1980 Cafe und Banh Mi in Düsseldorf

Prices significantly higher than other Vietnamese. The noodles weren't completely cooked through, so I didn't eat them. Waitress asked that I pay tip.

The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The food was A M A Z I N G. Going there again for sure.

We were here for the first time today and were very satisfied. The food was delicious, both vegetarian and meat, and the service was good. The restaurant is also very nicely decorated :) we always try out Asian restaurants in Düsseldorf and have... felt comfortable here. The only thing I could comment on is that the Msuik could possibly be a little quieter.

Today I recommend this very nice Vietnamese place, 100% specialised on vegan food. Place is nice and bright with large windows, food is delicious, I enjoyed the Flamingo Bowl today, see photo, and I will certainly return.

Very nice shop with a great atmosphere. The service was super friendly and quick. I chose the mango curry with baked duck. I really liked the dish because the meat didn't taste cooked at all and was stringy. The curry itself was beautifully fruity and creamy. Overall, a really great meal. My friend's food was equally pleasing and was well received. The price/performance ratio is very good. The portions are generous, the service is attentive and the atmosphere makes you feel comfortable. For me everything fell into place.

The food was OK. The dishes were very classic. The prices were rather high. The beer tasted a bit stale. The cocktail is too sweet. We wouldn't come again, there are much better restaurants in the price segment and with better cuisine.

Mango salad was great Sommerro for €7.50 could be described as outrageous, a roll in four parts and less noodles and more vegetables would at least have been comforting. It's a shame we always enjoyed coming here.

Totally thrilled. The menu was very clearly laid out and, above all, not too crowded. The food was ready quite quickly. The place wasn't crowded for a Friday evening either. Service was friendly and competent. The decor was a real eye-catcher and the homemade lemonades were a dream. Gladly again.

There was no allergy indication on the menu. They sprinkled a lot of peanut powder as a topping, but I don't know why they didn't mark it. Small bugs come out of rotting vegetables. The noodles are cold. I'm surprised that the rating is so high. The store is pretty.

Some 10/10 Pho and duck curry; the pho was light but flavorful and the curry had some strong flavors, so for those who are looking for variety of tastes this place is great. The servers were nice and welcoming

Unfortunately, the Bahnh Mi's are not tasty and have little to do with the delicious dish from Vietnam. Ready-made baguettes are used here (recognizable by the cross pattern on the back) and sold for a high price with some toppings. In comparison, you can get better things for half the price at a normal bakery. Please take them off the menu straight away, because the shop also has delicious dishes.

Unfortunately, it's somehow getting old. The food no longer tastes the way it used to. Everything is a bit of a path. Furthermore, homeless people repeatedly came to the table during the evening and asked for money. The atmosphere was therefore rather depressed and not so nice. OMG!!! One of the best Vietnamese food I have ever eaten, must come for everyone who is in Dusseldorf.

Very nice restaurant. Staff is friendly and quick. There is real restaurant service in this store. Why do I mention this? In Düsseldorf you can find a lot of so-called “semiservice”. That means that as a guest I have to do everything that I don't feel like doing. Anyone who likes Asian or Vietnamese food will be happy here. The best summer rolls I've ever had.

We have been here several times now and can only recommend it. Be it the homemade lemonades, pho, or the summer rolls. It is always delicious and freshly prepared. The service is also very nice and helpful.

I had the Banh Mi Chao, a sort of mixed hot plate. Everything on it was delicious except the meat. It was a disaster – tough as a shoe sole. I don't know if that's always the case or if the chef was having a bad day. The salmon dish from the weekend menu, however, was fantastic.

A reservation over the phone was quick and easy. When I arrived I was greeted warmly, although the staff seemed a bit cold and distant. There is a good selection of different dishes from Vietnamese cuisine without being overwhelmed by the selection. After a few minutes, the homemade lemonades we ordered arrived. I had the “Galaxy Soda”, which was fruity and appetizing, with a nice color gradient in the drink. A real eye-catcher. The waiting times for the main courses weren't long either and all the dishes came at the same time. The food was presented “interestingly”, although the presentation of the noodles was a bit over-staged for my taste. These were hung on a stand, which is why they unfortunately dried out in the air, became a little sticky and were no longer completely warm. In addition, the curry splashes onto your clothes when you take the noodles out. Nice visual idea but unfortunately not well thought out. A very tasty curry. My noodles were chewy, the vegetables were fresh, the tofu, as described, crispy. The sanitary area leaves something to be desired. There are cleaning products lying around, a torn wall in the toilet, urine on and next to the toilet seat. Toilet door locking mechanism partially defective.

