We always enjoy coming here to enjoy fish when we are traveling in the region on business. The view of the harbor is fantastic. The buffet today wasn't quite as generous as we remembered, but everything was very tasty. The Tide beer is a wonderful local specialty, fully recommended.

A beautiful restaurant at Varel harbor. We ate there every day because we were very happy with the quality, especially of the fish dishes. The terrace is directly at the harbor basin. The service was quick and courteous. Price performance very good. Highly recommended, great ambience, delicious fish!

The AK food was good and that's why we decided to go to the buffet there one day. In addition to fish, there were also meat dishes, which were also good. Since none of the dishes were described, it was a godsend to pick something you liked. Unfortunately, everything wasn't as great as expected, except for one or two meat dishes. For me, I won't go to the buffet there a second time. However, I would do all karts again.

The location is clean, modern and appears upscale. You are seated and can't just sit at a table and this is immediately pointed out. The service is nice. I think it is an advantage to reserve in advance. In the evening the restaurant seems to be popular and was quite busy. The food is very good and there was a large selection of delicious dishes.

We were here in the late afternoon. Cappuccino and the home-brewed beer were fine. However, the red fruit ice cream was a disaster. Vanilla ice cream was tasteless, not creamy. The red fruit jelly was a red, tasteless gelatin mush with 1 cherry and the whole thing was placed on crumbled cream. The service was friendly and reserved. That means...unmotivated. Not recommended!!!!

It's just a miracle, it's right on the Varel harbor. And the buffet, if no one can find anything there, then I don't know anymore.

The outdoor area is of course very beautiful, right next to the port of Varrel. Unfortunately, the interior is now very old and has not really been maintained. Everything seemed a bit dingy. Unfortunately, the buffet was no longer convincing. Of course you can't always invest, but cleanliness doesn't cost a lot of money. Toilet with super dirty trash cans, no soap and generally not clean. We were there for the buffet at lunchtime, so right when it opened. Unfortunately, you can't say that there was already so much going on. I hope the restaurant finds its way back to its former self.

We really liked it, the fish buffet lured us here because we were staying at the Brauhaushotel. The selection was plentiful. There is beer made in-house, which was very tasty. One point deducted for the very young/inexperienced service staff, because we were there for the first time and were not asked and therefore received no information from them about how and where the buffet was to be found. Overall we had a very nice time, we would love to come back.

We ate there with 7 people on August 24th, 2024. Many have been there alone several times, like the two of us. The buffet was again great, the staff was totally friendly and attentive. Once again, EVERYONE was completely thrilled.

We were here today and enjoyed the fish buffet. It was very tasty! A very large selection for a good price. The restaurant is very nicely decorated. Right next to the small harbor you have a beautiful view of the water. The staff is nice even when it was busy. The beer was great, we took some home with us straight away.

Were here for the first time (on vacation) we had the salmon burger and the fisherman's plate. The food was super tasty, service was great. All in all, a great restaurant with attentive staff. When we're back we'll come back.

A restaurant that offers drinks and food for consumption even in the afternoon! And then comes the surprise! Almost all tables are already “blocked/reserved” in the afternoon! Maybe there should be a sign at the entrance pointing out that there are only 3 tables available! You don't need it!

Great restaurant in a prime location with an outdoor area right on the harbor, a nice play area for children. The food tastes excellent, a large selection of fish dishes. The service is very courteous and attentive. The prices are absolutely reasonable.

Wir waren heute auf Empfehlung von Einheimischen da. Der erste Eindruck war, dass man sich nicht auf uns gefreut hat. Kein Lächeln, kein Charme, keine Willkommenskultur. Das Ambiente mit Blick auf den Hafen hat etwas versöhnlich gestimmt. Mit dem Essen waren wir einigermaßen zufrieden. Meine Empfehlung: eine Fortbildung im Service für die männlichen Angestellten!!!

