I had a fantastic experience at Adis Ababa in Trier! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was full of authentic Ethiopian flavors—the injera was fresh and perfectly fluffy, and the various dishes on the platter were wonderfully seasoned with a perfect balance of spices. Everything tasted homemade and prepared with love. It wasn't just a meal, but a cultural experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking to try something special in Trier!

We were here for the first time today and were thrilled! We had the beef and the chicken. The chicken had a pleasant spice and was very juicy in the sauce. The beef was nicely seared, only lightly seasoned, and served in oil without any sauce. We'll definitely be back!

We spontaneously arrived at the restaurant at 5:00 PM and received a warm and friendly welcome. The four of us shared a platter and easily got seconds after we finished the generous portion. The restaurant itself seems a bit plain, but the ambiance is more than compensated for by the friendly staff and the excellent food.

Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by an extremely friendly, smiling host. We chose to dine outside in the courtyard. The tables and chairs weren't ready yet, but that was quickly arranged. The atmosphere was a bit lacking, but this ensured we could fully focus on the food. My partner and I chose the house special for two (€42). See photo. The host came to our table and had us wash our hands at the table with a jug of soap and water, another first for us. And now for the food: delicious! A teff pancake was the perfect way to serve all the delicious food, and we had to stop regularly to tell them how delicious it was and to lick our fingers. Special compliments to the fish, which was sublime. We would definitely return if we were in the area.

The three of us spent a wonderful evening here! The food was absolutely delicious! The seating is very comfortable in the various, slightly separated rooms and in the small courtyard. And Abraham is a very friendly host; you can tell he enjoys what he does and is proud of his homeland and its culture. Bottom line: treat yourselves! (The price includes the pictured dish for three people, water, wine, and Ethiopian coffee to finish.)

Cozy decor with a bit of a mix of chairs and tables in different colors (we love it). The outdoor area clearly had a lot of love, but the interior looked great as well. The food was delicious and plentiful.

The dishes were superbly seasoned, freshly prepared, and lovingly presented – the injera with its various vegetable and meat specialties was especially delicious. A big compliment to Abraham, the owner: His warmth, hospitality, and enthusiasm for Ethiopian culture make the visit something truly special. He takes time for each guest and creates a warm, family-like atmosphere. Highly recommended, even with children – friendly, uncomplicated, delicious. A clear recommendation – we'll definitely be back!

A pure gem in Trier! The food is fantastic and the service is attentive. The owner, Abraham, is so friendly. Our go-to order is the vegetarian platter with extra shiro on the side and we always leave with happy bellies. The injera is authentic, made with 100% teff. If you have gluten sensitives, make sure to tell him and he will leave off the couscous. We have enjoyed having this fantastic Ethiopian restaurant here in Trier and highly recommend it for everyone!

My girlfriend and I love the food at Addis Ababa! This Ethiopian restaurant is a true asset to Trier's gastronomic scene. We can particularly recommend dish 1 and dish 2 for veggies. Both taste so delicious that we haven't had the heart to order anything else What particularly excites us: The dishes are not only healthy and balanced, but also a real taste experience. The many different components on the plate harmonize perfectly with each other and make every meal a little culinary journey. It's something completely different than what you would cook yourself at home - and that's exactly what we love about it. A visit to Addis Ababa is always something special for us. I've been missing a restaurant like this in Trier. Very chicly decorated, very colorful. The African-style art on the walls and the pictures of the city of Addis Ababa complete the overall picture. This draws restaurant guests even more into the enchantment, inviting them to experience the culinary journey to Ethiopia even more intensely :-). The service is also excellent. A highlight for people who haven't been to an Ethiopian restaurant before is certainly the handwashing right at the table (which is important, since injera is eaten with your hands, as we all know). The injera is very varied, as you would expect. The variety of flavors offered on one plate is incredible. Highly recommended, as it was in April 2025 and is still something unique in Trier :-).

The food was very tasty and a plate for 2 was completely sufficient for us (2 people). The host was very accommodating and friendly. When we asked about Ethiopian culture and everyday life, he answered our questions. Hospitality is very important here.

It's nice that there is international cuisine in Trier. It broadens your horizons and is also healthy.

We were there on a Wednesday evening. The restaurant was empty except for two occupied tables. It was very cold, we even had to wear our jackets while eating. The floor (under our table) was very dirty. We ordered the platter including fish and meat to share for 4 people: it was far too little! One wonders if they were children's portions. And it didn't taste good. The waitress didn't ask us again during the entire stay if we wanted something to drink. In between we had disgusting (toilet) smells. All in all: we went in with an open mind and were very disappointed because for these prices you could have eaten much better somewhere else, with a nicer atmosphere. Can't understand the good reviews.

Very friendly welcome from the boss, who ran the place alone that evening. Nevertheless, he was always attentive, never stressed and quickly fulfilled all wishes. We had beef and chicken, both very tasty and very plentiful. We cannot understand why someone before me complained that the portion was too small. We particularly enjoyed the Ethiopian coffee, but unfortunately we had already run out of cake. Overall, a very pleasant evening with delicious food, a little African feeling and an atmosphere like being with friends, just as promised.

Nice place, with lots of welcoming prints and colours, with multiple rooms (but I recommend booking). We took the mixed platter for two people and it was very filling, as well as very good. I can't say if it's 100% original African or with a bit of German influence but the experience was excellent. Short waiting times for food and super super nice owner. It's a shame that the night we were there there were no desserts. Super recommended

Definitely suitable for vegetarians and those with gluten intolerance. The ambience is great, you feel really comfortable both inside and in the courtyard. The drinks were forgotten and only came after the meal, which also took a relatively long time. The food itself was quite good, but we found it not enough for 2 people. In addition, the table was still dirty from the previous one, with speed and glasses, rather unappetizing... The service was very nice but was responsible for everyone alone, so it's understandable that everything took a little longer.

The service and hospitality here are just as impressive as the food! We drive an hour on the weekends just to eat here. Our favorite is the vegetarian platter to share. I like to order with mint tea and extra injera. Handwashing and coffee preparation at table side is an extra bonus. Can’t recommend enough!

We ordered the mixed platter and the fish of the day, both were delicious and the fish was especially fresh. All is served with the typical injera. Before eating they let you wash your hands because eating without spoon and fork is very encouraged. The meal becomes a real communal feast and the host is one of the best! Will be back soon!

We recommend! We were pleasantly surprised by the delicious cuisine from Ethiopia. Very healthy and rich in different spices/flavors. We can recommend the dish Addis Ababa Special (plate with a little bit of everything). This can be shared with several people and makes the meal a shared experience. The small but fine restaurant is located on a side street off Saarstrasse. Unfortunately, this means it is a bit away from the city center, but we were able to find enough parking spaces nearby. It is also easy to reach by bus. We were also extremely satisfied with the nice service and the cleanliness. The prices are reasonable for what is offered. It won't be the last time we eat there.

Food was very tasty 😋 Service was very nice, answered all of our questions and didn't let ourselves be disturbed by the large number of guests. Furniture appears to be from the previous owner and unfortunately the heating was apparently only turned on when the first guests arrived. So it was a bit chilly at first when I sat down. We will come back as the rest was really great.
