Zum Birnbaum in Bad Windsheim

The inn is very centrally located but somewhat hidden. Very good food, clean rooms and the bed is just fantastic, firm mattresses (no hammock as we have experienced so often) and also fly screens on the windows. The landlord and his wife are very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended.

An old but well-kept inn in a very good, central location. The only problem is the parking spaces (old town, narrow). If you want to park in the inner courtyard, you have to take the next street on the left. But be careful. The entrance is so narrow that you can only make it if you drive up the street, turn around at the top and then go down from the top and turn right into the yard. It doesn't work from below because the street is more of an alley and narrow and the neighbor in the house opposite has heavy flower pots in front of the house, which make it even narrower. (see the photos with the arrow from me below) The room was of normal size for a single room, clean and well maintained. Unfortunately, a second pillow was missing, which is not the fault of the inn, but is unfortunately the case in 80% of the accommodations. Unfortunately, people don't think about the fact that there are many people who can't sleep that low. But there was a blanket to roll up and lay under. Helps too. When it comes to the bathroom, however, it must be said that the toilet is very inconveniently located (because there is hardly any space in front of it). People with long legs or "not so slim" ones might have a problem ;-) Shower good and water gets hot very quickly - not like in many other accommodations where you have to let it run for 10 minutes... :-) When you check in, ask for the WiFi password straight away. There is no information in the room. Breakfast is good and so is the coffee :-) I also found the food there (only limited kitchen hours) very tasty. The room price is extremely fair! So for me as a single traveler it was something I would definitely go to again. As a suggestion for improvement, I would put a small drinks fridge with a trust fund or something like that on the ground floor of the stairwell of the accommodation. If someone doesn't have enough drinks with them and gets thirsty in the evening. Just an idea.

The food in the restaurant is delicious, just like your mother's, and the price is unbeatable ...come back!!!!!

Quaint ambience. The food and drink were great, but the price for the side “salad” at €2.80 was too much to swallow, as it is really very small and almost loveless. In addition, the prices on the Internet are different than on site (main courses are 2 euros more expensive and side salads are 1 euro more expensive).

My wife and I went on vacation for a week We received a very warm welcome and were given our room straight away The registrations were uncomplicated. The food was also very tasty 😋 😋. Above all, everything was freshly prepared. We will definitely vacation there again next year. Highly recommended 👍👍👍👍 We wish the Rühl couple a nice time and stay as you are. A really great inn. The Lindenbad has been around for many years and I finally had the opportunity to stay during Fischertag 2024. We had a room on the upper floor. Everything new, everything clean. The dinner is rich and delicious. The menu features Bavarian dishes at absolutely reasonable prices. The breakfast is also rich: fresh rolls on Sunday, orange juice, several types of sausage, cheese and jams were served to the table. We ate outside in the beer garden because of the warmth. Shady under trees with a stream. Wonderful, but unfortunately far from Berlin. I'll still come by again.

Older inn with a typical appearance. Very nice host couple who also respond to your wishes. Give tips for current discount promotions from the Freilandmuseum or thermal baths when you register. We were happy to spend what we saved elsewhere in Bad Windsheim. The furnishings in the rooms have been around for a few years, but are absolutely clean (you have to remember that you are visiting an inn and not a four-star hotel), even fly screens on the windows. The breakfast has a small selection but is absolutely sufficient, eggs are prepared according to your wishes. We felt welcome and comfortable and would book here again.

Great cuisine, with really large portions. Small, fine card - quality is clearly important here. Service quick and friendly. Gladly again at any time and absolute recommendation!

There were four of us at the Gasthof Birnbaum. It's rare to find such a friendly and attentive host couple. We will keep coming back!

Wir waren abends essen. Ambiente ist rustikal und zweckmäßig. Wir saßen im Nebenraum, da ist es ein bischen sehr nüchtern. Überschaubare Speisekarte: Tagessuppe und 4 Hauptgerichte + 2 Tagesgerichte. Portionen sehr ordentlich, Preis/Leistung allererste Klasse. Wo bekommt man heute einen kleinen Sauerbraten mit Klos noch für 7,50€? Die Essen, die wir hatten, waren gute, solide Hausmannskost und schmackhaft. Bedienung (Chefin?) fränkisch herzlich. Toiletten sehr sauber. Kann man gut hingehen, vor allem bei kleinem Geldbeutel, da die Preise wirklich sehr fair sind.

Leckeres Karpfenfilet, schnelle Bedienung. Immer ein Besuch wert.

Wir waren zu viert dort nach dem Besuch im Freilandmuseum. Der Service war exzellent. Wir hatten Cordon Bleu, Kinderschnitzel, Schweinebraten und Karpfen paniert. Letzteres war die Empfehlung vom Wirt, steht nicht auf der Karte. Die Portionen waren gut. Das Cordon Bleu echt groß und auch die Kinderportion wirklich für ein Kind (5) geeignet, auch vom Preis her echt super. Ich hatte den Schweinebraten mit Knödel. Das Fleisch war sehr zart, die Sauce ein wenig anders als bei uns in der Oberpfalz, aber gut. Die Knödel waren leider fad, wobei die panierten Sachen n Tick zu salzig waren. Aber noch ok. Wir haben für alles zusammen 59,-€ gezahlt, da kann man echt nicht meckern. Der Wirt war stets aufmerksam und freundlich, da könnten sich andere Lokale mal ne Scheibe abschneiden!

Hervorragend - wir hatten superleckeren Karpfen mit Kartoffelsalat....die Gaststätte ist urgemütlich. Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen

Im Birnbaum fühlten wir uns wie um Jahrzehnte in der Zeit zurückgereist. Urige Kneipe mit einfacher Einrichtung. Rustikaler, fränkischer Charme des Wirts, kleine Karte mit Klassiker und fast unanständig günstige Preise. Das essen war rustikal und lecker. Der Saubraten, den ich hatte, unprätentiös ehrlich und fein. Hoffe ein paar solcher Wirtschaften überleben noch lange.

Rustikale Wirtsstube, leckeres, großes Cordon Bleu und ein sehr aufmerksamer Wirt

Sehr gute Hausmannskost. Wirklich lecker und gute Portionen. Ich kann das Cordon Bleu sehr empfehlen. Aber auch die anderen Gerichte sahen sehr gut aus. Kleine Auswahl, aber gute Qualität und sehr faire Preise.

Uriges Gasthaus mit übersichtlicher Karte. Alle Speisen waren sehr schmackhaft u. die Portionen gut. Rundum Preis/Leistung stimmt. Wenn wir das nächste mal in Windsheim sind kommen wir bestimmt wieder.

Wir hatten Sauerbraten und Karpfen und waren begeistert! Fränkische Küche vom Feinsten. Am Nebentisch wurde Schweinebraten und Steak serviert und die Tischnachbarn waren ebenfalls begeistert. Der Service war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Das Preis Leistungsverhältnis stimmt und auf Sauberkeit wird hier sehr geachtet. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!

Gut bürgerliche Küche. Übersichtliche Karte, dafür alles sehr gut gekocht und ehrlich. Kamen zufällig vorbei wegen einer Umleitung. War ein super Zufall. ;)
