Zur eisernen Hand in Viersen

An absolutely outstanding, family-run hotel. The owner-run restaurant is one of the best in the region. We have enjoyed the excellent cuisine countless times. Exquisite wines round out the positive overall impression.

I can't give any information about the hotel. The restaurant regularly caters to my taste. The menu is varied and offers people with different dietary preferences the opportunity to dine together at the same table.

On August 30, 2025, I celebrated my 60th birthday with 33 guests at the "Iron Hand," and what can I say? It was fantastic, phenomenal, and simply magnificent! Everything was perfect; from the planning to the very last second of the celebration, my guests and I were lovingly looked after. Mrs. Pauen set and decorated the room with great love and creativity. She even incorporated my personal decorations. The food (hot/cold buffet) was superb, super delicious. I was told by everyone how much everyone enjoyed it. So, a separate thank you and a warm welcome to the kitchen! The location immediately gives you a homey feeling, which is also due to the fact that the staff is very attentive and always friendly and caring. Value for money = 1A! I can only recommend this hotel & restaurant to everyone!!! Thank you, Mrs. and Mr. Pauen, for this wonderful celebration!

This was my second time staying there for one night and I was very satisfied again. I arrived at 10:00 PM and was still escorted to my room. The room was clean and spacious. The breakfast in the morning was delicious, but rather limited. If I come back to Viersen, I'll book there again.

We were invited to dinner... if you like rustic... I was a bit put off by the carpet when I walked in... the young man who served us was very friendly, but that's just not enough! He probably still has a lot to learn to become a service professional! The food was delicious, but nothing special... the price-performance ratio wasn't right for us... We definitely won't go there again.

Our short stay in Viersen was absolutely rewarded with a visit to your hotel. The friendly welcoming staff, the excellent room, and the Michelin-starred dinner more than rounded off our stay. Many thanks to the entire team. We would be happy to come back.

Overall, it's good! The portion sizes and quality are good! However, the prices are quite ambitious for the ambiance and the residential area, and somehow don't quite fit!

This was my fourth time, exceptionally good service, exceptionally delicious food and all of this in a feel-good atmosphere, comfortable, clean rooms in a cozy location... It is advisable to arrive on time, as parking spaces become scarce later in the evening.

We celebrated our wedding at the Zur Eisernen Hand restaurant and are completely satisfied! Mr. and Mrs. Pauen welcomed us warmly and provided expert support during the planning phase. Mrs. Pauen, in particular, took care of the decorations with great attention to detail, perfectly matching our tastes. The food was outstanding – with Mr. Pauen, we were able to put together a personalized mix of holiday and barbecue buffets, which was very well received by all of our guests. We were truly impressed by the flexibility in menu design and the professional execution. The large hall and the beautiful garden were ideal for our celebration with approximately 50 guests. The service was also consistently attentive, friendly, and pleasantly unobtrusive. A heartfelt thank you to the entire team – we couldn't have wished for a better location for our big day!

Today was my last asparagus dinner of the season—and my first visit to the Eisernen Hand restaurant. I felt truly at home from the very first moment. We haven't experienced such great service in a long time. We came with 10 people without a reservation. Two tables were put together, and we were served without much of a wait. 01/03/2025 There were four of us in the restaurant. The price-performance ratio wasn't right. We won't be coming back. The parking situation at 6:30 p.m. was a disaster

I would like to briefly comment on the criticism of the “beetroot carpaccico”... We are not in Harry's Bar and there is no wafer-thin fine beef carpaccio being served for the Contessa. The kitchen decided to serve this winter vegetable with slightly thicker slices to enhance the flavor. A very good decision. Of course, food for a group should be served quickly so that everyone can start at the same time. With a larger group it can take a few minutes. Some restaurants place all finished food on the warming plate in the kitchen - until everything can be served at the same time. I also learned that if there are enough staff, all the hoods can be raised at the same time so that all guests can start eating right away. Perhaps that's why the boat in Kaiserwerth is recommended, although criticism is welcomed there - as in the Iron Hand. You can express your wishes or changes. As regular guests, we always enjoy staying at the Iron Hand and look forward to an enjoyable 2025!

Short and sweet... Everything is correct from A to Z and I can recommend it 100%.

The staff is friendly and the restaurant has a neat appearance. The food is well prepared. The portions are also generous, which will certainly please many people. Unfortunately, the taste of the food is honestly below average. Almost everything, except for the fries, is very tasteless or almost overcooked. Below are a few more constructive points of criticism: The “beetroot carpacio” was cut far too thick and the goat cheese served with it comes from either Aldi or a wholesaler, so run of the mill. The sauce for the schnitzel is also very tasteless. This is how it went through all the dishes. Another point of criticism is that when the main courses were served, not all of the food went out at the same time. It takes about 5 minutes from the first to the last plate. Not acceptable for a full-time professional caterer.

The price-performance ratio in the hotel is right. The friendliness of the service and the performance of the kitchen deserve 5 stars without any compromises. If you want to eat a good, traditional and refined meal, this restaurant is recommended.

