We celebrated our daughter's wedding here and what can I say… We have never been guided through a celebratory evening so lovingly as this one. Everyone was so warm, loving and attentive! The restaurant was beautifully decorated and the menu was absolutely perfect! You can really see the love for the job here. Last but not least, the wonderful owners and their employees contributed to making it an unforgettable evening. Thank you very much :)

Were there last Tuesday. Had a great snack for 2 people. Great value for money. Very nice hosts and courteous service. Typically Bavarian ambience, both inside and outside. We played cards for hours. Absolutely recommended

Had a wonderful lunch outside. The dishes were traditional and lovely, just the right size and very high quality. We had the Schnitzel which was unique with its crust and amazing roasted potatoes, as well as the vegetarian dish that was very tasty. I took the Sarti spritz which refreshing and well balanced. For desert we took the traditional apricot dumplings. The prices are on the high side but the service was very welcoming and professional.

I would like to point out that ultimately the service was sufficient, but not enough to deserve 4 stars. The biggest flaw concerns the food... Let's start by clarifying that the staff is quite visually impaired in noticing customers, (menus closed = I want to order), the wait for 2 salads is completely unjustified. The meat was tasteless and cooked half rare and half raw (could it be due to the freezer?), the accompanying sauce tasted incredibly like nothing, the potatoes were undercooked. All the vegetables even in my friends' dishes gave the impression of being reheated frozen foods, given the little flavour, the potato pancakes were apricot ("in search of apricot" new Disney film), also clearly taken from the lidl and reheated . For the rest everything is to my liking

The food, service and ambience are all more than worth the 5 stars. I had dinner with my girlfriend, thank God we had reservations as the tables outside are very popular and rare. All the waitresses were very attentive and accommodating. I can highly recommend the schnitzel in pumpkin seeds with potatoes and cranberries. Overall, it was an extremely successful stay from the welcome, the service, the presentation of the food, the attention, the prices and the ambience. I can highly recommend everyone to try this restaurant! Don't forget to reserve!!

We were there at lunchtime on a hot summer day. It's very pleasant to sit in the shade in the courtyard and enjoy the delicious food on great dishes. There are many delicious dishes on the menu that we had a hard time deciding on. The service was great, we would love to come back!

Found this gem while exploring Munich's old town and I was not disappointed! The food was really good ! The waiter who I forgot his name was totally helpful and humorous. I ordered soup and when my soup was served, it was served dry without any soup in it. He said "and for you sir， the dryest soup in Munich" I thought I heard wrong, is this some kind of joke ? You can imagine what was going through my head. Did I order wrong ? Is this some kind of deconstructed soup ? While I was staring into the dry contents of my plate, he non chalantly revealed a pourer with my soup inside and proceeded to pour into my bowl, while giving me a "gotcha look". He got me good. Overall, great food, great service, great atmosphere.

Yesterday we went to “Zum alten Markt” for the first time and we were absolutely thrilled. The service was incredibly dedicated and all the staff were extremely friendly, even when the restaurant was full. They really took the time to ensure that we as guests were completely satisfied. The food was an absolute dream and we enjoyed it exceptionally well. Our dog was also warmly welcomed and given water and treats. The stylish interior perfectly rounds off the positive overall impression. To the entire team: Thank you, dear ones, for so much empathy. We felt accepted and welcome. Thank you for that!

Dinner Zum Alten Markt €104.30/4 people It didn’t open until 5pm, so I arrived early at 4pm and hung out for an hour before I could get in. I ordered cocktails, salads, pumpkin schnitzel, scallops, shrimps, trout roe pasta, and fried cod. Cooked to order, the meals and drinks are delicious!

Very good meal, refined and delicious, on the terrace in a charming place. The service is fast and the quality/price ratio is excellent. The staff is very welcoming and fun. Let yourself be surprised by their dessert of the moment!

I'm in Munich once a year and “Zum Alten Markt” is a permanent address for me. This is by far the best pub I've been to in Munich so far. Friendly atmosphere, courteous service and outstanding quality.

The Zum Alten Markt is a super nice, cozy restaurant reminiscent of an alpine hut with upscale and modern Bavarian cuisine. The service is brilliant, all the waitresses are super friendly, funny, very helpful and attentive. I always enjoy coming back and am already looking forward to the next time.

Quaint restaurant with beautiful ceilings and a variety of decor. The food tasted homemade and the staff was friendly. We were there during spargle season, and I'll never forget how helpful the manager or owner was to another patron. The patron had a bandage on her right hand, making it difficult to cut her serving of spargle. The manager/owner came over and cut the asparagus for the patron and drizzled butter for her. That gesture was so sincere that it moved me deeply. It showed me how much the staff cares - not just in that gesture, but also in the delicious food! Thank you for such a memorable dinner!!

This place was a big disappointment, I'm honestly very surprised it's so highly rated. First off, the service is excellent, multiple waitresses came over to check on me and bring me what I ordered and refill my wine glass, you really can't ask for better service. The food, on the other hand, is really not very good. I had this seafood bisque that had a fishy taste, then a pork entree with potato cakes and a sauce with herbs. The meat was dry and the herbs didn't quite go with the sauce, everything was overall very bland and the sauce watery. The dessert was a white chocolate cake that mainly tasted like raw dough, and the homemade ice cream was actually the star of the show. It's a shame that a restaurant with service this good had food that was so incredibly mediocre.

Amazing! All our dishes were great. Had the pork tips in the mushroom sauce and it was absolutely delicious. Was nice to get Bavarian/German inspired meal, but with (big) step up from the basic offerings on the main streets.

