions were huge and the platters were enough for more than 2 people, which is why the prices seem a bit high, but everything is more than enough for more people than stated.

A really great, beautiful little cozy restaurant, it invites you to a different culture... a very tasty and absolutely freshly prepared one! I have rarely experienced such a friendly welcome and friendly interaction, it was the first time I was there...very reasonable prices for Heidelberg's old town...keep it up! New Halal spot I discovered in Heidelberg (for a quick snack). Very passionate kitchen chef. Here you can enjoy the one and only shawarma in Heidelberg. From the first to the last minute from the sitting area to the smell and the shawarma sandwich it's a story. Small menu but golden pieces. The highlight for me is the shawarma sandwich & falafel sandwich. You can sit inside and outside. The prices are for some students maybe expensive but everything is getting inflation in life. Beside the food the chef is a great respectful man with a story. I really recommend this place.

Delicious shawarma shop right downstairs. Unfortunately it is often very full. Prices are okay.

We came across this snack bar after spontaneously looking for something quick to eat in Heidelberg in the evening. We ended up waiting almost 40 minutes for our food. Shawarma platter for 2 was definitely enough for us, but the price-performance ratio was well above the standard at just under EUR 28 (2024). The waitress asked to pack ALL the leftovers, but only fries and remaining shawarma were included - without sauce and salad, as actually requested and communicated. Due to limited seating, we were lucky to get a seat outside. Unfortunately, in warmer temperatures it is hardly possible to stand the heat inside.

It doesn't deserve its rating. I asked for a single serving of schwarma, it was too much for one person. Döner was very oily. My stomach hurt all day long.

Very tasty homemade falafel and other delicacies

I was really looking forward to a shawarma there because of the good reviews, but I was pretty disappointed. My shawarma burned and tasted like cheap fat. The portion was super small, which I didn't expect for €8.50. Despite all the fat, it didn't really fill me up. Even though there was only one person in front of me, I waited over 10 minutes for my shawarma. The staff was super nice, but unfortunately the food was really disastrous. Won't come back.

The best shawarma shop in Heidelberg. Had the shawarma platter for 2 and it was very tasty and a lot too! Can recommend it to everyone!

Taste is okay, but you should avoid covering the wrap with the same gloves you used to pick up the money and rummage around in the cash register.

This place is excellent! We ran into this restaurant by chance, and we did not regret our decision to go in and try the shawarma. It’s a must try, absolutely fabulous. This place has not seen the last of us.

Today we ate a falafel wrap and a haloumi warp. It was really so delicious and the staff were very nice! If we are in Heidelberg again we would like to come back :)

Very tasty food. Very friendly service. Everything very clean and tidy. I had the wrap with rotisserie meat. Only the price of €8.50 might seem a bit too high at first glance. However, the quality is good and the price is also okay. In addition, the rent for the shop might not be cheap either.

Excellent food. Great for after a busy day wandering Heidelberg. Food is kebabs and platters of roticery meats. I had the Ahmed's Mixed Platter for one and it would have fed two well. Delicious.

The garlic mayonnaise on the wrap was far from a good shawarma. And water for 3 EUR is simply outrageous

Based on my experience, they put barely any meat in the foods, no matter wrap or plates. I find many of reviews and most of photos fake. I would not recommend this place ever, and don't like to give it a try again.

All in all, it tastes really good here and the staff is very nice. But I thought the prices were too high. €8.50 for a simple wrap is already too steep. In addition, the opening times cannot be relied upon; I have often found myself standing in front of the closed door here.

I was absolutely disappointed with the shawarma platter for two. There was almost no meat on it at all, which seems really unreasonable considering the price. I would estimate that a normal standard kebab has more meat than the shawarma platter for two people.

Ahmed's Middle Eastern Eatery is simply fantastic! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and the food is simply delicious. The staff is friendly and attentive, making the visit a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I can't wait to come back and try more of their delicious dishes!

Yesterday we ate the falafel platter for two people. It was so delicious! The falafel are just really good, and the hummus!! And if you really want to get full, you should go there anyway, there's no skimping on the quantity. It's a huge record, we almost couldn't make it with the two of us. And they’re super nice there too. The food came super quickly. Really deserves 5 stars!

The food here is simply outstanding, the service is super friendly and it's always very quick. I can only say positive things about Ahmad's and have always been more than satisfied on all my visits, both with the shawarma and with the platters, which are generously topped.

Incredibly good and diverse record that will definitely leave you satiated. Plus soft drinks in glass bottles and a free tea at the end. Great recommendation!

Clean and cozy place; the guy working there was friendly. We enjoyed shawarmas too! One of the hidden spots of Heidelberg, behind the main square and streets, but you gotta try. Don’t forget they only accept CASH tho!!

Shawrma bei ihm ist einfach Döner Geschmack. Es hat nichts mit arabischen Shawrma zu tun. Wrap ist extrem teuer für solches Shawrma. Service ist ok. Die beiden Mitarbeiter sind nett. Das Essen bei ihm ist nicht zu empfehlen.

Getränke SAUTEUER, Selbstbedienung 0,2 Cola für 3,50 Euro. Finger weg.

Wow! Eine wirklich gelungene Fusion aus Restaurant und Imbiss. Ahmad gibt sich viel Mühe bei der Zusammenstellung der Tellergerichte und macht das mit Liebe und Passion. Optisch und geschmacklich ein Genuss. Die Getränkepreise sollten allerdings gesenkt werden und die 0,2l Fläschchen sind auch zu klein.

Gibt in ganz Heidelberg kein besseres Shawarma! Personal ist auch total freundlich

Really good Shawarma with an option of trying it the Syrian way (honestly brings it to a whole other level). Since my friends and I tried the Shawarma here we stopped going to any other places for Shawarma. I think it’s the best you can find in Altstadt and the staff are really nice and welcoming!

Super authentisch! Wer arabische Küche genießen will, der sollte hier vorbei schauen. Im Hintergrund läuft tolle arabische Musik, die Wraps sind die besten, die ich hier in Deutschland gegessen habe!
