Amazing little place in the heart of Stuttgart West.

We were there with our baby, and eating with a baby was a bit of a challenge. The server took the baby for a while (because it wasn't very busy) and looked after him wonderfully, even giving him a tour of the restaurant, so we could eat and chat in peace. That was fantastic!

Unfortunately, we were disappointed. We had a reservation for 20 people (for a birthday), and the first question we received when we sat down was whether 20 people were actually coming. I can't recommend the Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle); there was hardly any cheese, the taste was rather bland, and the portion was quite small. The side salad, however, was fresh, crisp, and had a good dressing. Our server today seemed rather unenthusiastic and not very attentive. However, the drinks and food arrived promptly throughout. The tables were almost never cleared automatically, and the salt and pepper shakers and dessert were forgotten, but these things happen. The men's restrooms smelled very strong; we had the same problem a few weeks ago.

The ambiance is very rustic (which I like) and the decor fits the name. Unfortunately, that's about all the positive things we can report. The service from the waiter who was "on duty" there on Friday evening (October 24, 2025) was abysmal... for example, he brought us drinks twice, placed them on the table, and then simply THROW the beer mats/coasters onto the table—yes, threw them, we were truly stunned... although in the smoking area, you're not even asked if you'd like anything else or to order. There was no mayo or ketchup with the fries, and you couldn't season them (there was certainly no salt on them), so everything was really dry—unfortunately. The spaetzle only came with a dab of sauce, even though we're told beforehand that we're in Swabia, where sauce is part of everything, but it wasn't nearly enough for even half the spaetzle, let alone the schnitzel, which is a real shame. Regarding the roast beef on the robber's plate, all we can say is that it was still half-raw. Normally, if you don't ask for the doneness, it's served medium, but that wasn't the case in our case, and we sent it back. It's a real shame; we went there on a recommendation, and it was really disappointing. Oh, and no one came to pay. You had to ask for it and then go to the counter, where we were standing in the middle of the way, and everyone tried to walk past, be it the service staff or other guests, which was also very unpleasant.

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. There were four of us there, and immediately after arriving, we had to wait about eight minutes before being asked for drinks, even though there were only three serving and four tables occupied. The ambiance matches the name, hence the 4 stars. The food wasn't up to scratch. I had the Hotzenplotz Special: roast beef partially rare and pink; fried onions cold. When ordering, I asked if they served it with sauce, and the immediate response was, "We're Swabians!", so I assumed there would be enough sauce. It was just a smear! A colleague ordered schnitzel with spaetzle, but again, there was too little sauce, so the remaining spaetzle would have had to be eaten dry. Of course, it was thrown away. We won't be going back, and I can't recommend it to anyone. Since we were all smokers, we went to the next room, the "smoking area," after dinner; but there's no point waiting for service there. We placed our order on the way to the restroom because no one cares about these guests.

Young crowd, it's lively here 👍. The food was also good, and the service was super friendly and quick despite the place being full.

Service was friendly, courteous, and attentive! The salad was fresh and crisp, and the dressing was good! The Maultaschen soup was also absolutely delicious! Whenever I'm in Stuttgart for business, I always come here – I've never been disappointed!

I used to always look forward to eating good, cheap food here after school, but after the change of ownership, the prices have increased dramatically, for example, ketchup with fries costs €2, and the food has deteriorated, for example, slimy spaetzle overcooked without salt, which used to be a hit. What a shame!

A really cool place. The bartender recommended his creation from his last trip to Mexico for a wedding. Absolutely amazing 🧨 The food looks amazing too. Great dishes, Swabian cuisine, outdoor seating in the summer, and all the football games are broadcast. Definitely a recommendation in the West 👌

If you like more rustic pubs, the Hotzenplotz is perfectly fine. Unfortunately, the food didn't really impress me.

Hotz has changed. The food used to be good value for money. Today, it's very average. Service is sometimes a bit slow. Today's spaetzle is very watery and tasteless. It's great for drinking, but it's okay for eating. The tarte flambée was good, though, and different :)

Let me put it this way: The food was quite good – but the service was absolutely atrocious. The starter arrived at the same time as the main course, there was only one fork for two people (!), and the drinks were simply forgotten, so I had to go inside to get them myself. I didn't get a bill at first, and when I asked for a receipt, they said, "I don't have any more." Two waiters were on duty, both completely overwhelmed, unfriendly, and lacking any sense of service, as far as I can tell since I saw them very little. I've never experienced anything like it – rudeness from start to finish. Maybe I'll apply for a job as a supporter – it couldn't get any worse.