Have often eaten there. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired or did not take place at all. We sat with 16 people for a solid 20 minutes until someone came and took the drink order. These then came simply or incorrectly. Nobody cleared away the empty glasses. If you offer a buffet, you also have to ensure that the dishes used are cleared away regularly. The dishes and glasses piled up on our table until we put them on the neighboring table ourselves. It was still there when we left. There is clearly no head waiter or similar here who can see what needs to be done. There were enough staff, but they were running around in a completely unstructured manner. 1 star for the food, which was ok and one star for the ambience, the rest, well...

We only drank coffee, which was very good.

Were here for the 3rd time today and it was a successful visit again. The service was attentive and the food was served in a timely manner. Despite a sensitive stomach, I was able to tolerate everything again. The home-brewed beer, verse. Varieties that are said to taste very good. The (home-made) cakes look delicious - unfortunately the 4 of us were all full. On top of that, the great location at the Varel harbor! We'll be back soon.

Went there for a buffet dinner last night. That was okay, it wasn't our first time there. That's why we've had a better buffet. The cellars are all friendly and nice but nothing more. There is a lack of organization and cooperation between the waiters. Organization at the buffet is zero. It is not checked whether there is enough food left, you have to ask for cutlery yourself, some of the plates and cutlery were dirty. There is a lot of room for improvement... Unfortunately there is also a lack of cleanliness in the restaurant...

Sehr enttäuschend. Hatten Besuch aus der Schweiz die sich auf frischen Fisch gefreut haben. Hatten Vorspeisen und den großen Fischteller. Der Fischteller sah rein optisch schon nicht gut aus. Der Fisch war paniert und schmeckte nicht. Wahrscheinlich früh vorbereitet und aufgewärmt. Die Bratkartoffeln kalt und der Speck verbrannt. Haben 150Euro ausgegeben. Schade drum!

So I have to say that I am very dissatisfied. Some of the food didn't taste good at all, and the only thing that was somewhat edible were the steamed salmon and the rump steak, shrimp in batter. And the food is very dry and tasteless. The dessert (rice pudding was tasteless and the cinnamon and sugar, there was too much cinnamon and not enough sugar). And there are always flies flying around, which is very unappetizing when you're sitting outside.

The buffet is unbeatable in terms of price/performance ratio. Huge selection, even kebabs! The staff was very friendly and attentive. Only the waiting time at the beginning was a bit long until we received a card. The beer on offer was also very tasty.

We ate here with a large group (registered, approx. 20 people). The buffet was preferred by most. But it was also really delicious and varied, at least if you like fish ;) But you could also order dishes a la carte. Despite the large group, ordering and serving the drinks went smoothly and quickly. The house beer is highly recommended.

We went to Eel and Krab for dinner and ate fish there - beforehand there was crab soup. The crabs in the soup didn't taste good at all, just like the crabs on the fish plate! It wasn't fresh crab. The limandes didn't seem very fresh and the fried potatoes were greasy and not very crispy. Around 9 p.m. it got very loud because the buffet was being cleared away - actually quite outrageous... At most we will come back for a beer outside.

The two of us were in the restaurant last night. The reception wasn't exactly warm, but rather unmotivated. The food from the buffer was horrible. Partially over-salted and dry fish that looked as if it had been there from the day before. Nothing was refilled, even though the strawberries for dessert were almost empty right at the beginning. Even simple side dishes like fries were not replenished. I have never experienced such a poorly organized buffet anywhere. And we like eating buffets because you can always try something new. Definitely not there anymore. The tap system didn't work properly either, so the beer was poured from bottles into glasses. All in all not recommended

Very nice as usual. Was here for the first time around 2015. Toilets always clean! Food great. Employees just great. Also stayed at the hotel in Dangast. Currently under renovation - but not for long. Buffet rich selection!

Went to the Varel harbor again and were guests at Eel and Krabbe. The overall picture is consistent. The service is outstanding, the ambience at the harbor is breathtaking. There is certainly still room for improvement with the food ↗️, but the price-performance ratio is very very 👍 so dear owners did everything right

Spontaner Entschluss hier zu Essen, sehr gutes und freundliches Personal. Hervorragendes Brauhaus Bier/Weizen. Buffet Essen war ausgezeichnet über Fisch und Fleisch in warmer und kalter Variante war alles dabei. Ausgezeichnet auch der Outdoor-Spielplatz und die großzügige Innenspielecke für die Kids! Beim nächsten Besuch im Oktober sind wir garantiert wieder dort zum Essen.