We found this little gem while looking for something to have for dinner. We were a party of five (which became a party of three when the teenagers suddenly decided to visit a fast food chain) and we did not expect to be seated as we had no reservation. The staff was very accommodating, telling us that we could use a reserved table that they would not need for another 1,5 hour. We took a shrimp salad (big portion), another good-sized schnitzel (the most original I have ever had) and a veal with bacon and asparagus. The food was extra delicious and the servers very welcoming and pleasant. As soon as we finished our dinner, it started to rain and, while we were waiting for the teenage disasters to reappear, we were invited to the inside of the restaurant (also very cute and welcoming) until the arrival of the younger generation. I would definitely go again!!! I only regret not taking photos of the place and the food.

We visiting Munich for a conference from Australia and we found this Restaurant on our first evening in Munich by chance just walking past. They told us they were booked out but we said we are happy to wait. After 20 min we had a table inside. The venue and the ambience inside is so beautiful. The staff is incredible attentive and super friendly and real. The food was exceptional. We had „Heimatgedeck – I Schmier Da Oane“, „Italienisch – Bayrische Freundschaft“, „Saustall“ – (Jeden Tag Frisch- Deswegen: Wenn Aus Dann Leer) und „Heimatliebe“. We went back for a second time on our last day in Munich and we were again super happy. The staff is really passionate and Vanessa was just awesome and super nice.

I was there on Saturday afternoon with a friend (on the “Scots weekend”), which was a big day for the kitchen and staff. Nevertheless, all of the waitresses were neither stressed nor annoyed (which would have been understandable) but rather exceptionally friendly, very nice and always attentive. The food was also very tasty and the selection was not the Munich “standard menu”. A big compliment to the entire team. I look forward to the next visit.

All I can say is top top top. The service was incredible, we walked in the door and were asked if they could take the wet umbrellas away from us. Very accommodating, the food was a dream (I'm not exaggerating) there was nothing missing. I can only recommend Zum Alten Markt. Thank you for the great culinary delight. We will be back.

Wonderful food. Chef's dish, not from big restaurants. Large salad, serves a couple. Great beer and top service. Ordering two dishes plus salad and beer costs an average of $75.00 per couple.

The schnitzel was very dry, and the staff was very worked up.. If you want to eat a good schnitzel, dont go here. They also didn't come up with a solution and didn't take it seriously. Only positive was the location and the weizen beer.

Top ambience, top food! We had an appetizer platter with sausage specialties, cheese, some fish. As a main course, braised veal cheeks. Everything tasted very good and was beautifully presented. Hello everyone, I can't understand the bad rating. Last time Franzi served us very friendly and attentively - spoiled us. We go to the restaurant every now and then and enjoy good food, which varies depending on the season but always tastes delicious. I saw this restaurant online and went over to ask if they had a free table for two that night. I was unlucky enough to ask a blonde waitress who treated me terribly for no reason. He interrupted me while I was talking with a NO that he repeated several times. He then made fun of me by turning up the volume. The experience was most unpleasant and I wanted to put it on record to discourage anyone thinking of going because of the terrible customer service. Terrible treatment. I went to ask if they had an available table and the blonde waitress practically spat in my face. I have never felt so mistreated in a restaurant before.

We went there for lunch. Service was great , the woman was very nice. Food came fast. The food was very tasty and I would recommend the fish from the picture. The pork we took had tasty mushrooms, where some of the mushrooms melted in the mouth. But for those prices, I would expect somewhat bigger portions, for which I am taking 1 star. Presentation of the food as it is to be seen , is In my very beautiful, especially the creme in the mussel :D We sat outside , atmosphere was nothing special.

We went to this place for dinner. It started lovely with the short-haired server suggesting we get the sharing platter as starters. It arrived promptly, consisting of savoury bread, truffle mayo, dips, cheeses, cured meat— it was really good. Then the mains took 1.5 hour to arrive. The tempura zucchini flowers had too much batter, soggy, the veal cutlet wasn't to our liking but the mini cleaver was a cute touch, the veal cheeks was soft but not worth the 1.5 hour wait and they are not cheap. The 2nd blonde server was rude and didn't show us a receipt for the bill, she told us to pay this amount and we didn't know if there was service charge or not. But when we left whatever spare change we had—she told us that this wasn't even enough for the kitchen alone.

Very nice stay. Has a lot of character with a fun menu that's not the biggest but still has lots to choose from. Perspective and friendly service that got a bit slow and stressed once it got fuller but that's to be expected. Definitely worth a visit in my opinion. My husband and I strolled through the Viktualienmarkt yesterday. Since we were hungry, we looked for a restaurant nearby and this was suggested to us. We were warmly welcomed. The interior design is of course a matter of taste, but we really liked it. Very rustic, but stylish and harmonious. We ordered the cabbage wraps and the currywurst (pork belly) *Insider* ;-)). What can I say, it was delicious and appetizingly prepared, as we all know that the eye eats with it. The prices are a little higher, due of course to the exclusive location, but worth every penny. You should definitely treat yourself. We actually wanted to deduct a star because we didn't get any felt-tip pens, but we'll ignore that for now. Another insider ;-)).

Stell dir vor, deine geliebte Schwester lädt dich zum Essen ein als Dankeschön, dass du sie in München für ein Wochenende besuchst. Genau so fühlt man sich im Restaurant zum alten Markt wie bei deiner Schwester wenn sie dich richtig verwöhnen möchte. Richtig herzliche, urige Atmosphäre. Der Service und das Essen waren einfach erstklassig und die vegetarischen Gerichte sehr außergewöhnlich. Man merkt, dass der Koch Spaß hat, nicht nur normale Fleisch gerichtet zu kochen, sondern auch mal neue außergewöhnliche vegetarische Gerichte zu präsentieren.
