Zollernblick-Fuchsbau in Schömberg

When we read the other reviews, we ask ourselves: Were we at a different restaurant? We were here for lunch with family. But let's start from the beginning: The ambiance is supposed to be so wonderful? The dining room is in the basement, stuck in the 70s, with dark wood on the ceiling, the obligatory green fireplace, and overall quite gloomy. The service? Unfriendly, rude, know-it-all, didactic—there's no other way to describe it. We should have left when we were greeted so "friendly." The food? The salad is completely overdone; we've rarely eaten such bad cucumbers and such bad green salad, or rather, NOT eaten them (returned it, it was inedible). The cordon bleu with chanterelle mushrooms costs almost 28 euros and tastes like soap. The breading isn't crispy and tastes truly off-putting. The Schwabenpfännle (Swabian pan) is just a pot in which everything swims around at once—but there's plenty of it. Store-bought spaetzle, pork fillet, an indefinable sauce. The rösti aren't homemade either, so they taste like Aldi's. How could it be any different if you just buy it? Technically, only the pork fillet was well-made; all the other dishes were subpar. We doubt it was prepared by a trained chef. The price? Too high for that! Pork Cordon Bleu for just under €28 or Swabian pancakes for just under €26 – that's way too much. Yes, there were chanterelle mushrooms in it – but what's the point if nothing tastes good? That doesn't justify the price either. We can't explain all of this, with so many positive reviews, but it really wasn't good. We'll monitor the reviews over the next few weeks and months and are happy to give it a second chance. Hopefully, it really was just a bad, dark day!

I hope the elderly lady with black hair was just having a particularly bad day today. We've never experienced such unfriendly service in all our years, and it was so borderline awful that we preferred to go to another restaurant. No words! Probably the unfriendly service in Germany. That's hard to top...

Unfortunately, I went there for nothing. It was a vacation.

Of course, there might be no seats, but the way the hostess behind the bar indicated it was full was outrageous. A shouted "NO" was all we got. BE Laughable! Hence the one-star rating, as we didn't get a chance to explore anything. Despite at least 10 empty tables inside. With a bit of luck, we found a fantastic Stube in the woods: "Berghof Rössle."

We arrived late, and there was nothing open for dinner in the area. We asked if they could cook us any takeout dishes, and thanks to them, we tried their Maultaschen. They were delicious! The service was fast, and they served us ample portions. There were some very friendly customers there who recommended places to visit in the area. It was an unexpected cultural immersion, which made it even more charming. Thank you for the service and kindness. Greetings from Spain!

A successful evening at the Zollernblick-Fuchsbau in Schömberg I recently went to the Zollernblick-Fuchsbau restaurant in Schömberg with a large group of friends and acquaintances. We had planned the trip for a while and reserved a table in advance by phone – which turned out to be a good decision, as the restaurant was busy. As soon as we arrived, I liked the location: a bit off the beaten track, quiet, and surrounded by the Black Forest countryside. There is free parking in front of the restaurant, and when the weather is nice, the terrace with its green views offers a truly cozy atmosphere. We received a friendly welcome and were shown directly to our table. Despite our group size, everything was very organized – drinks were brought and served quickly, and special requests or small changes to the dishes were no problem at all. It was immediately clear that the team has experience with larger groups. The menu is classic and regionally focused: schnitzel, roast beef, cordon bleu, fresh salads, but also seasonal specialties like chanterelle mushrooms. I opted for a cordon bleu with spaetzle – crispy, juicy, and a truly generous portion. The group also ordered fish and game dishes, and the feedback was consistently positive. The plates were beautifully presented, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food. I found the price to be absolutely fair: very good and generous portions, solid quality, and friendly service at reasonable prices. What I particularly remember is the blend of rustic Black Forest ambiance and warm hospitality. The evening was informal, with lots of laughter and conversation – just what you'd want for a larger gathering. Overall, our visit to the Zollernblick-Fuchsbau was a complete success. We felt completely at home and agreed that this certainly won't be the last time we'll be here.

A nice little village pub with a small beer garden right on the road, but it's hardly used. The restaurant itself dates back to the late 1970s. Everything is well-kept and clean, though not everything has to be super modern. The service is friendly and fast. The food is fresh, homemade, and delicious, just as you'd expect.

We were there on a Monday afternoon, during normal opening hours. We received an unfriendly welcome; there was no menu offered and we were asked to choose between five dishes. When we wanted to choose more than two different dishes, we received a rude response that we should decide. In the end, three different dishes were fine. The salad plates and the main courses were delicious and plentiful. No cash payment possible. They charged €1 each for Styrofoam takeaway containers.

