Solid Italian food in a friendly atmosphere

The food was amazing, the ambiance wonderful, but the service really left much to be desired. Our glasses have been empty for half an hour and we weren't asked if we wanted anything else. After asking several times, we finally received a dessert menu. No one came to ask if we enjoyed our meal. I've experienced much better service in less expensive restaurants. Especially considering we only ordered a pizza and an aperitif, we weren't even asked if we wanted a digestif, which I find really disappointing. They clearly don't want to sell anything. Even when we asked for recommendations, they couldn't suggest anything, which is a real shame. I'd assume the head waiter knows his menu inside and out. Sincerely, Restaurant Critic

Very tasty food, pleasant service and environment.

We were here yesterday with the family to celebrate our wedding. We were very pleased with everything.

We ate here as a family in October 2025 and were thrilled! The food was fresh, lovingly prepared, and simply delicious. We were particularly impressed by the quality of the ingredients and the authentic flavors. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel immediately welcome. Children are also more than welcome – a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. A place you'll gladly return to – we'll definitely be back!

Very tasty, lovely ambiance, friendly and prompt service! Nine of us had dinner there, and everyone was thrilled. The food was fantastic—there was something for every taste. I also highly recommend the appetizer platter. The service was courteous and prompt. The restaurant speaks for itself; the setting is very beautiful, making it a wonderful evening. The restaurant just lost two regular customers. A sign on the door reads: The restaurant is cashless. We find this patronizing and impertinent. Hopefully, this will backfire on the restaurant.

We each had the saltimbocca from the daily special, along with an aperitif and bruschetta. The meat sauce tasted "slippery," the meat seemed quite dry, and yet the entire meal was still greasy. The Aperol was watery, and at times, we were forgotten. The location is quite nice, but unfortunately, we can't recommend the restaurant.

We ate a decent pizza. It might not have been quite 5-star, but it was far better than I would have expected for such a tourist hotspot. We ate well and received appropriate and prompt service.

Honestly, the tiramisu was good. The setting was nice too. However, the pizzas (Margarita & 4 Formaggi) were mediocre. And the prices were pretty shameful for the quality/quantity delivered (€16.50 & €13.50 🤑) I don't recommend it.

There were 3 tiny shrimp in my shrimp pasta... the rest was just basic tomato sauce and lacked flavour. So that was really underwhelming. I enjoyed the bruschetta though. The staff wasn't particularly friendly and didn't really try to speak English, they'd rather not speak at all.

I mostly visit the restaurant during the warmer months because I simply love sitting outside, right by the river. The staff is always very friendly, and I've never been disappointed by the food. The ambiance is simply wonderful.

Nice restaurant and good location. But that was it! The food wasn't as tasty as at a real Italian restaurant, and it was overpriced. Unfortunately, the waiter was also very unfriendly and disrespectful.

Six of us had arranged to have dinner together. The food was delicious. As regular customers, you get larger portions. The staff was very friendly. Unfortunately, the Fete de la Music was on, so it was very loud and crowded. Our mistake—we hadn't been aware of the event. We would go there again.

We stopped in for some lunch. The restaurant is beautiful, there's a large outdoor terrace on the riverside. The service was very good and the food excellent.

Food flop, service barely acceptable, Location top-notch You can't call it a friendly welcome; it was as if you were standing right on the waiter's doorstep. Even on the phone, he seemed just about friendly. The food was very simple, so it wasn't a taste experience, rather bland. The veal was far too dry, the pasta was too soft (not al dente), and it doesn't really have much to do with true Italian taste. For these prices, you expect very good service and great food, but both were lacking. The only thing that was top-notch was the location. Otherwise, the restaurant is uninteresting and has little to do with Italian flair.

Nice Italian upscale restaurant, nice drink and food, I had the fruity di mare pasta , it was nice, need a little bit of salt for my taste, but overall we had a really good time. And my colleagues enjoy their dishes.

