Beck's Bistro in Bremen

I've rarely eaten so badly in a restaurant; everything was frozen food, and even that was poorly prepared. The service was also bad; plates were cleared away before everyone had finished eating. All in all, there are many better restaurants in Bremen.

This one was all over the place: nice old building, standard boring, modern German bakery furniture, pretty mediocre food, but very friendly staff!

I ordered a glass of wine and the lunchtime schnitzel. At first, everything was good, and the waitress was very friendly. It wasn't busy either. I wasn't even asked if everything was okay, nor did the food arrive. After 45 minutes, I asked again. They apologized for forgetting to book (it happens sometimes). 15 minutes later, it finally came... "Can I offer you mayo or ketchup? That's on us." I burst out laughing, because offering that as "compensation" is a disgrace. I chose a portion of ketchup for 80 cents and received a small sachet (smaller than at the Restaurant zur goldenen Möwe). The schnitzel was definitely not fresh, and the fries looked good, but tasted totally smoky/burnt. Here, too, there was never a question about whether everything was okay, nor was the table cleared away. Then I asked for the bill. Again, they didn't ask any more questions; they just took the money. They probably knew they'd done poorly. Thanks for nothing.

A special request (no tomato on the burger) was noted by the server, but unfortunately, the kitchen couldn't fulfill it. The server apologized profusely and, as compensation, provided another drink on the house. The music was unfortunately a bit too loud.

Hey! Over the Whitsun weekend, I ate fried potatoes with bacon and egg and drank a non-alcoholic beer at Beck's Bistro. The food was delicious, and the portion was more than enough :) So, it's for people with a good appetite. :) Attentive service and a short wait were also very pleasing! I'll be back. P.S. After my beer was blown over by the strong wind, I immediately got a new one and another helping of fried potatoes, as they were soaked with beer. Thanks again to the team for the great service!

During our city trip to Bremen, we had lunch at Becks Bistro on a Monday. We ordered the tarte flambée with mozzarella and the currywurst with fries. Both dishes were delicious, although they could have been a bit cheaper (especially the currywurst). But then, it's right in the tourist center. Our waitress was very nice and friendly. All in all, everything was okay, but nothing special.

I was on a weekend trip to Bremen and spontaneously ordered a meal here after a boat tour on the Weser River. The service was very attentive, and the food arrived quickly. It was good value for money. I'd happily go back next time I'm in Bremen.

Our tour group arrived in Bremen on Ascension Day after a long train ride. We wanted to sit down and drink some Becks to acclimatize, so we stopped at this place. We were served extremely friendly by a Polish waitress, which gave us a great start to the rest of the day. Thank you very much.

Not again – disappointing food and questionable treatment of guests First, I'd like to highlight the positive aspect of being able to choose a seat without a reservation – that was a pleasant start. Our first impression of the service was also good: Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and prompt. Drinks arrived quickly, and the beer was truly delicious. Unfortunately, that's where the positive experience ended. A definite negative point was that we were refused a move to another, free (!) table with a better view – despite clearly not having a reservation. This was incomprehensible to us and left a bad taste in our mouths. The server in the adjacent service line was particularly unfriendly in this regard; they prevented this without any flexibility or explanation. It almost seemed as if only guests who consume heavily were welcome. The low point, however, was the food: The schnitzel was a bitter disappointment. For the price we were asked, we got an obviously industrially prefabricated product that had been carelessly thrown into the deep fryer. A complete failure in terms of both taste and quality – that's unacceptable. Conclusion: Despite friendly service and good beer, the overall experience was disappointing. The food was substandard, and the treatment of guests was at times disrespectful – for us, it's clear: we won't be going back.

After a brief phone call with a very nice lady, we reserved a table for two people. Upon arrival, it turned out that this wasn't necessary, as there were hardly any people in the bistro itself and we could almost choose our seating. The lady of the house was very quickly at the table and took our orders. We had two Spezis to drink and a tomato and mozzarella starter. Since we are from Baden-Württemberg and were visiting Bremen, I decided to try something local. Here, I opted for the herring fillet "Hausfrauenart" (housewife-style). Herring fillet with an apple and onion sauce, fried potatoes, and a small salad on the same plate. For something that calls itself a "bistro," this was an outstanding meal with a distinctly distinctive quality. The sauce paired extremely well with the fish, with a hint of sweetness, and the salty potatoes were a perfect match. Afterward, we had apple crumble cake and apple strudel for my girlfriend. She was just as enthusiastic about the food as I was, and we would come back anytime. The only thing is the price is a bit high, but that's probably due to the location, but the food is definitely worth it!