Stopped here at short notice on Saturday lunchtime. The restaurant was well attended. The weather was still good enough to sit outside on the terrace. We were very enthusiastic about the good homemade food (roulade with spaetzle, SchniPo). The portions are very large, the side salad is also large and tasty. The service was fine, the atmosphere rustic. We liked it a lot and will definitely go there again when we are nearby.

We were there in a group and we were all really excited. The waitress was very authentic and warm, the food was absolutely fantastic. The salad plate for the starter was absolutely harmonious, the onion roast was on point and the sauce was a very good taste experience. I can fully recommend the restaurant and would come back at any time.

As a "starved" craftsman who has been looking for good home cooking for a long time, this visit was a blessing. Nice quaint and chatty staff. Just like before. It's nice that something like this still exists. Had the best cordon bleu ever. Everything is still handmade, like with nuts. Add salad and fries. Everything is really incredibly good. I'll report back and definitely come back when I get the chance. Thanks for the experience.

Authentic and pleasant restaurant! Arrived just before the end and still got main courses that were perfect! The owner was very friendly and served us quickly. Only recommended!

A wonderful rustic economy. Staff very friendly. Food was really excellent. I have rarely eaten so well. The side salad alone blew me away. Meat to the point. Really highly recommended. We will be there more often now.

Schnitzel with... It's rustic here and maybe a bit untidy, but it didn't bother me because the food made up for it all. It was delightfully tasty. I enjoyed it! Thanks! Attentively prepared salad, even with croutons. The nice service must also be mentioned. The prices are reasonable and that is one of the reasons why I will come here more often.

There were three of us there and we all ate the schnitzel with fries... A day later we were all lying flat with the norovirus (nausea, vomiting, etc.). The virus definitely came from the restaurant because we all had complaints ourselves and the time interval also indicates this. Other people will complain about the same symptoms in the recessions to come. Also extremely unfriendly service -> Not recommended!!!

Hier in dieser kleinen rustikalen sehr gemütlichen und sauberen Gaststätte kann man sehr gutes schwäbisches Essen genießen , besonderst Rostbraten ist der beste was wir je gegessen haben , Frische selbstgemachte Spätzle die auf der Zunge zergehen dazu frischen gemischten Salat Teller.portionen super gross für normales Geld ,freundlicher Service wir kommen gerne wieder grosses Lob an die Küche.

ATTENTION FOOD POISONING!! Not recommended… Unfriendly service and after eating I lay flat with food poisoning for a week! My 2 friends who ate the same thing were also sick for days!

We spontaneously got a table and were more than thrilled with the food. It was really excellent. In the restaurant itself, the family and many of the owners' children were out and about, which was sometimes very loud and bustling. They often disappeared through the door to the kitchen, where the food is prepared. It didn't seem hygienic to me, but I don't know the structure of the restaurant or whether there was a door before. Unfortunately, the waitress was very unfriendly and told us as we were leaving that she was feeling very nauseous and was looking forward to going to bed. But she served us the whole time, as had several guests before us. Now 3 of us 5 people are lying flat with gastrointestinal problems. Something like that doesn't work in the catering industry!

One can only agree with the positive reviews. Super nice landlady, delicious food. As a vegetarian, I had salad and chanterelles with dumplings. Class! So a recommendation even if you don't feel like eating meat. Of course there is also enough choice for the other faction. The fact that a review complains about the lack of card payment is simply ridiculous. This is not a tourist place, but of course tourists who pay in bar are always welcome. Anyway, I thought it was great.

Unfortunately the food wasn't good and was very carelessly prepared and expensive, the service couldn't be criticized, it's a shame.

We were there for the first time today and had the beef roulade and cordon bleu. Both were very well prepared. The salad was also extremely good. We definitely won't go there often.

When I asked whether card payments were accepted (which should actually be a given these days), I was told several times that only "cash" was true - and that I could get cash. Service desert Germany! We then went to the Maisenbacher Hirsch - there, customer service counts for something (card payment is of course possible) and the schnitzel is at least as good!

We definitely cannot recommend this “restaurant”. The service is sloppy, the “food” is thrown on the table. Chanterelles tasted like they came from a can and the rump steak tasted and smelled rotten. After complaining, you get an apology but with the justification that everything should have been okay anyway. And then having the nerve to demand that everything has to be paid for. Never again! I'd rather eat dog food

Typical Swabian restaurant or inn. The food is home-style and always good. Good price performance. I have been there many times and will continue to visit the restaurant.

If you are traveling in the Schömberg region then a detour to this restaurant is worth it. Everything is good, home-style, furnishings with a small beer garden on the street, food, service, prices. We were in the region 4 times in June and had dinner here twice. Min. once too little. There are enough parking spaces around the restaurant. Enjoy your meal and enjoy it.

