Oben Restaurant in Heidelberg

Our second visit to Oben was just as special as the first. The three of them, the ambience, the food, the philosophy, everything is just right. You feel like you're eating with friends. Creative and regional seasonal cuisine, perfectly matched wines and non-alcoholic accompaniment, simply great! We would like to come back to the top again and again!

Staying at the “Up” was magical. The atmosphere is so wonderful up there. The service is familiar, personal and very approachable. I gave VIP coaching and couldn't have asked for any other location. We were in seventh culinary heaven. We received it in abundance and I had goosebumps from the different dishes and wines. I haven't been so moved by the food, the wine and this great team that meets you at eye level and creates an atmosphere in which you feel at home. Thanks for that! Great experience! I can only recommend it.

In the restaurant upstairs you feel welcome and “arrived” from the first minute. The interior is extremely inviting and adds to the "overall experience upstairs". The food is extremely varied and fine; the service was very attentive and friendly. It's also great that you can eat a course in the kitchen and look over the chefs' shoulders. The price-performance ratio is also very fair! Overall, a wonderful evening that we would like to repeat quickly.

The one above is an absolute highlight. The long wait for a reservation is a testament to the exceptional quality on offer here. The kitchen conjures up true masterpieces on your plate using regional and seasonal products. The 13-course menu is a taste explosion and the wine pairing rounds off the experience perfectly. The non-alcoholic options are also exceptional. The combination of excellent food, attentive service and a cozy atmosphere makes this visit unforgettable. An absolute must for everyone who appreciates high-quality cuisine and is looking for a special culinary experience.

What can I say: my wife. and I have been regulars at Oben for years. Yes, actually, there are people who get a table more often, despite the ever-increasing crowds. And yes, we always look forward to the thirteen courses with the accompanying drinks. And we have never been disappointed! Robert is not a chef, but an artist who knows exactly what suits a season and how to implement it in culinary terms. And his team, both old and new, is friendly, attentive and fully focused on the menu as well as the guest. Keep it up! Because we'll be back!

My Heidelberg experience completely changed last night after an excellent dinner at Oben. It showed me Heidelberg’s best. From beginning to end, the creativity and honesty of the dishes did not stop. Pork dish was my favorite for the evening and trout for my partner. But the last dish of lettuce and raspberry was simply extraordinary. I visited Heidelberg from Japan where food and seasonality are always considered and I saw that at Oben. I will definitely come back when I’m in the Heidelberg again. What I found I interesting experience also was the payment - it’s bank transfer lol, but nonetheless a great experience.

We had the summer menu. Absolute feel-good atmosphere: very friendly, authentic, open team, although not aloof from the top, the restaurant is stylish and comfortably furnished with a great interior. There's not much to say about the menu including the wine accompaniment, everything just fit together perfectly. Great taste experience, great combinations, imaginative, local food. Absolute restaurant recommendation from us.

We were very positively surprised by the living room atmosphere, the really personal service and the creative dishes and details, such as the change of table to the kitchen! For us one of the best restaurant evenings in recent years! We can only advise every friend of upscale restaurants in the Heidelberg region to take the 6 month wait between reservation and restaurant visit - it's really worth it!

A beautiful feel-good place with attentive, friendly and smart people. The food is first-class, regional, well thought-out and sometimes has surprising flavors. The wine accompaniment and also the non-alcoholic version are highly recommended. Every bite, every sip is an experience. As a guest you feel welcome and valued. The hours at the top remain unforgettable and have lasting effects, a feast for all the senses.

Beautiful food, wine selection at the master+ level. Dinner in a very pleasant atmosphere, in an intimate setting. You can freely talk to the creators of the dishes and to the sommelier who pours wonderful things into the glasses. The pigeon and watermelon gave the masses a positive shock!

