Very nice place. The service is very pleasant. And the sublime dishes! We had sushi and the beef carpaccio! It was excellent! A special mention for the mayonnaise which is on the dishes and for the crunchiness of the Sexy Freak Wave sushi 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 We will come back without hesitation!

The ambience at Zenzakan was very pleasant, impressive furnishings! The food tasted very good. We had starters (sushi), main courses (fish) and dessert. Unfortunately, the service somewhat clouded our overall impression. Our waiter offered us additional things “on his own initiative” without making it clear that these would incur additional costs. An example about dessert: He suggested bringing us an additional mochi (3 pieces are on the plate, since there were 2 of us he wanted to bring 4 pieces because of the division). We assumed this was a nice gesture, but the bill simply added 1 motchi + 1 ice cream (which was never communicated). It's not about the additional price, but rather the way of communication when operating. In addition, there were drinks on the bill that we never ordered! The water that we were promised “on the house” (because it was brought incorrectly) was also charged… Unfortunately, such non-transparent procedures also leave a negative impression, which is avoidable for a restaurant in this price range.

You've heard a lot about this restaurant from food influencers and YouTubers and you absolutely won't be disappointed! Zenzakan offers a great experience and exceptional food not found at many modern Asian restaurants. Service, food, drinks and ambience were absolutely perfect!

I am very disappointed with the experience I had in this store, I came all the way from Stuttgart. The store was empty for 1-2 hours and still couldn't get a seat. Unfortunately, I can't complain about eating because it was apparently completely booked even though it had been open since January 1st -2 hours it wasn't even 10 percent full (little pissers with sweatpants even come in)

Had dinner on a surprisingly busy Monday night. Started with cocktails, which were incredible. I had the A5 Wagyu steak which was perfect. However, my wife was disappointed with her Vegan sushi. The wait staff was charming and warm. The service was slow though.

Japanese food, but not a Japanese menu.

Delicious food, but the service is no longer priced. If I spend €140 per person, I expect trained staff. First we had to order the bottle of water twice, then after ordering the drinks and food there was another question after 10 minutes because the waiter understood that the appetizer was veggie sushi instead of crunchy sushi. You should already know your own menu, there is no veggie option. Then the starter came before the cocktails - not once was anyone asked about any further requests. Food and drinks were served pretty carelessly, almost slapped down, so that the sauce almost spilled off the plate. You only put out new cocktails once you have taken away the empty glasses - then you can put them where they should be, not just anywhere. What was conciliatory was that in the last third there was another waitress at our table who was much more competent and authentic. It took the two of us almost 2.5 hours for the starter, main course and dessert, and it couldn't have been quicker due to the service, which was initially not very committed.

Good concept, weak execution. For such an ambience and offer, the service and performance should be a lot higher. We weren't even greeted by the waitress, they just took our orders. The food was served without further comment and not adequately (e.g. the drinks were placed in the middle of the table instead of next to the person). In addition, the service was very weak during our dinner, no one showed up to refill water and our empty plates/drinks were left in front of us for a long time. You don't have to have any service experience in fine dining to know that this is undesirable. Regarding the food, you could definitely taste the high quality and the small portions, even at a high price, have become the norm these days, so nothing special. However, in my opinion, it is problematic to call something a "sushi roll" and then only serve 3 pieces... Last but not least, the bill, we wanted to pay this separately (a common practice these days), but this was only under our own calculation Amount possible. Unprofessional cashing and dirty dishes (still from the first course) said goodbye and finally. The quality, the taste, the ambience and the drinks were positive. Compliments to the bartenders and bosses. While the experience wasn't terrible, we expected a lot more given the numerous positive reviews. It quickly becomes clear what kind of clientele this restaurant wants, but our expectations were not met. The service staff should be a lot more courteous with such ambitious prices and reviews. Due to many experiences in similar restaurants, we were unfortunately surprised and disappointed by the distant, impersonal and discreet service and treatment.

Unbelievable - we were ignored after many requests to at least order something to drink - the glasses and colleagues were more important - I have to say - visually we were elegantly dressed - but we were still ignored for over an hour - the food was okay but - value for money completely inappropriate - I will never visit this restaurant again with their ignorance and will therefore pass it on to my friends - you don't want to experience an evening like that again - you pay a lot and get better service in every fast food restaurant

We celebrated our anniversary here and were thrilled. The food was phenomenal, Steffen's service was unbeatable and the ambience couldn't be beat. A special thank you goes to our waiter Steffen, who gave us an unforgettable evening with a surprise. Thank you very much, we'll be back!

