Very nice hosts with a lot of charm, which you can also find in the restaurant! Plus very tasty Malaysian food :) We'd love to come back!

We came here on a recommendation and were not disappointed, on the contrary - the restaurant, the service and especially the food were great! We had the mango salad and satay skewers as starters and fried noodles with tofu and chicken (Mee Goreng) and braised beef ragout with rice, egg and roasted peanuts (Nasi Lemak) as main courses. Malaysian cuisine was previously unknown to us, but the variety of ingredients and flavors is all the more impressive; you can taste the influences from China and India. If you like Asian cuisine and are looking for a new experience, you should head to Weidenpesch, it's worth it!

I'm surprised why the food tastes like that because I saw it on YouTube where the owner is a chef but the taste of the food was very bland. It didn't taste like what I'm used to and the price was quite high at €17 for a main course, especially for the small portion I got. The water was also too bland and not authentic. However, I have to admit that the staff was very friendly and the service was really good. Still, I'm disappointed with the food, I'm sorry to say. 😔

If you want to go on a short vacation without getting on the plane, you can just go here. It was delicious (I love it when something tastes unusual AND delicious! Winning combination!), the host was very welcoming, and the price was right too. For me it has been a bright spot in Cologne's restaurant sky for a long time. Really a recommendation!

Malaysian food offered by this restaurant is delicious and authentic including the ingredients. I am appreciated that such an authentic Malaysian restaurant in Cologne. Last but not least, the service was super.

For personal reasons, I am familiar with Indonesian cuisine, especially from Sumatra, Indonesia. Rendang comes from there, you can find Rendang everywhere, and I know how long a good Rendang takes to prepare and what it should taste like. Nasi Lemak is also known in Sumatra. That's why I was curious about Abang Toto, so many good reviews. We ordered Nasi Lemak Rendang Daging, a portion of Rendang Jackfruit and one Ayam Percik. The prices are relatively high compared to other Asian restaurants, so I'm only moderately satisfied after eating because the taste of the food is only okay compared to the Indonesian original. And there remains a conflicting feeling between price and performance, as the portions are rather manageable. Just satisfactory for me, 3 stars.

A little pearl on Neusser Straße! The owner loves his restaurant, Asian cuisine and his guests. You immediately feel at home here. The food is excellent and the homemade iced tea is highly recommended - incredibly refreshing!

Maybe the mistake was that we visited it less than a week after our Malaysia vacation, still in full Malaysia madness. The portions were ok, but not good, and the taste was also just ok. The prices were very high. Of course I can't expect a dish to cost €2 like in Malaysia, but I found €17 for a bit of rice with a chicken breast in peanut sauce extremely expensive. Especially because it tasted at least twice as good in Malaysia. In the end we paid €35 ​​per person WITHOUT alcohol (they don't have it there) and 1-2 drinks per person. The service is super nice, but couldn't save my experience. Overall found it disappointing for the price.

Very very good Malaysian food! The host was incredibly friendly and helpful. Prices more than fair! You can even buy some Malaysian sauces here. Very nice atmosphere, small, cozy shop. It's better to make a reservation on weekends and with larger groups. Card payment possible!

Abang Toto's on Neusser Straße is the only opportunity(!) in Cologne and a very wide catchment area to enjoy original Malay cuisine, which has become my new favorite. The food is great, the service is very nice, the prices are okay👌

I had the pleasure of visiting the Malaysian restaurant and I love it! From start to finish it was a wonderful evening. We selected the Chef's Choice menu. The service was simply fantastic - super friendly and attentive. We received extra packaging for the leftovers (huge portions) so that we could enjoy the delicious food again the next day. Overall, it was an unforgettable experience that I would highly recommend to everyone. If you love Malaysian food and want to have a nice evening, then this restaurant is definitely the right choice!

I can’t understand how this restaurant get a 4.9 rating. There were only 3 tables with guests when we were there. But we still waited for our foods fast an hour. If you are hungry or don’t have too much time, it’s better to find another place. And they only speak English. So it’s not easy to communicate with them.

The drive out there is worth it! Super cool shop with very friendly staff including the owner. The food was excellent and I have never eaten so good in Germany. There are also various, very tasty beers from Freedl Non-Alcoholic! We are thrilled and will be back!

We found this hidden gems of Cologne when searching for Indonesian food. Well, Malaysia is neighbor country of Indonesia so let's try it. The restaurant has a simple modern but yet with still Asian atmosphere. Immediately noticed the very friendly service from a lovely young lady who knows well their menus, hence good recommendations given to us. The foods came within good reasonable time. Good temperature. Portion size of main course is big for my Asian stomach 😉, very well priced. When we ate it, the taste was delicious 🤤 Rendang taste great, different to Indonesian rendang served in Indonesian restaurant but I recognize it from home made rendang cooked by friend's mom who originally from West Sumatra (but not from Padang). Great decision that we made it all the way from city center to this restaurant - by trams. Recommended.

I have to be honest and say that we were a bit disappointed after our visit here. Because of the good reviews we decided to eat here. The dishes we chose were tasty, but unfortunately we didn't really feel full. It looks common in pictures, but if you're really hungry, you definitely won't be full. With a price for a main course of €14-17, I simply expect more. Price and performance are not balanced here.

Went with small group of friends and had a wonderful meal. Most of the group was quite familiar with Malaysian cuisine and were very happy with Abang Toto's selection! We had a lot of fun talking to the owner about the various dishes and Malaysian cuisine in general. Also, worthing pointing out that there are plenty of vegan / vegetarian options with varying levels of spice. We will definately be coming back, i'm just sad we waited so long to try it.

