A really lovely little restaurant. Authentic cuisine, a super friendly owner, and lots of interesting details about Ethiopian culture on the menu. The food isn't exactly cheap, but you can get seconds if you want more. The food itself was delicious and, despite being labeled "only" vegetarian, is even suitable for vegans. Of course, there are options for meat lovers as well. It's wonderful that we have places like this in Trier!

I found the ritual of washing our hands before the meal, with the offering of soap and water, very fitting. We ate with our hands from a large platter on which the food was served (as ordered): so delicious!!! And everything was gluten-free—even the flatbreads!

A very informal restaurant with a cozy courtyard in the heart of Trier South. African cuisine is a definite asset in Trier, where burgers and pizzas have become the dominant culinary staples. Addis Ababa is an incredibly delicious restaurant! There's something for everyone, even vegans! The service is super friendly and attentive, and the spices are simply delicious. The outdoor ambiance is super nice and cozy. The original coffee was incredibly delicious and the perfect finishing touch after the meal. We'd love to come back here again, even with friends and family.

We were here for the first time today and were thrilled! We had the beef and the chicken. The chicken had a pleasant spice and was very juicy in the sauce. The beef was nicely seared, only lightly seasoned, and served in oil without any sauce. We'll definitely be back!

We spontaneously arrived at the restaurant at 5:00 PM and received a warm and friendly welcome. The four of us shared a platter and easily got seconds after we finished the generous portion. The restaurant itself seems a bit plain, but the ambiance is more than compensated for by the friendly staff and the excellent food.

Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by an extremely friendly, smiling host. We chose to dine outside in the courtyard. The tables and chairs weren't ready yet, but that was quickly arranged. The atmosphere was a bit lacking, but this ensured we could fully focus on the food. My partner and I chose the house special for two (€42). See photo. The host came to our table and had us wash our hands at the table with a jug of soap and water, another first for us. And now for the food: delicious! A teff pancake was the perfect way to serve all the delicious food, and we had to stop regularly to tell them how delicious it was and to lick our fingers. Special compliments to the fish, which was sublime. We would definitely return if we were in the area.

And Abraham is a very friendly host; you can tell he enjoys what he does and is proud of his homeland and its culture. Bottom line: treat yourselves! A big compliment to Abraham, the owner: His warmth, hospitality, and enthusiasm for Ethiopian culture make the visit something truly special. A pure gem in Trier! The food is fantastic and the service is attentive. The owner, Abraham, is so friendly. Our go-to order is the vegetarian platter with extra shiro on the side and we always leave with happy bellies. The injera is authentic, made with 100% teff. If you have gluten sensitives, make sure to tell him and he will leave off the couscous. We have enjoyed having this fantastic Ethiopian restaurant here in Trier and highly recommend it for everyone!

My girlfriend and I love the food at Addis Ababa! This Ethiopian restaurant is a true asset to Trier's gastronomic scene. We can particularly recommend dish 1 and dish 2 for veggies. Both taste so delicious that we haven't had the heart to order anything else What particularly excites us: The dishes are not only healthy and balanced, but also a real taste experience. The many different components on the plate harmonize perfectly with each other and make every meal a little culinary journey. It's something completely different than what you would cook yourself at home - and that's exactly what we love about it. A visit to Addis Ababa is always something special for us. I've been missing a restaurant like this in Trier. Very chicly decorated, very colorful. The African-style art on the walls and the pictures of the city of Addis Ababa complete the overall picture. This draws restaurant guests even more into the enchantment, inviting them to experience the culinary journey to Ethiopia even more intensely :-). The service is also excellent. A highlight for people who haven't been to an Ethiopian restaurant before is certainly the handwashing right at the table (which is important, since injera is eaten with your hands, as we all know). The injera is very varied, as you would expect. The variety of flavors offered on one plate is incredible. Highly recommended, as it was in April 2025 and is still something unique in Trier :-).

The food was very tasty and a plate for 2 was completely sufficient for us (2 people). The host was very accommodating and friendly. When we asked about Ethiopian culture and everyday life, he answered our questions. Hospitality is very important here.

It's nice that there is international cuisine in Trier. It broadens your horizons and is also healthy.

We were there on a Wednesday evening. The restaurant was empty except for two occupied tables. It was very cold, we even had to wear our jackets while eating. The floor (under our table) was very dirty. We ordered the platter including fish and meat to share for 4 people: it was far too little! One wonders if they were children's portions. And it didn't taste good. The waitress didn't ask us again during the entire stay if we wanted something to drink. In between we had disgusting (toilet) smells. All in all: we went in with an open mind and were very disappointed because for these prices you could have eaten much better somewhere else, with a nicer atmosphere. Can't understand the good reviews.

Very friendly welcome from the boss, who ran the place alone that evening. Nevertheless, he was always attentive, never stressed and quickly fulfilled all wishes. We had beef and chicken, both very tasty and very plentiful. We cannot understand why someone before me complained that the portion was too small. We particularly enjoyed the Ethiopian coffee, but unfortunately we had already run out of cake. Overall, a very pleasant evening with delicious food, a little African feeling and an atmosphere like being with friends, just as promised.

Nice place, with lots of welcoming prints and colours, with multiple rooms (but I recommend booking). We took the mixed platter for two people and it was very filling, as well as very good. I can't say if it's 100% original African or with a bit of German influence but the experience was excellent. Short waiting times for food and super super nice owner. It's a shame that the night we were there there were no desserts. Super recommended
