We had a professional advisor/service person at the table! The foams are pure enjoyment, a taste explosion! Water bottles are served open...? Why? A little too dark in the restaurant. Otherwise it's fine.

Wir sind seit vielen Jahre Gäste im Zenzakan und waren immer gerne dort. Insgesamt ist es nach wie vor gut aber leider nicht mehr sehr gut. Die unglaublichen Cocktails der Vergangenheit findet man leider nicht mehr vor. Zudem wurden sie alle zeitversetzt serviert. Der Service ist weiterhin wirklich toll und sehr gastorientiert, an der Stelle kann man absolut nichts kritisieren. Sushi und Hauptspeise waren lecker aber auch hier haben die letzten Besonderheiten gefehlt.

Eat: We ordered two courses one after the other. The first course (starter) was very good, the second course (main course) was well prepared but a little oversalted and didn't quite suit our taste. The dish (Peking duck) we were there for was already ready at 9:30. Cocktail ordered more ice than drink received. Service: Given the price, I expected top service, which was absolutely not the case. As soon as we arrived we were sent back and forth until we arrived at the right reception. With two entrances, I would expect two receptions for such a large store. Although we had deliberately reserved for 3 in order to get a larger table, we were shown to a really uncomfortable table for two. After we sat down, we were treated as mass customers for the rest of the evening and had to wait forever until we could even order the second course.

I recently visited this restaurant, and my experience was unfortunately far from positive. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by a blonde lady at the host stand. She gave the impression that the restaurant was much busier than it actually was. Although we didn't have a reservation, I could see that there were plenty of open tables. Nonetheless, the hostess informed us that all tables were occupied and we would have to wait. So, we sat at the bar. While sitting there, I remembered the restaurant group’s website and spontaneously made a reservation, receiving confirmation on the spot. When I approached the hostess and let her know I had a reservation, along with the confirmation, I was finally escorted to our assigned table. I couldn’t help but wonder what her issue was—jealousy or something else? She should focus on her job and not judge who we are. The assigned table was horrendous; it was right in the middle of the restaurant, next to tables for two. There was no privacy whatsoever; we could overhear conversations from both sides, and vice versa. My guess the table itself was only L50cm x W50cm, which was not nearly enough space for our orders. The food wasn’t anything special—nothing noteworthy to comment on. However, the waiter and bar staff were nice, which was a small bright spot. Unfortunately, the atmosphere felt more like an Asian inspired prison canteen, given the noise and how close everyone was to each other. The weather wasn’t good enough to sit outside either. The bathroom was decorated in a different yet interesting way and, most importantly, it was clean. You can access the main road directly from inside the restaurant by cutting through the Ivory Club, which I had never known before, even though I’ve been here many times. I wouldn’t recommend this place for a first date due to the lack of privacy caused by the seating arrangement. Also, nothing on the menu left me wowed. Personally, I still prefer, enjoy, and recommend M Steakhouse.

An honest review follows. Completely overhyped in my opinion. Yes, the food is high quality and good, but it's not nearly as good as what you're told. You can go there once, but not a second time. There are clearly better restaurants. Peace Out!

Great atmosphere, but unfortunately the Zenzakan develops backwards from visit to visit. The portions are getting smaller and the prices are getting higher. The cocktails are now just cheeky rip-offs! Cristal Mojito is an outrage at €17 in the smallest glass in the world. Mini egg rice as a side dish for €9! It is and remains just rice. Mr. Mook had written to me personally after my last review and had seen his prices at the lower end of the pricing spectrum. In which world? Sorry, completely out of touch and unreasonable! We don't come anymore and some people around us have exactly the same impression and would rather go somewhere else for a good meal in the future. Price/performance at best 2 out of 5 stars.

