Nice pub atmosphere with delicious, down-to-earth food, the landlord is just a little unfriendly sometimes but it's within limits.

I didn't like the meal. I wasn't very happy when I picked up the food in my food gap. Very bad.

We were there with a larger group of around 15 people and had also made a reservation. At the beginning we were asked for the cocktail menu, which we received briefly, but then had to give back because there is only one copy in the restaurant. After the first batch of cocktails were delivered, the waiter informed us that there would be no more cocktails. "The boss doesn't want to, but we waiters do." Unfortunately, the waiters generally weren't on their toes. Often a drink was missing and something different was brought than what was ordered (Shandy instead of Pilsner, small instead of large). Sometimes we waited up to 20 minutes for water. A friend initially ordered a cappuccino with a shot. Since it wasn't available, she ordered a latte macchiato and in the end only received a black coffee because nothing else was available. The friends who ordered a single dish were relatively satisfied, even if individual components that were on the menu were unfortunately missing. When we asked, we were told that the supplement was not included. The five of us shared the tapas surprise. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio wasn't right here at all. The cold plate consisted of pickled mushrooms, olives, anchovies, some salmon and ham and turkey breast, which was probably intended to represent Vitello Tonato. Bread was baked, but the dips (aioli, herb butter, pesto) were very tasty! Afterwards the warm tapas platter came and when we asked, we asked for “a little bit of everything”. Only meat and potatoes came in various forms (goulash, pork fillet with sauce, chicken with sauce, fries, patatas bravas). All in all, we agree that we unfortunately cannot recommend the Copacabana based on the points mentioned above. There are certainly better restaurants in the area.

I didn't like ordering online and paying in the restaurant. I left without ordering.

One might also be surprised at how others rate this place so well. To describe our dining experience, I have to go into a bit of detail. We once got some very dark fries (acrylamide) at a Heeker Grill. When we asked the owner about it after our meal (the fries were left lying around), we didn't have to pay for them. We once asked a restaurant owner in Vreden (in a matter-of-fact way) why he had given us nothing but ultra-short fries, basically broken asparagus (I mean, there's nothing wrong with that!). He very kindly explained his problem and said he would rectify it. Well, all very kindly. Now for the experience at the Ahauser Grill. My wife ordered a doner kebab, and the doner meat was good German hard coal (I thought they had shut down all the coal mines in North Rhine-Westphalia!?). So the good woman (health and nutrition conscious like all women) left the coal on her plate. I was a little luckier (I was probably the lucky second person whose kebab was cut off the rotisserie), so I was just surprised that I had ordered a kebab platter from the menu at the counter (hungry as always), but now there was a plate in front of me – on which there was no more food than my wife's kebab plate (at most, because she had coal and I had meat). After the meal (no one asked us during the meal if "everything was okay"), I asked the "innkeeper" about it. He then asked: Did you have any drinks? (No) I said: We weren't particularly satisfied with the food (price for a platter, but the food fit on the plate). The "innkeeper" then said: Give me the money, others want their food crispy. I said: Completely black? He: Give me the money! Me: Well, you don't have to come here anymore. Him: That's right. Now, friends of good taste, what did you think? I'd like to summarize: We didn't give Monopoly or counterfeit money. We gave 100% money, but we got at most 50% of the food in return (we all work too hard for that, don't we?). What happened: The two men behind the counter were talking so loudly in Turkish while we were waiting for our food that we had trouble understanding our own words at the far table. They obviously didn't have time to check on the food. In any case, the two of them were willing to put the money they had earned on our plates (for good German money). That's why we both wanted to give the Ahauser Grill a star for that.

We ate there from work in the run-up to Christmas. I thought it was a shame that we were seated at two different tables. In order to talk to all your colleagues, you had to get up every now and then. Even though the tables were next to each other, it wasn't a clever solution. Especially since the table was reserved for us over half a year in advance! There should perhaps be further internal communication for 2025 in order to place larger groups better :-) Food was good! Service staff were friendly and food and drinks were delivered to the table quickly.

The BamBoo in Ahaus is a real highlight for us - we go there once a month on Sundays at 12 p.m. The restaurant offers a unique jungle feeling with many loving details. It's an experience especially for children: You can use the app to trigger great effects such as a thunderstorm or the Range Rover in the middle of the restaurant - it's exciting every time! Ordering via the app works smoothly, the prices are fair, and the food is fresh and delicious. The music is very pleasant and it is always nice and warm - which also contributes to the feel-good atmosphere. The staff is always friendly and helpful. There is plenty of parking space - either at Tobit Software or directly behind the Bamboo. The outdoor area is particularly beautiful in summer, with seating, sand to play in, a play boat and a real helicopter with a rotor blade that spins when it's open. An all-round successful experience for the whole family – absolute recommendation!