Great fish and meat buffet at an affordable price (summer 24 it was 23€). The food was delicious, the staff was super friendly and attentive. The beer from the Vareler Brauhaus is perfect. In addition, it is child-friendly with play facilities and a playground, as well as a great view of the Varel harbor.

We ate at this restaurant several times while on vacation. The ambience at the harbor in Varel is nice, but very sterile inside. Buffett, however, is mass-produced and unfortunately not served in an appealing way. The employees do their job. The indoor and outdoor play area is great because the kids can play during their stay. Recommendation to the operator: a little more class would be really nice.

We went there a lot in the summer. But on Sunday it was the last time. Eating a complete disaster squid rings fried deader than dead. Everything was overly peppery, my mouth was dead. Meatballs, or whatever they were, were raw inside. Salads hardly anything fresh everything ready mixed. Smoked salmon was not added because there were still 3 dried pieces on it. That wasn't worth a tip for me either, as the service person couldn't even give out €0.30. And the staff is getting worse every year, I can't understand it. The kitchen also doesn't seem to have good staff. Well, we were there last time...thank God there are good restaurants in Varel. The atmosphere outside is very nice, maybe you can have a drink there. That's it .

We were happy with our visit. We ate at the buffet in the evening. It's very worth it for the children, 1.50 euros per year of life. The food from the buffet was always warm. The potatoes ran out occasionally, but they would be refilled after a few minutes. The fish selection is extensive and everything tasted good. I would have liked another rice dish and a fish dish with sauce. There were also schnitzel, currywurst, pudding and ice cream, sweet potato fries, fried potatoes, etc.

The food was great, there was nothing to complain about and the price was absolutely reasonable. However, the service was nothing! Only the bare minimum is spoken. A tray of Alster and Coke was dumped over my lap and my bag. Not a word of apology or anything. (Something like that can happen, that wouldn't be the problem.) When I asked for a cloth so I could dry myself - it was now running into my shoes - they only came to wipe the table. Then I just picked up the pace. The rest of the time my mother and I sat under the table with our feet in the puddle of drinks. There wasn't even an apology when we collected the money, which is a shame. The staff needs further training. The restaurant is still nice and the food was great.

Like years ago, still great. Super delicious food, friendly service. Some people can take a look at the service. There's nothing to complain about except maybe the weather in the north but that's just the way it is. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the evening with a nice wheat.

Sorry, but that could really be better. We spontaneously went to the buffet at 5:30 p.m. The food on offer had apparently been on display for a long time, soaked with fat on the bottom and bone dry on the top. The taste was so-so, absolutely nothing special. This applied to fish as well as almost all other dishes. We then had terrible diarrhea... We are locals here and have been here several times before, but we have never encountered such poor quality. Only the good staff can be rated positively. I will definitely not recommend this restaurant.

Although I heard that the quality of the food had deteriorated, I had lunch there with friends. The plaice was mottled and there were enough small potatoes added. I've been eating plaice since I was a teenager and I've never had any problems. But yesterday this fish tormented me until late in the evening. At the end I had to throw up. The service was very friendly and quick.

On July 7th, 2024 around lunchtime we visited the restaurant “Aal & Krabbe”. We were able to park and lock our bikes next to the restaurant without any problem. After a brief inquiry as to whether we could simply choose a table outside on the terrace and the answer was "yes", we chose a place. The following is positive: - Perfect location - Ate crab soup twice, lots of crabs in the soup - Drinks and food came very quickly To be rated negatively: - Unfortunately, the soup was only lukewarm to cold - Service wasn't as attentive as to whether everything tasted good or was OK. - No thanks were given for the tip and unfortunately it was not done with much joy The conclusion: On the whole, we can recommend the restaurant, because the view alone makes it an eye-catcher and the food and drinks were good!

Make your reservation early or don't show up late, otherwise there may be waiting times. Speaks for eel and crab. Great buffet, something for everyone. A must when we are there.

