Yesterday evening (February 15, 2025) the six of us gathered at the Ticino Grill, a restaurant that has been run by master chef Stefan Wöllstein for over 30 years. Registration was for 7pm, but when we arrived the table wasn't free and we had to wait a few minutes. The restaurant was full and we expected culinary highlights according to the reviews.
However, we quickly noticed that only one male waiter and one waitress who only cleared plates were responsible for the entire service and led to very long waiting times. The first big disappointment came after ordering: an impressive 1 hour and 12 minutes passed between entering the restaurant and receiving the 2 starters. The starters (the prawns were too garlicky) were eaten quickly, but when we pushed the empty plate aside we had to wait a long time again. It wasn't until 20 minutes later that the salad plate arrived - unfortunately the lamb's lettuce was already a bit mushy and looked as if it had been marinated for a long time. The wait had now lasted 90 minutes and unfortunately that is not acceptable.
After almost 2 hours of waiting, the main courses finally arrived: two sauerbraten, a pork loin with mushroom sauce, a cream schnitzel, a fallow venison goulash with spaetzle and a rump steak with chanterelle sauce (origin?). Unfortunately, the main courses contain some disappointments. The sauerbraten hardly had the sour note that one expected and seemed more like a normal braised meat. In addition, the amount of meat was quite lean, and both slices contained thick, inedible tendon. The red cabbage (or actually brown cabbage) was very overcooked, too fatty and rather too sweet. The potato dumpling was okay, but visually too dominant - two smaller dumplings would be more appropriate here instead of one giant dumpling.
In general the food was good, but there was room for improvement. The waiting time in particular is unacceptable
Before Mr. Wöllstein questions my expertise, I would like to mention that I also worked in the kitchen for 30 years, which can be credited to 22 years as head chef.
Unfortunately I have to deduct a star from the sauerbraten due to the disappointment. The waiting time costs 2 stars. The ambience only deserves 3 stars because EC card payments are not possible and the dining room seems a bit old, especially since the LED fairy lights in front of the entrance seem rather careless.
Parking is also difficult, but you can't blame the restaurant in the industrial area for that - it's just the location.
With friendly greetings from Hamburg
We ate at the stand in Cologne today.
The poor young lady was alone with at least 10 customers waiting
... the fries were very good but the burger bread and the raclette cheese were unfortunately completely cold and not melted. It's a shame, otherwise it would have been a better review.
Unfortunately we find ourselves standing in front of a locked door at 8:15 p.m., according to the opening times it's actually open until 10:30 p.m., which we find very annoying. It can always happen, but you would at least have to put a note on the door.
A trip here is absolutely worth it.
This is how you imagine an authentic Italian! Cozy, beautiful garden and family run.
The man serves with friendly recommendations and the star is clearly the wife who does her magic in the kitchen!!!!
We had Carbonara and Arabiata today!
The noodles were cooked to perfection. Slightly al dente.
The taste?
Simply outstanding! The Arabiata is delicious, clay-like with a lot of spicy spice!
The Cabonara is simply amazingly delicious! If you had to look for errors, the guanciale could be a bit crisper.
Price performance is absolutely right!
We'll be back!
This is our absolute favorite Italian cuisine in the Frankfurt area so far!
The food was great, it took a bit of a long time but it was great, the service was a bit weird at the beginning but he was just stressed out so I understand everything else was great
Overall, a delicious kebab with decent portions. The owner is friendly and the shop is also ideal for eating on site. A delivery service is even offered. Mondays are a rest day (closed). I enjoy coming here regularly.
5/5 stars - currently my number 1 in Mühlheim!
You can still get really good home cooking here. Slaughter platters, reels, scoops of ribs and all of that with bread or sauerkraut and porridge when there is a slaughter festival once a month. Everything was super delicious 😋. But there is also super good chicken... various schnitzel dishes and small things to eat. We'd love to come back
Had lunch at the Alexandrion for the first time today in good company. Great atmosphere, very warm welcome, cozy places, very tastefully decorated. Start with the starter. A poem: goat cheese on beluga lentil salad. Wow, the taste was great. The main course was tender beef fillet on Mediterranean vegetables with crispy rösti. Finally, an espresso (next time I'll leave room for dessert 😉). Thank you for the great hospitality and see you soon.
We were there for a karaoke evening. The atmosphere and the audience were very good. The food wasn't that great that evening, but tastes are different. Nevertheless we would come here again.
