A lovely little corner pub with a cozy atmosphere and good background music; a small but excellent menu with food at fair prices. I had the meatloaf with a fried egg and fried potatoes from the specials menu for €13.90.

Great restaurant with fantastic service, and once the food arrives, you'll be hooked. All I can say is, it's plentiful and extremely tasty.

Popped in today by chance. Since the change of ownership, they now serve Bohemian cuisine. Cash only!! Two people had schnitzel, which was great, including the size. One had currywurst, which unfortunately I cannot recommend! A small bratwurst with some kind of dark, tough sauce that had nothing to do with curry. I had the baked cheese and ordered dumplings to go with it because I was hungry. Unfortunately, it wasn't that special either, quite tough and the cheese wasn't runny inside. The dumplings were disappointing, quite hard and not fluffy. We complained about the currywurst and didn't have to pay for it, which was really nice.

We stopped by spontaneously this evening and, thanks to the beautiful weather, sat on the terrace. A fountain with a colorful display is nearby. The service was prompt and friendly, and the food was served in a reasonable time, delicious and hot, and very tasty. The portions were very generous, and the value for money was very good.

A very good restaurant, also serving Czech dishes. We were there for lunch during the week. The staff was friendly, and the service was prompt. The food was spicy and tasty, and the portion sizes were very generous. You can sit outside, very close to the fountains – very cozy. However, I'm deducting one star overall: there's a laminated menu with both the front and back. It was a bit sticky. Also, I only spotted one vegetarian dish. A separate lunch menu would certainly be beneficial to attract more customers on weekdays. The price/performance ratio is absolutely fine.

Was a cute spot to sit outside and enjoy dinner. Both the Pragerschnitzel and Balkan schnitzel were great and I'd definitely come back again.

Our Sunday visit with seven people ended before we could even order – and that, unfortunately, says it all. When we arrived, three employees were sitting outside, smoking and busy with their cell phones. We were initially completely ignored and only approached after several minutes. Our request to sit at a table as a group (there were more than enough available) was declined without any explanation: "You can have two tables. But we won't put them together!" When we asked, we were met with a shake of the head – no "We're sorry," no explanation, no effort whatsoever. This is not how you treat guests who want to spend time and money in a restaurant. I can't comment on the food, but the unfriendly and disinterested reception alone is enough not to recommend this restaurant.

The food is nice and there is a fountain nearby for kids to play in. But the restaurant adds a small undisclosed extra free when trying to pay by card. This practice must not be allowed to spread.

The new owner is from the Czech Republic. They serve some authentic dishes and the Bohemian brass music is too loud. The interior isn't particularly wheelchair-accessible. The portions are much too large, and the sweet cream on my roast beef took some getting used to.

We felt very unwelcome by the waitress who was unfriendly and seemed bothered. We only ordered drinks so cannot comment on the foot.

The service was the best part. On a Saturday night, they were out of schnitzel. The food selection was generally very limited. The food (goulash) was okay at best. My companion received a Coke in a glass that was clearly cracked and had sharp edges. It was replaced without any problems, but in my opinion, it should have been noticed in a timely manner.

We are regular guests at the Babička restaurant in Pirna, which we greatly appreciate. It recently opened two branches in Dresden. Yesterday we wanted to try one of them, the Am Thor. To put it briefly: quite a disappointment; the restaurant falls drastically short of the original. My wife's Wiener Schnitzel was dry and cooked much too dark (twice?), the coleslaw was barely a tablespoon, and the lemon had to be requested separately. Since the schnitzels at neighboring tables looked better, they may have mistaken us for tourists who wouldn't be back anyway. My roast beef was slightly better, but the sauce was quite sweet, and the cranberries fit on a small spoon. It's a shame, but our expectations weren't met. My meal might have deserved three out of five stars, my wife's one, so the meal deserves two points overall.

It wasn't particularly busy, even after several visits. One reason could be the unfriendly service. Instead of being happy about the unfortunately low number of customers, they start clearing up at 9:30 p.m. One gets the impression that the staff are more interested in their phones than in the customers. Overall, an unfriendly and anonymous atmosphere. A shame.

The quality of the food here is much worse than Hurvínek on Winterbergstraße, despite having the same owner. My friend was not happy with the taste. While the taste was acceptable to me, I got diarrhea later. Neither foreign nor German credit cards were accepted, despite the restaurant being located on a street with tourist attractions, so I regretted it after paying a large tip. Therefore, this restaurant is like all other restaurants on Hauptstraße, only wanting to rob money from tourists instead of attracting repeat customers. Boys and girls, let's go to Hurvínek instead.

