Good food and nice beer garden.

Great atmosphere. Friendly, attentive service. Quite expensive, though. The quality of the food is okay—but nothing more. The value for money isn't quite there.

Actually, the whole food is really really good and the drinks are also just that you now have a new oven, you don't have to pay the same price for the tarte flambée as before and then even smaller portions and the fact that you now make the dough yourself is a big reason.

After visiting a trade fair, we spontaneously had dinner at Wirtshaus Garbe. We got a nice seat without making a reservation, the food was very good and the staff were very nice and attentive. Highly recommended.

Always very tasty. Definitely recommended and in summer there is a great beer garden. Above all, the directly adjacent park makes the location even more attractive.

Nice beer garden. BUT the prices are completely exorbitant. 11€ for the portion of fries! The salad as a main course €15, without bread. That comes with an additional €2. If you take the salad version with chicken (100g), you pay another €10 more. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio isn't right at all, even if the food is good.

They always willing to help. I wasn't even a guest (yet) and they made me breakfast at a moment that the kitchen would normally be closed. That's how you recognize great service.

I was an overnight guest and can only report about the breakfast. I tried telephonically many times and couldn't reach anyone.

We ate in the Garbe with a group of 15 people. We were completely satisfied, very friendly service, the food tasted very good and we didn't have to wait long for our food. The atmosphere in the Garbe is very nice. There was just a slight tug at some of our seats at the table.

We absolutely love the Garbe restaurant! The food is amazing! The seasonal food and drink offerings are wonderful. If you want truly excellent service, ask for Robert as your server. He is fantastic!

This is not a hotel review because we only visited the restaurant. Before going to see a musical, we made a reservation at the restaurant for lunch, as it only takes 5-10 minutes to get to the SI Center (the subway is actually right around the corner). The food wasn't the cheapest, but it was delicious and not standard either. Both dishes (fish with asparagus and potatoes and the Garbeschnitzel with unusual side dishes) were flawless. The service was also great. Highly recommended for a trip to the - for us sophisticated - Swabian cuisine!!

After I was no longer in the area for many years after my Dr. celebration held at the Garbe, I now and again visited the Garbe for a quick dinner on business trips. Everything is wonderful and the staff is extremely lovely.

Great, modern cuisine, delicious local wine and very friendly and professional service. Heart, what more do you want? And they also have Augustiner beer. Perfect. We didn't like the appearance of the street sales in the large beer garden. Both when it came to the kiosk itself: everything around the fancy grills seemed very untidy, as did the matching appearance of the grill master, who, among other things, could really use clean pants.

Had a wonderful authentic German dinner with visiting friends. Restaurant is pleasant and appealing. Food was tasty and timely. Beer was excellent. Waitress was attentive and friendly. Great location on the edge of University of Hoehenheim. It filled up on a Wednesday evening: so I advise you book a table. Their outdoor beer garden will open in May. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Wonderful outdoor area with very good kitchen..

We had reserved a table and unfortunately got a not so great table, some of which was in front of the kitchen entrance. Although there were other tables available. The staff and service were very friendly and accommodating. I find the food selection a bit difficult to get used to, there are many dishes with somewhat unusual side dishes/ingredients. For example, there is a schnitzel, but with Brussels sprouts and horseradish, some people think that's great and maybe like that, but unfortunately we don't. Unfortunately there are no French fries in the sheaf. We didn't find it easy to find something delicious on the menu that didn't contain anything we didn't want. The choice then fell on the onion roast and the cheese pätzle. The onion roast was fried medium well, the meat was tender enough, the sauce was very good but a little too little, the fried potatoes were good but also a bit manageable. 35€ for this is a proud price. Unfortunately, the cheese spaetzle (€22) had a sweet topping on it, which wasn't that tasty for our taste, and I also didn't like the cheese spaetzle itself, I found it a bit too dry. Unfortunately the pistachio ice cream was out. Unfortunately, the Aperol Spritz (€8.60) wasn't sweet enough for me, so there wasn't enough Aperol in it, but that's almost always the case with Spritz in Germany, in Italy it's always sweet enough for me. All in all, we still thought it was good, but we think the prices are too high. The ambience in the interior is nice and cozy.

