Well-kept old inn in the best Location! We ordered the Viennese style schnitzel and a Kaiserschmarrn 4 times and couldn't find anything wrong with it! It was just good, as we expected. The visit rounded off your holiday in the Allgäu! Our two large dogs were also allowed to sit in the dining room and were served by the staff for their good behavior! Very nice service. Thanks for that! Parking in public spaces only with a parking ticket.

Staff was great, our waiter provided great service because the food wasn't correct. (Red cabbage only tasted like fat, the knuckle was dry and only lukewarm.) New dish offered to make up for it, schnapps on the house.

I hadn't booked (and it was full) but they sat me at a large table together with 4 other naive people like me, fully satisfying my desire to dine in this beautiful historic place with typical local dishes, including excellent (obviously) beer.

Had Flädlesuppe and Kässpatzen. Were very good, we got a table for two straight away. I actually thought that the Kässpatzen in the Allgäu would be spicier, but I personally prefer it that way anyway. I'd love to come back

The young receptionist was cool and curt, but not unfriendly. The waiter was very warm and friendly (but not fake friendly), and he had a sense of when to speak to us and when not. At the beginning the ambience was a bit loud, as someone at the next table shouted his self-important sayings across three tables; After that, the volume level was quite acceptable. The menu offers a wide selection of very attractive dishes, making it difficult to choose. The prices aren't exactly great, but everything has become more expensive and we're in Kempten (I can't compare the prices with other restaurants, though). The food came quickly. My Allgäu plate was wonderful and very plentiful, and the person opposite me also obviously enjoyed his crusty roast (he had recommended the pen). The Allgäu platter says “pork fillet” on the menu. There were THREE fillets - considerable quantity and tender as butter. The only point of criticism (but that's complaining at the highest level): A "mushroom cream ragout" is plenty of mushrooms with a little sauce, and not a sauce with very few mushrooms. This sauce also tasted very good, although given the otherwise excellent quality of the food I would have expected fresh mushrooms rather than canned ones. Bottom line: absolute recommendation!

A great dining experience...again at any time

We always come back to the monastery and always eat well. Anyone looking for a down-to-earth, delicious meal will find something to their taste here. Depending on the season, there are also great variations such as pumpkin dishes etc. There are also vegetarian and even vegan dishes. A reservation is an advantage.

The hot dishes were delicious. The apple strudel was unfortunately sticky. There's a lot going on there, it seems stressful; Nevertheless, we spontaneously got a table for six of us.

We have already celebrated our wedding there and it is always a great experience.

Service very mixed. Male service courteous and friendly. One of the burly female conditions is rather subterranean. We swapped the beer table in the beer garden because of the sun. The whole garden was empty. Yes, the table was reserved...for 12:30! The change took place at 10:30! One drink at a time will finish you off. In any case, the reservation was pointed out in 2 hours in an extremely rude and bossy manner. He stood up in front of us and tapped the reservation slip with his outstretched finger and pointed out the reservation in 2 hours in an extremely unfriendly manner. Zum Stift is like a typical brewery. The food is good and the service is good considering the size of the restaurant. The only thing we have to complain about is the volume because of the mass of people, conversation is not possible.

Since a previous 1 star review was deleted by a mass-generated lawyer email, I will explain my experiences at the pen in more detail here. The selection of vegetarian dishes was quite limited on my last visit, especially in comparison to the rest of the menu, which is very meat-heavy. Furthermore, some of the vegetarian dishes are very "special" and are based little or not at all on the other menu, for example vegetarian ones could also be available Maultaschen or Krautkrapfen (without bacon) are offered. The waitresses were quite stressed, even though there were hardly any guests there and the guests felt this too... Customer-oriented service is different. The good reviews can only be explained by the generated deletion of the bad ones

Great food, nice service, everything as it should be.