By far the best restaurant in Frankfurt in my opinion. Aside from the beautiful decor and that lovely atmosphere, the food was an 11/10. Of course you pay twice or three times as much as if you went to a normal restaurant, but it's not that expensive. I also don't understand why so many people criticize the service so negatively. Great experience and exceptional food! Definitely great for special occasions! The duck must be ordered in advance, otherwise everything on the menu is very appealing and delicious! It's worth taking a look at the cocktail menu! The drinks are really very good. You can use valet parking, the guys are very quick. The cost is a tip of €5/cash, which can of course be increased individually.

Our visit to Zenzakan was an unforgettable experience that offered enjoyment at the highest level. The parking service, a real luxury, started our evening comfortably. The menu has a huge selection and we enjoyed trying our way through the dishes. We would particularly recommend the Rainbow Roll, Crunchy Salmon Roll and the Dynamite Shrimp – a dream for sushi and seafood lovers. The Beef Shumai Dumplings and the Crispy Duck Salad were perfectly seasoned, and the Kung Pao Chicken impressed with its authentic flavors. As side dishes, the spicy wasabi fries and edamame were real highlights that rounded off the enjoyment perfectly. The location, the stylish atmosphere and the first-class location make the Zenzakan one of the most exclusive places in Frankfurt. The staff was attentive, friendly and made us feel completely comfortable. We can confirm from our own experience that Zenzakan is rightly considered the best restaurant in Frankfurt. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

An absolutely great experience at Zenzakan Frankfurt! Although we were a little late due to the traffic jam from Stuttgart, we were still offered a place despite our delay - which we really appreciated. Valet parking for €5 was also very convenient. The food was just excellent, 10/10! The service was first class – attentive and friendly. We really enjoyed the evening and will definitely come back. The service has deteriorated quite a bit. You wait forever to order your food and drinks and are left stranded for a long time because no one comes to take the follow-up orders. The telephone availability in advance of the reservation is 0. I tried every evening for a week and no one answers the phone. The food and drinks are good but for such prices I expect a certain standard, which is not the case, so I won't visit again.

Zenzakan: More appearance than reality? An evening at Zenzakan – somewhere between stylish and exhausting. After an hour (!) of waiting, the Wagyu sandwich finally arrived. Expectation: Premium. Reality: Mediocre. The meat that was supposed to melt in your mouth was… well, there. Solid in taste, but really not in the league you would expect if it says “Wagyu” on it. The waiting time? Completely disproportionate, but good, patience is supposedly a virtue. The starters? Visually nice, taste not very impressive. Honestly, if price is the main player, taste shouldn't be a secondary consideration. It felt a bit like the focus was on being “Instagram-worthy” and less on what you were actually eating. Oh yes, a charming detail: you can hear animal noises in the urinal. Conclusion: Cheese beats Wagyu.

If you've seen the store at any influencer or something. Don't even begin to expect what you saw. Way too overpriced and absolutely average. Starters were ok but too expensive. But the most disrespectful thing were the lamb chops 50€ for 5-6 bones, because it wasn't more than that. There wasn't even a bit of meat on these lamb legs, completely dry and burnt. 260€ for 2 people for something that you can get at any grill. Once and never again thank you for nothing except €260 minus

Very very good. The best Far Eastern cuisine we have ever eaten. It was quiet in winter and we did not make a reservation. It's busier in the summer. If you ever come across it, I recommend you to go. It's a quality place.

I am torn between euphoria and disillusionment. We came especially from the Cologne area. Some of it was really excellent, but not everything. In my opinion, everything has to be right for the price level. The A5 Wagyu Sandwich was great, as was the Chicken Yakitori Skewer, as were the Wontons and Lamb Chops. The sushi, on the other hand, was a total failure. Spicy tuna without heat is not possible. The carpaccio lacked acidity and the truffle oil dominated the taste. All in all OK, but not outstanding.

One at 7:30 p.m. Tables reserved weeks in advance. On the day of the reservation I get a call that they made a mistake and I have a table at 9:30 p.m. Disaster. It's a shame because the food is to die for. Something like that shouldn't happen in one of the upscale restaurants.

I think you can only eat better sushi in Japan. I really enjoyed everything and couldn't stop eating. Everything just has such a special taste and everything is so soft 😭 I couldn't cope with the sushi and sashimi in my life, the salmon was so delicious... And those wasabi fries wow. Starter was also insane, I never thought it would appeal to me so much. Dessert was also just different, I can highly recommend Matcha Mochi and Matcha ice cream. About €118 per person, with starter, sushi, dessert and drinks, I actually think it's really manageable for the sick food you get. But we also had a lot of random things like the spinach salad, which I wouldn't get again next time (I'd rather have more wasbifries). If you forego the starters and dessert and just get sushi, you're looking at €70-80 per person and you can definitely do that in my opinion. Unfortunately I only give the service 4/5 stars because we had to wait quite a long time at the beginning until we got the menus, so it took a while until we got our food. Otherwise the staff is really nice and accommodating, you really feel very comfortable!

