Zenbi - Sushi & Asian Cuisine in Mainz

We had a lovely evening with delicious food and great service at Zenbi. Absolutely recommended!

Can definitely recommend the Thai curry with the crispy chicken, very crispy and well seasoned. There is a good selection of food and drinks. It was a bit cold inside, but that could also be due to the time of year.

We struggled a bit to find it but when we did, we felt welcome but this cozy Asian atmosphere. The menu looked good and we ordered passion fruit iced tea which was also really good. We had the “freestyle Zenbi” sushi, and boy it was really satisfying and fulfilling. We ended things with a Molten Lavacake that was the cherry on top. It was small but really delicious. It took them a while to bring it out, but I could understand because all the ingredients are fresh and high quality (pay attention to the wasabi and ginger)

Fast and friendly service in a nice atmosphere. The food was freshly prepared and very tasty. The restaurant is absolutely recommended.

So before the visit I had never tried sushi and to be honest I was a bit reserved. This restaurant taught me better... I don't know how to describe it... taste fireworks... a new passion... overwhelming and inspiring at the same time... I'll be back! So a clear recommendation, even for beginners ;0)))

Even if we mourn the "woodpecker" and the Christmas goose: the sushi was delicious, the service was friendly and we were completely satisfied. Only the Woistubb atmosphere doesn't really fit, but you can get over that.

Very nice and quiet atmosphere. Food is great too! Unfortunately we had to wait almost 70 minutes for our sushi platter.

There were four of us here and we absolutely loved it. The sushi and the other dishes we ordered were delicious, the service was very friendly and the atmosphere was also very nice. I don't understand why this beautiful restaurant was so poorly attended. Maybe it's too hidden or too much competition? In any case, we felt very comfortable and can only warmly recommend it!

Well, value for money leaves a lot to be desired. In Paris I get much better sushi for the same price and feel fuller too. What we got here is more like the "everyday sushi shops" for quick hunger, but here you can expect much cheaper prices. Ordering and preparing the food took forever. Two stars for the beautiful terrace. I have no idea why the restaurant has such a good rating.

I had an amazing dinner at Zenbi yesterday! The sushi was incredibly fresh, with each piece perfectly crafted. The flavors were vibrant, and the presentation was beautiful. The staff was friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. If you're looking for top-notch sushi, this place is a must-visit! I am on my summer Vacation here and was craving some Sushi, and was scared that I wouldn’t find a good Sushi restaurant, but i had one of the best Sushi in Mainz. It was worth it :)

The pho was so salty it was like drinking sea water. Chicken and salmon not cooked through. Never again !

Friendly staff, good food, I would recommend Pho with beef and Sushi here is really fresh, rice in Sushi tastes really nice. Enjoying your summer evening here with a view of the Mainz Cathedral is a significant expericence. I would definitely come back!!!

Don't trust the influencers!!!!Disaster, there were three of us there and sent back half of our order because it wasn't edible: raw, too salty, wrong order...! All three went home with the worst stomach pain. Not recommended!

I love coming here when I visit home especially during summer using the outdoor seating and having a fabulous view onto the cathedral. The service is great and friendly and the food good. I appreciate the large portions and the ingredients are super fresh. It would be amazing to add a vegan curry on the menu in addition to dishes like the rice noodle bowl and sushi. I’m definitely coming back

Chicken with curry sauce and a bomb 🤤

22.50 euro not worth it. Very deceiving. I order a papaya salad with shrimp at 10.50 euros no papaya. And chicken skewer You expect a bowl of salad instead it was a tiny plate of soaking tasteless cabbage & sprout peanut were soaking in this tasteless liquid and of course the 3 shrimps were soaking as well. The quality of the shrimp was not fresh. horrible. 2 other german customers had a huge bowl of salad at 10.50 I expected to received the same thing. This was horrible. Laughing at customer. Big joke I was hungry and tired... Waiter did not come back to check on me until I finish. The chicken skewers were ok for the price the taste was very blend but ok. peanut sauce was ok. Nohing to rave about. The draft beer was not serve in a chill buck. Over all Mainz should stick to german food. All you see is asian restaurant all over Mainz you expect to be good not to get screwed. I waited so long for the sauce I was trying to get your attention regarding the soaking salad but you rather set up table and not be up front to the need of your customers. Even yourself got surprised to see how much liquid was left on that plate. I know what I got I know what I ate and I live half my life in Asia! Stop being rude to your customer and keep your baby plate to yourself.