We asked for an allergen menu and were unfortunately told that neither the kitchen nor the staff (!!) could inform us about the allergens in the dishes. The service was very inattentive and incompetent.

An extremely sweet place located in the square. I'm sure you'll enjoy it as long as you don't stay up too late. The square is lively and has a very beautiful view. I definitely recommend it. It is one of the ideal places for tourists to have a drink.

Lovely café in the city center! The apple strudel was absolutely delicious. A cozy spot to relax and enjoy a treat — highly recommend!

This restaurant seems to thrive solely on location. A return is obviously not desired. Forgotten reservation, no friendliness at all, plates were cleared while people were still eating and instead of asking if everything was okay, they asked if you finally wanted to pay. In addition, you will be insulted by the staff. How can you offer your guests such a subterranean dining experience? I can only strongly recommend going a few meters further into the side streets, because Bremen has many other restaurants where you are welcome as a guest. When it comes to price/performance, I can unfortunately only confirm the many negative reviews.

Disaster of the store. Left hungry after 45 minutes without food. Also brought the wrong drink. If you don't have smart staff, you should close the shop.

We were with you with a group of 14 people with disabilities. Mehmet and his team looked after us so wonderfully! When our participants (wheelchair users included) had to go to the toilet, all the doors were opened for us, allowing us unhindered access to a listed building. We felt very comfortable! The last time I was there, I didn't like it that much (but I usually have a different idea of ​​Becks Bistro, see below). It was very cold, and where I sat (right next to the left entrance to the bistro), it felt very drafty on my feet, even though you're not sitting in the doorway or anything, which was kind of awkward. We and others were only told when paying that the card payment machine wasn't working (but it usually is). It would have been helpful for some to know before ordering. We observed several guests who had to get cash from somewhere first. What was also strange was that I couldn't order a single portion of fries. I was told they only serve them with nuggets or currywurst, for example, but not individually, as it's not on the menu. A shame. But I still wouldn't completely advise against it. Especially in summer, you can have a good beer there. There's a large outdoor area right on the market square.

We fell victim to an attempted scam. After a short visit with a simple order of twice seven beers and two servings of nachos, we were told without a bill to pay 165 euros. We paid cash and asked for the bill anyway, as we felt this was very much money compared to what we had consumed. Then the employee went to the back, after which she came back with a bill with all kinds of hot drinks added and a total of 162.50 euros. After much discussion, we were then refunded 30 euros. Sad way to settle drink money!

Nice atmosphere for a meeting between friends

We ate here twice at the same table. Once it was fall dinner and the second time it was winter. Both times were great. We have the table next to the window at the market. A hot tip - the apple strudel is absolutely delicious. We both also had cappuccino. The schnitzel was very good and our daughter had the tarte flambée.

Really nice restaurant in the main square. The food was excellent and traditional. I had the Pork with potatoes and mushrooms and it was delicious. Nice beers also and I had a little schnapps on the side. Very Well priced also. The service from the girl was exceptionally good but I did not get her name. All the staff were very friendly.

Oh well….! We decided to have lunch in this “bistro” on a Saturday around 2 p.m. in the sunshine. Due to the nice weather, all the tables outside were occupied, but there was little activity inside. The waitress responded quickly to our arrival and ordering the food was uncomplicated. After we sat down in a corner, we quickly noticed an uncomfortable station atmosphere. Loud clattering and clinking at the counter and from the kitchen made conversation almost impossible. People from outside were constantly running in to the toilets, both front doors were open (in cool temperatures), so we and three older women at the next table quickly froze and that alone made us feel uncomfortable. The food: pizza funghi. It wasn't a pizza but a tarte flambée. Super thin...sparsely topped and...cold. The waitress accepted my criticism (“coldly”), disappeared and…nothing else happened. Baked potato with turkey strips. Potato and meat with mushrooms were OK! The accompanying salad was fresh and plentiful...but the dressing was completely sour/vinegar-heavy. Accordingly, the salad was not edible. Too bad. Overall, we regretted our stay there. Too uncomfortable and restless with rather mediocre food and stressed staff.

The food was good, but the bill we received was way too expensive, the lady said 7 euros for kitchen staff, not for me again, you can eat well everywhere. I don't like fraud.