A beautiful oasis in the middle of the forest and away from the hustle and bustle of the crowded city. The personal welcome made us immediately feel welcome...we were able to enjoy this warm summer evening outside in the garden, with wonderful food and courteous hosts. Our highlight was the visit to the kitchen, where Robert Rädel prepared a fantastic trout for us with a lot of fire in front of our eyes. Many thanks to Robert, Philipp and Leis for an unforgettable evening. Compared to other star restaurants, this one is a real gem and the chef is an eye-catcher (he could certainly compete with Jordi Cruz on a magazine cover :-))

If I could I would give more stars! The evening was magical. The dishes are not only a visual highlight but also amazing in terms of taste. From my point of view, the most special thing about the top: the warmth and the treatment of the guests. Seen in this way, also the “around it” Zero hectic, no stress. What we were served yesterday by Robert Rädel in “oben” in Heidelberg leaves you speechless again. Super tasty delicacies accompanied by perfectly put together non-alcoholic drinks. It was a wonderful evening in the gourmet paradise that we will remember for a long time. It was also nice that we were able to experience the wonderful Mona Schmid again on her last evening in the “above”. We will miss you with your cheerful and lovable nature. We wish you all the love in the world for your future. We also met Anna Kaufmann and her fiancé. What a surprise! We also wish you both all the best for your future. A thousand thanks also go to Philipp. With his charming manner he introduced and served us the drinks and accompanied us through the evening. Simply great!! An extraordinary evening in the “above”. To say it in one sentence: this location is now very, very high for us! As soon as we entered, Mona welcomed and welcomed us like friends and we felt welcome and comfortable from the first minute. We were led into a large room that was tastefully decorated and comfortably designed with many old pieces. The 4 tables were generously separated from each other, so we felt like we were alone here. This feeling was also conveyed to us by Robert, Philipp and Mona, who always had time for a short personal conversation during the evening, but also offered the food and wine in a very professional manner and gave us the feeling that we were only there for ourselves. The fact that we went straight to “DU” upon entry underlined the friendly welcome culture and was very charming in a discreet way. The dishes on the menu, which consisted exclusively of regional products, were first-class, imaginative and of the highest level in terms of both taste and appearance. The wine accompaniment and the self-created non-alcoholic alternatives were exceptional and complemented the menu perfectly. Allergies/intolerances were also addressed without any problems, completely naturally and easily, and these were taken into account in the menu. We haven't experienced anything like this in other star-rated restaurants either. The fact that we then had the opportunity to sit at a small, cozy table in the kitchen for one of the many courses gave us the opportunity to chat with Robert and Mona while they were working, to take a look behind the scenes and see how wonderful things were made Being able to watch food. Where can you find that in a star kitchen? The absolutely relaxed atmosphere among the actors carried us through the entire evening and we could have enjoyed it forever. Summary: We felt like we were among long-known friends, we were able to enjoy an excellent, extraordinary meal in a cozy atmosphere, and even though 3 hours of travel is a little long for us for “dinner”, we will definitely be back . On April 12th the time had finally come: after a long wait, we were allowed to take a seat in the OBEN. There are so many positive things written here and everything can actually be confirmed! We walked for about 30 minutes from our hotel through a small forest path towards Kohlhof. The above is between forest and meadow, you could say "in the middle of nowhere". We were greeted right at the door by Philipp, who, as restaurant manager and sommelier, led us to our beautiful place. The restaurant is lovingly furnished. Lots of wood, there are candles everywhere. Everything radiates an incredible familiarity and calm. People were called by their first names, quiet, well-selected music in the background, only about 12 guests. These many small details make the OBEN a special place where you immediately feel at home. We were looking forward to 13 courses including snacks and decided on wine accompaniment. And what should I say? Every course was a taste experience, every wine was a perfect match. Personally, I'm very sensitive when it comes to "fish", but the golden trout and the Rhine pike were also prepared in such a way that it was a real feast. The experience of being allowed to sit one table at a time in the kitchen is particularly positive. Robert & Mona let you look over their shoulders, answer questions or are simply open to a nice small talk. All of this is done with such calm and serenity that as a guest you never have the feeling that things can get stressful in a gourmet restaurant. As a curious person, I then asked Philip if we could take a look at the wine cellar - even though we had already decided on the wine accompaniment. This was absolutely no problem and at the end he gave us a little insight into the wine cellar. Conclusion: the ABOVE is fully recommended. A special place with people whose passion really shows. The concept of processing regional ingredients and presenting them in a special way is great. I've also been to a few other starred restaurants. What is really an experience: in addition to the great food, you always feel a certain serenity, peace and warmth. An experience you should definitely have! The desire to experience this again and to get a table again is probably one of the reasons why it is so difficult to get a table here. Thank you for the lovely evening!

