Katomi in Frankfurt am Main

We had the pleasure of spending a pleasant evening with business clients from Switzerland at Katomi this week. The food and atmosphere were perfect. We were also spontaneously offered the VIP room, so we had less disruption. We highly recommend the food and service.

It’s a bit expensive and the staff is a bit slow which is why there are only 3 stars for service. BUT the atmosphere is really good and the foot is top notch, especially the sushi 🍣

Service: 20 minutes wait for the order, which was then incorrectly entered in the system. Another 20 minutes wait for the food. Instead of bringing the included miso soup up front, everything was delivered at the same time after my husband complained. Totally chaotic and incompetent. Food: The quality has declined dramatically. Our pho used to be good, but now it's just a boring broth. Other dishes (like chicken with noodles) are also mediocre and not worth the endless wait. The exotic steam effect is just for show. Absolutely not recommended. ★☆☆☆☆

Super tasty, top quality - own sauces, TOP service - gladly again

We waited almost 2 hours for the main course, which is quite challenging... It's not really possible... We ordered red wine, a very nice primitivo but unfortunately it was much too warm... I have no idea where it's stored, but it was really nothing. We ordered the entrecote medium well and it was medium rare... so back to the kitchen... The sushi was really delicious, but all the dishes were served at different times... hmmmm... even a snack bar can manage that... With 8 people you should have some timing... All in all: not again for a while

The pho soup was incredibly delicious. The service was fast and very friendly. Also worth mentioning: the kitchen is open until 10 p.m.

A little bit like Zezakan – superb sushi and successful Asian fusion. Very nice interior in an extraordinary building with stunning architecture. Impeccable price-performance ratio. Very friendly and attentive service; they still need a bit of practice, but not bad at all.

The food was excellent. Fantastic, perfectly crafted sushi. The service struggled a bit with the restaurant being so full, but everyone was always on top of things.

A truly delightful experience, and the most interesting thing is that it's the only place in the area that stays open until 11 p.m. The decor is beautiful.

Sushi with an ALIVE FLY 🪰 in the box. A few days ago, we ordered sushi to go, picked up the sushi and went home. As we were hungry and starting to eat the first roll, we noticed there was a fly walking over the rolls. This Katomi fly had been already trapped in the sushi box, walking over our food for half an hour. Having a fly in our food is not hygienic and is unacceptable. 🤮 🤢 We called the restaurant and they said they would change it. After this, we would’ve had to spend almost one hour just to go and pick up the new food and then come back. Initially in this first call, they at least offered to change the rolls for new ones… For sure we threw away the rest of the food into the garbage. As we were making ourselves ready to go and pick up the new rolls, they called us back again and told us that if we don’t bring the old sushi, they wouldn’t change it. Since the sushi was already mixed into the garbage, we were not going to pick it up and bring it to them. It was already disgusting and we had already enough disappointment and time waste. The least they should have done is delivering the sushi at our place immediately; instead of us having to do an extra trip to pick it up… understanding it was KATOMI’s mistake and unhygienic procedure the reason why we ended up without our dinner. I know I have some reach with my G maps views, going up to the millions of views on my posts in the last months. I almost never write a bad review, but If you see this post, I hope you are aware of this inconvenient, but worse than this: understand the customer service will not bring you the solution according to this kind of mistake. We lost our €36, but at least Katomi is aware that they lost a few customers within my circle, that would have given them way more profit than the €36 this sushi box was worth.

We were here for the first time today – it was simply delicious. Both the sushi and the bowls were delicious and beautifully presented. We'll definitely be back. TOP!

