Zum Alten Markt in München

We spontaneously went to the "Alter Markt" today! An excellent restaurant with delicious food! The portions are generous and the selection is perfect! The quality here is truly outstanding! The ambiance is great, the restaurant is quiet and centrally located! The service is excellent! That's how it should be! Next time we're in Munich, we'll be back :-)

Oh, the best schnitzel ever, I've never eaten such a good one. We showed up without a reservation – the service was very friendly and made it possible for us to get a seat. The atmosphere was lovely, quaint little restaurant; we felt at home. We'll definitely be back, but make sure to make a reservation.

I've lived in Munich for 24 years and have never been to this restaurant near Marienplatz. Excellent service, qualified and professional staff. The cuisine is very refined, and for me, of high quality. There are no German classics. The chef creates his own menu, with well-prepared and balanced portions. I drank an excellent Primitivo, which I highly recommend.

This is a must dine. It's away from the busy tourist traffic. The ladies here run this place well, they will accommodate you even if you don't have a reservation (once they are able to) The Bella ciao starter vegetables and pork tenderloin main were amazing, best restaurant food since being in Munich. I'll have to come back.

A culinary experience. Highly creative, freshly prepared dishes of outstanding quality. The ambiance is beautiful, rustic, and decorated with attention to detail. The staff is extremely friendly, courteous, and very attentive. Reservations are recommended. Thankfully, we managed to get a spot without a reservation. The restaurant was very busy.

Charm and authenticity are two cornerstones that define this wonderful inn. Run by two very friendly people, we were taken on a journey into modern Bavarian cuisine. Advance reservations are strongly recommended, as otherwise it will be very difficult to get a table. And there's definitely a reason for this: The food was perfectly prepared, and all dishes were cooked to perfection. The menu included classics, as well as contemporary and interesting dishes. There's something for everyone. The tiramisu with green asparagus was particularly noteworthy! A big compliment also goes to the warm and friendly nature of the hosts, who made the evening a special one. I highly recommend it to everyone.

We had to wait a long time, but in the end it was totally worth it. The food was really good – fresh, plentiful, and delicious. Exactly what you need after a hard day at work. If you have a bit of time, you'll get a decent meal here.

We discovered the restaurant by chance, the welcome was very warm, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere was great. What is particularly worth mentioning is that my dogs were immediately given a water bowl and later treats were served to the table as a reward. I have never been to a restaurant where my dogs were treated like this

This is a favorite spot anytime I’m in town. Lovely outdoor dining experience weather permitting. The tables inside are cozy and the decor is adorable. The cuisine is inspired, refreshingly seasonal and delicious. Service never disappoints. Eva, our server last time, was most patient and helpful. Highly recommend!

The dip we got as our starter was FANTASTIC.

Delicious meal and friendly, attentive service. Tiny place with a cosy hunting or ski lodge atmosphere. Started off with outstanding sweet sardines from Brittany and some roasted brown bread. Don’t let the tin can fool you; the sardines are very good. My husband had salmon with 2 delightful sauces, one made with vermouth, the other with sherry and black tomato. I had pork schnitzel, with delicious lightly fried potatoes. Good dry riesling. Shared a fresh, tasty salad. Too full for dessert. We walked back to our hotel very happy. Thanks to everyone at the restaurant.

During a trip I stopped by the Old Market to have a drink. I was warmly welcomed and offered a place straight away. The atmosphere is great and the beer tastes really good, I'll definitely come back and try the food too.

I had dinner today with my wife and two daughters. All I can say is that it was simply perfect and a wonderful evening. They were very kind to my two daughters, which is not always a given for me. If we are in Munich again, we will definitely eat there again.

It was delicious and friendly, but I guess they added a tip when paying later, so I ended up paying an extra 1-2 euros. It was a shame that they encouraged me to pay without telling me in advance, so I enjoyed the meal happily. The outdoor seating had a nice atmosphere and the schnitzel taste was basic and delicious. I thought the raspberry jam that came with it wouldn't go well with it, but it went well and was delicious!!

The service attitude is very good. They always line up normally. If others are allowed in, we will be allowed in. Personally, I think they have a racial ethos.

Had an amazing dinner here. Food was delicious, drinks were delicious and the staff were extremely friendly, helpful and efficient. Menu is varied and had beautiful fresh ingredients in all the meals we ordered. Highly recommended.

Yesterday we ordered a table for 4 people. The tartare for the starter was very tasty, as were the meat dishes that followed and were very attractively presented. The service was also generally good. But if it says outside that the restaurant is open until 11 p.m., we found it very rude if the lamp and flower decorations were taken from the table before 10 p.m. We felt pressured to pay and go out. Otherwise the atmosphere is absolutely great and recommended.

