We spontaneously stopped by for lunch today; both dishes from the lunch menu were absolutely delicious. Our child's special requests were wonderfully fulfilled 😀 We'd love to go again!

The food was quite tasty. Our waitress was also super nice. The boss, however, was impossible, which was a shame. Unfortunately, we were not made aware on the phone beforehand that there was another small Easter card. So not the regular card. But that was ok for us. And then about 4 other dishes were listed that were offered. We chose the schnitzel with mushroom cream sauce. For €18.80 according to the menu. Unfortunately, this was later billed as veal schnitzel for €29.90. Unfortunately the boss didn't let anyone talk to him. Instead, they cheekily said, "You've eaten it, then you'll pay." Unfortunately in an unpleasant way. Unfortunately we won't be coming again.

I am absolutely shocked by the steep decline in quality of the food. The top dog's new chef can neither cook red cabbage properly nor does the sauce shine with quality. It was thickened so much that it disgusted you. You can taste the vinegar in the red cabbage, but there are no cranberries or mulled wine spices or similar. Butter would have been nice too. It tastes bland and lacks spices. But it can thicken wonderfully. The red cabbage failed to shine. The sauce was absolutely disgusting. Even sauce whipped up from a bucket from the subway would taste better. Dear chef, please go to the Paulaner Restaurant (Schlachte) in Bremen and let us show you how to really cook Bavarian food. What you're offering is really bad. In the Paulaner in Bremen ( Schlachte) there is even puffed pork skin knuckle. They abolish themselves. I feel sorry for your staff. We came to Zum Platzhirsch twice every year. Result. Now there is a new owner. Now it's just top dog and there's no more roast pork. Under no circumstances will we come to visit you again. We did this twice each stay. Sorry, you cook badly. Even I can do it better personally, so I don't have to visit you anymore. Even their increased pricing is not worth the quality of their “arts”. By the way, their menu is far too big and annoying to open at your seat. Appearance is more than reality. Their dumplings were positive.

For decades we have always enjoyed eating at the top dog. Unfortunately we were disappointed for the first time today. The first thing we noticed was that there was only a very small and clear Easter card. When we asked, we were told that it was due to a lack of staff. When our food came, the vegetables on all of the plates were unfortunately cold and the portions were very manageable for the same price. It was the first time that we weren't full. We noticed that we weren't the only dissatisfied guests. The waitress was understanding and offered us a cappuccino on the house. It wasn't the last time we were at the top dog, but we very much hope that the situation and the quality of the food will be at the usual high level on our next visit. Our experiences so far have always been positive, and we look forward to visiting again soon.

The food was super tasty, we had knuckle that was also nice and crispy), the top dog plate (rump steak was medium), a fish dish and the roast pork. Everything was hot, very tasty and rich. Yesterday we were at the “Zum Platzhirsch” restaurant for lunch. We have been visiting this restaurant several times a year for many years. Even under the new owner we have been here several times. Unfortunately, yesterday was the first time I was really disappointed. For a long time now I have been treating myself to the premium dish “Tyrolean onion roast” (with fried potatoes instead of cheese spaetzle). Some time ago, this dish involved a good piece of roast (approx. 200g) with fried onions on a plate, a bowl of fried potatoes and the sauce separately in a bowl. Cost: approx. 26 euros. Yesterday this dish (currently costs 34 euros) came as a “plate dish”. On top the piece of meat with the fried onions, underneath the fried potatoes and then the sauce poured over everything. The small amount of fried potatoes were mushy due to the sauce and no longer crispy (unfortunately a handful were also coal black and no longer edible), the piece of roast was good in taste but unfortunately shrunk in size. I'm guessing that I only had about 150g of meat on my plate here. When I pointed out to the waiter that the sauce should be served separately, he replied that “you should have said that”. I would have liked if I had known that the dish would now be served as a plated meal (it was different and better in recent years). For 34 euros, the dish was really a big disappointment! I can't understand the quantity of roast and fried potatoes as well as the peculiarity of pouring the sauce over the meat and fried potatoes because it makes the potatoes mushy. I will continue to visit the top dog but will probably never order this dish again! It's a shame, it used to be my favorite dish there!

The food was bland and when asked we were told we wanted to cook with less salt. Vegetables lukewarm with a mini kleggs holo sauce....cute. Meat has no taste 😡and pork should be done too. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 please change that, otherwise it's a nice location.