Unfortunately disappointing – food and service leave a lot to be desired I recently ate there and was disappointed on several levels. The sushi rolls were extremely small – it wasn't clear on the menu. The Philadelphia roll was particularly problematic: The cream cheese, which the description said was included, was completely missing. When we politely complained, the waiter (wearing glasses) came to our table very rudely. He ripped the roll open in front of us with his chopsticks, supposedly to show that it did contain cream cheese – which was clearly not the case. He then returned with a plate and asked us to put the already torn piece of sushi on top. He then said that he would "of course take the roll back" if we didn't want to pay for it. We weren't offered a new roll – on the grounds that the sushi chef had already left. To us, this seemed like an attempt to shift the blame onto us, even though the mistake clearly lay with the restaurant. The atmosphere in the restaurant was pleasant, but that alone isn't enough when the food and service are of this standard. For us, it was definitely our last visit.

Have visited twice. Service friendly and prompt. Prices reasonable. Quantity and taste absolutely satisfactory. They run a good outfit.

A very tasty, affordable lunch menu. We sat outside during our lunch break and got a seat without a reservation. The food arrived quickly and was delicious!

It was the first time we'd visited Katomi, just the two of us. I'll keep it short: despite asking twice to wipe the table because it was sticky, it finally happened (for the main course), and only in a rudimentary way. The staff were not attentive! We had to shout aggressively to be able to order a main course. Our drink requests were not checked the entire evening; we had to take action ourselves. The self-sparkling water is not recommended; it doesn't fizz. I politely asked for another shot of carbonation... but that didn't change anything. We had the salmon tartare, the sweet potato fries, and sushi. Everything tasted average at best. I'd like to point you to Buddhas in Mainz - EXCELLENT! I don't usually write bad reviews, but all the frills in the pictures suggest something that simply wasn't realized during our visit. It's a shame, because at €50 per head, we simply expected more. We wouldn't go back.

Ich bin jetzt zum dritten Mal hier, aber irgendwie werden wir wohl keine Freunde mehr. Das sieht alles sehr nett aus, wenn sie mit Stickstoff Sushi im Rauchnebel servieren. Nach einem klassichen gebratenem Gericht, einmal Pho, probiere ich dieses Mal die Sushi. Sehr schade: es gibt keine günstigen Kombinationen, die irgendwie eine gesamte Vielfalt präsentieren, sondern nur thematisch: alles vegetarisch, oder alles Lachs flamée oder einfach so groß und teuer für eine Person. Ich habe mich an dem Lachs flamée probiert und muss sagen, dass ich damit nichts anfangen konnte. Zumindest nicht einen ganzen Teller vor. Der Nachtisch (Matcha-Eis) war gut. Beim Personal ist immer 50:50 - entweder super freundlich oder sehr zurückhaltend (vermutlich mangels guter Sprachkenntnisse)

The restaurant's interior and ambiance are very nice. We had various varieties of homemade ice tea (especially recommended for "Green Days" 👌🏻), the tuna tartare (deliciously prepared and highly recommended), and for the main course, the "Sharing is Caring" sushi platter, with a fantastic selection of consistently excellent sushi. The icing on the cake was the coconut-flavored panna cotta. The evening at Katominaar was an all-round wonderful experience 👌🏻

We were there with a large group of about 60 people, with advance notice and a reduced menu. Positive: The food was good. But that was it. I had to remind the waitress several times to check the drinks more often. I waited (timed) 42 minutes for my next drink. Some of our guests left the restaurant before dessert, saying, "They had an appointment the day after next." It also took forever for everyone to be served. While some had already finished their main course, orders were still being taken at the end of the table. The restaurant was clearly overwhelmed by the number of people. Drinks were only brought out sporadically in pairs (as many hands as one has). In the end, we weren't even asked for an aperitif or espresso (not on the house, but we weren't even asked if we wanted anything else for dessert). It's definitely nice there for two people. But if you're in a group (and in the reviews others write about similar experiences with as few as 10 people), you should avoid Katomi.