In the middle of the city, a clear view of the cathedral, somewhat hidden. We received a very friendly welcome and our questions were well explained, great in-house lemonades, great food, and very fair prices for this location. We will be back !!

Everyone who loves shushi must have eaten there at least once. As is well known, the eye is . And it is a feast for the eyes and the palate. Always happy. Price-performance ratio is simply great. It is incredibly tasty, fresh and hygienic. A deserved 10/10. We drove there from Offenbach and it was very worth it.

There are currently a lot of Indo-Chinese-Vietnamese sushi shops sprouting up - newer shops have to offer a little more to stand out. Unfortunately that wasn't the case here. The food is ok, but not special either. The summer rolls consist of 95% iceberg lettuce and rice noodles and a piece of chicken. The wild herb salad described on the menu for my dish consisted of iceberg lettuce, cucumber and a sprig of coriander. Next to it was a large portion of pure rice noodles and I briefly tasted the lime dressing described on the menu on my tongue. I would have expected more in terms of taste and creativity. It's a shame actually...

Very nice atmosphere, in summer you can also sit outside. The service was very good, just as you would expect. The food was very tasty, for me the best sushi in the area. Clear recommendation!

Went there late in the evening and were able to order again as a last round before the kitchen closed. We in the group of 6 ate golden snow, crispy rolls, and curry, as well as dumplings, so everything was good so far. There are "complaints at a high level" when it comes to service and the payment methods can also be improved, but despite this you can come back and eat here again at any time without any worries.

It is a very nice and quiet restaurant in a remote location near Mainz Cathedral. The service is friendly and all the dishes were very tasty. Unfortunately there wasn't the tea we wanted, but the great sushi made up for it.

Food ok, nothing more and nothing less; Portions rather small, Service was poor: when we asked for a second helping of rice, our plates were carried into the kitchen and returned shortly afterwards just as empty. A little later we were delivered two portions of rice on a separate plate - and charged extra. We would have liked to have been informed about the calculation beforehand, as one plate would have been enough... Why is only cash payment possible in 2024? After all, it's no longer a problem even at the bakery.

Very nice service. The food is okay but not outstanding sushi, but the prices are still moderate. The toilets (men's) don't look appealing (ok maybe not a problem) but they smell very unpleasant and don't look clean overall. You just don't want that in a restaurant. Therefore unfortunately only 3 stars.

We have ordered Crunchy Salmon and Shrimps, Avocado Maki, and California roll. They were all delicious, one of the best in Mainz! The staff are also super friendly. Highly recommended!

I have a bad feeling about my visit. I found the staff a bit unfriendly and unfortunately I felt unwelcome. The food was solid but there is still room for improvement. Overall, I expected something better for the price range.

Just crazy. I've been to many sushi restaurants, but this one has surpassed everything before in terms of taste and appearance. If the quality stays that way, then hats off to you.

Very finely balanced delicious food. We had sushi (S1 DRAGON TAIL), which was cleverly prepared and is a real sushi experience. There was also salmon, peanut curry (No. 4) with rice and crunchy fresh vegetables as well as crispy chicken (No. 2 FLASH FIRE) also with vegetables and Thai curry. All dishes were very tasty, prepared quickly and were accompanied by service from the young manager and his extremely friendly wife. It was a great evening, we would love to come back.

The best sushi restaurant in Mainz! The food is incredibly tasty and very attractively prepared and there is also a great selection for vegetarians. The ambience is beautiful and the service is very attentive and friendly. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to discover and enjoy more culinary highlights from the diverse menu!