I think you are being robbed here as an outsider, so just say that you are going to order what it will cost, because a bottle of Becks of 3.3 cl will cost six and a half euros at checkout, which is three euros too much, two bags of mayo that come with the cutlery is two euros and this is normal with the fries and then you ask what the other extra seven euros are for and this for the chef? Estábamos buscando un lugar para tomar una copa rápida, antes de continuar por el hermoso mercado. Vimos el bar anunciado Sky Sports y habíamos estado mostrando un juego antes. No estaban mostrando el balón en ese segundo, así que dudamos: la camarera nos aseguró que lo mostrarían. 2 horas después y varios intentos - no hay fútbol. The bistro 💁 was well filled and the atmosphere was appealing and cozy ☺️. Of course, you also pay for the good location in terms of price. 💸💸💸 The beer🍻 came to the table in no time and the Schnitzel Jäger Art🥩🍄‍🟫 didn't take long to arrive either ⌛. The service 💁 friendly at all times. The food 🍟🍽️🥩 was really tasty. The fries 🍟 nice and thin and crispy. The sauce 🍮 was nice and thick and the juicy schnitzel 🥩 was a nice size. All in all, we were full 😋 and I would come back again and again 😀. I really liked that at Beck's Bistro🍺.

Overpriced store with good service staff who unfortunately are not given the necessary leeway for a good customer experience. We had 2 for 1 vouchers for beer that were tied to the order of a meal, after we ordered our first beers there were additional conditions that were not previously explained (minimum order value). Since we were no longer satisfied with the conditions, we had to pay for the beer (almost €7 for 0.5 liters). At the end of our visit the doors were left open and there was a draft, but we were leaving anyway. I don't want to judge whether it had something to do with the fact that it was nearing closing time. Unfortunately a negative experience, we won't go there again. Fyi: There were hardly any vegetarian options on the menu.

This bistro is simply great. The staff is great. Fast and customer-oriented. We were there on Saturday, October 19th. there in the morning and afternoon. You just can't beat the waitress on the early shift. Reserved a table at short notice for the afternoon. Several of us had the cheese plate. When it was almost empty, it was refilled without any problems. WITHOUT additional charge. Everything is just right here. Highly recommended.

The butter vegetables (canned peas and carrots, warmed without butter or spices) and fries tasted like oven fries, definitely too long in the oven and also unseasoned. Same with Jägerschnitzel. Schnitzel good, side dishes a disaster. 2 people, 65€! Rarely have I had such a bad meal! Ambience modern, uncomfortable. Plus flies everywhere!!!!!!!! Very unsavory. Cigarette butts and dirt on the floor. Bad underground toilets. Full of piss and torn off soap dispensers, dirt as far as you can see!!! We only ate there because we couldn't get a table anywhere in Bremen without a reservation and we were hungry and were spoken to very nicely by the waitress. We were asked whether the barely touched fries and side dishes should be packed, I replied in the negative with a smile. No question as to whether everything was OK... rarely had a meal that was so bad. If anything, it's so bad. I do not think so. So, leave it. All that was missing was that we got the shit. ;)

On the way back from Scharbeutz we stopped in Bremen. We went to Becks for dinner and had fish and chips. The fish was crispy on the outside and to the point on the inside. The homemade tartar sauce was also very good with the cucumber pieces. The fries were also well made and seasoned. All with a view of the historic town hall.

We ate the lunch menu today. Tagliatelle with champions and fillet strips. I haven't eaten worse at a chip shop. Tagliatelle overcooked - chamions hardly available - fillet strips hard (the poor beef that died for it). The staff was very arrogant and didn't accept any criticism (they prefer to shake their butts). The highlight was that I got my change of 20 cents back in cent pieces. All in all ......a shop that I can never, ever recommend.

Unfortunately, super bad food for the money. The Wiener-style schnitzel is frozen and the buttered vegetables are just poured from a can with water onto the plate. It's a shame for the really great location. The name Beck's right on the market square really suggests more.

We were in Bremen for three nights and had dinner with you on all three evenings. Of course the location can't be beat. The food was great and the prices were also great considering the quality and quantity of the food. But the best thing was the service!!! Super nice and just great 👍 Who. We were spontaneously passing through and ended up there. I had salad with baked potatoes, which tasted ok. But the portion size was small (baked potatoes were mini). That for 16.90 euros. My husband had currywurst with fries, the taste was terribly bad. Our son had the burger, equally disappointing. The waitress hardly let us eat until she arrived and said she was off work (afternoon) and would like to cash in. The idea of ​​sitting relaxed and having another drink is gone. Another waitress spilled the drink all over the table (which can happen, but fits with the overall impression). The food itself was still exposed to an annoying background noise. A man played the guitar with a pan flute poorly. At the same time, there were construction noises (strong squeaking) because something was being built on the market. Afterwards we went to the bakery and got cake to get rid of the strange food taste (weird fries). It's a shame for so much money. Never again

Eating on its terrace is being able to enjoy the wonderful Markplatz and all its movement and joy. Fast service, so fast that if you are careless for a moment they will immediately take your plate away. But apart from that the food is good (a little expensive, but we are where we are).