A really beautifully decorated restaurant, unfortunately with some loud and annoying radio hits in the background, and the service is friendlier at every kebab shop. My sushi plate was presented in the same way. I received an unfriendly welcome, with the attitude of "if you really want to eat here, then please." We waited about an hour for our food. My date's food was delicious, my sushi was okay. The icing on the cake was the lettuce leaf on my plate, which didn't fit at all. The plate was presented as if it were "oh right, they ordered sushi, let me finish it quickly." Waiting an hour for that? Awesome. I think the place is popular because you can go there with large groups, and all the Asian companies feel comfortable there for business dinners with 20 people. For a nice evening for two, I'd rather go somewhere else. Not a recommendation, sorry. I hope we caught a bad day; the other reviews seem pretty positive.

I ate there for the first time today with my boyfriend and we both really enjoyed it! The sushi there was very fresh and we really enjoyed it. The drinks were also very tasty! We are both only too happy to recommend it!

I recently ordered takeaway and it was incredibly delicious!!! I can't rate the on-site service, but everyone was nice and it looked nice. There are also lots of vegetarian or vegan options, which is great. The prices are also justified, the portions were really big. I'd love to go again :)

Escuché que era bastante bueno de amigos, así que una mesa para tres estaba reservada para los jueves 6 pm. Primero tuve que encontrar un lugar de estacionamiento - no es fácil! Menú en alemán/inglés - gran opción incl. Sushi. Sentarse está un poco cerca, lo notarás cuando el lugar se llene. La primera ronda de bebidas no tomó demasiado tiempo (el lugar no estaba ocupado) , pedimos el entrante grande para tres - me pareció insípido el « guisantes en la vaina ». Plato principal - pato con espárragos verdes, etc (espárragos no era tierno, más bien duro / leñoso). Todos los platos estaban bien / muy bien presentados, por ejemplo, hielo seco no se salvó. A las 7 pm el lugar estaba lleno, se notó que solo había dos empleados cubriendo todo el comedor, tratando de obtener otra ronda de bebidas tomó siglos! El lugar es muy querido porque "tráfico de personal de oficina" de los alrededores no tienen mucho que ir a tener "después de la cena de trabajo" fechas.

Unfortunately I have to complain, the food apparently wasn't prepared well or a member of staff was sick! I had diarrhea all evening and so did my date partner, so zero stars! Best of all, we went to eat with you and can usually tolerate everything, including spiciness, but instead of enjoying a date we took turns in the toilet!

We were guests at Katomi in a group of approx. 10 people. Positive: Service works as a team, very attentive, there is always someone there to take additional orders. Drink orders came very quickly, service was top. The menu contains Asian dishes in general, sushi but also vegan dishes. Everyone should find something here. Sanitary facilities very clean - top! Average: Starter tuna tartare - super tasty! - For just under €7.50 you only get half a portion compared to other restaurants. I would rather pay more for a real starter... Negative: Our table of more than 10 people crossed the room on the right to the entrance. There are a lot of other tables all around. Overall, everything is very cramped but, above all, much too loud. Even the person across from my table was difficult to have a conversation with. Conversations difficult. Price/performance ratio is also rather overrated in Google. Among other things, we ordered the sushi platter for 4 people. See image. A tower, a wooden fish and a wooden shelf are delivered on a tablet. - the dry ice smokes spectacularly, the whole restaurant is fascinated. Unfortunately, you can't eat the spectacle. See pictures - for 4 people the sushi offered is very scarce, a lot of rice - little fish. I would like to forgo all the “theater” and get more sushi. See pictures: There are e.g. a nigiri tuna only 1x - a nigiri salmon also only 1x - How are you supposed to share that with 4 people? Would we order the record again - definitely not... So the conclusion remains: Maybe an alternative for lunch from the office in the area, I wouldn't eat here with my wife because the atmosphere is very restless and the food is just average.

The food was good. I had sushi first and then the cashew duck. I'd love to come back for that. The service was a bit slow, but the restaurant was also very busy. Nevertheless, we would have liked to have a drink at the table, but unfortunately we were no longer taken into account. It was also very loud. The bottom line is that I strongly recommend going there!

