An authentic Vietnamese restaurant with great food in a central location, easily reachable on foot from Neumarkt. We had beef pho soup and it was delicious. We'd gladly come back again!

I went after reading the reviews and it was really delicious! If you don't like cilantro, you might want to ask for it to be left out. They seem to give you more than other rice noodle places (I ate a lot).

A loyal customer for ten years, delighted from day one by the combination of delicious dishes, good wines, and absolutely fair prices. This owner-operated restaurant is a gem, and you can feel the passion behind it.

Good Banh Mi and excellent Pho Bo

I've been here a few times and have never been disappointed. The banh mi are always fantastic – especially the one with crispy pork belly, which was on the daily specials menu today. The Vietnamese coffee is excellent. However, please note that they only accept cash.

The bread wasn't fresh. It had been frozen and reheated in a toaster, and was partly burnt and crumbly. The sandwich fillings weren't very good either.

A very authentic restaurant with delicious dishes and homemade iced teas. The pho and banh mi are particularly noteworthy. The indoor seating area is quite small, but the outdoor seating is very pleasant when the weather is nice.

It just so peak, one of the top places in cologne where i could go every time. Just 10€ for such excellent food, service also very nice and the atmosphere is just so cozy. The location is also great, 5 minutes away from Neumarkt but you don't hear any loud noise and no traffic.

The food was delicious, as was the Vietnamese coffee. The staff were friendly. The only negative thing is the restrooms; they're dilapidated.

The price/performance ratio is very good. We visited this little restaurant again and can only confirm our first impression, but I would also like to say that we liked it even better than before. The dishes are excellent, as are the ingredients. The staff are very friendly. There's a lot to discover, including special beers, delicious wines, and a varied dessert menu. A must-try. Enjoy! I visited this restaurant on the afternoon of September 17, 2025. Unfortunately, the service from one young female staff member (wearing a white shirt and glasses) was extremely disappointing. When I went to pay, she looked cold and impatient, offered no explanation after I had paid, and did not even respond when I said “thank you.” Her attitude was very impolite and left me with a poor impression. It is a pity, because the restaurant itself is nice – the environment, the food, and the service from other staff members were all good. But her behavior seriously affected my overall experience.

Questionable service. Orders weren't taken for a long time. Cutlery wasn't brought. Very slow, unfriendly. No card payments. Rather questionable. Food was OK, not heavily seasoned.

A quiet neighbouhood vietnamese place in the center of Cologne. We had the shrimps banh mi, and one of the soups they offer. The menu consists of about 10 items, 4-5 of them is banh mi, so you’ve not got a huge selection. The soup with the noodles was decent. The banh mi too, but the shrimps were not prominent enough with all the sauce they put in the baguette. Its a good spot for a lunch if you’re nearby.

The seasoning on the batter was right, and the texture made the sweet potato tempura especially appetizing. While it’s not the delicate, flower-like style of Japanese tempura, I was surprised that they are making this sweet potato fries different other places. I’ve visited this restaurant about four times now. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of their pho. It’s not spicy, and additional garnishes like lime or chili aren’t offered separately—instead, everything including herbs and bean sprouts comes pre-mixed in the bowl. (which is not uncommon!) In beef pho, the doneness of the meat is crucial. If it had been exceptionally tender or memorable, I’d recall it more clearly—but I guess the meat was not particularly on the tender side. I think I’d be most satisfied if the amount of herbs and bean sprouts were doubled, and if lime and chili were served on the side. The portion size is not too much, but it wasn’t a bad bowl of pho by any means. I’d still recommend it to most people.

Visiting from Hamburg and discovered this gem near Neumarkt! I was really craving a good pho — and it did not disappoint. The broth was incredibly flavorful, the chili brought real heat, and the banh mi was amazing. I had a wholesome late lunch topped off with a refreshing calamansi juice, perfect for a hot day. For a moment, it truly felt like I was back in Southeast Asia. Super satisfying experience!

For me, this is one of the best vegan pho in Cologne. I love the amount of mushrooms and cilantro in the soup. The sweet potato fries are also unbeatable and even impress the non-sweet potato fans in the group. The service is good and the prices are absolutely fair. The outdoor seating is really nice. If the weather is bad or it's too cold outside, the restaurant unfortunately offers limited indoor seating.

Tucked in a cozy little corner, this Vietnamese café is my crunchy craving hero. Not my first visit (I’m basically a regular at this point), and it never disappoints. When your pregnant friend suddenly declares she needs something crunchy like her life depends on it—this is the place that pops into your head. Sweet potato fries? Crispy like a snack dream. Banh mi? That bun is crunch on the outside, soft like a cloud inside. Every bite? Total satisfaction.

A cozy little restaurant with a great ambience. The selection is rather small, but of higher quality. Ideal for a leisurely meal during your lunch break. The vegan options are also excellent.

We had a super delicious Vietnamese coffee with confit egg yolk here. This was just as tasty as in Hanoi and is an absolute recommendation. The service was super friendly and the atmosphere made you feel comfortable. We didn't eat anything. What was served at the neighboring tables looked just as delicious. We will definitely come back on our next visit to Cologne.