We sat once on the terrace in the sun with a blanket in mid-March. A nice hot soup with it. Yummy! And the other time we sat in the beer garden at the same time. Super!

We eat here relatively regularly, but the last time was a blast. The service really only did the bare minimum, which is completely okay in my opinion. Nothing more than “What would you like to eat/drink? & Enjoy your meal” came. After she didn't get a tip, her mood suddenly went downhill and she had to comment again with another comment. Tips are given for above-average performance and not for the bare minimum. My friend had forgotten her cell phone and when I thanked the waitress for bringing it to us, all I got was a curt “yes.” If I didn't know that the other waiters and waitresses were better, I wouldn't come back.

My two brothers and I often go to Platzhirsch, about once a month. Last week we had the following experience: We had a reservation, three people at 5:00 PM, and we arrived on time. Friendly service. The beer was poured below the standard amount, and we noticed it after the foam had subsided. The food: I had Leberkäse (meatloaf) with fried eggs. The portion was okay, but only lukewarm, the eggs weren't turned over, and they were half-raw. The bombshell came at about 7:15 PM. We wanted to order drinks. The waitress tried to explain to us that the table was reserved and we wouldn't get anything else. Then the manager (I suspect) came and tried to explain to us that the reservation was only for two hours! But this wasn't mentioned when we made the reservation. We left disappointed and won't be back.

The top dog is and remains a good place to go, and the mini golf course also invites you to play when the weather is good. However, you also have to say very clearly that the prices have increased considerably here as well as everywhere else, as long as the portions don't become more expensive and smaller like others, I'm still willing to pay the money for it when I go out to eat. I don't know if the cook had a bad day or if he was swapped out for someone else, but my last visit and that of friends was completely dry, it felt like it had been killed in the pan again, and when I was making the slices my mom had to literally look for the meat, along with all the excess mushrooms. Yes, meat and everything else it feels like have become expensive, but the “mass” that comes to the table in the pot should still be balanced, otherwise it was actually quite good as always.

We have been loyal customers to this restaurant for many years, but our most recent visit was extremely disappointing. Unfortunately, a lot has changed with the new tenants. Despite having a prior reservation, we were kicked out after three hours of staying, presumably on the orders of the manager because there appeared to be problems with our reservation. It was a very unpleasant situation for us three brothers who were looking forward to a nice evening. I felt sorry for the waitress because she couldn't help the unfortunate situation and despite everything, she was friendly and tried hard. It is unfortunate that management does not have a better handle on such issues. After so many years as guests, we can unfortunately no longer recommend this restaurant. I hope management works to improve so future guests have a better experience.

A good restaurant for an ordinary evening. Very cozy ambiance with seasonal, opulent, yet harmonious decor. Service varies somewhat; generally friendly, approachable, and with pleasant/witty communication (which is why we love it), with a few rare, less-sensitive exceptions. The food is good—a good German/traditional/Bavarian selection. For my taste, it could be improved; I find some dishes at other restaurants with similar menus are a bit stronger. (But just recently, I had steak strips here, and they were extremely delicious!). The small ice cream served with your hot drink is unique and particularly charming.

During a 3-week seminar, we always spent our lunch break in the restaurant “Zum Platzhirschen” in Bremen. There was a list of pre-selected dishes for our group of about 20 people and the food was always served quickly. So far everything is good. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was sometimes poor over the 3 weeks. Ready-made sauces were often used and defrosted food was served. In addition, we have rarely received such poor and unfriendly service as we did here. What's surprising is that we had different staff over the 3 weeks, but across the board no one was friendly to us for even a day. Unfortunately, this experience had a negative impact on our breaks and we would have wished for a lot more friendliness and better quality. Never again!

New review - very satisfied this time I am referring to my negative review from three weeks ago. The owner called me the very next day. We had a very nice phone conversation. He apologized for the inconvenience and invited us to try again. Yesterday the day had come. We wanted to try eating kale again. This time it was a big difference from the previous visit. We came to a well-heated restaurant, the food was served hot, as you would expect, and... we all liked it much better. I don't want to embellish the whole thing, we even got a second helping. The bottom line is that we were all very satisfied this time. The boss himself came by, asked us if everything was okay and invited us for a few nightcaps. Unfortunately, since the change of ownership it is no longer what it used to be. Ordered a table that we didn't even get, would never have happened before! The great energy that the store once had thanks to the boys and the whole atmosphere is no longer there. Somehow it was a unit, now it's just a restaurant. Food is good, okay, but even there the prices have now gone way up. We're not going there anymore, but we wish the new owners all the best!