Wir hatten einen Ecktisch und es war etwas problematisch rein und rauskommen, weil alles so eng beieinander gestellt war: sitzen kein Problem, aber wehe man will aufstehen und raus: ohne dass man andere beim Essen unterbrechen muss, geht es nicht - außer man wartet, bis dass die anderen Gäste aufgegessen haben und gegangen sind. Mein Pho (mit Rindfleisch) war sehr gut. Nur hatte ich darum gebeten die Sojasprossen wegzulassen. Bei der Bestellung wurde das bestätigt und "natürlich" kam es prompt wieder voll Sojasprossen. Ich mag sie nun mal nicht: welchen Sinn hat es daher, mir das reinzutun, damit sie dann doch liegenbleiben. Sonst stimmte an der Suppe alles. Sie hatten sogar vietnamesichen Kaffee in dem typischen Tassenfilter, aber leider zu wenig Milch für meinen Geschmack. Wenn ich denen das nächste sage, dass ich mehr Milch möchte, bekomme ich ihn bestimmt schwarz. Aller guten Dinge sind drei. Einen Versuch noch.

Wir haben uns hier mit einer Freundin zu einem gemütlichen Abendessen verabredet. Sie hatte den Tisch auf 18 Uhr bestellt, durch Parplatzsuche waren wir ca. 8 min zu spät und wurden mit dem Satz begrüßt, dass wir um 19:30 wieder draußen sein müssen!!! Sorry, aber das geht gar nicht. Da wird man schon hektisch beim Suchen in der sehr umfangreichen Karte und überlegt sich natürlich ob es vielleicht für zwei Gänge reicht, drei schafft man nicht. Nachdem wir ausgetrunken hatten, wurden wir natürlich auch nicht gefragt, ob wir vielleicht noch was trinken wollen, das hätte ja den Zeitrahmen des Restaurants gesprengt. Das Essen an sich war gut, aber die Ansage und damit verbunden die Ungemütlichkeit hat den Abend ruiniert. Wir kommen nicht wieder, schade!

OK. Ich bin normalerweise der große Pho-Fan, aber ausgerechnet an diesem Abend schwebte mir etwas gebratenes vor. Aber irgendwie war ich an dem Abend nicht so glücklich geworden. Obwohl es eigentlich viele Tische gab, hatte ich den Eindruck, dass sich die Kellner über spontane Gäste nicht so richtig freuen. Freundlicher Service ist für mich etwas anderes. Vielleicht trug diese Stimmung dazu bei, dass ich eben keine richtige Freude an meinem Essen entwickeln konnte. Das Essen sah schön aus, aber wenn ich eine Geschmacksexplosion erlebt hätte, würde ich auch den Wunsch haben, wiederzukommen. Aber bei mir eben nicht so schnell.

The food is okay here. Some things are good, and some are average. I wouldn’t come here specifically for the food, but the atmosphere and decor is really nice.

In my opinion, the food was very low quality and not worth the price, more over the staff was least bothered and rude. I couldn’t wait to leave the place after trying to finish the food. I won’t be going here again. The only palatable thing was the appearance of the food for pictures.

The positive points first: Nice atmosphere and good food. Service is subpar: Unfriendly service, one lady never had a smile on her face and became mushy at times. The service at the table changed constantly. When we had finished eating, no one showed up to clear away the place for a long time. When it's full, the place gets too loud.

A suitable place to eat and enjoy

I placed an 86€ order on lieferando and after 1h I called them and they vaguely said they were busy. After one more hour of wait they canceled the order. Never again.

Booked a table but need to wait at bar desk until proposed to take a sit. After placing an order, another >40 min of waiting time and absolutely ignorant personnel.

By far our favorite restaurant when it comes to sushi! The service has always been great. The employees can also help with questions regarding allergens. Food & drink really great. There are a dime a dozen restaurants in Frankfurt, but Katomi manages to stand out. The desserts are particularly recommended

A very nice restaurant, it not only looks classy from the outside, everything looks very classy inside too. The staff is very friendly and responds to special requests. As much as the food was decent, i still have my criticisms over the place. The presentation was good and well executed, i cant complain.