No recommendation!!! If you're willing to spend a lot of money on average sushi or steaks, this is the place for you. The price is disproportionate to what is offered. The receptionist was extremely rude and initially made us feel that we were not welcome. The service was also unprofessional. I would really avoid this place. I thought people with higher budgets also had higher tastes, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

Expected a lot and was very disappointed. No trace of high-class service and quality food. We sat near the kitchen counter and you could hear everything. From employee conversations to polishing cutlery. Ordered 5 dishes, everything came out at once, so you didn't even know where to start. By the time you had eaten the other thing, the dish was already cold. More like a check-in like in a buffet restaurant. I advise you to turn the music louder to cover up the annoying conversations between the employees and the background noise. Cocktails weren't high quality either. The money was really too good for me, even though I like to spend money on good food.

The price-performance ratio doesn't fit at all, the staff seems quite chaotic and not coordinated with each other. The food is ok but nothing more, the expectations were of course different at these prices, but every normal middle class restaurant in Frankfurt can do it exactly the same. Definitely not a recommendation.

I'm a bit conflicted about our visit and the rating. Overall, we had a really successful and delicious evening. The food was very well prepared and according to my husband the lamb chops were the best he has ever tasted. The Kung Pao chicken was also delicious, but in my opinion nothing special for 33 euros. The sushi was great, as was the tartare! The cocktails are totally overpriced at over 20 euros. It was an experience, but for a total of just under €250 I wouldn't repeat it again.

The store isn't bad, but the social media hype hypes it up a bit too much. Overall it was a nice evening, but I don't think the prices were entirely reasonable. The sushi wasn't bad, but not outstanding either and therefore not entirely appropriate for the price. The often touted wagyu sandwich was great, but ultimately a bit too expensive. The taste and service in a Michelin restaurant is simply something different and not much more expensive than an evening at zenzagan. Despite all this, it's a great restaurant and highly recommended. Solid 4 stars, good store, but still room for improvement. The wine list should have more offerings in the middle range, the jump between €50 and €500 for a bottle is too big.

Our visit to ZENZAKAN on August 6th was an absolute highlight! The atmosphere was simply fantastic – a perfect mix of elegance and coziness. The dishes were a true experience for the senses. The sushi and sashimi were incredibly fresh and artfully presented, and the lamb was tender and full of flavor. Every detail was perfect, from the friendly service to the exquisite selection of dishes. ZENZAKAN exceeded our expectations and we are already looking forward to our next visit. We were at Zanzakan yesterday with a larger group. The food and ambience were top. But the service was really a disaster in this price range. The person who accompanied us throughout the evening was unfriendly, rude and didn't appear at all. In the end I thought I was in Istanbul, we were told (even though I asked on the phone) that the bill cannot be paid separately. In the end it worked and it turned out that more drinks were booked than ordered. I don't want to blame anyone, but it seemed very strange to us.

An experience! We had a sensational evening of culinary delights. Everything was so delicious and beautifully presented. The service was super nice and special requests were fulfilled at the bar. It's clearly a restaurant that isn't cheap. But if you want to treat yourself to something special: go and enjoy.

We came here for lunch. The interior design of the place was amazing. We ordered Sushi, Sashimi, Shrimp Tempura, Spicy Lobster Dumplings for the starters. And for the main course, we ordered Truffle Robota Chicken and Velveted Black Pepper Beef. The sashimi and the sushi was really fresh and tasty. One of my fav plate was the dumpling filled with lobster. And the main course favorite was robota for me. The staff was so kind and helpful. There is parking with the payment around the restaurant. The place is in the center of the city, close to the Alter-Oper. I wıll come again for sure

We have no complaints about Zenzakan. The booking is easy, and communication is quick. It is also very easy to modify as we had to modify our time after a busy day. We had brief trouble finding it but the valet outside the ivory club quickly noticed and guided us through the restaurant toward zenzakan. The staff are attentive and have one of the quickest response timing we’ve experienced. The food came in a timely manner, not too quick not too long. Waiter had great recommendations and great energy. Atmosphere was lovely and other customers were great as well and everyone seemed at ease and kind. Would highly recommend this place. Between two people, with tip, mocktails, and dessert, spent €300. The restaurant doesn’t include service tip in the final bill, please remember to tip!

The location is beautiful and the service is very attentive. But I didn't like the food. Especially because the three chicken skewers that were served with the starter were still RAW inside! That has already spoiled my appetite for everything.

