Unfortunately, only one vegetarian dish was available.

We love traditional cuisine. There were many new flavors for us, and we only partially enjoyed them. The goose and duck weren't attractively presented. There was too little selection of wines by the glass.

A very successful evening with excellent food in a beautiful setting and impeccable service.

Upon arrival, the table was beautifully set. The service was pleasant, very attentive yet discreet. The food was beautifully presented on the plates and of excellent quality. The cuisine is very good, featuring regional suppliers. The restaurant also offered a superb and exquisite selection of both regional and international wines.

My pork was a little tough. Had to wait long for the bill. Didn't like the wine

A cozy Swabian restaurant with style

The service was, as always, attentive and friendly, taking our food orders without any digital or written assistance – and the food arrived exactly as requested! Our dog was also welcome, and the food was, as always, simply outstanding! It was another delightful lunch in Kernen…

There were four of us eating. The menu is modern, though a few classics have survived. Very solid cuisine with fresh, regional products. This is reflected in the price. Anyone expecting a simple, rustic meal will definitely be disappointed. Of course, nobody's perfect, and when it comes to food, personal taste is always a factor. The house-made pastrami as an appetizer was particularly outstanding; it clearly demonstrates the difference between a supermarket and a local butcher. For those with a sweet tooth, there's homemade mousse and sometimes even ice cream. Cooking is a craft, if not one of the oldest of all. And you can taste the difference. Everything else is available at chain restaurants like kebab shops, McDonald's, and the like.

The menu was very limited, especially regarding the appetizers. The pike-perch in choux pastry was on par with what you'd find at a North Sea restaurant, only more expensive.

Very nice and cozy atmosphere, no frills. Friendly staff and good food. The sparkling tap water is too expensive.

If you're not hungry, have plenty of money, and time, then you can go. The portions of my food, both the starter and the main course, were tiny. And that was over 50 euros. The food wasn't really warm and was very salty. Unfortunately...

We had excellent roast beef with onions there. I found the Maultaschen soup too expensive.

This was my first time at the "Zum Ochsen" restaurant, but I'd heard a lot about the place. It was about the history behind it, the attached butcher shop, and the excellent food in the restaurant itself. The fact is, the food was very good, the decor is a little dream, and the staff more than lives up to the somewhat upscale ambiance. The staff is truly more than friendly and very accommodating. There's also an extensive wine list featuring fine wines. I can highly recommend this restaurant to people who appreciate a certain ambiance and a slightly upscale experience. 👍

Natürlich, hier ist eine umgänglichere, sachlich-kritische Version deines Feedbacks: --- Wir waren zum ersten Mal seit der neuen Bewirtschaftung im Restaurant zu Gast und saßen auf der Terrasse, die an diesem Abend nur wenig besucht war. Die reduzierte Speisekarte begrüßen wir grundsätzlich – sie kann auf frische Zubereitung und eine klare Linie hinweisen. Umso überraschter waren wir allerdings von der Auswahl und Zusammenstellung der Gerichte. Es fiel uns schwer, ein erkennbares Konzept zu erkennen – von traditionellem Wiener Schnitzel über Vitello Tonnato bis hin zu Lamm mit Algen-Miso-Kruste und einem sehr speziell interpretierten Risotto war alles vertreten. Die Präsentation der Speisen war – mit Ausnahme des Schnitzels – eher unauffällig, auch geschmacklich konnten uns die Gerichte nicht wirklich überzeugen. Auch der Service wirkte etwas ungewohnt und nicht ganz eingespielt. Wir schätzen kreative Küche sehr – besonders dann, wenn sie gekonnt umgesetzt wird. Unser Eindruck war jedoch, dass hier das kulinarische Konzept noch nicht ganz ausgereift ist. As a "non-local," we visited on recommendation and were not disappointed. Excellent food with flair and sophistication, from starters to desserts. A very interesting wine list, including some lesser-known wineries (happy to ask for advice). Special praise goes to the staff. Attentive, friendly, extremely competent, and super personable. Honestly – and in short: UNFORTUNATELY AWESOME! What an experience here when it comes to food and drinks. Sommelier Homayoun and Connissiere Christine were so – Deichkind would say “Unfortunately AWESOME” – inspiring and delightful. Simply magnificent – definitely try it!

We were here for lunch on a Sunday and were delighted. It was a very sunny, hot day, and we got a lovely, shady spot on the terrace. The asparagus served with pancakes and béchamel sauce was wonderfully light and modern. We paired it with a "Riesling with a twist" from Beurer—a wonderful discovery! The service was excellent overall, and we will definitely be back.