That was really a direct hit! Excellent food, very friendly service, everything was great! The ambience is getting old, but it has its own charm. We will also make a (larger) detour to eat here on our next trip.

Always worth a trip Enjoy your meal

We took a look here while on vacation. A very typical restaurant with a classic regulars' table.😂🫶, hosted by two older ladies who do it with passion. We were there and unfortunately it was very full and some of the ladies seemed a bit overwhelmed with the orders. The ambience is simple, but the food gets five stars without reservation. Very tasty, freshly prepared and available in sufficient quantities.🍀🍀🍀

Nicely located with friendly staff and good, typical German food. I can recommend everyone to take a detour here. Due to the nice weather and the resulting increase in the number of guests, the service was unfortunately a bit slow - but we were informed about the increased waiting time when we arrived. The taste of the schnitzel was very good, but it was served without cranberries and with tunke. (There is therefore a star deduction in this category for this schnitzel crime. (It was still delicious))

We returned as a small group after the hike. Home-style cooking with no frills, generous portions at fair prices. Everything was delicious. The service is rustic, but we all had fun. Gladly again!

Today we were at the fox hole again. We discovered this place by chance on a hike a few weeks ago and we were all very excited. So today we are going back specifically. The restaurant offers a journey through time. Inside still felt like it was in the 50s. There's even an old jukebox hanging on the wall with the songs from back then. She wants DM, but probably wouldn't make a sound even if you still had some. Whatever, great! The small salad plate seamlessly ties in with this time. In a positive sense, it has everything you know from the 60s (if you're as old as we are). Each component with its own dressing, great potato salad, together a poem. Outside there is a very lovingly furnished area with tables, umbrellas and flowers. There are usually daily specials, but not much of it, so it's worth coming early. We know the beef roulades and, since today, the matjes. Both are great culinary delights. Yes, top herring in the Black Forest, with a fantastic dressing with delicious apple pieces. The ladies in service were very friendly! Someone had a difficult day today and still had very friendly, almost familiar words for us. A lot of things have broken down in society since Corona. Anywhere, business or private. But the catering industry, among others, has been hit very hard. It is all the more important that we value the services offered to us in places like the Fuchsbau. We will come back in any case! Thank you for the beautiful and delicious hours. Addendum: Today we were at the fox hole again. It was super delicious, as always. We met all three ladies in service and are thrilled with them. We had beef cheeks, which were fantastically tasty and very generous in quantity. Lunch of the day! As already mentioned above. Today we were at Zollernblick for the first time. The viewpoint, which is reflected in the name of the restaurant. It is only about 15 minutes away from the restaurant. Definitely worth it if the visibility is good. Great restaurant, highly recommended! Update: In the last year, more and more restaurants have ceased operations. Therefore, the remaining ones are becoming more and more crowded. At least that is our subjective impression. Same in the fox hole. Therefore our new tip: Be sure to reserve if you are not flexible! Couples often have to be turned away around 12 p.m. This is unfortunate for both sides.

We have been coming to Schömberg on (short) vacations for almost 20 years and eating in Oberlengenhardt at Ellen's is always a highlight. Vegetarians also get their money's worth thanks to the great salads, which are fresh, colorful and well seasoned. My husband loves home cooking like roulades, which can be enjoyed here perfectly prepared, as well as many other delicious meat dishes. The family atmosphere, which makes hikers feel comfortable here, means we always have cozy and relaxed hours in the Fuchsbau. See you soon again at the Fuchsbau ❤️

Wir waren gestern zur etwas ungewöhnlichen Zeit von 15 Uhr auf der Suche nach einem Mittagessen und sind hier mit einem leckeren Schnitzel mit Pommes und Bratensauce😍 verpflegt worden. Vorneweg gab es einen außergewöhnlich leckeren Beilagen-Salatteller. Alles darauf war frisch - keine Eimer-Ware - und sehr gut angemacht. Der beste Bohnensalat seit Jahren! Wir kommen sicher wieder, wenn wir in der Gegend sind!

Urige Wirtschaft , sehr nette Wirtin und aufmerksame Bedienungen . Sehr leckerer Beilagensalat , alle frisch zubereitet . Rumpsteak medium rare bestellt , perfekten Gargrad serviert bekommen. Preis/Leistungsverhältnis top .

Super leckeres Essen bei einer ganz lieben Wirtin in einem urigen Ambiente. Die Küche ist echt auf Zack, da könnten sich viele große Häuser mal ein Beispiel nehmen. Sehr empfehlenswert