Fast, almost too fast serving. The noodles had probably been ready all day and the soup was completely over when the order was placed. No vegetables, chilli or lime on the side unfortunately. Lots of bean sprouts that weren't in the freshest form either. €4.50 for a small glass of iced coffee (inc lots of ice).

Food was not bad, however the rest is really not good. The service is very slow and not very welcoming. We were 2 people and were asking for some table away from the entrance, however were denied other tables since it was apparently reserved for more people. Fine by me. What bothered me were two things: 1. The whole restaurant had multiple vacant tables and it was 20.30, there is no way any big groups will arrive... 2. 10mins later, 2 people arrived and were seated at our denied table... Come on! Tip: Train your staff to be more friendly and use more waiters. ;)

It was a very, very nice evening at To1980 - we've already decided to eat there and can't complain. The food was delicious and the staff/service was very nice. Always happy again 🥰.

To1980 - Vietnamese Street Food is an insider tip for Vietnamese cuisine! The atmosphere is cozy and authentic, the staff friendly and attentive. The phở soup and bánh mì sandwiches are absolutely delicious and the ingredients are fresh. The drinks menu also offers a great selection. Price-performance is top. Highly recommended, I'll definitely be back!

Great Food, toilets smelled weird and a little bit pricy

We had lunch at this restaurant and it was a very enjoyable experience. The decor of this restaurant is very nice, and the people working there are very friendly. They spoke very good English so we didn't have any problems communicating. The menu describes items in both German and English. Pho soup that I ordered was delicious and the noodles with duck that my friend ordered tasted great as well. I can definitely recommend this restaurant.

I ordered a vegetable curry with tofu. When I received the food, I noticed that there were mushrooms in it (not mentioned on the menu). Unfortunately, I am allergic to mushrooms and told the waitress about this. I also said that unfortunately it wasn't written on. Long story short: I had to pay for the meal and was not offered anything else. Service a disaster. Nothing like this has ever happened to me.

It's difficult and uncomfortable. When we ordered, the staff's attitude was not friendly at all. We spent money on food and paid the full amount. We understand that you are busy, but you may have to wait a while to receive a response. However, once you know we want to order food, all you have to do is look, sit down and talk to your colleagues. Long service, lack of experience, no respect for customers

We've eaten in a lot of restaurants, but the mango curry here is my absolute favorite food and always my highlight of our visit to Düsseldorf :) Absolute recommendation 🫶🏻🌸

When I visited the charming Vietnamese restaurant To1980 in Düsseldorf, I was immediately impressed by the warm atmosphere and friendly staff. The staff were extremely accommodating. The menu offered a good selection of Vietnamese specialties. From fresh summer rolls to aromatic pho soups – every taste was catered for here. The dishes were prepared quickly and I could literally taste the fresh flavors of the ingredients. The combination of sweet, sour, salty and spicy was perfectly balanced. In conclusion, To1980 is a place where you can enjoy authentic Vietnamese cuisine to the fullest. If you are looking for a culinary adventure, you should definitely plan a visit!

Beautiful restaurant. The atmosphere is nice. It’s clean and not too loud. The service is friendly and efficient! They want to get you fed! And the food is super! We got the chicken banh mi, classic pho, and paradise bowl. The pho is so good. A nice clear salty broth with a lovely fragrant flavor and a little sweet. The banh mi was crispy and delicious.

Can I start by saying that this restaurant is totally vegan but - if you aren't vegan - you are still going to love it. Fantastic food. Good sized portions. Excellent, attentive and efficient service. Pleasant area with good ambiance. Reasonable prices. 500ml carafe house wine only 12 euros. Comfortable, well decorated, friendly staff and delicious food. Warning. Very popular. You need to book.