Were there yesterday for a birthday dinner. My daughter chose this restaurant with my better half and surprised me. The ala carte offering is large and for someone who only knows sushi from the conveyor belt, it's almost overwhelming. What we chose was very, very tasty. Even for non-sushi eaters there were noodle or rice dishes that were very tasty. Even if one wasn't what was ordered. It was so delicious that you didn't waste any thought on the correctness of the dish. There is only one star deducted for the ambience, which looks more like a rustic pub, and the service. The restaurant was far from full, but it took a long time (also to reorder). But you can still recommend “Zenbi”!!

Insanely delicious sushi and the plates are beautifully prepared. The service is great and in a good mood and the atmosphere is very, very pleasant. I've been here three times so far and would like to try the other dishes, but I always get stuck on the sushi because it's just so good. Only cash payment is possible - you may need to know that.

Sehr authentischer asiatischer Laden. Das Sushi war hervorragend und die warmen Speisen frische zubereitet. Leider ist der Laden Montags geschlossen sonst würde ich auch da zur Mittagspause kommen. Kann ich nur weiter empfehlen.

Ich hatte kürzlich das Vergnügen, asiatisches Essen bei zenbi mainz zu genießen, und ich bin restlos begeistert. Die vielfältige Auswahl an Gerichten aus verschiedenen asiatischen Ländern hat mich beeindruckt. Die Qualität der Zutaten war erstklassig, und die Zubereitung zeugte von handwerklichem Können. Besonders hervorzuheben sind die frischen Sushi-Rollen, die regelrecht auf der Zunge zergingen. Die Aromen in den Wok-Gerichten waren ebenso ein Genuss, und die Balance der Gewürze war perfekt getroffen. Der Service war aufmerksam und freundlich, was den Besuch noch angenehmer gestaltete. Das Ambiente des Restaurants war ebenfalls stimmungsvoll, was zu einem rundum gelungenen Erlebnis beitrug. Insgesamt war es ein kulinarisches Abenteuer, das ich jedem empfehlen kann, der asiatisches Essen liebt. Dieses Restaurant ist definitiv eine Bereicherung für die lokale Gastronomieszene.

Delicious food, well presented, and fast service. I strongly recommend the salmon tartar. Unique. The place is super close to the main church and it has in and outside tables.

Das Essen war einfach der Hammer. Oft Sushi gegessen, aber selten soo gut! Auch das Lachstatar ist nur zu empfehlen.

Das Essen war gut. Preise normal. Dass man allerdings in der heutigen Zeit nicht mit Karte zahlen kann ist nicht zeitgemäß.

Total schönes Restaurant genau beim Dom sowie im Aussenbereich mit sehr schönen Weinreben in denen Glühlampen hängten verziert. Ambiente war wirklich sehr schön und das Essen war nur noch besser. 1-2 Sachen haben auf der Karte nicht gestimmt bzw waren nicht mehr verfügbar, aber dass Essen und der Service waren echt top. Alle Bedingungen waren wirklich sehr freundlich und das Essen war wirklich toll. Von Vorspeisen über Sushi und Nachspeise hat uns 6 Personen alles sehr gut geschmeckt. Wir kommen sicherlich wieder dahin!

Long story short: unser neuer Anlaufpunkt zum Sushi essen in Mainz. Klasse, macht weiter so! :-)

Das Essen war ganz lecker, aber das Personal leider total unfreundlich.

Wir sind zufällig auf den neuen Sushi Laden im ehemaligen Weinhaus Specht gestoßen, da wir uns den Umbrella Sky in der Rotekopfgasse anschauen wollten. Fazit: BINGO! Tollstes Sushi, leckere hausgemachte Getränke, aufmerksame Bedienung, schönes Ambiente unter den Weinreben. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder und empfehlen Zembi sehr gerne weiter!

Sushi was not taste and there was too much souce on it. Lillet wild Berry was too diluted and instead of berries there was cherry, which was not really fitting.

Wir wollten zu meinem Geburtstag mal wieder gutes Sushi essen. Was soll ich sagen, wir wurden nicht enttäuscht, sondern waren überwältigt. Es war eines der besten, wenn nicht das beste Sushi was ich in Deutschland bisher je bekommen habe. Volle fünf Sterne für die Küche und den Service. Wir waren nicht das letzte Mal dort.
