Very cozy Czech restaurant with a large selection of draft beers.

Went there spontaneously for lunch. Okay, pork schnitzel was out but no problem. I had Kassel neck (could have used a slice more meat) which was very tasty and my girlfriend had the Wenzel burger. Both were thrilled. And your limos are great!!!

There are high chairs for children, a children's menu and a children's corner (small). The food and beer were delicious. Service only for 3-4. There is a comfortable patio inside. There were many free tables on Tuesday evening.

We were in Leipzig last week and reserved a table at Wenzel. The ambience is quite appealing, the service was a bit cold. We wanted to try original Bohemian cuisine. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. My husband had the Wenzel style beef roast with wild mushroom sauce. Unfortunately there were hardly any mushrooms. The meat was okay so far. I had beef goulash, which was a bit overcooked and the portion was also very manageable. The sauerkraut was too sweet for us and the Bohemian dumplings were dry and tasted like nothing. We were really disappointed and will not recommend this restaurant.

Czech-inspired restaurant with solid cuisine, but without the wow factor. The guest room has a medieval character, but seems rather plain to me with the simple wooden tables and chairs and is a bit too dark for me personally. The feel-good atmosphere is missing here. The menu is kept small. Here you can get classic home cooking such as goulash, roulade, knuckle and schnitzel. Typically Czech as a side dish: Bohemian dumplings & potatoes as well as various types of cabbage. As the name “Prager Bierstuben” suggests, you can get a large selection of different beers here. The “Bakalar” we ordered was nice and tasty! A real recommendation! For dinner there was the beef roulade with red cabbage and butter potatoes. This was a decent size and tasted good. The cream roast beef we ordered was also well received. The dishes could only have been served a little hotter. The “Three Quark Dumplings” filled with cherry, apricot and nougat filling were very tasty! You should definitely try it. Price-wise, it’s perfectly fine for city center conditions! The service was great! We were greeted warmly and shown to our seat. The orders were also taken and served without a long wait. We also regularly asked whether anything else was needed without being intrusive. Delicious beer and good food! If you don't expect anything out of the ordinary, you can definitely pay a visit to the "Wenzel Prager Bierstuben".

We were looking for a good restaurant late on a Saturday evening and found it at Wenzel. Food and drinks were very good, only the elderberry beer was a matter of taste. A relaxed evening with friendly service.

The food was very tasty. The beer served is also highly recommended! The portion of the goulash could be a little larger, but the portion of the knuckle is more generous. Unfortunately, deduction for the service. The glasses and plates had been empty for 30 minutes and we had to get up from the table ourselves and ask 2 employees to get attention again. The tone of the bill was also quite unfriendly, so the feelings when leaving were rather mixed. Maybe we'll try it again.

Waiter very friendly and attentive. Goulash soup in a mini bowl tastes like it comes from a can (8.95 euros), two small pieces of meat, ready-made napkin dumplings and ready-made sauce for 22 euros. 2 of 3 beers not available. Price-performance inadequate.

Food tasted good. The 2 star deduction is for the portion sizes, e.g. a Soljanka for 9€ which is smaller, all a cup of coffee...the price/performance ratio is simply not right.

One thing in advance: I sent this review to the restaurant over two weeks ago, unfortunately there was no response from the operator. Food top, service flop First, we were told three times (!!!) by a visibly stressed gentleman that we had to leave the table at 6 p.m. instead of saying “Hello”. We had a table at the back of the restaurant, the gentleman sprinted ahead at such a speed that my 60 year old mother almost fell on the landing/small step. We felt a bit stressed by the numerous information about the time pressure and then had to wait a full 10 minutes to be able to place our drink order. The lady who came to our table was just as stressed as her colleague and incredibly unfriendly. Shortly afterwards a second lady came and also wanted to take the drinks. When the drinks came, one was missing (there were only four of us). When asked about this, the service person with the glasses turned around without saying a word and came back with the missing drink. She slammed it onto the table without a word as she passed by (not even at the guest's seat without a drink) and turned back to the large party next to us/in the back of the restaurant (birthday party who were served around 20 cakes). All in all, the service at this point seemed extremely overwhelmed and very, very poorly organized. We waited just as long again to order our food. We were now running out of time because we were told in no uncertain terms that our table had to be free by 6 p.m. When ordering food, we had a server who was also stressed but at least tried hard (without glasses), who apologized at least partially and stated that on a Saturday the restaurant only had 10 service staff for the huge indoor area, two outdoor areas and the large birthday party (!!). Unfortunately, the food ordering was just as poorly organized: the fact that people ordered their food (starter and main course) one after the other, as is usual everywhere else, led to absolute chaos. It was explained to us that the in-house ordering system required us to first order the starters as a group and then the main courses. Part of the typed order had to be deleted and re-recorded. The erratic disorganization and the clearly verbalized time pressure made us completely nervous at this point; there was no question of a relaxed meal in a nice atmosphere. In addition, the lady with glasses came back and wanted to take our food order. When we told her that we had already ordered, she rushed off again just as quietly. The food came quickly and was very tasty, and we were also asked again about our drink requests. However, with a table bill of €180.00, I find the conditions described unbearable. With all understanding for staff absences or shortages, it cannot be that this comes at the expense of professionalism and, above all, at the expense of the customer. An extra point for the hard-working lady without glasses, but we definitely wouldn't come back. It's a shame, because the atmosphere and especially the food really had potential.