We would like to thank you for a wonderful and special evening in the “above”! We particularly liked the relaxed and almost familiar atmosphere. Philipp, who guided us through the evening with his friendly manner, and of course Mona and Robert, with whom we were able to exchange ideas openly and in a friendly manner over a walk in the kitchen, really create something special here! Every day of waiting between the reservation six months in advance and the evening at the top is worth it as the anticipation increases. An evening, a team, a place that makes you absolutely convinced and grateful to be pampered and thrilled with so much skill, joy in what you do and with your guests, as well as time and eye for detail. Excellent in all facets: from the welcome to the main actors and moments of the evening, personally, culinary, visually, in the fluid form and mood of the ambience, an absolute pleasure.

Wow was für ein rundum-perfektes Erlebnis! Das Menü, ein nicht nur geschmackliches sondern auch optisches Highlight nach dem anderen. Ich wusste nicht, dass Kohl so köstlich schmecken kann! (Und nein, es gab nicht nur Kohl, aber der "Kohl-Gang" war mein persönliches Highlight). Ambiente und Service haben uns zum wohlfühlen und genießen eingeladen und alles geliefert, was man erwarten kann. Atmosphäre unglaublich gemütlich, aber elegant, Service kompetent und unglaublich nett zugleich. Schade, dass man nicht einfach so nochmal reservieren kann, da die Wartezeiten länger sind. Aber es hat sich gelohnt zu warten und wir freuen uns schon auf den nächsten Besuch, auch wenn dieser wahrscheinlich erst in ein paar Monaten stattfinden kann (wenn wir Glück haben!).

Es war ein wunderschöner, familiärer, authentischer, angenehmer und vor allem leckerer Abend! Danke an das komplette Team. Wir werden lange an dieses Erlebnis zurückdenken.

Von dem Moment, in dem wir das Oben betreten haben, bis zum Gehen (insgesamt rund 4,5 Stunden), fühlten wir uns in Gemütlichkeit und Freundlichkeit eingehüllt. Eine perfekte Grundlage für dieses grandiose Essen und die sehr passende, teils ausgefallene Getränkebegleitung (zielsicher empfohlen von Sommelier Philipp). Wir genossen das Herbstmenü 2023 und es ist schwer ein einzelnes Highlight herauszudeuten. Ganz sicher ein Highlight war der Besuch in der Küche (jeder Tisch darf einen Gang in der Küche zu sich nehmen und das ließen wir uns nicht zweimal sagen). Die Möglichkeit mittendrin zu sein bietet sich nicht oft. Aus regionalen und saisonalen Zutaten zaubert das Team vom Oben mit nicht alltäglichen Zubereitungsarten unwiderstehliche Köstlichkeiten. Beim Servieren jeden Gangs, der entweder von Küchenchef Robert oder Sous Chefin Mona an den Tisch gebracht wurde, beschrieben die beiden jeweils, was auf den Teller kam und wie genau es zubereitet wurde. Schon allein die Beschreibung ließ einem das Wasser im Mund zusammenlaufen! Insgesamt hat dieser Abend bei uns großen Eindruck hinterlassen, es war ein Fest aus Konsistenzen und Aromen mit einem tollen Zusammenspiel von Salz, Säure, Süße, Fett. Wir hätten nicht gedacht, dass Essen so schmecken kann und empfehlen das Oben vorbehaltlos weiter. Danke.