A lovely Italian restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere. We initially sat outside with a beer and a view of the hustle and bustle along the Leine River – really pleasant. We then spontaneously asked if we could go inside and eat, which was no problem. It was cozy inside, and the service was friendly and helpful. The pizza and lasagna were delicious, and everything was well-made. All in all, a pleasant visit – you can feel at home and spend some time relaxing here. We'll be happy to come back!

Disappointing experience at Amura Restaurant Unfortunately, my recent visit to the Amura Restaurant was not convincing. I was looking forward to a taste experience, but the food left a lot to be desired. In particular, the tomato sauce that was used in four different dishes was extremely tasteless. It was like eating water - no flavor, no spice, just nothing to please the palate. Even after I tried to add salt, the food was disappointing. To make matters worse, the bill for this culinary disappointment was a whopping €70, which completely misses the value for money. In addition, the language barriers with the service staff were an additional challenge. The waiter who served me clearly had significant difficulty understanding German, making it impossible for me to give constructive feedback or even ask for alternatives. Overall, my visit to Amura Restaurant was unfortunately a series of disappointments. From the quality and taste of the food to the communication with the staff, there are many areas where the restaurant needs to improve. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant at the moment.

Das positive mal vorweg.. Der Empfang war freundlich. Es ist und bleibt eine schöne Location, große Terrasse am Wasser, historische Atmosphäre im Innenbereich, wirklich sehr schön! Leider macht es den Rest nicht wett, das ich nicht wirklich das Gefühl hatte beim „guten Italiener“ zu speisen. Tischreservierung ist auch untergegangen, habe dann aber einfach freundlich um den von mir gewünschten Tisch gebeten und auch bekommen. Weingläser waren unpoliert, absolutes No-Go, grade beim Beginn des Abendgeschäfts! Wassergläser wurden nicht abgeräumt. Essen war recht geschmacklos, musste mehrmals nachwürzen..Das Olivenöl was auf dem Tisch stand, schmeckte alt und ranzig!! Geht garnicht! Ölflaschen sowie die Salz- und Pfeffermühlen müssen auch immer wieder mal abgewischt werden. Irgendwie war alles recht unbefriedigend und hatte etwas „schmuddel-Charakter“. Wir gehen auf keinen Fall wieder hin, für mangelhaften „Service“ und mangelhaftes Essen, definitiv zu teuer. Schade war sehr enttäuschend! 😏 Mehr Schein als Sein!

Very friendly staff and great atmosphere

The restaurant is beautifully located on the Leine, with a nice outdoor area. The menu is extensive. The food was very tasty, the starter platter was highly recommended and also the grilled squid. The service in the restaurant is nice, fast and humorous. The only drawback was the location of our table near the toilets, where there were occasionally unpleasant smells.

It was my first time there and the welcome at the entrance was so nice, friendly and funny. A beautiful ambience, great tasteful furnishings. The food was very tasty, and of course the beer too. The expectations were high: we finally managed to go to A.Mura. The Italian restaurant in Hanover's old town on the Leine is repeatedly mentioned in local newspapers because of its wine list - it supposedly includes 1,500 different wines. Well, I haven't counted, but the map is really extensive. If you feel overwhelmed by this (the individual wines are listed sorted by country and region without any further information), you can seek advice. But we didn't take advantage of that, but instead chose a Valpolicella Ripasso, a special Valpolicella method that is rarely available in Germany - which was served to us with the comment “interesting choice”. And we enjoyed it excellently. But we didn't just want to go to A.Mura because of the wine. We weren't disappointed with the food either. Among other things, an Insalata Mare, Linguine Salmone and Lucioperca (Zander fillet; here prepared with a tomato sauce with olives and capers) were excellent. For example, the pike perch fillet was cooked to perfection, just done, but not dry. The sauce was flavorful, but not so dominant that it completely overpowered the flavor of the walleye. In addition, a service that was always attentive and very courteous in fulfilling our wishes. In a pleasant, not too rustic, but not overly modernistic atmosphere. Overall, our expectations were met; the A.Mura is worth recommending.

There is an original Italian carbonara here. Simply perfect!