I love this restaurant! I have traveled to Malaysia several times in the past and must say that my wanderlust was alleviated by this restaurant. From the food to the service, I was simply thrilled. Next to the food are. The locals who want to taste a piece of home there are open to friendly conversation. It's like being in Malaysia/Singapore or Borneo again. I will definitely come again!

The small, cozy restaurant is very nicely decorated. Unfortunately, we are very disappointed with the price-performance ratio. Unfortunately, the portions we received were not as generous as in the pictures. There were actually 8 peanuts on our plate 😅 The meat substitute was forgotten, but we only noticed afterwards after we saw the pictures in the other reviews. About €16 for a main course that really doesn't fill you up and doesn't contain any particularly expensive ingredients unfortunately disappointed me and led me to this rating. Maybe an individual opinion, try it yourself!

I am revising my last review. I ordered again and this time the food arrived warm and with cutlery. I ordered nasi lemak rendang daging. Was pretty tasty. Unfortunately it was still very oily, but I think the dishes are prepared with more oil, which is ok. The ratio of rice to sauce was a little misjudged as there was a lot more sauce than rice. The red sauce that you can order with it was more sweet than spicy, but very tasty. All in all it was good and I'm glad I gave the restaurant another chance.

As a Malaysian, their rendang beef nasi lemak is very authentic. The fragrance of the rendang beef and rice feels like back home. What is better is the customer service provided by Todd. He is very friendly, and also provides the background of the Restaurant before ordering. Hopefully someday, I can return to taste different orders. Double thumbs up to the Chef and the service!

Sehr leckre Auswahl an Speisen und Getränken. Bei dem Geschmack der angebotenen Biere vermisst man sogar garnicht den Alkohol. Leider war mein Hauptgericht so scharf, dass ich es nicht zu Ende essen konnte. Wer sehr scharf mag, ist hier genau richtig.

Ein echter Geheimtipp! Das Essen war sehr lecker und der Service sehr zuvorkommend. Haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

We had ordered their starters, main and dessert. I'd say that the Nasi Lemak is tastier than the mee goreng mamak, which was too salty. We had given them a feedback about it. (I had read previous reviews from other guests that they too found it salty. A bit disappointed that it was not improved on.) The dessert, kuih bakar, was good that we ordered an extra portion to bring back! Hope to be back to try other food on their menu.

Seit 2020 kenne ich Abang Toto. Damals hatte er noch keinen Laden, also wurde das Essen immer nach Hause geliefert. Als Malaysier war ich immer zufrieden mit der Qualität der Gerichte. Diesmal bin ich im Laden gewesen und wie erwartet, haben die Gerichte super geschmeckt. Ich habe Nasi Lemak Rendang Nangka bestellt und meine Frau KL Hokkien Mee. Service ist top und Ambiente passt perfekt zum Malaysischen Stil.

Ein süßes, hippes und sehr familiär anmutendes Restaurant mit originaler und origineller Küche, es war wirklich alles sehr lecker und wir kommen bestimmt wieder! Kleiner Geheimtipp war der Jackfruit Burger im Milchbrötchen, super Snack!

Wir waren inzwischen schon mehrfach im Deli essen. Und weil es mir immer so gut geschmeckt hat, habe ich zu meiner Geburtstagsfeier das Catering bei Abang Toto's bestellt. Ich kann es rundum empfehlen. Beratung, Lieferung samt Geschirr, das Essen selbst und die Abholung der Behälter am nächsten Tag. Alles war tipptopp! Und nicht nur ich war extrem zufrieden. Auch meine Gäste haben vom Essen geschwärmt.

Essen Das Essen ist echt lecker und interessant, wenn man sich mit malaysischen Gerichten noch nicht auskennt. Wir hatten noch nie ein saftigeres Hühnchen in einem Restaurant. Service Der Service war sehr aufmerksam, hat uns viel über das Essen erzählt und sich immer wieder erkundigt, ob wir das Essen wirklich mögen. Darüber hinaus würden uns einige gute Empfehlungen basierend auf unseren Vorlieben gegeben. Ambiente Der Laden ist sehr aufgeräumt und modern. Dazu sauber, hell und freundlich. Auch unseren Hund durften wir problemlos mitbringen.

Eine echte Bereicherung für Weidenpesch, sehr netter Betreiber, sehr lecker, schöne Aromen auf der Zunge, leicht scharf.... So mag ich es! Ich empfehle euch gerne weiter... Danke 👍

Leckeres Essen in großzügigen Portionen, nette und pünktliche Lieferung und ein freundlicher Kundenservice mit persönlicher Note. Besonders gefallen hat mir die Zubereitung der Zutaten: Hühnchen saftig und zart, Gemüse bissfest, alles intensiv gewürzt und ein bisschen scharf. Thumbs up!

Tasty food, friendly service, easy-going atmosphere

Wir sind auf der Suche nach einem Restaurant in der Nähe einer Konzert Location auf Abang Toto gestoßen und waren sehr begeistert. Das Essen war schnell serviert und hat super geschmeckt, das Lokal ist schön eingerichtet und wir haben unkompliziert einen Tisch bekommen. Der Service ist absolut toll, das Personal ist freundlich und hat sich beim Bezahlen noch Zeit genommen nach Feedback zu fragen und wie wir in der Gegend gelandet sind / auf sie aufmerksam geworden sind.
