Restaurant right on the dike, with spectacular views of the sandy beach and the North Sea. The restaurant has many windows, so the view is excellent. We were a group of four adults and immediately found a table with a perfect view. We were there at the beginning of November, and the restaurant was still quite busy. The food was really delicious, and the portions were generous. The restaurant is clean and well-maintained. The price-performance ratio is good. The staff is very friendly. We will gladly return.

We had a really lovely spontaneous visit to this restaurant. The food was excellent, especially the fish with baked potatoes, which we loved, and the children were also happy with their meals. Even when there was a small mistake with the chicken, it was immediately and very professionally rectified. The service was simply fantastic, and the view was stunning. We can definitely recommend this restaurant! P.S. They even catered for gluten-free options! A big thumbs up!

We ate there while on holiday. The food was perfectly good value for money. The kids loved it, and we enjoyed it too. The view is simply breathtaking, and the service was incredibly friendly.

We were here for lunch at the end of October with a group of five. It was very empty, which was due to the weather and the time of year. The staff was very friendly, we received excellent service, the food arrived quite quickly, was absolutely delicious, and the portions were generous. We would gladly come again.

Great restaurant with a view of the beach and the North Sea. Always worth a visit for a fresh Jever beer. The dishes are also delicious, but we've been missing a little something, like a fish sandwich with our beer. Otherwise, there's nothing to complain about here.

The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Everyone is very helpful. The food was really good; we'll be back :-). It's great to be able to look out over the expansive North Sea while eating. The restaurant also offers small snacks.

We went there as a family. Because of our children, we were taken directly to the side where the play area is located. After about 30 minutes, our orders still hadn't been taken. After we told the waiter at the counter that we would like to order, we waited another 10 minutes. We then left without ordering. Therefore, we can't say how the food tasted...

We came here for dinner today with our dog. The food was delicious and filling. The service team was very friendly and attentive. We never had empty glasses and didn't have to wait very long for our food. You have a beautiful view of the sea while you eat. We will definitely go there again.

The food was truly delicious – highly recommended! The schnitzel with onions, fried egg, and fried potatoes was a particular highlight: freshly prepared, perfectly seasoned, and the schnitzel was pleasantly thin and tender. The staff is very friendly, and the self-service concept is modern and straightforward. Catering is even available from 5 p.m. onwards – another great idea! Overall, a fantastic concept and a culinary delight.

The food was actually really good, but the service was a disaster. There's no waiter service, and no one pays attention to the customers. The online ordering system forces you to tip, so that's completely unacceptable. Otherwise, you pay for the food at the counter and have to pick it up yourself. But if you really want good food, I can recommend it.

This restaurant puts a lot of effort into its food, especially with the stands. The cocktail bar and the chip shop are two examples. It's the pre-departure restaurant at the Schillig campsite. The staff is top-notch; I've eaten there many times. In the picture below, I'm drinking a vanilla milkshake and yesterday, I had a Coke.

Self-service restaurant. The easiest way to order digitally is via the QR code, and you'll receive a notification on your phone when your drinks/food are ready. The portions are large and the food tastes good. Tip: Club sandwich or kibbelinge. Both come with "homemade" remoulade. Error in the digital ordering: The kibbelinge with fries are missing the mayo/ketchup option. We found it by chance as an extra among the kids' menus. Tip for the staff: Clean the underside of the chairs to get rid of the week-old cobwebs.

Great view with comfortable seating in both sun and shade. A very large selection of dishes, including vegetarian and vegan options, and plenty for kids too – fantastic! The fact that you order online and constantly have to check your phone to see if the food is ready for pickup, as well as the rather high prices (for self-service), are completely made up for by the wonderful food. Very lovingly prepared, extremely tasty, and generous portion sizes. I'll be back!

I'm currently sitting in the beach bar at 8° Ost for the first time in a long time... it used to be a passion of mine and a regular meeting place. Today I'm deeply disappointed. It's a Friday evening. Apart from the holidaymakers, I no longer sense any passion here. Unfortunately. It's well decorated... the two employees serving make an effort... are very attentive and friendly. The feeling of earlier times, however, is completely gone. Buy something, sit down and have a drink... and that's it. Only the cash counts. Luckily there are children here whose fun is infectious. The listlessly selected music in this beach bar sucks the last hope out of your body, everything is served very, very COLD and the holidaymaker is offered nothing here except money. The prices are okay and reasonable. But a beach bar with this kind of feeling has, in my opinion, completely lost the spirit of why it should be there for holidaymakers. I'm very disappointed. The order was ready quickly, and the cake and coffee were delicious. Unfortunately, they only serve soft serve, and the waffle and iced coffee flavors aren't that great. The cakes, however, are incredibly delicious. The service at the counter is friendly, but the terrace is self-service, including clearing up.

