Saman Restaurant in Köln

We were only in Cologne for one night and needed something to eat. We ended up at Saman. We arrived around 5:30 a.m., there wasn't a single seat available, and yet we were asked for a reservation, which, of course, we didn't have. They told us they would "still accommodate" us and sat us at a small table for two (the bread alone took up most of the table, while I was being hung with jackets from the basement, as the coat hooks were directly above – and next to – my head, not a good experience). By the time we finished eating, the restaurant had filled up, but there was still room. The request for the reservation and the associated generosity in accommodating us doesn't make for a pleasant feeling for the guest. If the restaurant had been bursting at the seams, I might have felt the "expected gratitude," but instead, I felt more tolerated. Quite expensive: I'm spoiled. I live in Hamburg near a neighborhood with many very good halal restaurants. Here, I sometimes get better quality and pay significantly less. I'm happy to pay a good price for good food, but charging €10 for a bottle of water—phew! You can do it, but you don't have to! The quality of the food was good, the prices were okay, we liked the atmosphere, the service was friendly, but there were too many people bustling around who were "not in charge."

Really great lamb and chicken dishes. Very deliciously seasoned. The appetizer pastes with freshly baked flatbread were also very, very tasty. The service was very attentive and friendly. I would recommend making a reservation. An all-around successful evening at Saman. A true recommendation.

I was absolutely thrilled with my visit to Saman Restaurant. Upon entering, I received a warm welcome and immediately felt at home. The atmosphere is cozy and stylish—perfect for a relaxing evening.

The meal was not only a visual highlight, but also tasted simply outstanding. The kebab was perfectly seasoned and juicy, the freshly baked bread was both soft and crispy. The saffron rice was also particularly noteworthy – light and aromatic. The side dishes, such as the yogurt sauce and the grilled tomatoes and chilies, rounded off the whole dish perfectly.

Super nice shop! The meat quality was very good and the service was perfect! Highly recommended! 😉

Let's start with the bad: I ordered a mixed grill, but unfortunately, I didn't like it at all. The meat (chicken, Adana, and lamb skewers) was simply not tasty and didn't have a good texture. A complete disappointment, unfortunately. The service was otherwise 10/10, as was the ambiance!

We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The welcome was warm and professional from the moment we arrived. The food was delicious, generous, and of high quality. The service was impeccable, with a friendly and attentive team. A place to recommend without hesitation!

Today we had the appetizer platter and the grill plate for two. The portions were generous and extremely delicious. The service was excellent throughout the evening. Parking is a bit limited, but the Kölnacarden parking garage is a few hundred meters away and can be parked without any problems. We rounded off the evening with a cup of tea. The restaurant is highly recommended, and we would be happy to return.

The best kebab and other food I've had in a long time. It's a must-try.

Insanely overpriced, but the disrespect was the reason we ended up not ordering food then we overheard them talking behind our backs. Not sure how it got such a good rating but it definitely does not live up to it. Oh they refused to seat us for our reservation because they didn't believe we actually had the number we reserved for before we were complete. Definitely not the way any place should treat any customer. Update: I want to add that we hated it that we never imagined such rudeness exists! But I am not including all the workers. Just the one with glasses and a suit. I don't care how good the food can be with such treatment. When we refused to order food he told us we need to leave as this is not a cafe. I mean we only ordered drinks to stay with our friends but I would have never stayed with such treatment!

Food was very good, just some items on the menu were no longer available. It was very busy in the restaurant, so I understand it to some extent. However, the desserts were no longer available and that was very disturbing. You shouldn't end your dinner without dessert!

A noble and very vivid location. The staff is super friendly, the Adana Kebap is really very authentic, I have never eaten it here in North Rhine-Westphalia or anywhere else. The freshly baked tandoori bread smeared with butter, which is served as a starter, is fantastic. 🤌🏻All in all highly recommended, I'll be back.

Everything was delicious, it was incredibly busy, and even though we didn't have a reservation, they took care of us very well and helped us.

Really very good food and top service

The food is served in a copper pot, you can never eat it comfortably. We wanted two Adana and one Urfa. There was no difference between the two. I just ate the worst Adana I have ever eaten. The meat wasn't fully cooked, the nerves hadn't been removed, it was a complete disaster. There is only lamb and it smells like meat. I would never choose it again!

Price performance unfortunately a 6/10. Food delicious.

I ate at Saman Restaurant and absolutely loved it! As soon as we entered we were warmly welcomed - the manager Fathi in particular is incredibly friendly and attentive. A real highlight: He noticed a small stain on my sweater and immediately removed it with a special agent - I have never experienced such service! The food was simply fantastic – fresh, authentic and prepared with a lot of love. Every bite was a pleasure. The service was consistently excellent, attentive but unobtrusive. I come from Frankfurt and have tried many Persian restaurants there, but Saman beats them all - at least 100 times better than some of the “well-known” Iranians there. Clear recommendation – I’ll definitely be back!

This restaurant is becoming extremely expensive. One Kunafa for 16 euro? Seriously ?

During our spontaneous visit to Saman, where we walked in without a reservation, we were warmly welcomed and asked to sit at the table, despite the hut being full. I ordered the 46th Adana Kebab (spicy). After a few minutes, the extremely friendly Garçon served us the starter: hot lavash drizzled with a touch of olive oil + eggplant, ezme, yoghurt dip. The main course knocked my socks off in terms of taste, after every bite my palate danced a tango while the meat melted on my tongue like butter. Finally there was traditional, delicious chai. All in one 6 stars and best regards to the maître and his team.

We ate in the restaurant today and it was really great! The meat was incredibly tender and cooked to perfection - a real treat. The service was attentive, friendly and very professional - you felt completely at home. The cleanliness was also excellent, even the toilets were in immaculate condition. A good grill restaurant with the feel of a slightly better snack bar. The people are incredibly friendly and welcoming. It's a bit too loud and cramped. A little more class instead of quantity, and it would be perfect.

We traveled from Stuttgart and were guided by the good reviews – definitely the right decision! The food was delicious. For six adults and two children, we ordered a mixed grill platter for five people, which was perfectly sufficient.

We tried the special dishes at Restaurant — they only serve with a reservation, so it’s better to plan a bit ahead. The food and grilled dishes were actually pretty close to Turkish cuisine. The mixed appetizer plate and the buttery puff bread they serve before the meal were amazing. I’d definitely recommend their homemade ayran. Also, it was nice that the head waiter took care of us personally. We managed to find parking, but it might be tricky during dinner hours.

To put it quickly and simply, the food is amazingly delicious. While they also offer dishes like kebabs, which usually taste similar at every restaurant, it's different here. It has an unusual flavor (well-intentioned), and the atmosphere is fantastic. The way they brought the food to us and demonstrated it to us with fire and coal under the "plate" was extraordinary. The service is brilliant; overall, our visit was worthwhile, and we would come again. I would recommend the lamb skewer for one person with two kebab skewers, costing €25.

Located outside the hustle and bustle of the city, in the Deutz district, near the Lanxess Arena. Parking situation rather difficult.

Ayran needs improvement (suggestion: Persian Ayran or a more sour version), Lavas bread is good but needs to be thinner and crispier with tandoori effect). Meze also needs improvement. Kebab was very tasty, rice was very good. The rest is perfect (service, facilities etc), but our table was too close to the neighboring table.

Food, service and ambience were okay. No better than other Turkish restaurants. In my opinion, high prices are not justified. Bread for the starter was very tasty. But I find it outrageous that there are different prices online than what they are ultimately billed for.