Liebes Oben-Team, unser Besuch am vergangenen Freitag war wirklich ganz weit oben und unser kulinarischer Kalender 2023 enthält einige Schwergewichte. Das Beste kommt oft doch erst zum Schluss! Wir waren zum wiederholten Mal im "Oben" und die Erwartungen wurden zum wiederholten Mal übertroffen. Es gibt absolut nichts zu bemängeln (einmal abgesehen von der Schwierigkeit, einen Tisch zu bekommen :)). Ein wunderbar gemütliches Ambiente, traumhaftes Team, äußerst persönlicher Umgang mit den Gästen und natürlich ein kulinarischer Hochgenuss mit perfekt abgestimmter Weinbegleitung. Wir freuen uns jetzt schon auf das nächste Mal.

Es war ein spontaner Besuch im Restaurant “oben” aber nicht das letze Mal. Wir wurden sehr netten begrüß und auch sehr persönlich, man hat das Gefühl als würde man Freunde zu Hause besuchen. Essen war super lecker und es gibt wirklich bei gar keinen Gang auszusetzen. Wir möchten uns bei jeder einzelnen von euch bedanken für diesen tollen Abend. Es hat uns wirklich Spaß gemacht euch beim kochen zuzuschauen.

Ich bin immer noch begeistert von unserem Besuch! Robert und sein Team sind hilfsbereit und zuvorkommend. Das Ambiente ist wunderschön und dass Essen sucht seinesgleichen. Total ungezwungen und lockerer Umgang in einer Sterneküche. Jedes Gericht ist im Mund quasi explodiert und war einzigartig. Wir kommen definitv wieder! Danke an das ganze Team!

OBEN - Himmlisch gut!!!! Ein besonderes Erlebnis in allen Bereichen!

Wir durften hier gestern einen Abend verbringen der kaum besser sein könnte. Das Menü als auch die alkoholfreie Getränkebegleitung waren hervorragend. Location und Konzept können nicht stimmiger sein. Wir haben uns ausgesprochen wohl gefühlt. Robert Rädel und sein Team sind Gastgeber die absolut unaufgeregt die Gäste empfangen und eine Wohlfühloase kreiert haben. Danke ♥️

Incredible restaurant with incredible service!

Ich würde gerne mehr Sterne vergeben. Der Abend mit Freunden war ein absoluter Traum, angefangen vom Ambiente über den Service bis zu dem phantastischen Essen. Einfach ein perfekter Abend. Wir waren schon öfters in Sterne Restaurants essen aber was hier im Oben geboten wurde war einfach unglaublich.

Wenn man es mitten im Wald gelegen erstmal gefunden hat, fühlt es sich trotz erstmaligem Besuch an, wie nach Hause zu kommen. Das Team besteht lediglich aus 2 Köchen und einem Sommelier. Im Gastraum stehen 5 Tische mit an diesem Abend 12 Gästen. Zu Beginn nimmt einen der Sommelier Ferdi mit in den Weinkeller um sich zu den regionalen Gerichten die passenden regionalen Weine auszusuchen. Die beiden Köche servieren selbst und erklären die einzelnen Gänge des Menüs. Dadurch entsteht das Gefühl, eher von 3 Gastgebern privat empfangen zu werden, als bei einem klassischen Restaurant Besuch. Zusätzlich bekommt jeder Gast die Möglichkeit einen Gang an einem Tisch in der Küche zu genießen. Auch dadurch lernt man die beiden Köche Mona und Robert ein wenig kennen. Der Fokus im Oben liegt darauf, jedem einzelnen Gast einen schönen Abend zu bereiten, wie es nur in so einer kleinen vertrauten Gesellschaft möglich ist. Die einzelnen Gerichte waren alle aufwendig und sehr geschmackvoll zubereitet, die Weine haben ausgezeichnet dazu gepasst, aber was das Oben ganz besonders macht ist diese warmherzige Wollfühlatmosphäre. Wir kommen gerne wieder …