Unfortunately, we can't agree with the other reviews regarding the quality of the food. The fish tasted frozen, was somehow undercooked, and tasted only of oil; the fried potatoes were also swimming in oil. We only ate part of the meal. This was our first and last time here at 8° East. I would also like to mention that, given the prices, you wouldn't necessarily expect self-service.

I really appreciate the restaurateurs and their staff. They are very friendly, customer-focused, and family-friendly. They are innovative and continually developing their concepts. I really like the selection and quality of the food. 🥰

Nice ambience, modern decor, beautiful view, but unfortunately the food itself wasn't particularly good.

We went to the restaurant today. First of all: The staff was very friendly! The ambiance was clean and nice. Unfortunately, the food wasn't that great. The fish was thickly breaded, dry, and tasted like frozen (four different varieties in total). I rarely rate a restaurant three stars... But right by the sea, I really would have hoped for more. They probably lack some competition locally ;). What a shame!

The ambiance is super nice. Great view. But... The food was unfortunately not worth the money. Both in terms of taste and quantity. We ordered outside using a QR code, and a tip was automatically added, which made us wonder... What for? (We order ourselves, clear up ourselves, and pick up our food at the counter.) The service staff on site are very friendly and happy to explain the system upon request. Inside, there's a service area and a non-service area, meaning self-service. Outside is completely self-service. Downstairs is the beach bar, which belongs to the restaurant. We ordered fries with currywurst there. I've never eaten such a bad currywurst. The sauce, I don't know how to describe it. The sausage was like rubber. The fries were okay... The prices for drinks are outrageous!

We first visited the restaurant at lunchtime to fortify ourselves under the covered terrace before the rain. The digital ordering option via QR code is particularly noteworthy – it's straightforward and user-friendly. For guests who prefer traditional ordering, there's the option to order directly inside. In the evening, we returned with the family for dinner. With the exception of the kibbelinge, which were a bit lacking in flavor, we were impressed by all the dishes. The overall package of service and food was excellent – we'd be happy to return, whether for a drink or a relaxed dinner.

I was pleasantly surprised by the modern concept. Ordering via browser. Email notifications when drinks/food are ready. Everything we ordered was really good. The restaurant is clean, modernly decorated, with plenty of space and a small children's corner. Beautiful views of the sea and beach.

Let's start with the good: the service is outstanding, and the portions are quite generous considering the price. We were more than full: the schnitzel and fish platter. The fries with the schnitzel were quite good, but the mayonnaise was a bit lacking. The fried potatoes on the fish platter were unfortunately not good: very oily and barely cooked, more like boiled in fat. The fish was great. The service is very child-friendly and otherwise very prompt. Top! Unfortunately, during our visit, there was no way to wash our hands after using the restroom - the sink was broken. It's absolutely sweltering, especially when the sun is shining - even in the evenings, when it gets chilly outside, it's really hot inside. We also had a few flies on the windows, which quite often flew towards the food while we were eating. It was a bit annoying. This could definitely be improved. Otherwise, the decor is modern and contemporary. If the shortcomings are corrected on my next visit, I will update my review. I wasn't too strict with the stars either, as I assume these are temporary defects.

We've eaten there quite often over the past few days. Unfortunately, today was our last visit, as our vacation is over. If we had the chance, we would give the service 15 stars. Not only was the service extremely courteous and hospitable to the guests, but from the trainee to the restaurant manager, we always received a smile and a kind word. Thank you for that! You're making it very difficult for us to say goodbye.

We've been here several times and each time it's different. Last year we were served (and I think we were served in April 2025 too), now it's self-service. I get my own drinks, fine. But having to order and pick up mediocre food for a lot of money has more of a cafeteria feel to it. You can sometimes get better and cheaper food nearby and still be served. Please don't tell me that you can't find any staff, because there are enough of them running around. What's the point of having apprentices if they don't learn what makes a restaurant professional (carrying plates, serving, etc.)? The location is great though. Nice on the beach with a view of the North Sea.

The food was okay, but the portion was very small for the price. There were only six pieces of kibbeling. It's very cheeky that when paying by mobile (Google Pay or credit card) (why not PayPal?), a tip is mandatory (5%, 10%, or 15%). You can't pay without one of these and ultimately have to pick up your food from the counter yourself. What's the point of tipping if there's no waiter and you have to do everything yourself? First and last visit.

The food is "better" chip shop fare. Better in quotes (!!!). It's at room temperature at best and is probably frozen. Nothing against frozen food, but please not in a restaurant like this. You can't really call it service, since it's self-service. We gave the restaurant two chances. But now: never, ever! Nice ambiance. Terrace with a view of the sea 🌊

Two of us ate there. There are two areas – one with regular service and a large self-service area. The service was excellent. All the staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was excellent, very tasty, and served quite quickly. The live music outside was lovely, and we really enjoyed the evening. Highly recommended.

