Wirtshaus Zur Glocke in Trier

We relied on some reviews, but it was only later that I discovered that the reviews were already 4 years old. I thought it was an authentic German restaurant. That must be good, but the experience is not very good. Firstly, there was no longer any authentic German. I think the restaurant has been taken over by others who do not know German cuisine. There were only people from probably India / the Far East. Unfortunately the food was also as I suspected, not what a real schnitzel should be. The fries themselves were not cooked properly and were thick. Normally you get thin fries with the schnitzel. It was not as I had hoped, a shame for such a beautiful restaurant.

Historic restaurant in the city center. Very friendly staff. Enjoy your meal. Unfortunately we were there around 5 p.m. and could only choose from the small menu.

Sat down to order at 2:45. After a few questions 2 people had ordered and then the server says it's 3:00 pm and it's a different menu. New menu had about 4 items. Two people could only choose from that. Took over 30 minutes to get the food and the onion soup was so salt one person couldn't eat it.

The horse meatballs are really good.

We got a huge table only for us, this was a good thing since our kids are always playful and need space. The waiters were cordial, the waiting time wasn't long and I loved the atmosphere. The serving of the goulash soup that I ordered was huge (am still full 2hrs later!)

Good German cuisine in a cozy atmosphere with good service, what more could you want. Of course it takes a little longer when it's full, but it didn't bother us. We would be happy to come back when the opportunity arises

We had lunch here and had no problems getting a seat. We ordered schnitzel with fried eggs and onion soup with a salad. Everything tasted really delicious and was beautifully presented. A rustic inn that fully met our expectations. The employees were very nice and brought our daughter extra children's cutlery and a robber's plate without asking. That was very thoughtful. Prices were very reasonable and I would definitely recommend this inn.

Very good, table reservation worked well, food was great ((selection was also good), service impeccable. Cozy place. What more could you want.

We went there without a reservation and the nice waitress showed us to the last available table, so a reservation would be appropriate. The service was very nice, the food was really tasty. Two main courses with a drink each for under €60, you can't complain about that either. We would visit the restaurant again.

Wir hatten einen Tisch für 14 Personen im Gewölbekeller reserviert und waren vom Ambiente begeistert. Sehr freundlicher Empfang. Umfangreiche Karte mit zivilern Preisen. Etwas schmalbrüstige Weinkarte von lokalen Winzern, aber einwandfreie Weine. Sehr freundliche und persönliche Bedienung. Etwas Zeit muß man allerdings mitbringen - keine Schnelküche aber > 1 Std. Wartezeit bereits zu Beginn (18:00)? An den Speisen war absolut nichts auszusetzen, alles nett dekoriert und auf den Punkt zubereitet. Das mitten in Fußgängerzone gelegene Hotel-Restaurant ist wärmstens zu emfehlen.

Im Wirtshaus war kein Platz frei,dann wurden wir in die Gaststätte des Hotels gebeten: ein urigen und gemütlich eingerichteter Raum mit weißen Wänden, Bruchsteinwand, Holzbalken an der Decke, Kissen, ansprechende Deko und Bilder. Das Essen: sooo lecker! Schnitzel mit Pfifferlingrahmsauce und Pommes sowie Hähnchenbrust mit Pfifferling-Rotwein-Sauce und Stampf. Unsere Teller waren leer und wir kochen selbst sehr gern, was den Anspruch an die Gastronomie hoch sein lässt. Wir waren begeistert. Die Preise sind gut 👍 Die Bedienung war aufmerksam und freundlich. Rundrum absolut empfehlenswert.

We had dinner with 11 people. After receiving the starter we had to wait more than an hour for the main course. Half of the main courses were cold. Service staff was overwhelmed. Our complaints were not responded to.

Closed on Sunday evening!!! It doesn't exist.....

The place is beautiful but the best thing was the kindness of all the staff who served us, especially a girl who detected that we were Spanish and we were struggling to express ourselves in our bad German and, not only did she switch to Spanish, but she made suggestions and managed to make us feel super good. This place is an institution in Trier. We came here for lunch and sat outside. The menu is nice and includes some dishes with seasonal ingredients - in early September that was chanterelle mushrooms. We will definitely be back!

I don't think it's a good thing if you order a table outside and don't get it, we were told there was a lack of staff even though there were people sitting outside. Overall, the food is good there and the price is okay. Staff could be a little nicer.

Qualità dozzinale per una cena da dimenticare. Schnizzel fritta in maniera approssimativa, Cordon bleau comprato in qualche supermercato e un piatto a base di verdure cotte mediocre. Tutto a costi over size! Non capisco davvero gli italiani che ne hanno scritto bene. Mah. Servizio discutibile. Inizialmente il ragazzo che ci ha serviti probabilmente non aveva proprio idea del proprio lavoro. L'altro che è intervenuto dopo molto gentile. Due pietose stelle bastano e avanzano.

Un endroit très bien pour une pause réconfortante. La cuisine typique est bonne, servie généreusement, comme on sait le faire dans cette région d'Allemagne. Le service est avenant et les prix tout à fait conformes. Une belle carte aux heures des repas et il y a un service dans l'après-midi avec une carte plus réduite.

My wife and I both ordered the pork schnitzel with mushroom cream sauce. This is served with a mixed salad, German style, so good. The schnitzels, two medium sized ones each with a nice portion of Pommes, were more than enough to give us a very satisfied feeling. Excellent food for an attractive price, friendly staff. Definitely recommended. 👌

The selection of food is very good, something for everyone. The drinks menu is also very large and has something for everyone. We would definitely like to come back

Delicious Schnitzels and cordon bleu with veal. The accompaniments (salads, sautéed potatoes and fries) were also very fresh and generous. Our waitress was very cheerful and attentive throughout the meal. She spoke French. The map was also available in French. Very practical!

