Perfect, friendly service and delicious food.

"I was at a restaurant the other day and witnessed a very unpleasant scene. A guest had a large oak leaf in his salad – clearly visible. Instead of apologizing for the mistake or resolving the situation professionally, it seemed to me as if the waitress was actually embarrassing the guest and blaming him. I found that extremely inappropriate and unprofessional. The guest left visibly upset – and frankly, I could understand why. Treating guests like that doesn't leave a good impression."

Food: The meat, whether beef, pork, or chicken, was inedible. Hard as a shoe sole, with an aftertaste. The chicken had a peculiar flavor. Side dish: Green beans were hard, as if they had just been scalded with hot water. Sauce: Tasty, but a ready-made sauce. The best things were the chanterelles and the starter salad, which was truly delicious and fresh. Service: Attentive, except for one temporary worker, probably on Sundays. She was wearing circus pants. This person was unfriendly, rude, and addressed the guests informally. We regularly ate there, with an approximately two-hour drive. We don't have to put up with this, and to top it all off, the food was inedible.

We were there today and had a very good meal. The staff was very friendly. There's nothing to complain about. We'd gladly come again.

A true chance find in Rathenow – and what a find! 🍽️ The restaurant has a wonderfully old-world charm that immediately creates a cozy atmosphere. It feels a bit like stepping back in time – lovingly decorated and full of character. The food absolutely won us over: down-to-earth, fresh, and truly delicious. The schnitzel, in particular, was perfect – crispy, tender, and cooked to perfection. 🥩👌 A fantastic experience that we completely didn't expect. We'd love to come back!

We spontaneously stopped by the restaurant around 4 p.m. The sign on the door indicated opening hours from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., nothing else. Upon entering, we were immediately asked if we had a reservation. We didn't know we needed one; "We do," was the grumpy reply. Mind you, the entire restaurant was empty inside and out, except for one table. Given all the "friendliness," we decided to dine at the restaurant next door, where we received extremely friendly service.

Great location, friendly staff, and fair prices. And even the dog was allowed in the restaurant.

It's really cozy here, you can visit and we felt at home.

We were just passing through, and it doesn't say anywhere on their website that "only with a reservation" is available. I think our age and outfits didn't suit them. But don't forget, the relaxed people who were there today are not your future ☺️

After being turned away at another restaurant, we received a warm welcome here. Beautiful ambiance, fantastic and attentive service, very friendly and always quick to share a good joke. Incredibly child-friendly. Before our meal, we were served a small salad plate. Delicious and fresh. The food was great. The burger was juicy (the portion was generous), the schnitzel was perfectly tender and not at all dry. If we visit Rathenow again, we'll definitely come back.

What a bunch of lousy staff! We were greeted very unfriendly as soon as we entered the restaurant. This continued when we ordered, and then we heard some stupid comments from the front desk. They should really think about who's paying them. Once and never again!!!!!!!!

Recommendation: Yes, but... We had to wait 35 minutes to place our food order. Another 30 minutes for the food to arrive. A couple at the next table also complained about the wait. Nevertheless, the food was delicious and the prices were reasonable, so it's a definite recommendation.

We were there for a birthday party; there was a buffet. Everything was good, we were greeted warmly, but I find the ambiance a bit too dark; my eyes were burning when I left.

Great, rustic ambiance. Delicious food, plenty of choice. A small appetizer was included. The staff seemed a bit annoyed. Unfortunately, Visa card payments are not accepted. We would come back anytime. Reservations recommended.

We were passing through, so the four of us spontaneously stopped by for dinner. It was well worth it: super-friendly service and delicious, beautifully garnished, and generous dishes! The ambiance is great, even if you do have to get used to the slightly dim lighting. Both waiters came to our table several times to check if everything was as we wanted. It was! Before the main courses, we were served a small, crisp salad. And the food arrived just 20 minutes after ordering. We've never experienced that before. All in all, highly recommended, and a big thank you to the entire team at the "Alte Schmiede."

Very nice ambiance, great decor, you feel like you're sitting in a beautiful old forge. The service is very friendly and courteous, and you don't have to wait long for your food. It doesn't matter. Very tasty and plentiful. The forge is highly recommended. Thumbs up.

We stopped by spontaneously—without a reservation. The staff was super friendly. They told us there might be a wait because they were busy. I was on a bike tour in Rathenow and was looking for a restaurant for Monday evening where I could enjoy a good meal, and one that was also open relatively late... so I could use the sauna at the hotel between the bike tour and dinner. It was a hit. The "Fire Eater" steak was very good – including the generous amount of sauce. I also found the dessert very tasty. The service was very friendly. I'd go back...

We were very surprised when eating, no long waiting times and quite a good portion. The price is also very good. It was very tasty and is really recommended.

Unfortunately I can only agree with a few people here, the food is good, the atmosphere is also very nice.... but the staff just seems overwhelmed, hospitality seems to be a foreign word. We were there for the second time now and there are restaurants nearby where service is more important than in the blacksmith's shop... so we won't be back in a hurry. Sorry

Excellent unassuming restaurant, Very tasty food and very nice staff. The atmosphere was rustic but chic, with the fireplace very appropriate and the chairs were a tad too hard for me. (This was improved by seat cushions added later) We'd love to come back.

First we had to wait 20 minutes for the menu and then another 20 minutes until we had our drinks. The food came quite quickly, but was only lukewarm and you almost had to look for the fried potatoes, there were so few of them. Drink replenishment was also very slow. Half past eight the music was turned down. When I asked if it could be turned up a little louder, I was told NO. At half past nine (open until 10 p.m.) we asked for one last drink: NO, the bar is already closed! And on Women's Day!! Too bad. Once and never again!

A damn great shop with a chic atmosphere thanks to the city wall, it looks so rustic and the menu has medieval terms for the dishes, the food tastes great and the staff is super friendly. Price performance ratio is right

We've been to the Alte Schmiede for the second time now. We're always thrilled 👍The dishes were so delicious...😋The service was very friendly and accommodating. Even our dog was allowed in. We'll definitely be back, we're already looking forward to the next time.

We had dinner there with several people the day before New Year's Eve. Very friendly staff. Super tasty, sufficient portions. And we didn't have to wait long for the food either. We'd love to come back.

The food was very tasty, the atmosphere was warm and pleasant, a really nice restaurant. Except for the really rude, almost moody waitress who showed us the table and took the drink order. A special thanks to the male waiter who pulled the service cart out of the dirt. For me, the employee of the month 💪

The restaurant is very cozy. Everything is clean and tidy, including the toilets. The menu is quite clear but you can find classics of German cuisine as well as something unusual. The dishes are very tasty, sumptuous and elegantly prepared. Unfortunately the staff wasn't exactly friendly. Rough, the guest would be referred to as "the", and some drink orders were met with eye rolls (we're talking about a completely normal latte macchiato like it's on the menu without any special requests). Too bad If the service were friendlier, it would be an absolute tip.

We got a great seat without a reservation, upstairs near the bar. The dog wasn't a problem at all and was immediately offered water. Was on a business trip in Rathenow three weeks ago. Very tasty food, especially the side salad was not standard, lots of little things, including a cherry. Very nice! Service is typically Brandenburg - very friendly in the Brandenburg way! If I'm back in Rathenow, I'll come back any time.

We were in Rathenow for work and were hungry when we arrived. Looking for something special we found a wonderful restaurant. The decor was great and the details were really nice. The food was very tasty and the service was excellent. The staff was very friendly and always asked if we needed anything else. Even though all the tables were reserved, we were still able to sit down. The outdoor area was open, but a little too cool for us that day. The prices were also reasonable.