Unfortunately, the food was very greasy. I ordered it online, which worked very well. However, when you HAVE to tip even though you can pick up and clear away the food yourself... it's incomprehensible. The service during pickup was very friendly, but unfortunately, it remained a mediocre standard and thus significantly below our expectations.

Four of us went there to eat this evening. Unfortunately, it was nothing at all. The service is always attentive, but nothing more. The food was a disaster. The top buns on the burgers had probably been in some toaster or something for a bit too long. The kids ate around them. The Pollo Fino was the highlight: three times plated chicken breast with fries, which was unfortunately all that was on the plate. I had the fruity curry; the vegetables were tough, the chicken was tough, and it was swimming in the sauce, which wasn't good either. Leaf salad—all in all, unfortunately, quite bad. And the chef walks around the beautiful restaurant with his arms crossed. Unbelievable.

I had made a reservation for 5:00 PM this afternoon. When we arrived, there was a sign on the door saying the restrooms were broken. While our waiter was super friendly, the food was terrible. As if that weren't enough... flies... on the windows, constantly buzzing around us. €89 was quite steep for such a bad experience. Won't be coming back.

The view is truly amazing. There's no service at all, as it's self-service, and you have to order over your phone. They charge a service fee of about 5% even though you're not served. My meal was okay. But my husband's meal was extremely greasy, and the fried potatoes were left over. The kibbling was also extremely greasy. It's a shame, because otherwise it would have been delicious. The place is really beautiful, and the view is amazing.

Nice view for your meal. But it still feels like a snack bar. No thanks to that condition! You have to get your own food from inside. The shrimp appetizer is really not worth the €13.90. Given the prices, you really expected better.

We had a burger and a bowl! Everything was ready in no time, and the QR code ordering concept worked really well! The food was delicious, especially the chicken bowl, and the value for money was excellent. The interior of the shop is very modern and stylish. We'd love to come back!

Update 2025: The owners have changed and made some changes to the exterior and interior, and they've certainly invested heavily. It's become a well-run self-service restaurant, which is OK, and the food is still top-notch. However, they seem to have cut corners in the restroom area. I find the solution that requires people with disabilities (including women) to walk right past the men's urinals in the men's restroom particularly unfortunate! I find that undignified 🥺 Old report: The food was delicious, orders are served one after the other. We had kibbeling with garlic sauce and fries. What irritated me a bit were the prices (summer 2019): Kibbeling €6.50, a dollop of garlic sauce €0.80, and fries without mayo €3.00. It's probably just the usual beach tourism markup.

The price-performance ratio is a disaster. Self-service at almost €20 per dish is also outrageous. A 60-minute wait for the food. Many dishes are frozen and generally very poorly prepared, especially the burgers, which are simply embarrassing and worth €5 at most. The location and view are very nice.

We ordered bread with two sauces. It came with toast, cocktail sauce, and yogurt... FOR €7.60!! Never again...

There were three of us here. The food took about 20 minutes to prepare – okay. The drinks, however, were thankfully ready very quickly. The bowl we ordered was – as usual – cold, which is to be expected with such dishes. What was disappointing, however, was that even the expected warm ingredients, such as the chicken strips and the baked cauliflower, were lukewarm at best. The same applied to the other two dishes – schnitzel, fries, and baked potato – which were also only at room temperature. For just under €80 (three dishes, three drinks), the value for money is simply abysmal. We've been here several times on previous vacations – this will probably be the last time for a while. The ordering system is worth highlighting: you can conveniently order and pay from your table using a QR code, and you'll be notified later when you can pick up your food and drinks at the counter. However, we find it downright cheeky that a minimum of 5% tip is preset when paying online – even though you pick up your food yourself and have to return the dishes yourself afterwards. Self-service, food could be hotter. An Asian-run restaurant serving German cuisine. We weren't impressed.

The restaurant is slightly elevated, so you have a good view of the water. We had a lovely outdoor seating area. You have to get your own food and drinks, but that didn't bother me. The staff was very friendly. The food was delicious, and it was a really good portion of fish. (The fried potatoes were underneath the fish, so you can't really see them in the picture :-))

It's a self-service restaurant with the option to order at the counter or via QR code. We tried both, and both worked. The staff is very helpful and friendly. We got a table for seven people inside on a Sunday evening without a reservation but with a short wait. The price/performance ratio is decent, and the selection is sufficient. The portions could be a bit larger, but they're still filling. The ambiance is, of course, very nice, with a panoramic view.
