Wiesengrund Gaststätte in Groß-Gerau

€38.50 for frozen food and mass catering – it was a disappointment. We visited the Wiesengrund restaurant today for the buffet. Our first impression was already sobering: the decor looks very dated and is in dire need of a makeover. However, the quality of the food was far more concerning. For a hefty price of €38.50 per person, one expects freshness and craftsmanship. What we got was a carelessly presented buffet that tasted strongly of reheated frozen food. Nothing about it left a positive impression. The service was also indicative of the overall quality of the establishment: although friendly and attentive (hence the two stars), none of the guests were asked by the staff, "Did you enjoy your meal?" Presumably, they already knew the answer. The staff's silence regarding the "buffet" perfectly matched the rest of the impression: the entire concept of the business, in our opinion, seems to be geared solely towards getting the customer to come, pay, and leave quickly. Unfortunately, the price and the reality on the plate don't match up at all. Not recommended.

I stayed here for two nights with my colleague, who was working as a technician. The food was good. The portions were adequate, and it actually tasted quite good. Unfortunately, the restaurant itself is very old, very shabby, and could really use a renovation. Sadly, this continues with the guest rooms. The entire hallway reeked so horribly of stale smoke and sewage that I had to take a three-hour bath after I got home. I was so disgusted afterward; even all my clothes stank. And that's not an exaggeration! I'm not at all sensitive to smells, and I smoke a lot myself. But this was unacceptable. And then, upon arrival, they threatened us that anyone caught smoking in their room would have to pay a €50 cleaning fee! It felt like every single room reeked of smoke... They're apparently so naive, or simply unwilling to notice that people were smoking in the building. Anyway... The rest of the furnishings and everything else are at least 30 years old. The hot water in the shower took, I think, 3-5 minutes to get comfortable. And all that for €45 per person! Really? No way am I going back here. Of course, if you're into cold smoke mixed with sewage treatment, then this is the perfect place.

As someone already wrote, it's a typical club bar. I'll remember the place for a long time because of the cats. Better not let them near you; I got a few flea bites from them 🤢

Good tasty home cooking. I had schnitzel with spun cheese, fries and salad. Totally delicious. Very nice staff.

Restaurant Wiesengrund... One of those shops that should have been there for a long time (or is it felt?). Food is just not good overall. Not good quality and extremely unloving. It worked for a long time, but time seems to have passed the operators by without leaving any trace. You can also stubbornly go through with something, and if you want to experience it live: Gaststätte Wiesengrund. Anyone who gives a more positive review here can only be somewhat nostalgic (maybe they celebrated communion there as a child) or they have little to no idea how to operate gastronomy at an acceptable level.

My wife and I recently had our wedding anniversary and we wanted something different, like our local restaurant, because we go there so often. Since the wedding day fell on a Monday, the selection was somewhat limited and I also asked colleagues where one could eat it well. I was quickly told the Wiesengrund, where you used to be able to eat well, according to a colleague who now lives on the other side of the Rhine. So I looked at the website, which makes a good impression. Here I also found a note that there is lamb from our own slaughterhouse. Unfortunately I couldn't find a menu, so I called and asked if there was only lamb or other things too. I was assured on the phone that there are other things too, but the card changes frequently, so they don't do it online. You are then greeted by an outdoor area littered with weeds, the tables are old and carelessly set up, so you quickly go inside the restaurant. But that wasn't any better, everything was old, worn and a bit dingy. There was also a strong smell of cold smoke. We were then greeted by the couple who ran the place and told us to find a place, they would come straight away and continued to look at their TV, which seemed to be more interesting than us. We went out again because the air was at least better outside and hoped to eat meat from our own slaughterhouse. After a few minutes the waitress came and presented us with the menu. It was simply a DIN A4 sheet laminated - also sticky... My wife ordered schnitzel with pepper cream sauce for 13 euros and I ordered the lamb goulash for 15 euros, following the house's recommendation with croquettes instead of spaetzle. We also ordered a side salad for 4.90 euros each. The salad then arrived quite quickly, which was OUTRAGEOUS! Some cabbage, some cucumber with ready-made dressing and half a small torn lettuce leaf in vinegar and oil, without salt or pepper. My wife's schnitzel was frozen from pressed meat, the sauce from a tetra pack. Every toddler can do this better. The lamb goulash was also very disappointing. The 6 croquettes came with three pieces of meat that didn't deserve the name because it was almost entirely fat and - of course - in a ready-made sauce. Well, we wanted to have something special for our wedding anniversary... In a way we did, just not in the way we thought.

The food was delicious, the ambience was a bit old, but somehow exuded the charm of the simply designed large-scale restaurant from the last millennium.

OV board meeting, good supply of drinks and anyone who is hungry is also well looked after. Recommended

A very outdated restaurant. The food wasn't special. The typical after-work beer drinkers sat in the front area. Furniture very old and in the 80s style. The service was ok, but not particularly friendly either. The path to the restaurant was potholed and the parking lot was not properly signposted. In the dark you could only guess where you were allowed to park. I don't have to go there again.

Einfaches Restaurant. Kleine Speisekarte. Freundlicher Service. Gutes Preis- Leistungsverhältnis. Das Essen schmeckt. Das Lammfleisch kommt aus eigener Tierhaltung. Man kann die Schafe draußen beobachten.

Die Gaststätte ist sehr empfehlenswert! Die Zimmer sind preiswert aber könnten etwas moderner sein. Aber im großen und ganzen einen Aufenthalt wert!

Sehr schön da, absolute weiterempfehlung

Zimmer schlicht aber sauber was ich nicht gut finde TV auf dem Schrank vom Bett aus zu schauen ist eine Herausforderung eine Wandmontage wäre auf Augenhöhe vielleicht besser wäre bequem etwas größer würde besser aussehen. Parkplatz für LKW sind vorhanden. Für tierfrunde ideal, preisleistung ist inordnung

Das Schlachtplattenbuffet hat uns gut gefallen. War alles sehr lecker und für 14 Euro inkl. Schnaps ein guter Preis. Die Bedienung war auch sehr freundlich.

Habe hier Handkäs mit Musik gegessen. War eine große Portion ( 4 Stück) für 5,-€.sehr reeller Preis. Gut geeignet für Familien, da es viele Katzen und Schafe gibt.