Einfach das beste Restaurant in Süddeutschland

Wir hatten zu zweit einen ausgesprochen schönen Abend. Alle 13 Gänge waren hervorragend. Wir haben rein vegetarisch gegessen. Dabei war jeder Gang war extrem abwechslungsreich, intensiv, besonders und immer hervorragend zusammengestellt. Ebenso die Auswahl der Getränke. Besonders schön war es, einen Gang in der Küche einnehmen zu können und dabei die beiden Köche Robert und Mona kennenzulernen: Nicht nur fachlich eine völlig neue Liga, sondern auch sehr sympathisch. Die beiden holen aus den Lebensmitteln alles raus und kreieren aus Bekanntem völlig neue Geschmackserlebnisse. Nur zu empfehlen!

Wir waren vor einer Woche im Oben und sind immernoch beeindruckt. Von der tollen Terasse auf der wir sitzen durften, über den total freundlichen und zuvorkommensen Service bis zum liebevoll gemachten und vorgestellten Essen war einfach alles großartig. Wir werden bestimmt nochmal wiederkommen (:

Toller Abend! Die Gerichte sind geschmacklich sehr gut, jedoch fehlte mir hin und wieder etwas Raffinesse. Der Service, die Erklärung, sowie Beratung war ausgezeichnet. Die Location passt perfekt zum Menü! Auch die Fahrt hoch zum Oben war ein Abenteuer

Ich habe gerade gelesen welche Steine eure Stadthalter euch vor die Beine werfen. Das kenne ich auch aus Ingolstadt. Nicht Häuser bringen Leben in eine Stadt sondern ihr. So ein wunderschönes Konzept und viel Liebe in eurer Arbeit und dann solche Ochsen in der Verwaltung. Wenn möglich am besten abwählen. Das sind die Menschen die das Leben in unseren Städten zerstören weil sie meinen alles besser zu wissen. Überall das selbe Problem. Idioten in der Stadtverwaltung

Einfach nur hervorragend gegessen und eine einzigartiges Ambiente genossen ☺️ es war ein wunderschön gelungener Abend mit Freunden dank der Kochkunst und der sehr aufmerksamen und sehr freundlichen Bedienung! Ein einzigartiges Erlebnis !

Im März 2022 waren wir das erste, aber sicherlich nicht das letzte Mal im Oben. Der Abend war rundum gelungen, von der Begrüßung bis zur Verabschiedung - und dazwischen lagen viele kulinarische Genüsse und Erfahrungen, in fester und in flüssiger Form. Gekrönt wurde das Essen durch einen Gang in der Küche, bei dem wir die Gelegenheit hatten, dem Chef Löcher in den Bauch zu fragen. Das Oben zeichnet sich nicht nur durch grandioses Essen aus, sondern durch absolute Liebe zum Detail - serviert und erklärt wird das Essen vom Chef persönlich, die Getränke-Begleitung passt auf den Punkt und selbst die Musik hat eine persönliche Note: Von Klassik über Pop bis hin zu Rock. Herzlichen Dank für diesen einmaligen Abend.

Sensationell, ein Erlebnis, das in Erinnerung bleibt. Es wird sicher nicht lange bei einem Stern bleiben. Es war einfach alles absolut stimmig: intimes und ruhiges Ambiente, super freundliche und liebe Menschen in Küche und Service, und natürlich das Essen, was Gang für Gang ein Highlight nach dem anderen war. Mit viel Liebe zum Detail und Herkunft aus der Region. Tolle Weinbegleitung dazu. Ein Gang sogar am Chef's Table. Chapeau.