Only for food, so no stars for rooms. Food, menu (selection) and service excellent. Prices too, but they're worth it :-)

Unfortunately, the outside catering was not convincing. You definitely have to have a lot of time and patience .... at first we were treated like air, after a while we had a table - it took a while until we had a card .... drinks, yes, came sometimes and we had to wait another 30 minutes for 2 salads. With a bill of €41 for 2 small salads, 4-5 slices of bread, a small juice spritzer and a non-alcoholic beer, the restaurant does relatively well with 3 stars.

I just walked past it, but the windows on the sidewalk are deep enough to give you a good view of guests and plates. So it's worth paying attention to your wardrobe.

Ideal location if like me, as a tourist, you want to try traditional German cuisine. The location is very nice and characteristic, the staff is kind and there is a good variety of typical dishes such as: soups, meats, fish, various side dishes, spätzle and also a sort of very thin "white pizza", stuffed in various ways and truly particular but tasty. Very cute!

Normally I don't like writing reviews, but the food was so bad that I wanted to say something. Service was quick, just didn't care about my complaint. The salad was good but the main course, the ravioli, was so bad. The ravioli were swimming in a watery soup with raw peas and the ravioli had hardly any filling and tasted of nothing. I don't know how you can charge 20 euros for it when canned ravioli from the supermarket is way better. One thing I know, I'll never go there again.

Käsespätzle were okay, but far too expensive at €21.90. The quality didn't justify the price. Unfortunately, service was very unmotivated and the boss had to ask us to be more active, which is why we waited a long time for food and drinks.

My stay was very uncomplicated. The best place for a trip to the University of Hohenheim - I've been there several times. The owners were very accommodating even if I made an oversight when booking. I'd love to come back any time!

Very cozy Swabian restaurant with very good service, accommodating behavior and excellent food

We were there for dinner with 8 people on Sunday and were very satisfied with both the food and the service.

One of the best Swabian restaurants in Stuttgart. The cuisine is excellent and in the upper price segment. In summer there is a beer garden outside, which invites you to linger directly opposite the botanical garden. A very nice atmosphere arises in the evening under the trees with the garlands. Augustiner beer is also served here in ice-cold steins, which in itself would have earned an extra point (see picture 3). Addendum: The outdoor area is very pleasant, even when the weather is good in winter.

Wir haben im Biergarten 2x Käsewurst und Rindswurst vom Grill bestellt. Die Wurste waren ungenießbar. Die Brötchen dazu waren wirklich gut. Das ganze mi 2 Bier 0,33 hat 26,50 € gekostet. Nicht empfehlenswert!

Everything was great. The reservation went smoothly, there were eleven of us there and everyone enjoyed the food. The service was also very good. Thank you very much, gladly again!

Delicious veal schnitzel with really good fried potatoes

I used to enjoy going to beer gardens, but the price increases since the coronavirus pandemic are simply outrageous. Dinnettes simply cut their prices in half and weren't even above serving them on the old (now halved) wooden boards at the same price as before. The food is okay, but looks significantly better than it tastes. There's much better food available, even downtown, and at better prices. In any case, the owner is clearly overcharging! Because the weather was so nice recently, we went back. A large shandy and a small non-alcoholic beer for €11. That's just too expensive for me. Unfortunately, there are hardly any alternatives nearby.

Friendly and timely contacts in advance for table reservations for 10 people. Dinner then at a beautiful, long table with enough space for the 10 people in the next room. Great, very attentive and really friendly service team that evening, which was only surpassed by the absolutely delicious and beautifully presented food. Thank you very much for that and I'd love to come back!

Selten so schlecht gegessen ! Die Linsen waren steinhart - somit ungenießbar ! Die als Ersatz bestellten Kässpätzle wurden dann berechnet obwohl 5 € teurer. Diese waren mit Karotten und Essig - kein schwäbisches Essen. Der nach Beschwerde servierte Kaffee wurde dann auch berechnet - eine Frechheit! Nie wieder !!!

Absolutely not recommended. Service was abysmal; I waited over an hour for my drink. The food I ordered (fondue) was also unsatisfactory.

I organized a dinner with some friends and they were so accommodating! The service was spectacular and we all felt well taken care of. And the food was incredible! The beef melts in the mouth, and if you order bread, it comes with housemade butter. A truly wonderful experience and I will be coming back.