We spontaneously looked for "shelter" with 4 people during the Christmas market because of the cold and rain. Most of the restaurants were full or the tables were reserved for later (it was only 5:30 p.m.). We were turned down several times and moved on. We had almost given up, but they honestly gave us the chance to warm up and invited us in. It was also completely reserved, but as long as there was still space available (approx. 1.5 hours) we were able to “slip in”. Since some guests didn't come in the end, we were able to stay longer, had a delicious meal, drank freshly tapped Gilde Rubin and were happy about the flexible and well-communicated hospitality! It was definitely a win for both sides! The facility is also very comfortable and the staff is friendly. Thank you, we'll be back!

Yesterday evening I had dinner with several acquaintances...due to Christmas...several groups...it was very well attended...the background noise was very loud...already too loud for a conversation. At the table with 11 people...cramped...not much space. Nice atmosphere... friendly service. Were served quickly. The quality of the food varies greatly...my pizza is OK. also the others' pasta... my counterpart's pike-perch fillet with risotto... said to be the worst thing he's ever eaten. Price wise OK...so be careful what you choose.

Due to the good reviews of the restaurant and the high price level, I dared to order pike perch with risotto. A mistake. I was expecting a pike perch fillet fried on the skin with firm meat and a creamy rice, perhaps finely balanced with parmesan and good pepper. I got risotto rice shaped into a round cake, which had an unusual crispy edge on the outside and consisted of an indefinable mass on the inside. The fish was overcooked beyond recognition. In short: it was the worst risotto I have ever eaten and I felt sorry for the fish for giving its life for such a preparation. The service and the ambience are ok.

There is definitely room for improvement in service. The waiter seemed quite listless. Our reserved tables were near the toilets and unpleasant smells kept coming into the room. The appetizer platter was outstanding. The main courses were good, I would have expected more from the presentation.

I was invisible without a menu card when I sat in front of waiters with my colleagues for 10 minutes. 0 reaction just looked at us and nobody did anything

We waited 10 minutes for the menu until someone finally came to us. All the other tables were given additional candles, but we felt invisible. The waiters walked past us several times without serving us. We used to love this restaurant but now we'll never come back. That's why we only give 1 star, and even that is too much for this restaurant.

We had dinner here today with a large group. Everyone enjoyed it very much. The cappuccino with oat milk was really good! And the young man who served us did a great job. Gladly again!

Die Bedienung, die Bezeichnung Kellner wäre eine Beleidigung für die Performance dieser Bedienung, also die Bedienung hat zunächst die Bestellung aufgenommen und nicht notiert, mit dem Ergebnis , das eine Vorspeise vergessen wurde und ein Hauptgericht falsch verstanden und falsch serviert wurde, was dazu führte , dass ich den anderen Personen am Tisch beim Essen der Hauptspeise zusehen musste. Zuvor hatte die Bedienung beim servieren der Vorspeise mir ein volles Glas Wein über die Hose gekippt , wobei das Glas auf dem Tisch zerbrochen ist. Kein klares Wort der Entschuldigung , geschweige denn eine Wiedergutmachungsgeste blieben vollkommen aus. Es wurde lediglich wortlos ein neues Glas auf den Tisch gestellt. Nachdem Essen dann keine Geste oder Nachfrage , ob alles in Ordnung war , noch eine Frage nach einem Dessert Wunsch. Die großzügige Geste zum Schluss , mir seine Visitenkarte vor die Nase zu legen, mit den lapidaren Worten, wenn ich Reinigungskosten hätte , hier ist meine Karte, war dann wirklich das Letzte . In einem Restaurant dieser Preisklasse , derart unfreundliche und unprofessionelle Personen zu beschäftigen ist eine Frechheit und Beleidigung, die auch zu Lasten des Betreibers geht. Das kann nicht sein und ist auch nicht tolerierbar. Dieses Restaurant werde ich nicht mehr betreten obwohl das hochpreisige Essen gut . Norbert Paul, Hannover

Die negativen Rezensionen kann ich so nicht bestätigen, wir wurden freundlich empfangen und den Abend über gut betreut. Bruschetta und Vitello Tonnato sehr gut! Flasche Lugana (Empfehlung des Kellners) ebenfalls sehr gut, mit 36€ die Flasche schon recht hochpreisig. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Nice shop, centrally located. Right on the Leine and the Leinewelle, a lovely romantic place, especially in the evening. Prices high but ok for the location and service! Seasonally cool offers, a huge wine list where every wine connoisseur will find something!