I couldn't find the menu online, and when we sat down to eat, there was unfortunately only one vegetarian dish.... What a shame... I hope this won't be an exception in the future. My family really enjoyed the food... I only had a side dish... Very friendly staff, food came very quickly.

The three of us went there for lunch today. As a native Dresdener, I've always enjoyed eating there. Since the change in chef and staff, I can no longer recommend this otherwise great restaurant. I personally had aspic with fried potatoes; although it was more seasoned. I've never had such bad food. The fried potatoes were completely oversalted and swimming in fat, and the aspic had no flavor at all. This restaurant was a total disappointment and doesn't deserve a recommendation.

Payment is only possible in cash or with debit card. No Visa, etc. The food is plentiful and delicious.

Portion was plentiful, unfortunately not finished. You can take food with you, but you have to take containers in your hand as there are unfortunately no bags. You won't see us here again, it's no service!!!

We were just there to drink. Cola 4 deciliters was a bit expensive (4.80). The staff were very polite. The menu offers some things, like goulash, veal schnitzel, pork. I'm sure you'll find something.

Wir waren unter dem vorherigen Besitzer viele Jahre lang zufriedene Gäste. Essen und Getränke waren stets von guter Qualität und zu fairen Preisen. Das „Am Thor“ wurde kürzlich unter neuer Leitung wiedereröffnet. Leider hat die Qualität nachgelassen. Die Bierauswahl war von gleicher Qualität, die Preise waren jedoch etwas höher. Die größte Enttäuschung war die Speisekarte: Die Auswahl war viel kleiner und die Preise höher. Es gab weder Salat noch Bauernfrühstück. Wir entschieden uns, einfach einen Teller Pommes zu bestellen, um unser Bier im Imbiss zu teilen. Als der Teller kam, war die Portion im Vergleich zu dem, was unter dem vorherigen Besitzer serviert wurde, lächerlich klein. Mayonnaise gab es nicht, wie zuvor immer. Für eine zuvor ausgezeichnete Gaststätte war es ein enttäuschender Besuch.

We enjoyed drinking delicious German beer after a long walk around Dresden. Very good location of the restaurant in the shadow of the boulevard. The service was quick, the waitress was polite and suggested a good snack to go with the beer. Prices are normal. I recommend it.

Op onze eerste dag van onze fietsvakantie langs de Elbe waren we op zoek naar een restaurant. En eind augustus in de buitenlucht aan een plein met fontijn hebben we heerlijk in dit restaurant gegeten. Een kaas gerecht vooraf en een Flammkuchen als hoofdrerecht. Met daarbij een heerlijk Keller biertje. Een aanrader.

It works like this.Sauce was Maggi/Knorr ready-made sauce. Fried schnitzel. Heavily salted vegetables. What I liked was the chicken soup.

Tho we weren't very hungry, we wanted to find a place to relax, and Am Thor was the good choice. We ordered Flamm Frites savoury, and paired it with Staropramen dark beer, which complemented the flavors perfectly. Friendly staff, the food was great, a large portion and, above all, the price was unbeatable. If I have a craving for a schnitzel again in Dresden, I will definitely stop by here again.

I can't say anything about the food and service, but my 6 year old urgently had to go to the toilet. When she asked her in a friendly manner whether she could use the toilet, the somewhat arrogant-looking waiter answered rather rudely: no, because it costs one euro. Due to the way my daughter was treated here, I decided to leave a review and hope that paying customers will at least receive friendlier service. By the way, the child was able to go to the toilet without any problems with friendly welcome in the Lion 😉👍 🏻

I can only give my opinion on the ambience of the outdoor area. We were served quickly and nicely. The “pork schnitzel with spiced meat gratinated & Pmmes fries” was very tasty and the portion was great.

The unseasoned vegetables weren't cooked through, the boiled potatoes tasted like everything but potatoes or salt. All in all, none of it was homemade and you could taste it. Unfortunately really bad for the price we paid.

After having a poor experience at a restaurant down the road where an overweight waitress threw a menu at me, this restaurant came to save the day. Service was excellent, food was satiating and delicious. I strongly recommend this restaurant above any in Dresden. Prices were a little high for Eastern Germany, but I would return here again due to the tasty dishes and hospitality.
