Zum Alten Markt in München

I went to dinner today with my wife and two daughters. I can only say that it was simply perfect and a wonderful evening. They were very welcoming to my two daughters, which isn't always a given for me. If we're ever in Munich again, we'll definitely eat there again.

It was delicious and friendly, but I guess they added a tip when paying later, so I ended up paying an extra 1-2 euros. It was a shame that they encouraged me to pay without telling me in advance, so I enjoyed the meal happily. The outdoor seating had a nice atmosphere and the schnitzel taste was basic and delicious. I thought the raspberry jam that came with it wouldn't go well with it, but it went well and was delicious!!

The service attitude is very good. They always line up normally. If others are allowed in, we will be allowed in. Personally, I think they have a racial ethos.

Had an amazing dinner here. Food was delicious, drinks were delicious and the staff were extremely friendly, helpful and efficient. Menu is varied and had beautiful fresh ingredients in all the meals we ordered. Highly recommended.

Beautiful place, very delicious food prepared with love and very good service. We have been in Munich for many years and a great discovery. Something different without losing the Bavarian essence.

Yesterday we ordered a table for 4 people. The tartare for the starter was very tasty, as were the meat dishes that followed and were very attractively presented. The service was also generally good. But if it says outside that the restaurant is open until 11 p.m., we found it very rude if the lamp and flower decorations were taken from the table before 10 p.m. We felt pressured to pay and go out. Otherwise the atmosphere is absolutely great and recommended.

I happened to visit the restaurant during my visit to Munich and was extremely impressed. The restaurant is quite small and very traditionally decorated. The service is friendly and accommodating. WiFi is also available for guests. The food isn't cheap, but it's extremely tasty and the price is definitely worth it! Not only is it very appealing to the eye, but it is also pleasing to the palate. I really liked being here and enjoyed it.

A cute but still very modern inn. The schnitzel and the starter salad were beyond delicious. The modern approach with the breading is also really great. Definitely worth a visit. The service was also extremely quick, courteous and all in all it was an excellent evening. We'll be happy to remember the address and pass it on as a recommendation 😊!

Eva (sorry if that is wrong) she was so lovely! Food was fantastic, would happily go back and eat again! The Apple pie was dreamy! Lovely venue, small, really hospitable, highly recommend!

Absolute highlight, one of the best schnitzels I have ever eaten (and as an Austrian). Big praise to the kitchen and the operators. TOP.

For us it is one of the best restaurants, not just in Munich: charming atmosphere and very tasty food. The beef tartare “Sturer Ox” was seasoned in a balanced way. The veal cheek was cooked so tenderly that it melted in your mouth. Only the pear and red wine sorbet with spumante could have been a little more aromatic.

Edit: after it worked out at a different time, full 5 stars. Service professional and yet friendly. Food very well rounded and everything to the point. The ambience is also fantastic, and communication when making the reservation was easy and friendly.

Local German restaurant with good service and nice wooden decoration

A very nice restaurant with local food. Schiztzel (not sure if correctly spelled) is great. The staff is very nice, too. Don’t be surprised if they asked you to share table, though. I was travelling on my own and it made my night more interesting, but it might not be for everyone

We were guests as a large group and had a wonderful, sociable evening with excellent food and very friendly service. The restaurant has a pleasant, manageable size and exudes a very cozy atmosphere.

I love this place! We had a very warm welcome, we did not book, it was fully booked but they offered us a table for 45 minutes and we happily accepted. Beer was great (we are in Munich....) we had a wonderful Dunkel beer. The Sntitzel was amazing, with a breading made of a mix of bread, flower and seeds... wow!!! Waiters were very nice and so much fun... and to complete the warm environment there was a nice, sweet dog :-) Fantastic dinner, for now, this is my favorite place in Munich!

Delightful small environment but during the week you can easily find a place. Everything is managed by women with a lot of friendliness and professionalism. €61 for two, we had a soup each (maybe a little salty but good) and a platter of cold cuts and cheeses to split between two. Plus 2 beers. Perhaps the price/quality ratio is a little high with dishes a little expensive.

Cozy atmosphere in a central location. My first visit to the old market will not be my last. We had called half an hour in advance and were still able to make a reservation. The food is fantastic and worth every penny. The service is totally attentive and friendly. The focus on details is really nice. Thank you for the wonderful evening.