I happened to visit the restaurant during my visit to Munich and was extremely impressed. The restaurant is quite small and very traditionally decorated. The service is friendly and accommodating. WiFi is also available for guests. The food isn't cheap, but it's extremely tasty and the price is definitely worth it! Not only is it very appealing to the eye, but it is also pleasing to the palate. I really liked being here and enjoyed it.

A cute but still very modern inn. The schnitzel and the starter salad were beyond delicious. The modern approach with the breading is also really great. Definitely worth a visit. The service was also extremely quick, courteous and all in all it was an excellent evening. We'll be happy to remember the address and pass it on as a recommendation 😊!

Absolute highlight, one of the best schnitzels I have ever eaten (and as an Austrian). Big praise to the kitchen and the operators. TOP.

For us it is one of the best restaurants, not just in Munich: charming atmosphere and very tasty food. The beef tartare “Sturer Ox” was seasoned in a balanced way. The veal cheek was cooked so tenderly that it melted in your mouth. Only the pear and red wine sorbet with spumante could have been a little more aromatic.

Edit: after it worked out at a different time, full 5 stars. Service professional and yet friendly. Food very well rounded and everything to the point. The ambience is also fantastic, and communication when making the reservation was easy and friendly.

A very nice restaurant with local food. Schiztzel (not sure if correctly spelled) is great. The staff is very nice, too. Don’t be surprised if they asked you to share table, though. I was travelling on my own and it made my night more interesting, but it might not be for everyone

We were guests as a large group and had a wonderful, sociable evening with excellent food and very friendly service. The restaurant has a pleasant, manageable size and exudes a very cozy atmosphere.

I love this place! We had a very warm welcome, we did not book, it was fully booked but they offered us a table for 45 minutes and we happily accepted. Beer was great (we are in Munich....) we had a wonderful Dunkel beer. The Sntitzel was amazing, with a breading made of a mix of bread, flower and seeds... wow!!! Waiters were very nice and so much fun... and to complete the warm environment there was a nice, sweet dog :-) Fantastic dinner, for now, this is my favorite place in Munich!

Delightful small environment but during the week you can easily find a place. Everything is managed by women with a lot of friendliness and professionalism. €61 for two, we had a soup each (maybe a little salty but good) and a platter of cold cuts and cheeses to split between two. Plus 2 beers. Perhaps the price/quality ratio is a little high with dishes a little expensive.

Cozy atmosphere in a central location. My first visit to the old market will not be my last. We had called half an hour in advance and were still able to make a reservation. The food is fantastic and worth every penny. The service is totally attentive and friendly. The focus on details is really nice. Thank you for the wonderful evening.

We were able to celebrate our son's 18th birthday here. Contact with the owner and the preparation process were excellent. The entire team helped to make the evening unforgettable. With luck we have Wednesday 5.2. can reserve. The friendly acceptance has already started on the phone and has continued to the point of being on site. Small, cute, really Bavarian restaurant. You have the feeling that you are on an alpine pasture. Team super friendly, fast service. And well, the most important thing: the food was super good. We had luck with pastures once and cattle twice. And all three plates were well filled, the meat was just as desired, the vegetables were fresh and crunchy and the dumplings were excellent. We really enjoyed our time there and the landlady (high respect here) worked with her employees at the same time and had a light touch about it. This is what leadership means. And the dessert, really good. The three of us were extremely excited. I'm looking forward to being back soon and trying more dishes from the menu. Keep it up and LG, Labinot Deda

We went to this restaurant after reading many positive reviews on various blogs and the truth is that we were absolutely right. Central location next to the Viktualienmarkt. The place is not very big but it is beautiful, all in wood and very very cozy. Fantastic food, very well prepared and great value for money. We were served by Olivera, who was charming from the moment we entered the restaurant and who speaks English perfectly. She advised us on the dishes to choose and was attentive at all times in case we needed anything. Danke!!! To all the staff for their great work. We will return when we come to Munich.

The dishes are fresh, creative and perfectly coordinated – a real treat for all the senses. However, I would particularly like to highlight the service, which made the stay an unforgettable experience. Our server, Olivia, was absolutely top! She impressed us with her friendliness and professionalism and always knew exactly what we needed without seeming pushy. Her wine and dish recommendations were spot on and enhanced the meal even further. If you really want to eat well in Munich and experience excellent service, this is the right place for you. I'll definitely be back - and hope Olivia serves us again!

Klasse Wirtshaus-Erlebnis in top Lage, mit traditionellem Ambiente aber gleichzeitig moderner und anspruchsvoller Küche. Super Service, wir wurden den Abend über von Evi + Franzi bestens versorgt und kommen gerne wieder :)