Delicious. Lunch dishes are cheaper. Nice rustic fitting ambience. Nice service. There are inexpensive children's meals. The children receive pens and a coloring mat with puzzles and coloring pictures. In summer you can sit outside in the beer garden. There is also a mini golf course there. There is enough parking space on site. There are regular events such as the cabbage party, asparagus party, and hut fun.

There are always regional and seasonal offerings on the menu. I've been there several times in groups of 4 to 10 people. We ate, among other things, Asparagus, kale, game, fish. The food is always good and plentiful. The ambience is rustic, the service attentive. I like coming back here every time.

Food was very good. Traditional cuisine. Sometimes very loud because many large groups come for cabbage drives etc. But we sat comfortably in the heated outdoor area. Service was top.

We were there in a group to eat kale. The terrace area was set for us, there was a fire at every table, and as soon as it was turned off the temperature went down. Everything else, food, service and ambience were very good, can be recommended

New: February 11, 2025 After we had such a bad experience with the old owner, I spoke to the new boss on the phone and she sounded quite upset. We decided to organize our cabbage tour with her again. When we arrived we were assigned seats in the cold winter garden. Blankets and fireplaces were prepared, but they were not enough to warm the foil construction. Even the service staff confirmed: “It’s really cold outside.” That's why some of our women (we had included a drinks flat rate in the offer) asked for hot tea. However, the tea cost money because it was not included. After some complaints it was at least free, but not because of the goodness of the operator, but because of several complaints and intervention by the DJ. When we asked for fresh glasses later in the evening, the answer was "They each received a glass, why another one" (äääähh: hygiene would only be one reason?) By the way, the vegetarian meal was a cheaply slapped together potato gratin with very little inside, in a very small portion. Upon request, the guest was given a soup, but not on the operator's own initiative... Even under the new ownership, it looks to me as if they want to squeeze as much money out of the guests as possible for as little service as necessary. More guests than possible are squeezed into the rooms and health or feasibility (apparently there weren't even enough glasses for that many guests) doesn't seem to matter at all. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - old Previous owner: Absolute chaos at the “Asparagus Tour” event. We paid 80 (!) euros per person for an asparagus tour event. What was offered as "full of asparagus" was a joke: First came the potatoes - but only the potatoes... When they slowly got cold, we ate them separately. 15 minutes later 12 asparagus arrived for our table of 8 people. Another 15 minutes later the schnitzels arrived. Another 30 minutes later another 12 asparagus arrived. What a joke! And everyone was in a bad mood: the service was cursing at the kitchen, the kitchen at the boss - pure chaos, followed by a fight instigated by a friend of the boss. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Never again!

Cabbage trip. We were accommodated in the cold plastic winter garden on hard bistro chairs in sub-zero temperatures, which was not properly closed. Thin blankets and a radiant heater were of no use. The alternative vegetarian meal consisted of a small soup and a potato gratin...sold as a full-bodied casserole. We had to pay for a warming tea. And the subsequent complaint was responded to in a condescending manner. Thanks, luckily there are plenty of alternatives. This is how you lose long-standing guests

We went to the Zum Platzhirsch restaurant for the first time for our annual Christmas dinner. We were all thrilled. Great food and drinks and nice, quick service. We had a wonderful evening and are definitely continuing to explore the menu. A quaint Bavarian-inspired restaurant. The prices and performance are okay.

Christmas dinner at “zum Platzhirsch” in a beautiful atmosphere and friendly staff who made this holiday possible for us and even forgo it. Thanks! Five different menus were offered, including starters and desserts. I had the medallions with wild mushrooms and potato gratin... very tender, very tasty. My accompaniment was the deer goulash, with red cabbage and a potato dumpling. Unfortunately the goulash didn't taste as expected, but rather indescribable, but not good.:(

We were here for the company Christmas party. The ambience is very nice. At Christmas time it was very cozy outside with lights. The staff left. One person was forgotten when the starter was served. When clearing away, a guest was "pushed" aside by the staff in order to clear the dishes on the opposite side. Professionalism looks different to me. Very rude. The main course was a good portion size. The pork tenderloin was tender but not seasoned well. The gnocchi were small potato dumplings, just as wobbly and mushy. Disappointing. The dessert was in a good portion and had a pleasant taste. The times between each course were good, not too short but not too long either. The toilets were clean, but due to the "wear and tear" a renovation in the near future wouldn't hurt.

