There's always something new to discover at this guesthouse. The breakfast buffet offers a wide variety of delicious options, with something to suit every taste. The staff is very friendly, and the rooms are spotlessly clean. Even our dog was warmly welcomed.

We ate at this restaurant for the first time today, even though we've lived in Geising for four years. The atmosphere was lovely. The service was excellent – ​​very attentive and friendly. Thumbs up for the food! Simple but delicious. Highly recommended. Keep up the good work! 😉

We stayed from October 19th to 21st. The rooms were superbly furnished, the breakfast was ample and perfect, and we will definitely come back. Dinner was also excellent; we lacked nothing.

A rustic dining room (oak chairs stained a nice dark color) with a beautiful décor. The decor matches the name. The food is very good and filling.

We came here twice for dinner and once for coffee during our week-long vacation. The food was always delicious. The staff was very friendly and prompt, even when the place was full. The restaurant has a quaint yet beautiful interior. We would happily recommend this inn.

A special ambiance with a rustic flair and excellent, down-to-earth cuisine. It was the best roulade I've ever had in a restaurant, as if it were homemade! The highlight, however, is the incredibly delicious apple strudel 🤤!!! The service was excellent, always attentive and friendly. The rooms are a bit noisy, but clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet is extensive. We'll be back!

The food tasted okay, but it's a disgrace to order goulash and there's no meat. When I asked the waiter, he only gave one answer; we always do it this way.

The service was very friendly, courteous, and very receptive to a little joke to lighten the mood. Last-minute reservations were no problem at all. The food was very tasty. We were pleasantly surprised by the value for money. Even when the tables were full, we were surprised at how quickly the individual courses were served, without any standard discounts being given. All in all, we visited twice during our three-day vacation and would definitely visit "Zum Erzgebirge" again... High praise indeed...

We were absolutely satisfied! The food tasted just like Grandma used to make. The wild mushroom soup and solyanka were fresh and incredibly delicious. Not from a packet. The zander was fresh and super tender. The roulade with dumplings reminded me of my childhood at Grandma's. This restaurant is absolutely worth recommending!

The ambiance was good. From the outside, it looked really pretty. Typical of the Erzgebirge region. Inside, too, except for a few broken figures on the candle arch at our table. Everything was a bit dated. But okay. The dishes on the menu were promising, but the food on the plate was unfortunately a disappointment... both in appearance and taste. Croquettes from a packet, salad a bit old and dry... simply drizzled with a bit of balsamic vinegar, schnitzel very marbled, topped with a remoulade sauce that made it almost inedible. The roulades and red cabbage sauce were okay. Tasted okay, but the tasty sauce was like it had been warmed over, there were two huge bacon rinds in the roulade, the dumplings were sandy, and the red cabbage was bland. The service was friendly, but when I honestly asked if everything was okay, she just pulled a face and rounded down the remaining amount at her own discretion when paying. Not recommended.

Hello, I fondly remember my high school years when I was in the guesthouse before Christmas 2007 for an internship from the Hotel School in Teplice. I can truly say that the staff and actually the colleagues were amazing. I think Mrs. Emanuela Gimsa is still in charge. It helped me a lot with my German and they treated me very nicely🤗. I have the impression that their son has perhaps learned Czech, which I admired. I wish the guesthouse many wonderful guests. Hopefully I will be able to visit there again one day.

We felt very comfortable here. The room was cozy with a large bathroom, the staff very friendly and helpful, and both the breakfast and the food in the restaurant were excellent. We stayed here one night before our four-day hike in the beautiful Eastern Ore Mountains and can highly recommend this guesthouse.

The Erzgebirge-style house (lots of decorations with wooden figures, candle arches, and smokers) is inviting and quaint. The terrace is okay. On the way to the restrooms, the building's age is evident. Restrooms are okay (one of the women's ones couldn't be locked). The paper towel machine is broken. The service was okay. We were asked frequently if everything was OK – however, when ordering and the first time we asked about a special request, we were told that only the dishes on the menu were available. There were nine of us. Schnitzel with asparagus: 2 stalks of asparagus, deep-fried schnitzel (which were okay, but had a lot of breading). Potatoes and sauce, of course, warmed up. (18 euros) Camembert: A round Camembert on a slice of toast – not really melted; could have been heated longer. The arugula used for decoration was partially dried out and had dark, moldy edges. (Too expensive for 10 euros.) The aspic was okay. Venison roast is also good, but the quality of the food is mediocre. There's definitely room for improvement here – with a few small touches. Drinks are okay, except for the cherry spritzer (it was definitely syrup with water), I think that should be mentioned. It was terribly sweet. All in all, I wouldn't go back and would rather look for something more suitable nearby. It wasn't terrible, though – there were a lot of bikers and a few families there, thanks to the location on the road.