Wir hatten einen Tisch um 22 Uhr reserviert. Die Vorspeisen waren alles sehr gut, jedoch nicht herausragend. Die Beratung zu den Speisen des Kellners war mangelhaft, es schien als kannte er die Karte nicht. Anschließend wollten wir den Hauptgang bestellen, daraufhin wurde uns mitgeteilt, dass die Küche bereits geschlossen habe. Somit gingen wir ohne etwas richtiges gegessen zu haben. Das Preisleistungsverhältnis scheint erscheint mir sehr überzogen. Sehr enttäuschender Besuch.

It's definitely worth a visit. My highlights: The wonton crackers (10/10) with Angus beef tartare and the US prime beef (9/10). The Wagyu Katsu-Sando is also amazing, but it's enough if you share it because the taste is very special and intense. I'll come back and eat the duck.

The restaurant has recently received a lot of attention from various streamers. We wanted to take a look at the whole thing and it was definitely worth it. The food was very tasty and the restaurant really offers a lot in terms of cuisine. The service was top and the ambience was great too. The only point of criticism is the parking situation in the area and long waiting times despite a table reservation. Lamb chops and wontons with beef tartare are recommended.

The ambience was nice (it would be nicer if you could cross your legs under the table and the restaurant wasn't so huge, but that's not the problem) the staff was very friendly and helpful. What a restaurant! We had high expectations as there has been a lot of reporting about the Zenzakan in Frankfurt recently. Our expectations were even exceeded. The entrance, the ambience, the music, the location – simply incredibly good. When you walk in there, you immediately feel like you're in a movie. When we sat down and the great employees served us, I was surprised again: so helpful, so nice and, above all, they knew the menu by heart. They were able to answer all of our open questions and explain everything. The appetizers – gyoza and dynamite shrimp – were so delicious that we had to order more immediately. The main courses were a solid 10 out of 10. We all ordered something different and every dish was simply amazing. The price-performance ratio is completely fine. We paid around 80 euros per person, but for that you get quality that is convincing. There are other locations in Frankfurt that are more expensive but whose food is not nearly as good as Zenzakan. Absolut empfehlenswert! Wir hatten die Pekingente, die Lobster Roll, die heilige dreifaltigkeit der Sake Nigiri und die Wagyu Nigiri und waren alles in allem sehr zufrieden mit dem Essen. Die Wagyu Nigiri sind eine wahrhafte Geschmacksexplosion und die Peking Ente war die beste, die wir jemals hatten. Die Lobster Roll war die "schwächste" Speise, aber das ist hier jammern auf sehr hohem Niveau. Alles andere war geschmacklich überragend. Der Service war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam und wir hatten einen zauberhaften Abend. Wer Süßes mag, sollte das Signature Dessert auf jeden Fall dazu buchen: Lava Chocolate Cake, verschiedene Mochis, Kokos Crème Brulée, eine Obst Variation und mein persönliches Highlight der White Chocolate Japanese Cheesecake. Wir kommen immer wieder gerne hier her.

I am not a restaurant professional and my statement is completely subjective. When I entered the restaurant I was impressed by the interior, and that is it! The reception is not manned all the time which makes it hard due to the fact one has to wait in line to get seated or help. We had a reservation for a dinner on Saturday evening. “Unfortunately” we came a little early, so we had to wait for our table. This was not a huge problem for us because we thought we just crash the bar and have a drink or two. Came out this was not a good plan. We waited for 20 minutes and asked the waiter twice if we can order a drink. Nothing happened. After we have been brought to our table almost 15 minutes too late, we had the opportunity to wait for 25 minutes to order. What I found the most irritating is that there are so many students working. Since I am a teacher I recognized so many students which is not a problem for me but it came out they were definitely not familiar with the menu. We had wrong drinks and asking the waiter to ask and come back he insisted that it was the right one. After talking to another waitress it came out it was the wrong drink. The mains are huge so you can definitely eat and don’t have to nibble around. Sides are way too small for the price, also I was shocked when seeing the price for the truffle mayonnaise: 6.99€ All in all, it was an interesting experience and I felt like the waiters really had to hurry and run around. But therefore it did not feel special and intimate.

