I'm a little disappointed. The food didn't live up to our expectations at all. If you order a spit roast, I expect that, not pork with an onion sauce. The cordon bleu wasn't that great either. The steak followed suit, and the tarte flambée was also mediocre. Our waitress gave me a sudden hearing loss from the loudness she spoke. In conclusion, you can go there, but don't have as high expectations as you did some time ago.

The four of us enjoyed the meal very much, but we wouldn't have been full without the appetizer and dessert. The Kaiserschmarrn was very fluffy, but there weren't any pieces of vanilla pulp in the vanilla sauce. The service was friendly, but a bit loud in her accent.

We made a reservation for two people the day before without any problems. The food (schnitzel) exceeded our expectations. It tasted very good and was more than sufficient in quantity. It was served within a short time. Furthermore, the plates were very carefully prepared. The salad was fresh and dressed with a delicious dressing. The ingredients are of high quality, which is evident both in the look and the taste. The affogati were excellent. Both the espresso and the ice cream, which refused to fully merge with the coffee, were a dream. The waitresses, two ladies in our case, were very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is clean and very nice, but unfortunately, it was a bit too loud. The noise was coming from the guests in the entrance area. Next time, we'll sit in the large dining area; perhaps the noise from the entrance area won't reach us as intensely. Apart from the noise, everything was perfect!

Anyone craving good, home-cooked food will definitely get their money's worth here! A modern and very clean restaurant with friendly and very attentive staff. In summer, you can also sit outside in the back courtyard and sip an Aperol. The food is delicious and the prices are reasonable. The portion sizes could be a bit larger, but we definitely didn't leave hungry (tip: the Kaiserschmarrn for dessert is worth it :-) ) We will be back and are already looking forward to feasting on the regular menu as well as the seasonal daily specials.

An update is needed! The weeks of downtime were difficult, but everyone made it through. And the motivation of the staff is so high that it's a pleasure to be your guests. Opinions differ within my family, but I'm grateful that you're here and I'm looking forward to a great summer with you! We haven't been guests at Haus Wirichs for many years, but thanks to the takeover, we're back, and our bowling club has also been welcomed. Obwohl die Spargelwoche beworben wurde, war bereits am Ostersamstag um 18 Uhr der Spargel ausgegangen. . Es gab nur noch Spargelcremesuppe und Spargelsalat mit Krabben, Erdbeeren und Bärlauch. Das geht gar nicht. Wir sind extra zum Spargelessen dorthin gegangen und hatten einen Tisch reserviert, aber nicht extra vorab Spargel bestellt.Die Aufsteller mit dem Spargelangebot standen auch noch draußen. Wenn wir nicht mit 6 Personen gewesen wären, wäre ich wieder gegangen.

To be honest, I don't like being the spoilsport. In this case, however, and because it is almost the only option in St.Tönis to eat home-style, it has to be: I have been a guest at the restaurant three times in the past 9 months. We sat inside twice (October and November) and once outside on Marktstrasse in March 25. Apart from the fact that the noise in the interior is more than annoying and intrusive (which the owners can't do anything about), the food is actually a disgrace. What is boastfully and full-bodiedly advertised on the menu comes to the plate as partially finished product. “Grilled Mushrooms” appetizer with jarred mushrooms; Croquettes or sauces that most likely come from the metro, etc. None of this would be a problem if the prices weren't exorbitantly exorbitant for this quality. This is disrespectful to the people of St. Töniser and no comparison to the former tenants. The service is nice, but often very, very "flaky" and annoyed, which can still be perceived as nonchalant in the "Füchschen" in Düsseldorf, but not in a restaurant in St.Tönis. All in all: No recommendation.

Like being welcomed home. Everyone was very friendly and laughed with us. As soon as a glass was empty, people politely asked if it could have anything else. My meat was a bit tough at first, so I immediately got a new piece. The food was plentiful and tasty.

We were there with a group. Food was excellent. I had schnitzel with mushroom sauce and fried potatoes and the chocolate mousse. Schnitzel was well fried. Mushroom sauce was delicious with lots of mushrooms. Fried potatoes were very good. Additional mushrooms were also very tasty. The chocolate mousse and vanilla sauce were excellent. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed today for the first time, after we normally enjoy eating here regularly with the whole family and even booked a buffet for private celebrations. The breakfast, however, doesn't do justice to the price or the otherwise really delicious food. The rolls and croissants are all baked goods that only go into the oven after ordering. Addition: The only strange thing in this context is that when I asked, the waitress in charge confirmed that the rolls were baked goods. Maybe it was the form of the day; However, you should still deal honestly with the customer.

We had dinner there with 4 people last night. Service and ambience were great. Unfortunately the kitchen ruined the good atmosphere. The portions didn't match the price. A little more on the plate given the prices would have been good. But the quality of two meals was not at all good. Our expectations were exceeded; we haven't experienced such good service in a long time. We are completely satisfied and would choose the Lower Rhine Inn 1857 again and again. Because of food intolerances, we couldn't eat the burger sauces (why does EVERYTHING have to be with Knofi these days?). We were offered (!!) to swap the sauces for mayo or ketchup (in words: SWAP!!). What wasn't said was that we ended up with this "exchange" on the bill and had to pay extra. Nasty trick to get paid for an offer to exchange a special sauce for a finished product.

