Zur Steinhauser Einkehr in München

We went to Oktoberfest 2025, we stayed at a Hotel near the restaurant. While we were in München one of our group had a birthday. They wanted to celebrate by enjoying a traditionelle German meal. They chose this restaurant. It was by far the best meal we had during our week stay in München and one of the best we had in our 3 week Europe visit. The portions were large, the price was low considering what you received. The food Tasted wonderful. The Owners served us. They were fun, helpful and we could tell They loved what they did. The interior was very traditionelle Bavarian German. Clean and well Kept It had just the right amount of home to make you feel comfortable. The restaurant is only a short 10 minute from the bus / S-Bahn stop and it only took us 15 Minutes to walk from our Hotel.

A true hidden gem with outstanding German cuisine! Deserves 5 stars. We were absolutely thrilled with our visit to Steinhauser Einkehr. The owner and his friends gave us an exceptionally warm welcome and took excellent care of us throughout our stay – you can immediately tell that genuine service and hospitality are still paramount here. The German cuisine was simply fantastic! Authentically prepared with fresh ingredients and great attention to detail. Exactly what you would expect from a traditional Bavarian inn. Every dish was delicious, and the portions were more than generous. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, full of charm and a genuine Bavarian atmosphere. Here you can dine in peace and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere – far removed from the hustle and bustle and the crowded tourist restaurants in the old town. If you value quality, authenticity, and personal service, this is the perfect place. Highly recommended – we will definitely be back!

A quaint allotment garden restaurant with a small but fine menu and a warm, homey atmosphere. We were in Munich on business and visited twice within three days. The service is friendly, courteous, and very prompt. The food is excellent, served hot, and the portions are very generous. We definitely recommend it and thank you to the service team!

According to maps, it's open until 11:00 PM. We drove there especially, and the waitress was already drunk (a 1/4-liter wine glass in her hand) and beyond unfriendly. A shame. Embarrassing.

This is truly the most welcoming shop in all of Munich. The price/performance ratio is right, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere in the shop is truly unique.

Our favorite place. We often come to the Steinhauser Einkehr as a large group and always feel very comfortable. Firstly, because the food and beer are delicious, but above all, because we are treated so warmly!

Just wow! I am staying nearby at arabellapark and was looking for a place for a beer (or two) and some good German food. This place delivers. It's what would be called where I am a "hole in the wall" which has its risks, but there is no risk here, this place is just amazing! The service was great. The woman who helped me (she is in the picture) didnt speak English, but was somehow more friendly and relatable than servers where I'm from... If she serves you, then you know it is a good time ahead! The schnitzel was the best I have had in 2 years of coming to Germany. I have another week in town and already I am telling my friends coming in that we are coming back at least once! Oh, this is how I know it's really good... There is a table of German friends that just grew the whole time I stayed, so my feeling of it being a good local place was verified. It threw me off walking here where to go and how to get here (hint- turn right when you enter, I wondered around and probably looked like a mad man trying to find the restaurant), but when you do get your bearings, grab a beer, get some food, have great service and realize this is all at a price that makes most other restaurants look greedy. Highly recommend!

We were staying at the HYPERION and stopped here for lunch. The restaurant seems a bit dated, with allotments next door. At first glance, it looks like a kiosk on a campsite 😁 There are no menus, just two handwritten blackboards with a handful of different dishes. We were almost expecting lousy ready meals, but the cordon bleu filled with bacon and Obatzten (sweet pastry) was handmade and truly delicious, and it taught us once again that you shouldn't be fooled by appearances 😌 The landlady was super friendly 👍 I thought it was totally fine if you're a hotel guest looking for something to eat nearby!

Very friendly owners, delicious schnitzels, huge portions, and a mountain chalet atmosphere. Prices are very reasonable. Schnitzels for two people plus drinks cost ~40€🙂. I recommend it.

A nice pub with a cozy beer garden. The menu is well-organized, and the service is very friendly. We had bratwurst with spleen, cordon bleu, and ribs with potato salad and fries. Everything was delicious!

The Schnitzel was amazing and only compares to the Austrian one. The fries were simple but very tasty. The blonde beer was light and tasty. If you find yourself nearby, don't hesitate.

A very quaint pub with a proprietor who has his heart in the right place. Child-friendly. We were there outside of kitchen hours, so not every dish was available to order. But there was still a good selection. The food was delicious and reasonably priced.

Much bigger than it looks from the street! We had Milzwurst with fried potatoes and Wiener schnitzel with fries, all really good. It feels like a long-established family business, owner-managed and dedicated to its guests, with a truly Bavarian and warm atmosphere. We'd love to come back!

A quaint, long-established restaurant, just like the old days. Typical Bavarian hospitality, cozy atmosphere, and pleasant conversation. The food is excellent value for money. The ambiance is quite sterile, as is often the case with beer gardens. But that's perfectly fine.

Don't be put off by the exterior of the place; it's a sports bar with really good, home-style cooking and a super-friendly host! The menu is the host, super-friendly! We felt very comfortable, and the value for money is EXCELLENT!!!!!

What an amazing place! We looked for a Bavarian inn and found it. A hospitality that is hardly known from the far north. It was a great evening with nice people, great service and delicious food. Thank you for the great evening and see you next year!

An unmissable experience. Non-touristy place frequented only by locals. Reachable by car, family-run, good and cheap. There is no menu and only German is spoken. All Bavarian style, good and plentiful. They now accept credit card payment. A great surprise was a private bowling alley at the back with which we ended the evening. It deserves it!