The Zenzakan, I would say one of the best restaurant interiors in FFM Great! To be honest, I don't know how best to describe it, but I'll call it "drawer company". I was here with a friend because Zenzakan was still on my to-do list. Done! When I arrived we were asked to wait at the bar until our table was ready, there were already serious problems with the service at the bar, we weren't served by the bartender, he preferred to talk to his colleague and forgot about us. Shortly before our table was ready, he came and asked us what we wanted to drink, but in a way that was extremely disgusting. I was a bit dismayed and gave up my order but left it uncommented as we got to our table I noticed that the waiter was also a bit dismissive and that's when I thought to myself, shouldn't the service be top in a shop like this? Will you be better served here if you dress better? As expected, the service from the waiter was also not appropriate for the location!! Nevertheless, the food was great, both the starters and the main courses were top! In the end you can say that the location, the facilities and the food are at Champions League level, but the service and service are at Religious League level. It's a shame!

Have eaten here twice so far. The first time was great, nothing to complain about. The second time the food wasn't so great. I ate steak both times and can highly recommend the teriyaki sirloin tataki, unfortunately not so much the Wagyu Kagoshima. The sashimi variation, sushi, lobster dumplings, beef carpaccio, and tom yam gung soup were all delicious. All the side dishes with the steak were also delicious, the broccoli was the best, I would least recommend the wasabi fries. The matcha mochi were also very good and didn't taste too strongly of matcha. The chocolate soufflé, on the other hand, unfortunately tastes like frozen food that has been briefly warmed up in the oven. No difference to what you find in shisha bars or similar. And one of the waiters wasn't really friendly on the last visit, but the blonde waitress was even more so. Given the prices, something like the chocolate soufflé shouldn't happen. With the Wagyu steak you can perhaps speak more of personal preferences.

We wanted to celebrate a friend's birthday here. We have not experienced worse service in all our years in Frankfurt. You wait what feels like an hour for a bottle of vodka. We then wanted to pre-order drinks so that we could toast at 12 p.m. Unfortunately, this took more than 15 minutes, so we almost couldn't get started in time. Furthermore, despite so much going wrong, our waiter was unfriendly and even rude instead of being accommodating.

A local “trendy” restaurant that reminds me of Buddha bars and other “lounge” restaurants from the 2000s in certain European cities. We wanted a special evening and chose Zenzakan. The service was very attentive & the food always came very quickly. The starters were very tasty. We wanted the Peking duck for the main course, but we had to order it in advance, which no one had informed us about. So we switched to the ox rib and the chef's choice of sushi sashimi. Both very tasty. I would have hoped for a little more variation with the sushi and not just the two simplest rolls. The ox rib was very tender, we also ordered garlic rice, which was one of the highlights of the evening. All in all it was very tasty but not worth the money. We wouldn't come back for a while

An experience you have to make when in Frankfurt City! With valet parking and all the perks!

Went to Zenzakan for the first time last night. At the beginning of the evening we came with very high expectations since it is already considered more upscale cuisine. At the beginning we were greeted very nicely by the waiter and had a good first impression. The Basil Smash Cocktail is an absolute recommendation, I haven't had a better drink yet, but for €18 there is very little cocktail in the glass if you remove the giant ice cube. We also found the starters to be very solid and well seasoned, which suited our taste. The main course was also solid, the ox rib was tasty and tender (with rice which was ok) We expected a lot more from the sushi for the price, it wasn't much better than standard except for the presentation. Conclusion: 3 stars everywhere due to the high prices, the service was nice and friendly, but could be even more attentive and quick. The food was delicious but also had positive and negative sides. There would probably have been 5 stars everywhere if it were a normal price category, but you would expect a lot more. You can tell that the “better known ones” get an extra treat in terms of service and taste from the YouTube videos We would probably still come back again to be proven wrong and overall it wasn't a bad experience.

Were on May 10th. there, recommended with all my heart! The food was exceptionally great! So delicious, many thanks to the kitchen for this magical feat. The ambience is classy and elegant. There's nothing to say about the price, it's proportionate to the performance and what you get. My favorite in Frankfurt am Main. Unfortunately, interest in the guest wanes after the bill has been paid. An expensive scarf was lost in the wardrobe, but there was little interest in clarifying the matter. Replacement or compensation? None... Good customer service can be different!