Tja, eigentlich schön. Ein toller Biergarten und gutes Essen, schöne Weinauswahl von regionalen Winzern. Es wird permanent teurer und das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis passt nicht mehr so ganz. Der (wohl) studentische Service ist sehr bemüht aber überfordert. Mir wurde der falsche Wein serviert (kein Problem) aber danach wurde mit mir gestritten, dass ich doch den richtigen bekommen hätte. Von daher, wir gehen eigentlich gerne hin…. aber nicht mehr so gerne wie früher.

Wir waren an meinem gestrigen Geburtstag essen. Das Essen war hervorragend, Preis und Qualität stimmten weitestgehend überein. Das Schokolküchlein zum Nachtisch war sehr lecker, 15€ dafür jedoch maßlos überstrieben. Leider hat mich die Atmosphäre gestört, ich hatte mir ein schönes gemütliches Abendessen mit meiner Familie vorgestellt. Wir saßen im Nebenzimmer, es war es leider proppenvoll und sehr laut. In diesem kleinen Raum waren ca. 25-30 Leute mit Kindern platziert, ca. 20 an einer großen Tafel. Die Tische standen dicht an dicht, ich musste mich für den Gang zu Toilette durchquetschen und darauf achten, dass ich nicht das Glas den Dame am Tisch nebenan umstieß. Die Lautstärke hat mich sehr gestört. Der Service war mittelmäßig, anfangs schien die Bedienung durch die große Gesellschaft gestresst, gegen Ende, als diese Gesellschaft dann weg war, wurde es besser. Die Wartezeit aufs Essen betrug für die Vorspeise (2 mal Carpacchio und ein kleiner Salat) 45 Minuten. Bis der Hauptgang kam, dauerte es nochmal 50 Minuten. Das ist unschön. Bei meinem nächsten Geburtstag werden wir ein anderes Lokal wählen. Schade!

We went out to eat yesterday for my birthday. The food was excellent, and the price and quality were largely consistent. The chocolate cake for dessert was very tasty, but €15 for it was way overpriced. Unfortunately, the atmosphere bothered me; I had imagined a nice, cozy dinner with my family. We sat in the adjoining room, which was unfortunately packed and very loud. There were about 25-30 people with children in this small space, about 20 at a large table. The tables were so close together, I had to squeeze through to use the restroom and be careful not to knock over the glass of the woman at the next table. The noise level bothered me a lot. The service was mediocre; at first, the waitress seemed stressed by the large group, but towards the end, once the group had left, things improved. The wait for the food for the appetizer (2 carpaccios and a small salad) was 45 minutes. It took another 50 minutes for the main course to arrive. That's not nice. For my next birthday or other occasions, we'll look for another restaurant. What a shame!

We had a very nice evening during our visit to the Garbe. The inn offers upscale, home-style/Swabian cuisine. The quality and taste of the food was TOP, and the atmosphere was inviting and cozy. The employees were also consistently courteous and friendly. We just felt very comfortable. What I personally would find more suitable for the upscale atmosphere would be cloth napkins instead of paper napkins. Conclusion: Gladly again.

I have not stayed there, I only had dinner in the restaurant. The service was very good, but the food was too standard for the high prices. I ordered Käsespätzle which had onion and carrot. It's not that it was bad, but I must say that in most places in Stuttgart they serve it with more cheese and less oil.

Unfortunately our visit to this restaurant was disappointing. The service was friendly and helpful, but that alone cannot compensate for the shortcomings. The prices are disproportionate to the food - we would have expected much more for what was served. It's a shame, a lot more could be done here with better management.

I had organized a "regulars' table" with over 30 people who all wanted to eat a la carte. That was certainly a challenge for the kitchen and service, but it worked out great - thanks to Christel and her colleagues!! The quality of the food was great, but the portions were too big for many of us... Maybe that's why the prices are on the higher side! We will definitely come back!!