The ambience is very nice, most of the food was also very good. Unfortunately, despite the waiter's recommendation, the cabonara was very weak. It's also a shame that you can't explicitly book outside when making a reservation and have to sit inside when the weather is good.

Took the waiter almost 20 minutes before he came to take orders. I had a steak (my mistake to order it in Italian restaurant), my wife had pasta - both were average quality, nothing to rave about. Service in general was average as well, which we kind of gotten used to after being in Germany for a couple of weeks. Some places do have genuinely caring staff but some bigger places in a very touristy areas like this one, just don’t care about making an extra effort to please you. I guess just like here in the US, everyone in service industry is lacking quality personnel. Location of the restaurant was the reason we chose it.

I was attracted to A’Mura by the ‘Leine wave’ surf location and the parking area right across where I easily found a space despite it being best dinner time and a lovely warm evening. I also found a table right by the front on the outside terrace after the very friendly young waitress allowed me a look at the menu. There are lots of tasty things to choose from. I decided on the “A’Mura Tres” a mixed plate of my favorite Italian appetizers: Vitello Tonnato, Carpaccio and Ensalata Caprese (Tomato and fresh Mozzarella). I also ordered a glass of Frizzantino. The wine came prompt and was perfectly chilled, served in a lovely tall and clean wine glass and it was a generous amount. The appetizer followed shortly after accompanied by a bread basket. The Vitello was scrumptious, right amount of delicate thuna cream sauce and capers, topped with one of my favorites: a large caper-berry. The carpaccio was lovely and thin, topped with Parmesan shavings and drizzled with a good quality olive oil. And the caprese was actually a good portion of Burrata on a bed of cherry tomatoes topped with a delicious pesto. The entire plate was garnished with crips Rucola leaves. The black pepper mill on the table came in handy. The bread was tasty, fresh cut with a nice thin crust. All in all a very pleasant experience. I would definitely go again for another visit. It’s a great location as well and close to everything.

Pizza Napoli...I love this pizza with anchovies. Already a pleasure with Mario. A red and a carbonara rounded out our order. I have to say, the best pizza since Mario. If it hadn't been for that little broken stem with the Parmesan, which came out a bit checkered... it's a shame, sometimes it's the little things in life that matter. Not everything can and does not have to be perfect. Where can you find something like that, a shady spot under old trees, Pizza Napoli and watching the surfers on the Leine wave... at A' Mura!

We were 11 people and we came without reservation, we didn't have to wait. Friendly staff and amazing authentic atmosphere, though all of the food was a bit too salty for our liking, and for an Italian restaurant, it was nothing special. Overall our impression was good.

A very great Italian restaurant in the city center, the outdoor terrace is already located and the food and service are great. Carbonara is traditionally made without cream, as it should be, and the pizza is also super tasty.

Staff friendly and tried hard, unfortunately the food was very below average. The ambience was certainly due to the general overcrowding of the city center. We primarily ordered pizzas, which we simply cannot recommend given their price-performance ratio. It's a shame, it had potential.

Vor einem Konzert wollten wir ein leichtes Abendessen einnehmen. Die Vorspeisenplatte war köstlich und reichlich und das Vitello tonnato absolut hervorragend. Dazu wurde uns ein Korb mit sehr gutem Brot gereicht. Überaus freundlich und aufmerksam war eine junge Kellnerin die uns dann den Weg zur Basilika erklärte. Vielen Dank. Wir haben draussen gesessen und leider war es ziemlich laut aber ansonsten prima!!!
