Food is good but service not so much.

My first time at HUGOS and I tried the Spare Ribs. I was not disappointed! I come from the southern USA where bbq is a religion, and HUGOS ribs were among the best I have ever had. The pork was tender and there was a lot of it to enjoy. The dark, smoky sauce was also fantastic. I also had the delicious Avocado Salad.

In the Allgäu when it comes to steak, my number 1. A little more expensive but justified. If you want to treat yourself to something, it's definitely worth a visit.

Four of us ate there on a Saturday. There was hardly anything going on and yet we waited well over 1 1/2 hours for our food. Unfortunately, the service was nice but totally unprofessional. I forgot things several times and after 15 minutes the shandy or simply the wrong one was served to the table. The price of the meat is okay but everything else is extortionate in my opinion. In no other steak restaurant in the area do you pay so much for so little. A small bowl of BBQ ketchup, 1.50, herb butter a touch of nothing, 1.50??! A water with a few herbs in it. 6.50.- So even in Munich, Stuttgart or Basel the restaurants are not as keen on making a profit as here at Hugos in Kempten. After leaving 2500 euros, we were denied a stamp because it was shortly before 10 p.m. and the waitress wanted to get off work. Unfortunately no recommendation, we will never visit this restaurant again. A lot of room for improvement. For this money I would 100x prefer to go to another restaurant.

We had pork tenderloin. The taste was good. Unfortunately, both pieces of fillet were quite tough. Too bad. It's too expensive for that. As side dishes we had baked potatoes and bacon beans. That was very delicious. The atmosphere is very inviting and the service was friendly. We got to the restaurant at 8:30 p.m. But we were immediately told that the kitchen would stop serving hot food at 9 p.m. At 10 p.m. they were clearly happy and were right there when I put my wallet on the table 😉

Ordered 175€ plate. Medium was requested and what came was half inedible rubber and half raw meat. For 175€ and 1 hour of waiting you can expect something but then only getting inedible steak is outrageous and the side dishes were also all cold or completely charred. Paid a total of €200 and getting the whole thing for maybe 200 edible grams from an 1800 gram plate is outrageous and a merciless waste of money

Simply awesome, everything perfect!

Food was quite good, just not appropriate in terms of price...meat was very good, sweet potato fries were lukewarm, my burger was very good but fries were also lukewarm. But what I mean by upscale ambience is clean toilets. Unfortunately these were not clean.

Dinner for 2 people at least €60-70 Very high priced restaurant. Service wasn't good. Starter very small and wait 30 minutes for the main course

Unfortunately we didn't have the pleasure of dining here. According to Google and website, the restaurant was open. Unfortunately closed on site. However, the light was on.

The restaurant has a nice atmosphere but that's about it. Absolutely unjustified, far too high prices. Spare ribs were the worst I've ever eaten, so given the hefty price you'd expect something different or that they would at least be halfway tender. Too expensive, the information about 300 grams etc. is not correct at the front and back, got a handful of meat. There were 10 of us, some of the food was wrong, we had to return it, and the waiting time was long. Staff, service tried hard, but they couldn't speak German and were unfriendly. Conclusion: overpriced restaurant, with bad service.. Again? No thanks..

An extremely nice restaurant with friendly but not good German-speaking service. The burgers also taste very good, especially the signature burger. The meat in the burgers is always cooked through, which I personally think is very good. The steaks are a complete disaster. I ordered a 300 g dry age steak and received a completely dead, no longer edible piece of meat that was somewhere between 180 and maximum!!! 200 g lay. Please note that the loss of a dry-aged steak is only around 10%. This means that no amount of anything close to 300 g was ever put on the grill. Still I had to pay the full price. This is not okay at all! The price-performance ratio here is quite grossly distorted.

I had a really tasty meal here twice (lunch). I like the interior design and the service was very friendly.

We went to the restaurant to eat at 8:40 p.m. and were immediately told that it would be closed at 10:00 p.m. Food was quite good. The atmosphere is not very comfortable. The service was friendly.

Very tasteful restaurant with excellent wood-grilled burger patties with a great strong crust. The Signature Burger with a small rib-eye steak, a Black Angus patty and a fried egg, in addition to everything else on a good burger, was a dream. Only the steak house fries had far too much garlic oil for me. Unfortunately, the dry-aged steaks were not served to the level of cooking we ordered, which is unacceptable given the cost of around 37-45 euros per -very small- piece of meat and is a shame for the meat. In my opinion and from my experience, the grammage can also be questioned. So if you're looking for something cheap or for large portions, you've come to the wrong place, but if you want good burgers you should give this a try. I have to deduct -at least- one star for the clear deficiencies in the steaks. They were disappointing. But the service was friendly.

The ambience and the food were very good. However, the price-performance ratio doesn't fit at all. The prices are almost outrageous for what you get. However, the taste is very good.

We went to Hugo Essen today and it was a disaster. We waited 1 hour and 20 minutes for the food. I then got up, put on my coat and told the waiter that we were leaving now. He said the food and drinks would come in 2 minutes. We had to ask the waitress 4 times about where our food and drinks were. The restaurant wasn't full either, so the long wait was justified. We had pasta, steak and burgers for dinner. The food was horrible even though we wanted to finish our steak, it came out bloody, the burger wasn't edible either and the noodles were completely bland and tasteless. I then wanted to speak to the boss because I wanted to complain about it, but the waiter said there was no boss. The waiter was completely overwhelmed by the situation. We will never come back again. 180 euros for nothing. We were all still hungry and then went to the fast food place.