Decent food and drink, mediocre service and starters The main courses are pretty decent and so are the drinks. Don't waste your money and skip the starters, they all taste pretty bland and flavorless. The service is awful, especially the two young Asian waitresses. They ignore when you call for them and when you are asking something, they just leave in the middle of you talking. Also one of them made us switch tables after we had already ordered because she wanted to make table for another group.

We dined here with a group of 9 people. The food was great - tasty, freshly prepared and authentic. The To Peanut Curry is highly recommended. For my taste the portion could have been a bit larger. Otherwise we were completely satisfied.

We asked for crayons for our daughter, the answer we got was we don't have that many. 2 would have been enough. Then on to the food, I have never eaten such greasy and overcooked spring rolls. We left the 2nd portion, this also applies to our main course, because we had become nauseous from the (pig) smell of the vegetarian spring rolls. Never again! Waste of my money.

Food wasnot great there were even a couple small hairs in my girlfriend's food. Not worth the price. We waited about 45 minutes for the food and after another 15 minutes just to be able to pay. Afterwards both my girlfriend and I felt a bit sick.

Overall quite good. Favorite was for sure the mixed starter plate. Everything on it was simply delicious. Had two curry's which were okay. The base was good but tofu was not as crispy as hoped and a few pieces had a bitter aftertaste. The drinks were amazing too.

Food and service are just average. We ordered 2 different dishes (Cha ca La Vong - fish, Bun cha - pork) but surprisingly they use same tomato sauces, which are not supposed for any of these dishes, plus adding them an irrelevant taste. Service is also slow, took us a quite to call waitress. After this unpleasant experience, we are not happy to tip while they expected that and ‘complained’ with each other in Vietnamese that there is no tip at all?!

I ate outside and received wonderful service. Ate a delicious Pho 🍲. Iced tea was also delicious and beautifully presented. I would come back at any time when I am in Düsseldorf. 😻

I ordered a total of 3 dishes. waited more than 1 hour, maybe 1 hour and 30 minutes and gave me a dish. But the funny thing is that while the people who came after me got their food and enjoyed it, we had nothing. We asked and decided to leave, then the food was brought. will no longer be interested in enjoying the food. I feel unappreciated and will never come to the restaurant again.

Our favorite Vietnamese restaurant whenever we are in town. This time I had Bun Ngan aka Duck bamboos soup, banh mi chao, Vietnamese coffee. Last time I had Bun cha and Banh mi , were also good. 100% authentic Vietnamese foods. Kid friendly and great service. Highly recommended!

So busy that we reserved a table and I wish we hadn't bothered. Stood there waiting and it would not have hurt to say I will be with you in a minute, then finally got a table. I wish I had walked out. The food ordered was tasteless, noodles in water? (I didn't order noodle soup) with tofu, lettuce, a few peanuts but absolutely no taste whatsoever. The food is also not cheap at all and having made the waiter aware the food was not good and he did absolutely nothing, he should be ashamed. So many better places to go, please don't spend a fortune on poor quality food.

The quality and taste of the food was good, but there wasn't enough rice on the plate and my companion didn't have enough noodles. The amount of vegetables was good, but too many sprouts. Unfortunately, most of the meat was only offered deep-fried.

This is the best Vietnamese food I ever had. Every dish we ordered was cooked to perfection, with an amazing balance in taste and good value for what you pay (Portions are insane). If you're in town do yourself a favor and visit this hidden gem. I can't recommend something specific because everything was delicious! As a tourist in Düsseldorf, this was the best restaurant choice I made. Fresh and wholesome 👌✨

Very very very tasty food. Decent portions, prices okay. Nice atmosphere, ok inside and outside, right on the street but the side street doesn't make much noise. The service was very friendly and drinks, food and bill came very quickly. Cocktails look very tasty, but the 1980 non-alcoholic iced tea was quite bitter and I couldn't drink it. We had the 45 and 48: Crispy duck with mango sauce, vegetables and rice and crispy duck with red curry noodles and also lots of delicious vegetables. Plus the summer rolls as a starter. Definitely recommended! We will come back next time we visit Düsseldorf.