Service during the meal was great. But it was a little bit too much effort to find an appropriate menu And to make all the arrangements before hand. Other locations act Here way more professional. But still a clear recommendation from our side. Especially the winter garden and the Terrace are beautiful. We had a family lunch with 20 person in May’25.

Meat portion of veal ragout a little small

Our expectations were high, hence perhaps the disappointment. The meat dishes were good, but not very good. I didn't like the combination of the fish dishes at all. Some of the portions were so small that we weren't satisfied with the starter and main course! There was no one evidently running the restaurant (no owner), although the waiter did try very hard...

We haven't been to your house for a long time. The food is good, the service is friendly, but the staff is not professional. When it comes to professional service staff and clothing, you could certainly take an example from an address in Hebsack. My guests commented on the clothing and appearance of the "younger generation" of the service. These could actually be a little better maintained, in keeping with the house. The service is also too fashionable for its category. The sauce was not served in a gravy boat, but in a kind of vase. That seemed strange. We were a bit disappointed in terms of the atmosphere; it is kept rather cool and sterile. Due to the tables being placed far apart, the dining room appears hall-like and not cozy. Whether you want to talk to the person sitting next to you at the table is up to you. But it wouldn't be possible at all. We didn't find our visit to your home to be a comfortable time, but rather an anonymous meal appointment.

The food is good, some of it is good value for money, some of it is not quite right. Above all, the wine list is completely overpriced. That's a shame, so you can hardly afford a bottle of wine for two to accompany a good meal with a starter and main course. Overall, our first visit to the Ochsen was okay, but not so convincing that we would necessarily go back a second time.

We were there on February 14th. there. The Ochsen team put a lot of effort into the decoration and their own card for the day. Food as always very good. The taste and presentation were of a high standard. The house and the guest rooms are stylishly furnished. Everything was super clean and you can look into the open kitchen. Extensive wine list with regional wines.

The food was excellent, very authentic and creatively enhanced with fine flavors. The service was great and really nice, we were given an excellent wine recommendation! The restaurant was completely booked and therefore tables were set up in the covered winter garden. The atmosphere there was less cozy than in the actual restaurant, so only three stars for the ambience. Overall, a great restaurant and the dining room is super cozy with a tiled stove.

Cozy restaurant. Friendly and attentive service... Unfortunately the preparation of the food was a bit cloudy. Beef fillet tips were dry and some pieces were slightly on the chewy side. Salt line at the sound barrier, less would have been nice. The breaded venison schnitzel was also dry, the breading had completely come off. The starter salad, i.e. field salad, was delicious and perfectly prepared. After the complaint in the restaurant, the waiter's comment was, yes, I'll pass it on to the kitchen. Drinks were ok. I would like to note that I am very reluctant to criticize. The current cuisine does not come close to the times of the previous operators of the restaurant, the Schlegel family. It is still unclear whether we will visit the restaurant again. We have slightly higher expectations in this price segment. I can't make a recommendation, everyone can try it out for themselves. My point of view and taste perception is subjective and contains no reference.

The wine pairing was also very appropriate, and I also really enjoyed the German wines. Can keep up with some French people. The service was remarkably good. Always came at the right time and knew how to communicate well. Polite and also presented the food and wines in an understandable way. I haven't had such good service in a long time. The atmosphere is very pleasant, nice and quiet and you can have a good chat with your companion without disturbing other guests. The drinks are also great, I especially enjoyed the whiskey sour. It was a wonderful evening: I was a guest at the Ochsen as a child - now the time-honored building and its concept have arrived in the present day. A modern and diverse menu that also offers all sorts of delicacies for vegetarians and well-balanced wines - mostly regionally grown - offer something to suit every palate at a fair price-performance ratio. The service is professional and communicative - you feel seen and warmly welcomed at all times. Conclusion: If you appreciate creative, upscale but also down-to-earth cuisine, regionality, seasonality and a passion for homemade products, Ochsen is the right place for you! Gladly again and again...

Kurzfristig zu einem Besuch entschlossen und auch ohne die gewünschte Reservierung herzlich willkommen gewesen. Das Essen war sehr lecker. Auch für Vegetarier/Veganer gibt es gute Angebote, Die Blumenkohlsteaks waren nicht nur ein Verlegenheitsangebot für Fleischlos-Gäste sondern wirklich geschmackvoll und raffiniert zubereitet. Auch die Schweinelendchen waren richtig gut. Das Ganze ist natürlich nicht ganz günstig, aber sowohl das Essen als auch der Service sind seinen Preis wert.