Nice restaurant, we ordered sushi, dumplings, vegetarian and all sorts of things and all tasted very good. Took a long time to find them though as the google maps marker was way off the real location and not a single sign anywhere. Although the place is bog it still feels cozy. Update may 24 - google map marker moved per my suggestion, thanks!

Very good restaurant, but when using the valet service you should inspect the vehicle for possible damage when dropping off and returning the vehicle. The front right rim was damaged. Unfortunately, our visit to Zenzakan was disappointing. Despite a reservation, when we arrived we were transferred from one waiter to the next in an uncoordinated manner. Eventually we were asked to register on the terrace, which we were initially pleased about as we like sitting outside. However, our joy quickly turned into disappointment when - after the two ushers had finished chatting - we were sent back inside the restaurant, even though the terrace was still completely free and the weather was very nice. The service did not improve as the evening progressed. In the end we had to wait 5 minutes for the bill and even though we had already announced that we wanted to pay by card, the card machine was initially forgotten and then didn't work. Finally we paid in cash and had to wait another 5 minutes for our change. When I told the waitress my view of the evening, she offered us a "shot" as compensation, which we declined. The crowning glory was the valet - we had given him the tip recommended by the Zenzakan via a sign when we returned the vehicle - unfortunately he apparently couldn't remember us anymore because he pointed out the tip recommendation when we returned the vehicle. Although the food was delicious, the rest of the experience was subpar. We decided not to come back.

Absolutely overrated! Food average, ambience okay but what's the point of a nice ambience if all the guests are crammed at the tables at the front while there is a yawning emptiness at the back of the restaurant. Completely overpriced for the taste experience on offer.

Where do I start?! A little confusing at first as the building houses 2 different types of restaurants. Entrance to Zenzakan is inside the White Ivory restaurant (very German cuisine) via very huge mahogany ancient doors up a few flights of stairs in the middle of the White Ivory restaurant. There are other rooms when you make it through Nania (the lion, the witch and the wardrobe style of entrance into another world). Unsure if these rooms where part of the White Ivory or Zenzakan. Anyhow there's a very wide and large red oak/mahogany wooden stars leading downstairs to Zenzakan. You should have burnt enough calories by now. Are you hungry? Good. There's a treat awaiting your eyes as you walk into this exquisitely decorated restaurant. The ambience is like something out of a glossy high end magazine. The staff are very welcoming and they speak perfect English too (for non fluent/non German speakers). Menus are in both English and German. The dishes are served in a very timely manner and what a sight to be behold as they were placed on our table. The food tasted just as delicious as they looked. Chef's kiss! Overall, beautiful ambience and delicious foods and excellent service, but for the price tag I wouldn't expect anything less. Somewhere to go to on special occasions or just to treat yourself (because you deserve it) and experience fine dinning. Dinner (starter, mains and dessert) for myself and my friend with a glass of wine each and a bottle of water came to just under €200 (including tip). No complaints. It was worth it and I would go back again. Con: the lighting was a little too dark for my friend to really appreciate what was on her plate, but her taste buds were delighted at the taste. Highly recommended if you have the budget for it.

We had a confirmed reservation for 7 p.m. When I came in, my husband said that the table was reserved in his first name. The name (it is really an international, simple name) was still not understood after 3 repetitions and the unprofessional receptionist said that there was no reservation. After we repeated the first name again, an answer came: “Oh, “xy” or something like that. She couldn't pronounce a simple German last name and followed it with “or something like that.” Seriously ? An adequate answer came from me and was followed up with irony. Unfortunately, since we just wanted to have a quick dinner, there wasn't enough time to inform the managing director/operations manager or whoever was in charge there. An absolute no go! I would seriously think about the reception. Awkward !!! The service staff were really very accommodating, pleasant and friendly. The food was OK, but the prices were clearly too high for what you got. I think that this is no longer a secret anymore. 45 minutes and 250€ later we left the restaurant, which will neither be visited again nor recommended!