Great food in a local place. Popular with locals and plenty of seatings indoors and outdoors. You probably need to reserve in a group of 3 or more. For us, two persons, it was easy to get a table.

First, my drink was forgotten, and then, unfortunately, my food went under, so all the tables that came after me got their food before me. Nevertheless, the food was delicious, and the two servers were quite pleasant, despite their forgetfulness! Hence, unfortunately, only 3 stars.

I was here for the first time today, and I found it really relaxing. The veggie burger was really tasty, and the waiters were friendly and quick :) It won't be my last visit.

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. We arrived shortly after 7 p.m., there were still several free tables, and we waited over an hour for the food for two dishes. After I asked, I was told it would be right away (20 minutes later). If they forgot to bring the food, it would be less of a problem! The cheese spaetzle was just greasy, no real cheese, no strings, and no melted onions as mentioned in one review! The schnitzel wasn't even served with salad for that price! Unfortunately, it's not what it used to be.

Unfortunately, this was my first time at the former top-notch restaurant... I've been told a lot of good things about it... During my visit, I noticed that the new tenant has been here for a few weeks. 👆🏼 The food wasn't the highlight I'd been told it would be. The onions on my rump steak were forgotten, then simply put on and served with the herb butter that had melted in the butter. My wife had roast beef with onions, which didn't taste great, swimming in the sauce with ready-made spaetzle... from a bag. The beer was served warm. When we pointed out that the food wasn't tasty, and the beer was warm, no one cared; it was ignored. 😵🧐 Can't recommend this place... Price and performance aren't on par here... It's a shame, it must have been great here back then. 👍🏼 The outside area is nice. The burger from Junior was okay.

I've found the food really disappointing lately. The cheese spaetzle tastes really bland, and the Texas burger has so much BBQ sauce that you can't taste anything else. Thankfully, the service is still top-notch 👍

For the second time, really bad service... Today, over 10 minutes after ordering, I received the message that there were problems with the machine... asked if I wanted something else, said no, thanks, then I'll go... Answer: then they'll just go... no words.

I've been a guest at Hotz for 25 years. Everything has always been delicious and the value for money is great. Now it's changed hands, including the chef. Unfortunately, it's not as tasty anymore, especially the great salad dressing is gone. The salad wasn't as lovingly prepared either. It was disappointing. The only thing that was great was the service, friendly, and attentive.

The food was bad in my opinion. I had schnitzel and fries. Ready-made schnitzel had absolutely no flavor. They take it easy here.

Finally, a healthier menu. There are now fresher and more varied dishes, with one vegetarian or vegan option each week. I always look forward to freshly fried Twister Fries, but the mushroom cream tastes more natural, the dressing no longer tastes like it's from a packet, and overall, it's simply a great new take on the menu that doesn't remind you of fast food, but feels good to eat and doesn't leave you with an oily stomach. I was really pleasantly surprised when I spontaneously stumbled into the Räuberhöhle after work. I'll be back and can only recommend it.

Very good food. But it's a real shame that they're no longer open all day for lunch. It used to be better. Unfortunately, I can't make it past with my colleagues during my lunch break anymore.

Unfortunately we didn't have such a good experience there. Only one of the waiters was really friendly and helpful. The location is quaint and cozy and in summer there are also a few tables outside. The food wasn't convincing either. Unfortunately, all the meat components on the grill plate were either cold or just warmed up again. I claim none of it was freshly prepared. After complaining, we got 3 warmer cevapcici, but they weren't hot either. The robber pan was fine. Unfortunately not a great experience and probably won't go there again.

The Räuberpfännle tastes super delicious! The location is quaint but still totally hip!! Very nice staff & good service, I really enjoy coming here & I'm super satisfied every time.

Atmosphere great, food super tasty. Price performance is right. Really satisfied. When we are back in Stuttgart we will definitely be back.

Absolute recommendation. The cheese pätzle are now even more brilliant and with the melted onions definitely 5☆ the salad goes perfectly with it and your service is super attentive, I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

A few days ago we reserved a table by phone for 1 p.m. today. When we arrived we found ourselves in front of closed doors and there was no indication on the homepage under NEWS that it wasn't open. A callback would have been fair. Something like that doesn't work at all

Prices too high for the poor service. Music is way too loud in both the smoker and the non-smoker! Even after repeated requests from various guests at the service, the music didn't get quieter. The highlight, however, was that some very young guests apparently had access to the volume and music via a cell phone.