Whore could eat deliciously, due to the crowds there was only room in the breakfast room. This meant we had a nice and quiet seat and the atmosphere was great, but the most important thing is the food, which tasted delicious. We will definitely come back again

Good food in general but please change the mix grill plate, this is very little food for the price of 25 euros , only three small pieces of meat , very disappointing. The rest of the things we ordered were very good !

Top renovated Oldscool inn in the truest sense of the word. Courteous, friendly and communicative service. Food and drink selection according to the standards of the house. We felt welcome and well looked after. Recommended.

Well on my second attempt at German food i had horse…not a local delicacy but i had to try it…taste like steak, not chicken …. My waitress was excellent..woman behind bar very reluctantly told me where the toilet was. Of my two German experience i prefer the first, but not my much. Mainly for the choice

Wir waren mit einer großen Gruppe dort. Das Lokal war sehr gut besucht. Wir wurden vom Kellner nett bedient. Die Speisenkarte bot eine breite Auswahl von der Pferdefrikadelle über Pfifferlinge bis zum Cordon Bleu. Das Essen schmeckte gut. Lediglich das Preis Leistungsverhältnis von der Käseplatte sollte mal überprüft werden. Das hat uns nicht so gefallen. Alles in allem ein guter Besuch

Unfortunately the worst Wienerschnitzel ever. Some of the meat wasn't cooked through and it was extremely fatty. Eat something else

Quaint inn with very good service and delicious food. As a starter we had Schmalzschmeer (farmer's bread with greaves), as our main course we had butter-tender Berlin-style liver, with the tasty Kraft Bräu beer. We were completely satisfied.

We were able to spontaneously get a table in the vaulted cellar and were overwhelmed by the ambience. The decor of the inn is very harmonious and we liked it. In addition, the service staff was very friendly, courteous and helpful. The selection of dishes is very large and there is also something for vegetarians. There was also the opportunity to convert a few dishes into vegan 😊👍🏻 The food was delicious, but it didn't completely blow our minds. Nevertheless, it is definitely worth a visit! We really enjoyed the stay 😊

Old inn on the ground floor, very beautiful vaulted cellar lit with candles in the basement. Typical Trier food. Went there with a larger group and everyone really enjoyed the individual food.

Top location as they say today. Very nice service, great team, you can tell that fun and happy guests are the priority! It looks small from the outside, but... 3 dining rooms, plus a really fantastic wine cellar that also counts as a guest room. Everything modern with an old touch... Mixture between harbor pub and bar with modern approaches. The food came quickly and was exactly as ordered! Top kitchen, I thanked you again in this regard. If you like traditional cuisine and are hungry, you're in good hands there!!!! There are also fewer outside seats. The good reviews are completely justified!!! Keep it up, we were happy to have been their guest. P.S. the waffles are really worth every euro!!!

Very good food and a fantastic waiter.

Unfortunately it no longer has anything to do with the original restaurant. The onion soup “a la Jupp” now costs almost €9. And then you have to hear from the waitress that the other guests only take it as a starter. Maybe ok for tourists, otherwise not better.

Our reservation was accidentally given away but they made room for us in the cellar where they were having a private party. The ambiance was amazing and the food was equally impressive. The staff made sure that we weren't overlooked in catering for the large group.

You can sit inside and outside in the bell. The staff is attentive and very friendly. The menu offers a nice selection and, as an unusual highlight, dishes made from horse meat. So e.g. E.g. horse meatballs or a horse steak. I made do with a dessert, the Viezpudding. This is a pudding made from apple cider and apple pieces. A new delicious taste experience for me.

Not convincing in terms of the quality of the food (lunch). The soup of the day was completely over salted, the Maultaschen in it was almost inedible, and the broth tasted like instant. The chive bean soup appeared to be watered down. The portion sizes were decent (so it's ok if you're full, but if you value taste, then it's better to have it smaller but tasty). Service was ok. Ambience too dim and old-fashioned for me (restaurant seating like back in the 70s).

Enjoy typical and homemade food in Trier? Then you should stop here. In a rustic and cozy atmosphere, with a waiter with quick sayings on his lips, you can spend a wonderful evening here. The service team is quick and so is the kitchen. Price/performance match. I can recommend it with a clear conscience. Thanks to the entire team.

This is how you imagine spending the night in an old town in style. 10 out of 10 points would be awarded

Wij hadden de eerste twee keer een redelijke ervaring. Ons derde bezoek werd echter een culinaire ramp. We bestelden een aperitief, dat kwam pas nadat de borden met eten al op tafel stonden. De zogenaamde Bratkartoffelen waren naturel, veel te licht aangebakken en nadien bestrooit met een paar droog gebakken uitjes uit de supermarkt. Het spek (een standaard ingrediënt) ontbrak totaal. De saus bij het vlees kwam overduidelijk uit de fabriek! En dat was nog niet alles. De salade bestond hoofdzakelijk uit taaie sperziebonen waarover het overgebleven sap van een potje kappertjes was uitgegoten. Ik heb letterlijk een knoop in een sperzieboon (in het Duits heten ze Brechbohnen) kunnen leggen, zonder dat deze brak. Ik verdenk de keuken er van dat ze ooit waren overgebleven en daarna ingevroren. Op onze klachten kwam het volgende commentaar uit de keuken: ,,Kom morgen maar zelf koken.”

We had a fantastic waitress, Katarina who was very welcoming chatty and helpful. Soups were good. German dishes were traditional and fine but avoid the bread dumplings if I were you! Overall a good time made better by the waitress! The wine selection is good.