We were able to celebrate our son's 18th birthday here. Contact with the owner and the preparation process were excellent. The entire team helped to make the evening unforgettable. With luck we have Wednesday 5.2. can reserve. The friendly acceptance has already started on the phone and has continued to the point of being on site. Small, cute, really Bavarian restaurant. You have the feeling that you are on an alpine pasture. Team super friendly, fast service. And well, the most important thing: the food was super good. We had luck with pastures once and cattle twice. And all three plates were well filled, the meat was just as desired, the vegetables were fresh and crunchy and the dumplings were excellent. We really enjoyed our time there and the landlady (high respect here) worked with her employees at the same time and had a light touch about it. This is what leadership means. We went to this restaurant after reading many positive reviews on various blogs and the truth is that we were absolutely right. Central location next to the Viktualienmarkt. The place is not very big but it is beautiful, all in wood and very very cozy. Fantastic food, very well prepared and great value for money. We were served by Olivera, who was charming from the moment we entered the restaurant and who speaks English perfectly. She advised us on the dishes to choose and was attentive at all times in case we needed anything. Danke!!! To all the staff for their great work. We will return when we come to Munich.

She impressed us with her friendliness and professionalism and always knew exactly what we needed without seeming pushy. We had an amazing lunch! Our waitress Mrs. Olivera was friendly and made our visit even better!

The food was good and tasty, but unfortunately the experience was greatly marred by the service. The service was very pushy and constantly tried to refill the water we ordered or sell additional bottles without asking. Equally disturbing was the repeated pushing of dishes from the menu, which gave the impression of a pure sales strategy. The absolute highlight of the mismanagement, however, was the sudden disappearance of the service staff while a street vendor harassed the restaurant's guests to buy newspapers - completely unacceptable. If you are looking for a traditional Bavarian restaurant, you will be disappointed here. Overall, the whole thing feels more like a tourist trap than an authentic experience. No recommendation!

Anything I say about this place is simply not enough! The place is so cozy, I love the wood and the fact that they did not use any big lights in the place, only small lights which makes the place give a really calm feeling. The staff members were really nice and friendly. The food…. The literal best things that I have tried in Munich so far… they offered us Rose prosecco in the beginning and God it was delicious.. And we had the cheese platter which just came directly from heaven.. and the salad that was really fresh and extremely delicious! How in the world can salad be delicious? I don’t know how these guys did it but it was a totally different experience.. also the carpaccia was extremely good. For the main course we tried stroganoff and keep rolling….🤌🏻🤌🏻… I honestly prefer stroganoff with cream but it’s just preferences and it was truly appetizing. And God keep rolling was just too different… I don’t know how they cooked it but I have never tried something like this before… at the end we had hazelnut shots! It was bitter and heavy for me but a really nice experience. These people did a really great job I’d never forget this amazing experience. Thank you❤️✨

A good, atmospheric, typical German restaurant. Generally, everything was OK, but there was nothing special that made me want to come back. The portions are not enough to satisfy your hunger (the photo is a bit misleading - look at the quarter of a small lemon). Service- Great.

It's unbelievable that there are still such great restaurants today! The food was heavenly, the service was incomparably professional and yet natural and personal, the restaurant was beautiful, classic Bavarian - simply authentic! The high prices are absolutely reasonable. It was a very nice experience to be able to dine there!

I particularly liked the atmosphere: cozy, relaxed and pleasantly quiet, so it was perfect to have a conversation. I would particularly like to highlight Franzi and Eva, who served us - they were incredibly friendly, attentive and made sure that we felt completely comfortable. The rooms are also beautifully designed, which made the evening even more special. For me it's a real insider tip in Munich - I would recommend it at any time! 🫶🏽

Unfortunately, the only great thing about the restaurant is the ambience. The food simply didn't taste like anything and when I added salt to it I was even teased about it with a stupid comment from the waitress. My wife and I didn't feel like guests there, but rather like a burden.

The restaurant is centrally located, and it’s best to book in advance as it’s often fully booked. Luckily, I was able to get a reservation with the help of my hotel receptionist. For starters, we tried the “Bayrisches Erbgut,” traditional meatballs that were a nice way to begin the meal. For mains, we had the “Bleeda Kua” (Stroganoff-style meat pieces) and the “So a Hirsch” (braised venison from the Bavarian Forest with juniper). The “So a Hirsch” stood out with its large portion, good-quality meat, and rich flavor. The “Bleeda Kua” was more ordinary — decent but nothing particularly noteworthy. Both dishes came with similar sauces and potato croquettes, which felt a bit repetitive. Portion sizes were generous, and with one starter and two mains, it was more than enough for two people. The interior was nicely decorated, creating a cozy, festive atmosphere that added to the dining experience.

December 2nd, lunch menu was ok, but nothing really special; I personally found it a bit disgusting that the boss/head waitress pets a guest's dog and then continues to serve.

Very cozy place. Typically German and it reminded me of an Alpine ski hut. But more fun. Friendly service. And very tasty, high-quality dishes. Plates were also neatly finished. Both the main course and dessert were extremely tasty. It is best to make a reservation because if you make a reservation there is no income on a working day. Recommended if you are visiting Munich. Slightly more expensive than elsewhere but definitely worth it.

Make an RSVP, it's a cozy small place full of charm with wood paneling. Food was delicious: we had charcuterie, alpine pork, and stuffed noodles with mushroom & chestnut.