The gastronomic experience is characterized by exceptional freshness - the beef was slaughtered especially for us, which, however, meant a waiting time of over an hour. The truffles were also searched exclusively for us, which led to further delays. The fresh salmon from the Iller, caught especially for our salad, also contributed to an additional delay. Pasta with beef was okay. Salmon avocado salad way too expensive for what you get. Beef fillet was medium rare, truffle fries were okay. Food 3/5 stars The service, although the language was not fully understood, was friendly. There was a star deduction in the ambience due to the glare from the Rewe sign. Apart from that, the atmosphere is appealing. Way too overpriced!!! Overall, I rate the experience 3 out of 5 stars.

Had dinner on Saturday evening, first the positive. The ambience is very nice and the service is friendly, the meat is really of the best quality, and the meat is cooked perfectly as desired. But now comes the negative. We had to wait 1:45 hours for our food, even though the restaurant was only half full. After a long wait, the meat unfortunately came cold, and the 600g of meat stated on the menu was also not fulfilled. Approx. 300 - 400 gr. Not acceptable for a restaurant in this price range, because the best meat is not worth it cold. At over 100€ for 2 people, and only 2 water and a beer as a drink, you can expect better. We pointed out to the staff that the food was cold, but unfortunately there was no response…….. what a shame. I hope that I was able to help others with the review, but especially the owners of the restaurant.

In short, the food gets 4 stars from me and is more than fair in my eyes. For my taste, I rate the Hugo's Beef Mix (meat platter) 75€ (online 69€) with a 2+. The fries with truffle salt are okay, could be better... Grilled vegetables were too soft and had no bite at all. The Hugo's Signature Burger €22 (€21 online) gets a B-. Meat was good, the brioche bun was not brioche quite strange...and hard. The proportions weren't right, the important thing in the burger is the sauce and it was almost non-existent/present. A pity! Online menu prices were lower than on site, which is not possible in my opinion, but unfortunately that's the case. I hope I was able to help one or the other decide whether they should treat themselves to a visit or not :)

Very high priced restaurant. Service wasn't good. No advice, no friendliness and untrained staff. In this price range, dining has to be an experience. The ambience doesn't come close to any steakhouse... You sit on the presentation plate. Tight seating. Way too much light and not a good concept behind it! Music concept bad and inappropriate. The food was visually very nice. In terms of taste, it was a grade 2. Unfortunately, the meat arrived on the plate very cold, which doesn't surprise me when it's served on cold wooden boards. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant and will not visit it again.

Bin sehr zufrieden, dass Personal ist freundlich und sorgt für ne Angenehme Stimmung im Lokal. Tolles Essen die verlangten Preise sind Angemessen. Nur zu empfehlen👍🏼

Sorry aber , dass hat nichts mit steak zutun 35 euro für ein verbranntes steak spart euch das geld! Hamburger ohne liebe Vorbereitet da schmeckt es in mc donalds besser .

Einfach 5/5 Steak perfekt, Trüffel Pommes der Hammer, Cocktail mega lecker und Ambiente super schön, auch die Bedienung sehr nett und freundlich. Alles in allem einfach top. Sehr zufrieden und kommen definitiv öfters. Nur zu empfehlen, Preis/ Leistung passt super 👍👍

Was soll man noch sagen, hier passt alles! Das war absolut spitze heute! Immer wieder gerne!!!

Beef Tatar geschmacklos und ohne die Tatarsauce , die in der Speisekarte steht, dazu gabs eine scheibe Knoblauchbrot und bisschen Schnick Schnack auf dem Teller. Danach gabs Iberico Secreto, dass meines Erachtens nach noch nie Spanischen Boden gesehen hat....der charakteristische nussige Geschmack war nicht vorhanden und es war tot gebraten. Die Steaks meiner Begleiter waren gut gegart, aber geschmacklich auch nicht das Gelbe vom Ei. Die Kartoffelcreme bestand aus Instantpulver und war zu lasch. Besser frische Kartoffeln, ordentlich Butter, Salz und Muskat nehmen...wirkt Wunder. Klingt zwar arrogant, aber in der Preiskategorie darf man mehr erwarten.

Schönes Restaurant mit tollem Ambiente. Service zuvorkommend, freundlich und sehr aufmerksam. Preise entsprechend für ein Steak-Restaurant. Wir hatten einen Rib-eye Burger und Lachs und beides war von hervorragender Qualität und sehr lecker. Wenn wir wieder in Kempten sind ein Muss.

Soweit ein nettes Lokal, Essen ist lecker, Fleisch auf den Punkt serviert worden, und doch fehlen zu 5 Sterne das kleine gewisse Etwas. Leider stimmt für mich auch das Preisleistungsveehältnis nicht so ganz.

Das Steak war perfekt 👍 Besser hätte man es kaum machen können! Alles war sehr gut. Freundliche und aufmerksame Kellner. Leider hat es sich in vielen Restaurants eingebürgert, dass so gut wie alles extra bestellt werden muss und demnach auch zusätzlich berechnet wird. Somit summiert sich die Rechnung am Ende und es wird überdurchschnittlich teuer. Deswegen nur 4 Sterne. Trotzdem einen Besuch wert, für jeden der auf hohe Qualität Wert legt.

Das Fleisch war gut jedoch nichts ausergewöhnliches vorspeise jakobsmuscheln waren so naja was wirklich gut war war der Nachtisch. Ich hab schon deutlich extrawaganter gegessen

Leckeres Steak und tolle Beilagen. Der Hot Chocolate Nachtisch ein Traum. Das Lokal ist wirklich sehr schön eingerichtet und die Kellner sind sehr freundlich und aufmerksam.. kommen gerne wieder.

Das Restaurant begeistert direkt beim reingehen mit der tollen Atmosphäre und schönen Einrichtung. Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich, aber das beste ist das Essen. Das Steak ist auf den Punkt und geschmacklich sehr gut und auch alle bisher ausgewählten Vorspeisen war sehr lecker. Wirklich absolut zu empfehlen!