Waren mit Freunden aus München zum Abendessen im Zenzakan. Unsere Freunde waren vom Ambiente komplett geflashed. Hatten einen schönen Tisch mit Blick auf den beeindruckenden Weinkeller. Das Essen, ins besondere die große Sushi Vorspeisenplatte, lies keine Wünsche offen. Der Service war wie immer perfekt und das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist angemessen. Wir freuen uns schon auf den nächsten Besuch im Zenzakan und werden sicher dafür einen Anlass finden.

First of all, the claim in some comments that this location has a Michelin star is NOT true. However, the food tastes quite good and is presented nicely, but it doesn't hold up in this price category. Offering 4 tablespoons of egg rice for €9.90 has to be presented differently so that the "being ripped off" is perceived as warming the nest. The ambience is a matter of taste, at least it is stylish and dark, elegant. The service started off strong and was friendly and accommodating, but this was not the case throughout the entire evening. The space at the bar also revealed deficiencies in the bar staff. With cocktails that cost an average of 17 euros, I expect a more professional preparation. The "meat platter" for 170€ for 2 people......let's just say the bones were decorated decoratively and I have never gnawed as little lamb off the bone as I did in this restaurant. There was approximately 250 grams of meat on the platter for two people. However, at this price point, it's not enough. The sushi as a starter, tasteful and nicely presented, does not reach the price of the menu of almost €34 in its variety of tastes! . Conclusion: much ado about nothing.

Ambiete im Zenzakan ist aus meiner Sicht unbeschreiblich, kenne wenig vergleichbares. Preise sind gemessen was man hier geboten bekommt absolut in Ordnung. Aus meiner Sicht: 100% Weiterempfehlung.

We were there with 8 people. The staff ran around, but were always friendly, but you had to wait quite a long time for service. We waited a long time to get the card and to pay you had to stop someone who seemed friendly but stressed. The staff can't do anything about that, but they need more employees - or fewer guests (: The ambience itself was nice, the toilets were very clean, but some of the display cases were quite dusty and not nice to look at. The food was delicious, you can get the same quality and, above all, quantity but for less money (handful of rice for side dish for €8.99 :D) - you pay for the ambience and the location, I think that's okay at first, just for I simply expect more from the money you leave here in the points mentioned above. I would give the Zenzakan another chance to completely convince me, maybe during the week.

The food was worth the price, the waiters were very attentive, and all in all it was a very nice evening in a beautiful setting.

A great evening with professional and friendly service in a casual manner. Good drink recommendations and very tasty food. The ambience is harmonious, perhaps a bit dark. Finding the entrance is a bit difficult - we went through the Ivory Club past the toilets (it was exciting). The main entrance with an Asian garden looks great.

just terrible! a huge hall, thousands of guests crowded together. far too crowded, far too loud and pitch black. you can hardly see the food on the table (maybe it's better that way). The tables are much too small that you have to put your plate on your lap so that they can put some platters down. In addition, it was completely unjustifiably overpriced at €280 per person

First of all: All service employees deserve great praise. Now, unfortunately, without further ado, to the negative: The Zenzakan is clearly positioned in the higher-priced segment. High prices can be justified by the location, ambience, exclusivity, service, quality of ingredients, and of course the craftsmanship. When it comes to Zenzakan, I find this justification (sometimes very) difficult, at least from the guest's point of view. 20 euros for a cocktail? Okay. This is also what you do in good cocktail bars. 9 euros for a tea? There are certainly exquisite, extremely expensive green teas. Maybe that was one of them. 10 euros for a bottle of seltzer? impertinence. I'm out of here. The main courses are good. I can probably say the quality of the ingredients is good too. Good craftsmanship - but not what you would expect in this price range. For example, my dish was presented exactly as the delivery service would have done. The price with an aperitif and dessert is around 100-200 euros per person. plus wine. You probably don't want to pour wine by the glass. Instead I had a beer that was just slightly below room temperature.