A visit to the Steinhauser Retreat is truly an experience. Walter is simply the best and entertains his guests in a wonderful way. The food is super delicious. Quaint, warm and highly recommended. I set out to explore this restaurant with a friend. It was Sunday (actually the well-deserved rest day) and also a church fair. Even though it was fully booked, we were allowed to sit down at a table and enjoy an excellent, tasty church harrier goose. It certainly wasn't the last time there, as the atmosphere and all the staff are really recommended.

One of the best dishes I had during Octoberfest travel. Not much to comment: perfect potato dumpling, stewed meet and sour cabbage. With local beer was lunch of the trip! Highly recommended!

Simply cozy and rustic. There is something for everyone here and when the weather is nice you can enjoy the cozy but fine beer garden. The food is homemade and served with great friendliness. Here people still serve in lederhosen and always with a little advice.

Actually zero stars! Why? Lt. Statement here "open today until 9 p.m." We as a family with small children crossed the Steinhauser concrete desert in the crazy heat - only to find ourselves standing in front of the closed door at 6 p.m.! Then head back to your usual beer garden. And what do we learn from this? Never change a functional pub relationship! We don't have to go through this experience a second time.

Small, unpretentious restaurant/bar but very good food and impeccable service, really a good experience!

Authentic, Bavarian club bar located directly on the S-Bahn in an allotment garden colony. As a tourist you will probably be looked at with interest, but no different - very friendly and warm - considered than the vast majority of regular guests from the neighborhood. The menu is hearty and simple and the dishes we tried (liver cheese, schnitzel, spleen sausage, potato salad and French fries) were all okay. The potato salad definitely stood out here - simply delicious. All of this at unbeatable prices within Munich and more than filling portions.

We thought we had found an insider tip, so we hopped on the S Bahn and off we went! But when we got there we were disappointed, unfortunately everything was closed! Although Maps says, Open Sunday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Were there at 6pm... Too bad

Perfectly souffled golden crispy schnitzel, the meat is super tender and yet not too thin. Classic potato salad without shishi All in a wonderfully homely 80s atmosphere and at an unbeatable price. What more do you want?

Well. Just nice. The landlord had food prepared for us even though we were late, the beer was good and the atmosphere was like being at home. 😊 It's just a small beer hall but nice.

Cozy little place, where can you eat in a relaxed atmosphere. The Schnizel with vegetable salat was very good and huge, I recommend it! 👌 And the Kellner was very attentive, thanks for the great service! 🤩

Typical family-run Bavarian gasthaus. Characteristic place, outdoor garden with tables already underway with dinner at 7.30pm. Almost no English, only 4 words including "meat balls, potatoes, salad and frankfurters". No menu, we ate the only things left... wiener wurst and meat ball (fried minced meatball) with potatoes in salad... all good. Excellent Weiss beer. Payment only in cash, 20 euros each.

Great little clubhouse with a lot of local color. The waitress was very nice and quick. The dishes are very tasty, cheap but simple. I had the Leberkäse with potato salad. The potato salad was particularly good.

Eine urige, bayerische sympathische Wirtschaft. Die Gerichte sind groß und geschmacklich super. Die Bedienungen sehr freundlich. Live Fussball und Kegeln gibts obendrauf. Netter Biergarten. Komme immer wieder gerne hierher. Und merci nochmal fürs Wurstbrot trotz geschlossener Küche! :-)

We were staying at a nearby hotel and decided to give it a go. A great decision. A super friendly atmosphere and delicious food at a very reasonable price. We enjoyed watching a group of 10 people dancing traditional dances as someone played an accordion. A lively and friendly bunch that made our dining experience all the more positive. Cannot recommend this place enough!!

Geheimtipp! Kleiner Biergarten mit sehr netter Chefin, sie ist ein Münchner Original! Wir waren Mittwochs zum Grilltag vor Ort. Grillgut mit selbst gemachtem Kartoffelsalat oder Pommes für 7,40€ und das Bier 4,-€ ist unschlagbar. Wir werden beim nächsten Besuch in München wieder kommen.

Kegeln für Kinder unter 16 Jahren (trotz Begleitung der Eltern) leider nicht gestattet. Das hat uns die Chefin des Lokals mit sehr negativer Dringlichkeit vor allen Gästen sehr unfreundlich klar gemacht. Schade. Bedienung ist bemüht, Essen war ok.

Ho scoperto questo ristorante per caso, cercando un locale vicino all'hotel vista la nevicata in atto. L'esperienza è stata fantastica, ci siamo accomodati in uno stanzino secondario visto che il locale era pieno, ma questo ci ha fatto apprezzare ancora di più l'autenticità del luogo. Il personale è stato gentilissimo e disponibile anche se non conosceva bene l'inglese (immagino non sia frequentatissimo da turisti). Le porzioni sono abbondanti e i prezzi sotto alla media, me lo ricorderò se dovessi tornare a Monaco.

Достаточно большое кафе, есть летняя площадка. Порции средние. Пиво как пиво. Официант разговаривает на анг(не много) Меню только на немецком, не большой выбор блюд. Быстрая подача, чистые уборные. Нет пешеходного перехода к кафе.

Sehr gutes Essen zu einem fairen Preis, die Besitzer sind auch sehr nett. Ich habe mich hier wohlgefühlt. Wir hatten zwei Schnitzel mit Pommes, einen Kaffee, einen Spezi und ein Wasser alles zusammen 30€ da ist ein sehr guter Preis woanders zahlt man nur für das Schnitzel deutlich mehr👍👍👍 Beim zweiten Besuch gab es einen Leckeren Schweinebraten mit Semmelknödel. Ein kleiner Salat hat noch gefehlt aber ansonsten preislich super 👍
