Ahmad's - Middle Eastern Eatery in Heidelberg

My shawarma only contained salad.

Was looking for authentic Arabic Shawarma platter. Usually cut sandwich with fries on the side and garlic sauce, the close by shops offering shawarma didn’t have it, but this place did! We asked for a Syrian style shawarma, with pomegranate sauce. It was delicious !

The shawarma was delicious and the place was in a good location, however, I asked three times how much the water cost and the employee kept saying "take it." It turned out in the end that he was charging €3 for cheap water... a real scam.

Our absolute favorite place! Whenever we're in Heidelberg, we always grab at least one wrap. I love the falafel, and we often share a beautifully presented shawarma platter. They're just missing a guest restroom; otherwise, it's fantastic.

The food was great. But they don't keep to the opening hours. It's a shame; I waited half an hour unnecessarily only to be put off for another half hour. The clock in the shop is wrong.

For me personally, this is the best shawarma in town. Amir always prepares it with care, and he himself is very friendly. I'm deducting one point for the high price of 8-9 euros. The portion isn't particularly large, but it's not particularly small either. For me personally, it's too small, as I can easily eat two of these shawarmas.

Wallah, very tasty shawarma, only the fries are too salty, otherwise everything is perfect.

Personally, I didn't find it that tasty. I had a vegetable wrap. It was quite garlicky, even though I actually like garlic. I would have appreciated being asked beforehand if I wanted that. And charging three euros for an ayran (yogurt drink) is something I'm not used to in Berlin. It costs exactly half that there. And the prices weren't displayed on the drinks. The portion wasn't exactly large either. There were four cyclists in front of me. Each of them ordered two wraps. That costs €8.90 each!

Small? - Yes! But I'm still glad the portion is relatively small; otherwise, you always have to force down the last few pieces. Just enough to enjoy and to come back for more :) Tastes good? - Absolutely! Just like I used to eat it as a student 20-25 years ago! Expensive? Yes. A bit pricey for the portion size. But it's not an everyday meal. Conclusion: If you didn't like it, don't focus on the price; focus on traditional preparation methods 🖖🏻

The food tasted very good, but the portion size was very small for the price, and nowhere did it say that a 0.3L Coke cost €3.50. Furthermore, they made a mistake when charging us and didn't correct it when we asked.

The falafel kebab is truly unbelievably good! The hummus is fresh and homemade, and the bread is toasted on the grill. €8 is a bit pricey, but you know you're paying for quality, so it's worth the price.

Wir hatten Shawarma und Falafel. Es war super lecker. Haben noch Hummus und Tee aufs Haus bekommen! Der Chef und sein Angestellter waren sehr nett und haben darauf geachtet, dass es uns als Gästen gut geht. Aufjedenfall machen!

Son los mejores Shawarma de Heidelberg. Nunca he comido un shawarma como el de ellos en Heidelberg o Mannheim. Realmente recomiendo a todos probarlo. Si quieres comer el Shawarma de verdad, entonces ven aquí.

We found this restaurant from a Google search and the high review was very worthy. The menu is small but I don't think you could go wrong with any of the options. The two of us shared the "Mix" plate for one and were very satisfied. I don't think we could have finished the larger one designed for two!

The kebab is normal, but the hygiene is very poor. The chef receives the money with the same hands that he cooks with. really unpleasant. At least a bag in hand to receive the money

Very good meat but somewhat small portions. Perfect for every now and then but it also has its price.

I ate shawarma there for the first time.. The meat is halal, apart from the fact that music is playing.. 8.50- per shawarma is too much for me personally.. Unfortunately it didn't taste good either because the meat was dry. You can achieve the same taste at home, for much cheaper.

❌️The prices is comparatively expensive, 8.5 for a shawarma sandwich and ❌️ the size is not reflecting the price also unfortunately the service is not good as ❌️ you have to serve your own self... ✅️the sandwich is tasty and ✅️ the owner is nice and Friendly.

Where should I even start? The food is unique, the price is very fair. Since I was sitting outside, I dropped my fork 5 times, and each time the owner himself brought me a new fork with a smile (shukran 3amo). If you don't eat at Ahmad's Middle Eastern Eatery, you're missing out on something at any price. The employees and the owner are very kind people and you can see how much fun they have at work.

The shawarma was by far the best thing I've eaten so far, only the wrap itself could be a little bigger for my taste (I think that would still be included at 8.50 euros without hurting)! All in all, just complaining at a very high level, clear recommendation.

Delicious food that is beautifully presented. The plates for two people are a fantastic file idea. The staff are very nice and accommodating - you can also have a great chat. You can tell that they enjoy doing their job. Highly recommended if you want to eat good food!

Very tasty food and really courteous staff. The price-performance ratio is definitely okay. The portions were huge and the platters were enough for more than 2 people, which is why the prices seem a bit high, but everything is more than enough for more people than stated.

A really great, beautiful little cozy restaurant, it invites you to a different culture... a very tasty and absolutely freshly prepared one! I have rarely experienced such a friendly welcome and friendly interaction, it was the first time I was there...very reasonable prices for Heidelberg's old town...keep it up! New Halal spot I discovered in Heidelberg (for a quick snack). Very passionate kitchen chef. Here you can enjoy the one and only shawarma in Heidelberg. From the first to the last minute from the sitting area to the smell and the shawarma sandwich it's a story. Small menu but golden pieces. The highlight for me is the shawarma sandwich & falafel sandwich. You can sit inside and outside. The prices are for some students maybe expensive but everything is getting inflation in life. Beside the food the chef is a great respectful man with a story. I really recommend this place.

We came across this snack bar after spontaneously looking for something quick to eat in Heidelberg in the evening. We ended up waiting almost 40 minutes for our food. Shawarma platter for 2 was definitely enough for us, but the price-performance ratio was well above the standard at just under EUR 28 (2024). The waitress asked to pack ALL the leftovers, but only fries and remaining shawarma were included - without sauce and salad, as actually requested and communicated. Due to limited seating, we were lucky to get a seat outside. Unfortunately, in warmer temperatures it is hardly possible to stand the heat inside.

It doesn't deserve its rating. I asked for a single serving of schwarma, it was too much for one person. Döner was very oily. My stomach hurt all day long.

I was really looking forward to a shawarma there because of the good reviews, but I was pretty disappointed. My shawarma burned and tasted like cheap fat. The portion was super small, which I didn't expect for €8.50. Despite all the fat, it didn't really fill me up. Even though there was only one person in front of me, I waited over 10 minutes for my shawarma. The staff was super nice, but unfortunately the food was really disastrous. Won't come back.

Taste is okay, but you should avoid covering the wrap with the same gloves you used to pick up the money and rummage around in the cash register.

This place is excellent! We ran into this restaurant by chance, and we did not regret our decision to go in and try the shawarma. It’s a must try, absolutely fabulous. This place has not seen the last of us.