It was a bit difficult to find the restaurant because you have to go through Ivory Club to enter the restaurant, but the restaurant looks nice and the food was good. I must say though that the sushi was overpriced and not very special. The waiters and restaurant staff are extremely friendly. We received lovely server from our waiter John :)

By far the best package between fine dining, service and the perfect ambience in Frankfurt. Something has been thought of for every dish, with combinations that go far beyond the standard cuisine. Every dish was prepared to perfection. Fish and meat dishes in particular were simply perfect. Of course everything has its hefty price, but I still believe that you should experience it all. Definitely a top address for very special occasions

The food was really tasty, portions were rather small and overpriced. The service was nothing special, we weren't even asked if everything was OK. Glass of wine was often empty because it wasn't always refilled. Vallet Parking was catastrophic - the employees were very unfriendly due to stress and a lot of work and were just pissed off by the situation. There was a queue to drop off and pick up the car (which is even better when it rains). In the end, the cars were no longer brought and had to be picked up themselves.

The waiter is super nice and funny, everything is perfect, only the Asian dishes could have been a bit more original.

It didn't taste as expected, the food was cold and there was hardly any meat in the food. Measly portions. Music is good but way too loud. All in all very disappointing.

This was a really cool restaurant. The food was good but would say you go for the experience. The restaurant is stunning and definitely feels like you are walking in to another world. Little hard to find if you don't know what you are looking for but once we found it we had a great time. If you want a cool experience and some good food would definitely recommend. Highly suggest for events or special dinners as this is definitely a unique experience. The staff was kind and attentive, although busy so it took a couple tries to pay the check.

Positive: Very central location, right next to the old opera in Frankfurt. For me it is one of the top 3 of the most beautiful and impressive restaurant locations in Frankfurt. The Mook Group takes all three places. Above all, Franziska. Insight was also shown. Negative: Unfortunately our duck was just too dry and with a price point of €99 it just has to be okay. A service employee used chopsticks to pull out my side dishes from the duck pancake to show me how it really works. I was really speechless for a moment. She was otherwise very committed and attentive, but somehow that was a bit too much for me.

Super Service! Ob am Empfang, der Garderobe oder der Service am Tisch! Selbst am Toiletteneingang die Dame war mehr als freundlich. Allesamt sehr aufmerksam aber nicht aufdringlich. Very nice atmosphere and delicious food. The restaurant is upscale and modernly furnished. It could be a bit brighter, you sometimes have to make an effort to read the menu. We tried something from all the dishes. We really enjoyed the grilled dishes, such as the steak and lobster. However, the sushi is not justified for the price. Very small rolls for 25-35€ each, taste ok-good but not a taste explosion. But you can definitely treat yourself to Zenzakan for a nice evening.

In my opinion, a completely overrated restaurant, the sushi we ordered is better and much cheaper next door. We had TomYam soup as a starter and it was good, the saucer filled with raw rice was very decadent. We asked for a prosecco as an aperitif and were told that we only have champagne, a poor image for a Michelin restaurant. The service was friendly but condescending and not really appropriate. Overall a disappointment for this price range, we would have expected better. Once and never again!

Full five stars in every respect! I am well versed in Asian cuisine and know very good, award-winning restaurants around the world, but it was still an unexpected taste explosion. I tried many dishes during my visit, nothing was even close to average, it was very good or even a revelation! Unfortunately, the bill was also a revelation, but I still think that the price/performance ratio is okay for what is on offer. Absolute and unreserved recommendation!

The location itself is inviting and tastefully designed. The atmosphere was pleasant and cozy, which contributed to a relaxed dining experience. The attention to detail in the furnishings contributed to a particularly attractive environment. Now to the culinary highlight – the food. The selection of dishes was impressive and the quality of the food was first class. Each dish was expertly prepared and the flavors were sensational. It was a real delight for the taste buds! However, what really made this visit unforgettable was our waiter Alex. His professionalism, attentiveness and friendliness were impressive. He was always there to make recommendations, make sure we weren't missing anything, and enhance our entire experience. A truly perfect service! Overall, I can fully recommend this restaurant. For excellent food, a wonderful location, a pleasant atmosphere and perfect service from waiter Alex, this is definitely the right choice. We will definitely come back!