Have eaten here twice so far. The first time was great, nothing to complain about. The second time the food wasn't so great. I ate steak both times and can highly recommend the teriyaki sirloin tataki, unfortunately not so much the Wagyu Kagoshima. The sashimi variation, sushi, lobster dumplings, beef carpaccio, and tom yam gung soup were all delicious. All the side dishes with the steak were also delicious, the broccoli was the best, I would least recommend the wasabi fries. The matcha mochi were also very good and didn't taste too strongly of matcha. The chocolate soufflé, on the other hand, unfortunately tastes like frozen food that has been briefly warmed up in the oven. No difference to what you find in shisha bars or similar. And one of the waiters wasn't really friendly on the last visit, but the blonde waitress was even more so. Given the prices, something like the chocolate soufflé shouldn't happen. With the Wagyu steak you can perhaps speak more of personal preferences.

Most authentic cuisine in the world! The sushi was a dream, the service impeccable. The price-performance ratio is 100% right here. Always worth a visit.

I went to Zenzakan with my wife spontaneously (without reservation) at 5 p.m. during the week. When we got there there was no table occupied and we were told that everything was reserved for that evening. We then left, but with over 100 seats, not making room for 2 people is very weak and shows the little gastronomic knowledge in such restaurant chains. Absolutely not recommended.

Wow!!!! €517.00 for a really bad evening with a shocking crowd. Okay, Peking duck wasn't available, nor was the wine selected. Given the exorbitant prices, the sommelier was also unwilling to adjust the price of the alternative. We should understand that the stocks were sold/drunk through the automobile fair. Well, that's probably due to a bad purchase without a forecast. In the end, 5 or 6 different waiters came to our table to tell us that some colleague had sweated something beforehand. Most notable was the manager's appearance. He made it very clear to us that he didn't really care about any of this and wasn't interested in changing anything about the situation... Very clear feedback, we have often had lovely evenings with you over the last few years - but after yesterday's experience we will certainly not be coming back. With great hope that someone reads this message who perhaps doesn't care as much about everything as the employees do.

The food tastes good, but is far from excellent. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio is not right here, because the price promises excellence. The Chef's Sushi for 2 and the Bao Buns were particularly disappointing. Sushi good average, bao buns actually bad. Cucumber slice was much too big and the meat was neither soft nor crispy, unfortunately just tough. The carpaccio and the wontons should be positively mentioned. Overall, we don't recommend it due to the price-performance ratio.

I was looking forward to the evening in Zenzakan because of a special event. The ambience of the restaurant is really nice, but there are deficiencies in the service. The service or receptionist with the dark curly hair was anything but serious - stressed, annoyed and snotty! Unfortunately our expectations were not met and it was therefore the first and last visit - a shame.

I reserved a table at Zenzakan for my birthday and asked for a deep table with armchairs when making the reservation. The woman who took my reservation a week before also seated us that evening. On the way to the table she just left us and went away with a waiter. She (woman with dark curly hair) came back totally stressed, didn't even apologize and seated us. We got the table right at the entrance, high chairs and off to the toilet. I pointed out to her that I specifically asked for a nice table when I made my reservation... she immediately got rude and said we could also go out to eat somewhere else... after I had to argue for ages, we finally got the table we wanted, However, I find such behavior impossible. We had to wait at the bar, where we weren't offered a drink or anything like that. The lady was Simply too lazy to set a new table because the exact table I wanted wasn't occupied Beyond that, we weren't even asked if we wanted a dessert plate or anything like that. I didn't expect anything, but as a new customer on a birthday I find it hard not to even get an espresso on the house. The store is beautifully decorated, but this kind of service was really subpar, which is why I regret celebrating such an occasion here. I'm sure that many people spend well over €100 pp on a dinner precisely because of the mix of ambience/service/food, but that evening everything really went wrong... a shame

Wir sind seit vielen Jahre Gäste im Zenzakan und waren immer gerne dort. Insgesamt ist es nach wie vor gut aber leider nicht mehr sehr gut. Die unglaublichen Cocktails der Vergangenheit findet man leider nicht mehr vor. Zudem wurden sie alle zeitversetzt serviert. Der Service ist weiterhin wirklich toll und sehr gastorientiert, an der Stelle kann man absolut nichts kritisieren. Sushi und Hauptspeise waren lecker aber auch hier haben die letzten Besonderheiten gefehlt.

Eat: We ordered two courses one after the other. The first course (starter) was very good, the second course (main course) was well prepared but a little oversalted and didn't quite suit our taste. The dish (Peking duck) we were there for was already ready at 9:30. Cocktail ordered more ice than drink received. Service: Given the price, I expected top service, which was absolutely not the case. As soon as we arrived we were sent back and forth until we arrived at the right reception. With two entrances, I would expect two receptions for such a large store. Although we had deliberately reserved for 3 in order to get a larger table, we were shown to a really uncomfortable table for two. After we sat down, we were treated as mass customers for the rest of the evening and had to wait forever until we could even order the second course.