It was our twins' birthday. We went to the mini golf course first and then wanted to eat there. But we were completely forgotten after ordering. This could only happen because the store was packed. But the behavior of the staff and management was really not good. We were put off several times: “Everything is going well.” After an hour, it dawned on the employees... After they asked in secret what we had ordered, I said that we no longer wanted the food if it had been forgotten. But the (apparent) leader said: “Let's go straight away.” That took almost half an hour and the only reason we didn't go was because it was the children's birthday. There was no concrete apology and no price concession. Only coffee was offered, which is probably not for children. Forgetfulness can happen, but it should be dealt with sensibly and openly.

If we lived in Bremen, we would come more often! Quaint Bavarian restaurant with delicious dishes and funny, great staff! Thank you for the lovely evening. The Viennese schnitzel, of course made from veal, also tasted very good and everyone else was also very enthusiastic about the knuckle with sauerkraut!

Ich habe selten SO schlecht gegessen. Wir hatten uns Wilderichte ausgesucht, aber die Enttäuschung hätte nicht größer sein können. Das Hirschgulasch war eine dicke braune Pampe, in der die angekündigten Waldpilze gar nicht zu sehen oder zu schmecken waren , der Rotkohl war matschig und eher grau als rot und die Preiselbeeren waren auch nirgends zu finden . Der Wildschweinbraten war total trocken und hatte einen muffigen Geschmack, außerdem gab es außer ein paar wenigen Pfifferlingen gar keine Soße. Beide Gerichte waren gar nicht bis wenig gewürzt, wir hatten den Eindruck, daß es sich um erhitze Fertigware ( Convinience Food) handelte. Nie wieder!!!!!

We spent a very nice evening with girls. The food was very tasty, the service staff were very nice and the mulled wine stands outside were beautifully decorated and looked great. We sat inside, relatively in the middle, which wasn't ideal, but it was also very busy (1 star deducted because of the seating). Otherwise, it was great, is highly recommended and we'll always come back!

We've been going to this great restaurant for about 15 years now, unfortunately there was a change on June 1st, 2024 and all the great staff are gone. Instead, there was a very unfriendly waitress with long black hair who answered my question whether I could also get a plate of reindeer very snippily, no, that's not available here. Last but not least, she went into the kitchen and asked! Then came back with the answer, okay, so we'll do it, but only today! THAT YOU KNOW RIGHT AWAY!!!!! It's a shame about the beautiful restaurant, such unfriendly staff!!!! That was the last time for us today.

There were two of us this evening. There was duck with red cabbage and dumplings, followed by apple strudel with ice cream and cream. 1. Red cabbage smelled burnt when served and tasted very smoky. If you couldn't eat, you told the waiter that something had gone wrong in the kitchen with the red cabbage. However, there was no further reaction. 2. Wrong sauce for duck, When I then said that the sauce wasn't the one that went with the dish, he wanted to check it too, but there was no further feedback. 3. Apple strudel was served, but the dough was still partially raw and tough like chewing gum, I assume it was thawed in the microwave and not baked. Didn't eat the dessert. They offered to give me a new dessert, but since several things had already gone wrong that evening, I lost my appetite. When the bill came, we were charged the full price despite the errors in the main course. Because of the botched dessert, we were given a schnapps. We were looking for a regular restaurant, but under these circumstances, the top dog is unfortunately not recommended. Maybe we were just unlucky, I hope that guests won't be treated like that in the future. You go out to eat and are happy to pay a euro or two more, but it should also be edible. A little training would do the service staff some good. A nice young, blonde lady behaved in an exemplary manner, polite and helpful, the waiter that evening could happily follow suit.

The food was then warmed up again and an apology was made. - Fries for children should be made with little salt. The fries were so salty that they were almost inedible, even for adults. Yes, you can let it go back, but we refrained from doing so so that the child doesn't scream at the store. - Schnitzel was okay, but who came up with the idea of ​​making the mushroom sauce with cinnamon? Even at Christmas it's quite adventurous. Sorry to the lady from the service for the meager tip, we rated the food more.

We've been here several times. Very tasty and great atmosphere. Everyone was very nice, the food was very tasty if you like southern German cuisine.

Unfortunately the place has gone down a lot lately. We always liked being there though This year it is significantly worse: wrong food, food not complete, drinks missing. It's a shame ☹️