We celebrated our wedding there, but unfortunately we were very disappointed by the owners! Things would be promised that unfortunately wouldn't be kept, so we stood there and had to take care of the decorations ourselves, etc. What was promised would be done but nothing, you need something like that 1 day before the wedding. Unfortunately, the lady who was responsible didn't have a plan because the process wasn't explained to her (boss), the times that were agreed upon for eating weren't kept, boss was totally overwhelmed and such and such a time wouldn't work, so it stayed also some left. Then the buffet would simply be completely rebuilt, including the warm things without asking, and we would have to pay for that again because they set everything up themselves! When the invoice came, things were charged that were never discussed, so you had to fight to get them to change them because they were wrong because the offer said something different! Drinks for the children would be charged for coffee and cake that the children have never seen etc...Wouldn't have changed to this day. Furthermore, 2 people were canceled due to corona, the boss knew that, he said ok, we won't charge and lo and behold, we had to pay that too until today! You only get 3 stars because the kitchen was excellent, the food was bomb and the kitchen staff were very nice and accommodating. The only person who missed his job was the boss, who was very unpleasant and was totally overwhelmed in every situation! There is no discussion with each other about what would be agreed upon and what the process is, etc.... He ruined our day when we arrived because he couldn't sort anything out himself! No bride and groom want something like that.

Catering for our Oktoberfest festival was highly recommended. Fresh mashed potatoes, nothing untouched from the bag. Meat quality 1A. Service top!! I'd love to come back next time!!

We were only guests for one night, were warmly welcomed and were allowed to move into the room at lunchtime. The apartment was very spacious, very well maintained, clean and lovingly furnished. A small matter was resolved quickly and easily. Breakfast with fresh rolls and a sufficient selection of sausage, cheese, jams, etc., fresh scrambled eggs. We are happy to recommend the hotel.

Die Speisekarte war sehr ausgewogen. Es gab auch etliche Angebote für Vegetarier. Das Essen war frisch gekocht und sehr lecker. Der Service war insgesamt sehr gut. Die Weinkarte ließ keine Wünsche offen. Wir hatten einen schönen Abend.

This hotel was something very special for me. I felt completely comfortable as a solo traveler. I can't even mention everything that impressed me. Arrived at 8:30 p.m. and had the opportunity to eat in the restaurant. I was shown the full map. The table was lovingly set again. I was shown a room beforehand even though the restaurant was full. Breakfast leaves nothing to be desired. The food is of a very high quality: roast beef in the evening was very tender, salmon on Sunday morning was very tasty. Thank you again for everything.

Our youngest (5 years old) said it was the best restaurant in the area. I can only agree with him. I haven't eaten so well for a reasonable price in a long time. Top!

Was in the hotel for 1 night. I had a great night's sleep in the spacious, clean room and had a delicious breakfast on Sunday morning. Parking is possible in front of the house. The location is quiet and the city center is within walking distance. The atmosphere is familiar - or: Very nice, helpful staff! I felt very comfortable here and will stay here again next year. We ate with 9 people and were very satisfied. The request to settle the bill at around 9 p.m. was less pleasant, as there were no more guests in the front part of the inn. Official opening time is until 11 p.m.! We were then able to continue our card game in the small hall we had reserved but the previously good mood had waned considerably. The hosts probably didn't make for a cozy evening for their guests intended.

We went there for dinner and bowling. At the beginning the waiter seemed very unfriendly, almost in a bad mood. This subsided over time. A bit inflexible for me because the waiter also referred to the small print that dishes that are on the menu should also be ordered. I can't eat everything because of intolerances or allergies. At the reception I am always offered to take my luggage to my room as there is no elevator in the building. A great service. Mein Opa Peter Klein hat vor einigen Jahren seinen Geburtstag hier gefeiert und letzte Woche hat nun auch meine Oma Ruth Klein hier ihren 80. Geburtstag gefeiert. Sie war sehr glücklich. Die Organisation war reibungslos, das Essen war gut und die Bedienungen waren freundlich. Es gab genug Platz für zahlreiche Gäste, einen Moderator und alles. Zwischendurch kam sogar spontan ein Vertreter der örtlichen Karnevalsgesellschaft hinzu und hat mit meiner Oma angestoßen. Das fand sie klasse. Das war reiner Zufall, dass die Karnevalsgesellschaft da gerade anwesend war, aber es spricht ja dafür, wie sehr das Lokal in die örtliche Kultur eingebunden ist. Das Lokal ist auch relativ zentral, da es ca. 15 Minuten zu Fuß vom Bahnhof Viersen ist und auch per Taxi einfach zu erreichen ist. Und die Gäste aus der Ferne konnten bei Bedarf auch ein Zimmer im Hotel buchen. Auf jeden Fall eine Empfehlung für jeden, der dort eine Feier machen möchte.

Nutze so 2x im Monat den Mittagstisch als to Go Variante. Gutes Essen für einen guten Preis. Toll und Danke

Die Speisen und Getränke waren überdies sehr gut zubereitet und hatten eine sehr gute Lebensmittelqualität. Besonders hervorzuheben sind hierbei die Desserts, die überdurchschnittlich gut waren. Die Chefin war am Abend selbst anwesend um sicherzustellen, dass alles läuft. Der Umgang war sehr angenehm und das Servicepersonal sehr freundlich und gut. Auf Sonderwünsche wurde immer eingegangen. Das Frühstück beim Hotel haben wir als sehr gut berichtet bekommen und unsere Freunde waren sehr zufrieden. Ich würde hier jederzeit wieder feiern und es auch guten Freunden empfehlen.

ein ganz süßes sauberes Hotel mit ausgezeichneten Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Einziger kleiner Kritikpunkt meinerseits: die Brötchen beim Frühstück heute waren leider enttäuschend. Weder knackig noch schmackhaft. Hier sollte der Einkäufer oder die Einkäuferin überlegen den Lieferanten für die Brötchen zu wechseln.