I was there on January 25th. Eating with a colleague at this restaurant around 8:30 p.m. The atmosphere is pleasant and there is good parking nearby. Unfortunately, both the waiting time and the quality of the food were disappointing. I ordered an onion roast with spaetzle for €34.90. After about 40 minutes the food was served - an unpleasantly long wait for an underutilized, rather small restaurant. About the food itself: The sauce and the spaetzle tasted good, but the meat was extremely tough and practically inedible. I also found the portion to be smaller than average for the slightly above-average price. If the quality had been convincing, it would have bothered me less. At the end, when the waiter asked if everything was OK, I mentioned the tough meat. His reaction was simply to ask why I hadn't called in sooner - but given the already long wait, I didn't want to risk waiting a long time for my food again. No compensation in the form of a discount or dessert on the house was offered. It's also a shame that the neighboring tables have very little space between them. You hardly have any privacy. It's a shame, the restaurant used to be much better and looks promising in the pictures. Unfortunately, it could not confirm this.

Unfortunately very overpriced due to the trade fair. Cleanliness in the room was "well." For example, there was still toothpaste residue from the previous person in the toothbrush cup. Breakfast was very “clear”. Dinner in the restaurant was very good though!

I've been there several times now. The food is fantastic! You can tell that the preparation is always fresh, the quality of the products is tasty and consistent at all times. One of the best German restaurants in all of Stuttgart.

We won't be coming back. Me and another lady waited in the entrance area to be assigned the reserved table. A lady from the service came and ignored me, my greeting to her was not returned. The other lady who was also waiting was greeted happily because she was the mother of one of the service employees. She hadn't made a reservation. Then the daughter came, she also just greeted her mother and ignored me too. After about 15 minutes a waiter came and took care of me/us. Unfortunately the whole thing was tough and dry. We told our waiter this. Comment from him: he'll think of something. While paying he had the idea of ​​inviting us for an espresso. Which we politely declined. The whole thing was on my birthday too.

Swabian home cooking with a twist and sophistication. A special highlight: the Berkel and everything it produces, finely and thinly sliced. Don't give up on the simple things - they are the most convincing.

We were at the Garbe on Sunday in January for a celebration with 22 people. The service, the selection of drinks and the food were great and highly recommended. Particularly noteworthy is Johann. We were in the Garbe during our lunch break. A cozy restaurant with very nice service and atmosphere. We had the very tasty meal of the day and can only recommend the Garbe.

We didn't have a room. Therefore no rating. We were there to eat raclette. The food and the overall service were great and we didn't miss anything. The location was very nice and the winter tent was already heated upon arrival. We felt very comfortable, would be happy to recommend you to others and would definitely be happy to come here again. A gift voucher that was issued at the end of Corona was no longer accepted and therefore expired 100%. I imagine something different as a gesture of goodwill, especially if €50 wouldn't have been enough anyway given the expensive prices.

Just happened to look in the publicly visible food inspection of the city of Stuttgart. On September 12, 2024, an inspection took place in the Garbe kitchen. What I read there confirms to me that I've done well not to go out to eat for a long time.

What the Stuttgart food inspection says is inhumane! With what conscience can you sell spoiled food to guests!?

The Garbe restaurant in Plieningen completely convinced us! The service was exceptional - friendly, attentive and always concerned about our well-being. The atmosphere was cozy and stylish at the same time, which made the evening a special experience. We were treated to absolutely high-quality food. Particularly noteworthy are the braised pork cheeks, which literally melted in your mouth. The mushroom ravioli with peas was perfectly balanced, with a wonderfully creamy filling and aromatic mushrooms. The venison ragout was wonderfully tender, with a delicious sauce that went perfectly with the dish. Even without dessert, we felt completely satisfied as the portions were generous and the quality of the ingredients was excellent. A visit to the Garbe is a pleasure for all the senses - we will definitely come back!

Once again, the visit was very, very good. I would particularly like to highlight the Wiener Schnitzel. It's very rare to get the real thing, which means with anchovies and capers. It may sound unusual, but this is a real original. Wonderfully tossed in real butter, perfectly baked and a fantastic taste experience. That means it’s not “just” a Wiener Schnitzel. Thanks also to the very attentive service staff!!! Unfortunately I didn't take a picture this time, I was too hungry and was just looking forward to the schnitzel... Next time I'll take pictures again 😇

Super friendly and competent staff delicious food

I didn't use it as a hotel but as a restaurant. The place is welcoming and warm, with friendly service and good food. The average price is high but fair.