We always enjoy going to 1857 and have eaten and celebrated there even after our wedding :) The food is varied and always very good! The staff are friendly, polite and always in a good mood :) If you want to have a nice evening in a beautiful environment with loving decorations, this is the right place for you :)

The four of us had a great meal and the service was really friendly! The young colleague who was in charge of serving us (and everyone else too) was very nice, flexible, informative, knowledgeable and authentically friendly 👍 (Maundy Thursday 2024) The acoustics alone were strenuous when the guest room was completely full (!) (through the back) (congratulations on the full house!). But this should only be forwarded to those responsible for the interior design with a request for ideas on how to remedy the situation... I am not sure. I had a steak with herb butter and fries. The steak was amazing! The herb butter and fries were totally over salted and I couldn't eat them. At 8:15 p.m. some of us (there were 18 of us) wanted to order dessert. This was rejected with the reason: “We don’t make dessert for so many guests.” If we had seated the 8 people who wanted dessert at 2 other tables, our order would have been taken. From this I conclude: You have enough income and are not dependent on the guests' food. We also had to accept longer waiting times for the drinks. Basically it is very loud in the restaurant! For the reasons mentioned above, I wouldn't necessarily recommend the restaurant. Maybe the impression is different if there are two or four of you eating there.

After we spontaneously couldn't get a place in December, we now tried making a reservation again. Unfortunately I can't understand the hype. The prices are for the area and what is on the plate at the end is completely exorbitant. Unfortunately, restaurateurs have probably started to take off. The service staff was also not adequate for this price range. The main course was generally okay in terms of taste but very manageable. Two tiny pork schnitzels and a few fried potatoes. The sad highlight, however, was the dessert variation for two, which was neither convincing in terms of quantity nor taste. Luckily this voucher booklet was free, otherwise we would have been very annoyed for €21. The ambience is basically great, but the concept is not well rounded. Therefore unfortunately only 3 stars.

We were able to book a table for 3 (including a high chair) online at relatively short notice on a Sunday (5 p.m.). The restaurant is family and child friendly and has a small play area with various games and things to paint. The staff is very nice and always asks if everything is OK or if you have a request without being intrusive. The food and drinks are very tasty, so the slightly higher prices are justified. We ordered the rump steak with fried onions and croquettes and the chicken cordon bleu with fried potatoes and a side salad. Everything was perfect. Even the croquettes (crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, not dry). We have nothing to complain about and would dine there again at any time.

We were “early regulars” since the 1857 was founded and were enthusiastic and very regular guests for the first few months (over a year). Unfortunately, as this introduction suggests, this is no longer the case. In our opinion, the menu has changed negatively in terms of selection, quality, quantity and price. The initially very good service (we were very understanding of beginners' mishaps after opening) now oscillates between “very accommodating” to “arrogant/cheeky”. Here is an example (memory protocol): The three of us come to the restaurant without a reservation shortly after it opens (around 5:30 p.m.). Almost everything is still empty. Service: “Unfortunately we are fully booked”. Other service from the background: “We still have tables available until 8 p.m.”. First service: “Yes, but they haven’t been here for a long time and are no longer regulars.” True! We are no longer and we won't be any more any time soon! There are other alternatives with a much better price/performance ratio (especially if you are mobile). And these (I'll respond to your arguments) certainly pay their employees well (otherwise they wouldn't have any) and also have similar supply chain issues as the 1857 (I quote: “toll costs”). And briefly on the subject of “sales tax”: This was reduced during Corona, among other things, to compensate for the reduced seating (distance regulations). The seating has been back to normal for a long time, but the VAT benefit has not been passed on to the guests in the form of reduced prices. Since then, many operators have been earning excellent money. But… “of course” you now have to pass on the current VAT increase (to the standard rate) to the guests. Clearly, you are free to calculate and argue as you see fit. And we decide where we feel comfortable as guests! There are 2 stars because 1 of 3 dishes was good and because of one or two very friendly service. Maybe you will accept this as constructive criticism. I would be happy if I could feel comfortable as a guest again at some point and have the impression that I would be treated fairly and courteously.