The (new) Czech operators try very hard, very friendly service, everything fresh, good portions and everything we had on the table tasted great. Plus it's obviously the only restaurant where you can get something to eat after 6 p.m. on public holidays in Altenberg. We'll definitely come back and hope that the remaining slogans on the facade will be blown away by the new wind ;-).

We were here for the first time. The ambience was exceptionally beautiful if you know the Ore Mountains. The friendliness that reigns here is great! The rooms were very clean and, despite an extra bed, there was a lot of space.

It's been a long time since we've been back to Altenberg and the restaurant "zum Erzgebirge" is a must for us... what can we say, still wonderful. Nice staff, service, great food, fresh and warm. Definitely planned again on our next vacation in the region. Thank you, you are a great team.

Location und Service gut. Essen war unglaublich schnell da, weil es TK und aufgewärmtes war. Die Kinder hatten Senioren Portion Gulasch, Gericht war „nur“ ein Euro günstiger als der Kartenpreis. Fazit: wir würden hier nicht wieder her gehen, da das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis der Speisen nicht passt.

I haven't been in such a pleasant place in a long time. Stylish guesthouse, great accommodation incl. free parking options. We were surprised by the Czech-speaking staff. Great dinner and breakfast in the form of an excellently equipped buffet (even on Sundays). Thanks, we'll be happy to come back.

The restaurant offers a very nice and individual ambience. The staff is friendly and on the ball. The food is okay, and unfortunately this is mainly due to the very small portion size. It's a shame that as a 60kg woman you can't get enough from one main course.

German and free... Yes, you can experience a large portion of Arzgbirg here - the inn is also a kind of museum for toys and crafts. Probably too expensive for a quick ski snack, but otherwise recommended for a stop.

Getting from the parking lot to the house was a real challenge because it wasn't gritted but was icy - dangerous. The service was good and the ambience too. The food was very good and hot too. There was only one criticism: the fried potatoes could have been fried more. I have no understanding of the drink prices 0.1 = €1 or more.

The service was very nice and quick, the ambience, well, it's quite nice (it's a matter of taste). The menu is totally chaotic (several changes between food and drinks), somehow confusing. The food itself, well, little meat in the goulash, a lot of fat on the meat, gristle in the chicken schnitzel, the fries weren't cooked properly, the solyanka had some of the tomato soup from the bag and somehow the food wasn't really hot, even though it was very quick was brought. The taste was okay, but it didn't blow us away.

It was pretty cool but there was a bit of egg shell in one of the schnitzels.

Everything you can do at home, far too many ready-made products. (fried potatoes, pancakes) Too bad. Not a failure but I wouldn't do it again.

The town of Altenberg is very nice, lots of small shops, very nice people, good bakery. You can also go downhill skiing there, very well maintained. They also have a very nice campsite with nice operators.

I've been a regular customer for more than 30 years. You have to have been there. Are also here in summer.

The decor is cute. If you don't like knick-knacks and wooden figures, you shouldn't go in, because the dining room is full of them and not everything is original Erzgebirge (unfortunately there is also Chinese goods, which we didn't think was so great). The staff is nice. You get your food very quickly (we had goulash with dumplings). It was ok and it tasted good (even if it wasn't a culinary highlight). And it should be sprinkled in front of the restaurant and in the parking lot. The access road was very icy.

A special tin figure exhibition will take place at this location from December 1st, 2024 to March 2nd, 2025 to mark the 100th birthday of Klio Dresden, the collector of cultural-historical tin figures.

Cozy restaurant with extremely fast and friendly service. We found the food we chose very tasty. The portions were so big that we couldn't finish it. The rest was neatly packed up to take away. The pricing is moderate, reasonable. We got a table without an appointment on Saturday evening without any problems. If we are in the area again, we would be happy to come back again.

Was a very nicely decorated interior. Some people probably wouldn't like that, but as a foreigner it was very nice to see the typical craftsmanship from the Ore Mountains. A yeast dumpling, apple strudel and pancakes were eaten. The latter had a bit too much vanilla sauce for my taste and the Germknödel didn't have enough. Service was quick and friendly.