Unfortunately, not for the first time, we weren't served at all. We sat in the beer garden for about a quarter of an hour, there was eye contact with the service staff, but when that didn't persuade them to ask us if we would like anything, we tried to draw attention to ourselves again with hand signals. We were definitely noticed several times and any staff with at least a sufficient service mentality would have known what to do. It wasn't so full that anyone could understand that. So we left the store after 15 minutes. To be honest, I personally have never experienced such poor service anywhere else in Kempten. It's actually a shame because I used to enjoy going to the pen, but the way things have developed over the last few years, that was the last time. The positive thing is that there are enough - very good - alternatives.

Schöner Biergarten, leider saßen wir bereits 20 Minuten bis der Kellner die Bestellung aufgenommen hat. Obwohl kaum Besucher im Biergarten waren. Da es im Außenbereich leider kalt wurde und ein Wechsel gewünscht war,war dies nur unter Umständen möglich also blieben wir draussen sitzen. Bis das Essen kam,dauerte es erneut 55 min. Schade,aber nicht wieder.

Together with several colleagues we were in the beer garden on a beautiful summer day. Nobody really noticed at first - but later we got our order. After waiting for over an hour, our food arrived, which was quite decent and good. After eating we had to pay attention again so we could (finally) pay.

We were there with a coach with 60 people with disabilities and seniors, We had lunch and were all very full within an hour. We came back in the afternoon to eat coffee and apple strudel and what can I say, it was just a dream. Very good cuisine, great service. And very importantly, everything is handicapped accessible.

We were in Kempten one evening on our way to South Tyrol and stopped here. The atmosphere in the beer garden is quite cozy, the food and beer were very tasty! We would come back at any time! The service was also friendly and quick, even though all the tables were occupied. The food also came promptly.

It was quite crowded outside, so we sat inside in a comfortable seating area. Nice service, the food came quite quickly and was consistently delicious. One of the best Kaiserschmarrn we've ever had, the rest was really good too.

Beautiful outside garden where you can sit. Once you have made a reservation you can sit at the small tables in the middle of the garden. If you don't make a reservation, you will end up sitting at large "beer tables", so it is also possible that you will have guests at your table that you do not know. The portions are generous, and the glasses of drinks are large by Dutch standards.

The food was pretty good, it was very typical “Allgäu”. i really enjoyed the food, it was just a little pricey and not the BEST i’ve ever had. The service was good and the waitress was very polite. they seemed very stressed and hence some of the other waitresses seemed a little passive, but again it was a really nice summer day so it made sense that it got really busy. we did really love how big the drinks were. we ordered two “schorlen” and they came in really big glasses. it was extremely hot and therefore we appreciated that a lot! the bathroom was really clean it was in the basement though so i’m not sure if they have another one that’s wheelchair accessible. therefore i’d recommend calling them and asking in advance if that is something that you need. thank you for the great food!

Wonderful place to have good food and drink. The holiday beer tasted very good and all the dishes were tasty and plentiful. Price performance definitely fits here. Service was very good and the beer garden invited you to linger. We stopped in Kempten on the way to Italy and ate there. We liked it so much that we stopped there again on the way back. They were two lovely stays. Highly recommended, gladly again.

The outdoor area is pretty enjoyable. Food was quite nice. The pork knuckle was crispy enough to break in the mouth. Challenged with parking as the paid lots nearby are pretty small. The billing process was too slow to get it done and go. In-house Wifi is required a password from staff but it is not really working well.

Fantastic place! Came in on a Saturday evening at around 7 PM and found a table instantly. It was just left by the previous occupiers, but the waitress was there in an instant to clear the table. Asked (in English, which wasn't a problem) what the local beer was and was given several options. The first round came promptly. The food came after about 15 minutes and it was a huge portion and bloody delicious! Sat at the table for another hour just drinking beer (since there was always a table free) and there was no hassle to get the table, we were just able to sit and enjoy great beer at a great place, in a great city on a perfect summer night. If I ever find myself in Kempten again, I know for sure where I'll come for my beer and food!