I ordered everything I wanted, prepared to take out any leftovers. The rice noodle soup was enough to melt away all the fatigue. That hot and rich broth... it was crazy. It's the best pho I've ever had.. The banh mi classic is also really delicious! The combination of the baguette's moderate crispiness and the toppings and sauce inside was crazy... I have to come to Cologne again to eat this🥹

The best Pho Chay I've eaten in Cologne so far. Really incredibly tasty. Price wise also okay. Baguette wasn't special for me, but I would come back every time for the authentic vegetarian supper. Also to try more. 👌

Excellent food!!!! Excellent service. Definitely recommend this tiny place! It also has 3 years of Gault & Millau recommendation plaques at the entrance. If you’re craving some authentic delicious Vietnamese food, this is it.

Very nice and small place with Vietnamese dishes. The service was fast while we were alone, but once it gets full it becomes more difficult for one lady to run all the tables. We took Pho Bo with veal tongue and it was great. The place takes only cash for the moment of this review, so be aware!

Top 10 best pho in the world. I had pho in so many countries, continents, states, etc. and this pho has made it to my top 10. I also tried other pho in Köln and this pho was for sure the best pho in Köln. I regret wasting my calories on the other pho. Don’t waste your time and calories and just come here for pho that literally heals anything wrong with you.

The Bánh Mi was recommended to me as an insider tip. It's a bit hidden, but close to the Neumarkt and is quite nicely decorated. The menu is very manageable, we ordered the Bánh mì bò kho (veal ragout) and the Banh Mi Classic (a filled baguette), the baguette was a bit small, instead of the ragout, Phở bò (Vietnamese noodle soup) was delivered. Both dishes were tasty. What you have to like: Because of the open kitchen, you smell strongly of kitchen fumes after your visit.

Very tasty and fresh and the drinks were great too. The only small criticism is that the banhmi is priced quite high for the size or amount of content.

Came across it somehow by chance and became my personal "happy place" in 1980: Sensational seasonal salad with papaya! Various Bánh Mì and Phở Chay: Mega! Service staff are not only friendly, but also attentive.

This is a very special restaurant. There is no “box” that fits. Respect! Originally run by Vietnamese, but not traditionally but in a new creative stylish way. Stimulating. Very international concept. The old is connected to the new. And a lot of hip elements were also introduced. The restaurant is incredibly popular among today's younger generation. Older students will not feel comfortable there. The menu is English-Vietnamese. I had to find my way around it a bit. I had a Vietnamese French sandwich. A real meal. Crossover kitchen with a difference. And a great red wine with it. People know their way around the wines. The "soups" looked very good too. You should definitely make a reservation, at least on weekends. No photos of me. I was too embarrassed (Hehe).

Disastrous the chicken was like rubber

Here you can enjoy a delicious Vietnamese bread dish (Banh Mi). Close your eyes and you'll feel like you're sitting on the side of the road in Hanoi. Well almost.. Food is definitely good, not quite good, but quite authentic if I can classify it as a German potato.

Very nice, small restaurant with very friendly staff. The food was very tasty! We had the vegan Bánh Mi, the sweet potato fries and the seasonal salad with papaya. We ordered the latter without meat or fish. They kindly added very tasty tofu. This surprised us and at the same time made us very happy. The staff was attentive and friendly.

2024: Beautiful location with a corresponding atmosphere. We ate the vegan soup. Unfortunately, the soup is now served with fewer toppings and is quite loaded with noodles. As a result, the ratio between vegetables, noodles and broth was no longer quite right for me. Otherwise it was really tasty! 2019: A perfect place to switch off from everyday life. Super nice service! I recommend always asking for the weekly special. The owners always come up with something special and it's only available for one week throughout the year - so don't miss it! Be sure to try a Vietnamese coffee or the homemade drinks!

A cult mini-restaurant, interesting tables and just charming. The food was good, but in my opinion not excellent, but it was really tasty. The first Kölsch was still cold, unfortunately there is only bottled Kölsch. The second Kölsch was already lukewarm. That's a shame. The service was rather indifferent, definitely not particularly friendly and we regularly had to call in for more drinks. Despite the little things that aren't so optimal, we will, because it is a special restaurant with special food beyond the burger mainstream.

The food was really nice! I enjoyed the Vietnamese iced coffee and bahn mi (if you can't handle spicy food, there are red peppers in the bahn mi so take it out before eating) and pho. The only reason its a 4 star is because the vegetarian pho was quite salty and oddly too flavourful. My partner is vegetarian and he didn't enjoy it as much. If you take the meat options, its fantastic! CASH ONLY**

The menu is small, which usually suggests that what is on it is prepared with love and skill. The best sweet potato fries I've ever eaten. Sometimes we go there just to eat some fries ;) Báhn Mís are super tasty and fresh. The ragu or stew is my favorite dish there. Changing wine and beer varieties that taste damn good. Location is very nice, inside and out and the service is quick and courteous. 10 out of 10

Small restaurant but comfy and the food is so good. The variety is not much, but speciality beat it. Recommendation: Pho with additional tongue meat. As appetizer choose fried sweet potatoes. Another specialty is the ice coffee.

The terrace with a view of the Mauritius Church is really very beautiful. Unfortunately, the vegetarian soup didn't convince us because it was very fatty.

I love the 1980. The Pho and Banh Mi are a blast. The people there are super nice. Bring a tiny bit of patience during lunchtime. Sometimes everything piles up at one time. But it's worth it because it's so delicious.

We were there twice in a row (in one day;-), at lunchtime and in the afternoon. The shop is so authentic and the food is absolutely delicious. You can sit very nicely outside and inside. Service also great!