Foremost, the service here is excellent. I specifically want to call out Yannic for managing a whole herd of tables like a champ. There's a nice vibe here overall. As the American simpleton that I am, I had the cheeseburger, fries, and a Pepsi. But before that, Yannic brought me a local pilsner that he recommended. It was excellent. I ended the evening with the chocolate souffle. It reminds me of the lava cake that we have in the US, filled with oozing chocolate. You will want to get one for yourself. Trust me.

Relaxed and nice pub in the west of Stuttgart. With a separate smoking area. Bundesliga games are broadcast and the food is also good. Highly recommended!

Was and remains one of our favorite places to eat in Stuttgart! Everyone was super nice, including the new owner We were looking for a way to quickly get a place to grab something to eat despite the store being full and reservations. They are very hospitable. The food is always very tasty too.

Highly recommended! Rustic inn with Swabian and international down-to-earth cuisine, very attentive and quick staff. Separate smoking area. There was also football for non-smokers! Gladly again.

New tenant, new beginning. Unfortunately the experience was a mess and the new employees were very rude. So hospitality is at zero and the new tenant makes a very arrogant impression towards guests. Gastronomy is very stressful, that's for sure!! but you should be professional and not show that to the guests! Price performance ratio is not the same. Especially the student menu has higher prices and fewer portions, which is embarrassing! The poor children!

Went out to eat spontaneously. Everything was fine. We still spontaneously got a seat after 7 p.m. Drinks and food came very quickly. Service was apparently on its own but had everything well under control. The food was the medallions of pork in bacon with cheese spetzle. Good large portion. Tastes very good. Anyone who likes something a little more civil is in good hands here.

We went there spontaneously and thought it was great. A quaint restaurant with very good cuisine. Even the starter salads were really tasty. The main courses were plentiful, homemade and delicious. Especially the spaetzle. A real insider tip for us.

Super cosy german/swabian style place. Food portions are quite big and delicious. I recommend the Räuberpfännle and some beers from the Keg. Prices are super affordable as well and staff are friendly.

Unfortunately, the food didn't taste good, it seemed to be partly made up of ready meals, and one of the six of us got sick the next night, PROBABLY from the burger. Our complaint this morning was met with the succinct "It can't be! And it's never happened to us before!" acknowledged. We advise caution and will not be returning.

A cozy get-together with friends, preferably in a small beer garden. Nice service, very good food and Cluss beer. The service is amazing, always prompt and friendly! Paying with an EC card has also been possible for some time. Everything is still fine. October 30, 2024: Change of ownership - but so far everything is as good as ever.

Very good local food served in large portions. Only the fries are very salty, so I recommend taking unsalted ones :)

We were looking forward to Swabian cuisine and were unfortunately disappointed. Spaetzle and sauce were definitely finished products and the meat was not freshly prepared and only warmed up. It was edible but I don't want to spend money on this quality. The service was friendly but not very attentive and was more engrossed in private conversations. All in all, not a successful visit.

Service was very friendly and attentive, but the food was terrible. I have rarely seen so many frozen/convenience products at one meal. - Salad tastes like it was dropped into a bouillon cube for potato salad, something must be wrong - The "Gyros" is not from the skewer but goes into the pan as indefinable pieces of meat, marinated - Tzatziki tastes almost like nothing and the olives that came with it were definitely no longer edible (mushy and tasted like cheese) - With the pork fillet you have to feel sorry for the pig, the meat was a completely dead fried shoe sole (fillet again!) and when you cut it it was gray on the inside and very definitely a frozen product in terms of consistency - The cheese spaetzle under the pig was colored red?! and the cream sauce tasted old and was actually burned into the pan and absorbed, as if the food had not been freshly made but had been sitting in the passport for a longer time. Here even the spaetzle is not homemade but also purchased. All in all, a feast of poorly overcooked finished products, no love for the product and the chef must really hate his job to deliver a meal like this. Everyone can do this better at home and at a significantly better price-performance ratio. Unfortunately that wasn't the case today and we will definitely never come back

Tasty and cheaper than other restaurants in Stuttgart. Service was nice, food was great and the atmosphere was good. Parking spaces available right in front of the door, not a given in Stuttgart. Taycan can be charged at the door