Erstmal muss ich sagen, daß mir das Herz blutet!! Wir wohnen in Sankt Tönis und gehen gerne mal auswärts essen - mit Freunden, aber des Öfteren auch nur meine Frau und ich. Dieses Lokal begleitet uns schon seit vielen Jahren, erst als "Haus Wirichs", dann als "Ravvivi" und nun schließlich als "Wirtshaus 1857". Das jeder Gastronom erstmal eine unvoreingenommene Chance bekommt, ist hier völlig selbstredend!! Wir waren das erste mal kurz nach der Eröffnung im Wirtshaus etwas essen - neugierig, wie das neue Konzept aussieht und was sich so in der Speisekarte findet. Das Essen war in Ordnung, jedoch hatten die neuen Pächter - auch noch auf Grund der Corona-Auswirkungen - erhebliche Personalprobleme, weshalb wir über 2 Std auf unser Essen warten mussten. Wie gesagt hatten wir dafür Verständnis, auch wenn ich als Wirt, in einer derartigen Situation, deutlich offensiver in der Kommunikation gewesen wäre. Einige Gäste waren schon sehr erbost, wir haben es "ausgesessen" und auch aufgegessen. Essen - und vor allem das Starnberger vom Fass - waren absolut ok und angemessen vom Preis. Danach waren wir noch mehrfach dort und wussten eigentlich immer, was uns erwartet: Rustikale Küche in ordentlicher Qualität zu einem Preis, der OK ist. Mehr aber auch nicht! Dann im letzten Sommer sind wir spontan einmal dorthingegangen, weil wir keine Lust hatten selber zu kochen. Das war für uns gefühlt der "Anfang vom Ende" der gemeinsamen Zeit. Heringsstipp für meine Frau und einen Burger für mich, dazu 2-3 Bier und 2 Aperol. Wir sind anschließend raus gegangen und waren beide richtig unzufrieden. Bratkartoffeln nicht kross sondern "matschig" (Fertig Ware?) und die Pommes etwas kühler als "lau". Mayo & Ketchup muss man selbstverständlich extra bezahlen. Wie in jedem Wirtshaus eben..... ;-) Aber man versucht es ja dann doch nochmals - mit etwas Abstand und dem passenden Moment! Wir sind vor einigen Wochen spontan mit Freunden und einer unserer Töchter nochmals in das Wirtshaus - obwohl wir eigentlich schon nicht mehr hin wollten! Wir waren gut gelaunt und hatten unterschiedlich großen Hunger. Meine Frau hatte kurz mit den Muscheln geliebäugelt, als sie dann sah, daß dafür 21,90€ berechnet werden, hat sie sich spontan für den Seelachs entschieden. 17,50€ erscheint einem deutlich angemessener im Vergleich. Der Einkaufspreis für Muscheln ist ja nun wirklich nicht soooo üppig!!?? Die Muscheln kosteten vor nichtmal einem Jahr auch noch deutlich weniger. Ich meine so ca 17,00€!? Allerdings musste man damals zu den zwei "schmächtigen" Schwarzbrotscheiben nochmals zwei dazu bestellen, die natürlich - wie sollte es anders sein - volle pulle berechnet wurden. Das nur als kleine "Nebenstory"! 3x gab es ausserdem vor ein paar Wochen Schnitzel, welches "OK" war!! Aber auch hier muss man sagen das 20,00€ für ein Schweineschnitzel, welches "OK" ist, in jedem Fall saftiger ist, als es die Schnitzel waren! Ganz zu schweigen von der Tatsache, daß man jede kleine Mayo- und Ketchupschale extra bezahlen muss! Den Vogel abgeschossen hat aber mein "großer bunter Salat" zu 14,90€!!! Da bin ich glatt hinten über gefallen!!! Der "große bunte Salat" bestand aus einer ca halben Tüte Fertigsalatmischung mit den kleinen lustigen Karottenstiften drinne........ Ich würde auf den "Blattsalat-Eisberg-Mix" von Aldi tippen!!?? Die "hausgemachte" Vinaigrette war bestimmt auch "hausgekauft"!!?? Das auf der Speisekarte angepriesene Brot bestand aus zwei traurigen Scheiben, die im "Baguette-Style" aus einem Weizenbrötchen geschnitten waren. Allerdings hatten diese zwei jämmerlichen Scheiben die Konsistenz eines Zwiebacks - und das ist wirklich nicht übertrieben!!! Beides habe ich bei der freundlichen, jungen Bedienung sofort bemängelt - sowohl den "Fertigsalat", als auch das "Zwieback". Ich habe sie auch den "Fühltest" bei dem Zwieback machen lassen. Sie sagte dann nur "Ohhhhh...... Ich bringe Ihnen neues Brot!" Das kam dann auch und wurde mit den Worten überreicht, daß man natürlich an einem Sonntag Abend kein frisches Brot mehr backen könne, die zwei "neuen" Scheiben jedoch besser seien. Es war "weiches" Zwieback und essen habe ich es nicht können. Wäre also auf´s gleiche herausgekommen. Wichtig ist mir zu betonen, daß es NICHT IN ERSTER LINIE auf den Preis ankommt, sondern auf die Qualität. Wenn diese gegeben ist, bezahlt man auch gerne einen angemessenen Preis. Bei dieser Qualität bin ich gar nicht bereit etwas in einem Restaurant zu bezahlen und deshalb sind wir dort erstmal raus!! Schade, denn die Auswahl in Sankt Tönis ist wirklich mittlerweile sehr begrenzt und das Potential ist groß!