We were there with 100 people. We were served a delicious cake buffet consisting of various pieces of cake with tea and coffee. In the evening there was an excellent buffet to fill you up. Everyone was absolutely thrilled, including the service and staff. Eel and Crab are worth visiting.

We had the extensive lunch buffet. Fish, meat, salads and side dishes are extensive and tasty. Always my pleasure.

We consciously decided to eat à la carte and not the buffet because we like our food freshly prepared. That's what we thought... What we got was not restaurant quality! Everything happened very quickly: taking the order, drinks, handing out the dishes... but to the detriment of the quality. The Surf & Turf burger was fried to death, the fish was drowned in indefinable cocktail sauces and everything seemed like cafeteria food and completely over-seasoned. The grubby impression of the over-excited waiter in dirty clothes also unfortunately fit into the picture. Positive: the beer from the Varel brewery, especially the naturally cloudy Hopp, was extremely delicious! Conclusion: fish fast food at unreasonable prices. Tip: Quality instead of quantity...and then this proportionality works again.

We visited the restaurant because of the very good reviews. The plaice fillet was extremely thin, which meant that the breading was very overpowering. The fried potatoes were with bacon, which unfortunately wasn't clear from the menu. The Krabby Patty was okay, but unfortunately the many sauces had the upper hand in terms of taste. Unfortunately the overall taste wasn't what we expected.

Wir hatten für 18.00 Uhr reserviert und bekamen ein sehr guten Tisch am Fenster. Unsere Getränke kamen recht schnell, nur leider war ein Glas kaputt, am Fuß gesplittert. Als wir um ca. 18.00 Uhr das Buffet aufsuchten, war vom Fisch fast nichts mehr da. An den angebotenen Gerichten stand nicht, was es war bzw, um welchen Fisch bzw. welches Fleisch es sich handelte. Die Salat-und Nachtischbar wirkte sehr unaufgeräumt und etwas schmuddelig. Der Fisch wurde in kurzer Zeit zwar nachgefüllt, war aber sehr trocken und wirkte, als hätte er schon länger irgendwo gelegen. Der angebotene Rotkohl schmeckte, als wäre er nicht mehr zu genießen. Die Erbsen-und Wurzeln schmeckten leicht angebrannt. Der Wein hatte nicht im entferntesten die Attribute, die in der Karte aufgeführt waren. Der Biercocktail war okay, jedoch nicht herausragend. Das Tollste an der ganzen Sache: Krabben und Aal haben wir nicht gesehen. Passen wohl nicht in das Budget des Buffets. Da dieses aber pro Person 23,50 EUR kostete, jedoch höchstens 10 EURO wert war, können wir als Bewertung nur ein mangelhaft vergeben. Zumindest war die männliche Bedienung sehr nett und zuvorkommend.

The trip to Varel was very worth it! The buffet is very varied, the dishes were presented in an appetizing manner and everything I tried was very tasteful. Unfortunately, I was able to eat my way through the extensive offerings. Booking the table in advance was absolutely easy, the service was okay. The restaurant particularly scores points for its ambience and of course its location, right on the Varel harbor. Here you can just take a walk to digest and then squeeze your full stomach back into the car. This definitely won't be our last gourmet visit!

Everything was delicious and absolutely recommended. The beer from the in-house brewery is unique. The beer glasses with display of ebb and flow Glass are another gag.

In order to have the complete selection, we recommend queuing at the fish buffet right when it opens at 5:30 p.m. Unfortunately we arrived too late, so most of the fish platters were empty shortly before 6 p.m. Only the barely legible, faded chalk writing on the metal frame of the fish plate gave any idea what type of fish it was. Replenishments were only available upon request and then with a waiting period. A line formed at the dessert counter because no small spoons were missing. The fish that I was able to get such as: However, the plaice fillet was highly recommended. Overall, the staff seemed to me to be completely overwhelmed on this May 1st holiday to get this chaos under control. Conclusion: The certainly very tasty buffet is only suitable for guests who are prepared to accept the miserable surrounding circumstances.