I recently visited this restaurant, and my experience was unfortunately far from positive. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by a blonde lady at the host stand. She gave the impression that the restaurant was much busier than it actually was. Although we didn't have a reservation, I could see that there were plenty of open tables. Nonetheless, the hostess informed us that all tables were occupied and we would have to wait. So, we sat at the bar. While sitting there, I remembered the restaurant group’s website and spontaneously made a reservation, receiving confirmation on the spot. When I approached the hostess and let her know I had a reservation, along with the confirmation, I was finally escorted to our assigned table. I couldn’t help but wonder what her issue was—jealousy or something else? She should focus on her job and not judge who we are. The assigned table was horrendous; it was right in the middle of the restaurant, next to tables for two. There was no privacy whatsoever; we could overhear conversations from both sides, and vice versa. My guess the table itself was only L50cm x W50cm, which was not nearly enough space for our orders. The food wasn’t anything special—nothing noteworthy to comment on. However, the waiter and bar staff were nice, which was a small bright spot. Unfortunately, the atmosphere felt more like an Asian inspired prison canteen, given the noise and how close everyone was to each other. The weather wasn’t good enough to sit outside either. The bathroom was decorated in a different yet interesting way and, most importantly, it was clean. You can access the main road directly from inside the restaurant by cutting through the Ivory Club, which I had never known before, even though I’ve been here many times. I wouldn’t recommend this place for a first date due to the lack of privacy caused by the seating arrangement. Also, nothing on the menu left me wowed. Personally, I still prefer, enjoy, and recommend M Steakhouse.

An honest review follows. Completely overhyped in my opinion. Yes, the food is high quality and good, but it's not nearly as good as what you're told. You can go there once, but not a second time. There are clearly better restaurants. Peace Out!

Great atmosphere, but unfortunately the Zenzakan develops backwards from visit to visit. The portions are getting smaller and the prices are getting higher. The cocktails are now just cheeky rip-offs! Cristal Mojito is an outrage at €17 in the smallest glass in the world. Mini egg rice as a side dish for €9! It is and remains just rice. Mr. Mook had written to me personally after my last review and had seen his prices at the lower end of the pricing spectrum. In which world? Sorry, completely out of touch and unreasonable! We don't come anymore and some people around us have exactly the same impression and would rather go somewhere else for a good meal in the future. Price/performance at best 2 out of 5 stars.

No recommendation!!! If you're willing to spend a lot of money on average sushi or steaks, this is the place for you. The price is disproportionate to what is offered. The receptionist was extremely rude and initially made us feel that we were not welcome. The service was also unprofessional. I would really avoid this place. I thought people with higher budgets also had higher tastes, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

Expected a lot and was very disappointed. No trace of high-class service and quality food. We sat near the kitchen counter and you could hear everything. From employee conversations to polishing cutlery. Ordered 5 dishes, everything came out at once, so you didn't even know where to start. By the time you had eaten the other thing, the dish was already cold. More like a check-in like in a buffet restaurant. I advise you to turn the music louder to cover up the annoying conversations between the employees and the background noise. Cocktails weren't high quality either. The money was really too good for me, even though I like to spend money on good food.

The price-performance ratio doesn't fit at all, the staff seems quite chaotic and not coordinated with each other. The food is ok but nothing more, the expectations were of course different at these prices, but every normal middle class restaurant in Frankfurt can do it exactly the same. Definitely not a recommendation.

I'm a bit conflicted about our visit and the rating. Overall, we had a really successful and delicious evening. The food was very well prepared and according to my husband the lamb chops were the best he has ever tasted. The Kung Pao chicken was also delicious, but in my opinion nothing special for 33 euros. The sushi was great, as was the tartare! The cocktails are totally overpriced at over 20 euros. It was an experience, but for a total of just under €250 I wouldn't repeat it again.

The store isn't bad, but the social media hype hypes it up a bit too much. Overall it was a nice evening, but I don't think the prices were entirely reasonable. The sushi wasn't bad, but not outstanding either and therefore not entirely appropriate for the price. The often touted wagyu sandwich was great, but ultimately a bit too expensive. The taste and service in a Michelin restaurant is simply something different and not much more expensive than an evening at zenzagan. Despite all this, it's a great restaurant and highly recommended. Solid 4 stars, good store, but still room for improvement. The wine list should have more offerings in the middle range, the jump between €50 and €500 for a bottle is too big.