My tarte flambée was subpar, arrived already cold and was overall lousy. Somehow the wooden board underneath had a negative impact on the taste. My colleagues had goulash with dumplings, well what can I say, it's unfortunately the ready-to-eat brewery canteen food that's available in many places. Augustiner on the market is similar, but a shade better. It's better to go to the Bavarian train station, much better and a little cheaper.

Nice staff. Great location. Delicious food. Prices are rising in Leipzig style like everywhere else. We think the P/L ratio is still good here. A little tip for ice cream gourmets, choose the children's portion and ask nicely for one of the other types of ice cream and get a taste of the range cheaply and deliciously.

If you want to eat good, rustic food in Leipzig and drink a good beer with it, you can't miss Wenzel. The knuckle in particular is fresh, crispy and good, and even in Bavaria some restaurants could take it as a model. The staff is very friendly and attentive.

This evening there was another nice gentlemen's group. Great atmosphere, nice, courteous and friendly service. Delicious and hearty food (for me knuckle - 💯% top with dumplings and sauerkraut). You can recommend the location not only for Leipzig 👌🏼

A wonderful place to drink beer with friends. The best selection of tasty beers in all of Leipzig. However, the price of beer is above average. The food is very good. Just Bohemian cuisine. The service leaves nothing to be desired. Conclusion: You'll be happy to come back.

An unserem 48. Hochzeitstag waren wir in Leipzig und haben uns für den 10.03. dieses Restaurant im Vorfeld ausgesucht. Da sich unsere 9 stündige Zugfahrt nach Leipzig um etwa 20 Minuten verspätet hat, wurden wir von der Bedienung zuerst gemaßregelt, dass wir ein paar Minuten zu spät waren. Die im Nachhinein unnatürlich aufgesetzte Freundlichkeit hat uns fast zum Verlassen des Restaurants veranlasst, aber bedingt durch die anstrengende Anreise sind wir dort geblieben. Das Essen und die Getränke waren o.k., wobei die Vorspeise der Knödel-Pommes sehr gut war.

Eating (lunch) at Wenzel again for a long time. Hearty Bohemian cuisine. Whether it's goulash, smoked pork, dumplings, solyanka, it all tastes good. The homemade lemonades are also recommended. There is a children's menu for the little ones, which could be a little bigger. If the child doesn't find anything themselves, they can safely order the Karlsbad Taler for the little ones. Potato rösti always works... And adults like a portion of salmon with it. Friendly and courteous staff complete the experience. Gladly again

The food is of very good quality and tastes excellent - the beef roulade and the goulash are particularly highly recommended. Service was friendly and attentive, despite the restaurant being busy on a Friday evening. The atmosphere is cozy, with a beautiful courtyard and a rustic ambience. A reservation is definitely advisable as the restaurant seems to be very popular. Overall, a clear recommendation for anyone who appreciates good food, friendly service and an authentic, relaxed atmosphere! I'd love to come back.

The food is good. The Wenceslas knuckle is sufficient. The garlic soup is a delight.

We were here on business and had reserved in advance. Since I have been to Prague many times and really like the cuisine and the beers, the bar was set very high. And I have to say, I wasn't disappointed. I'll definitely be happy to come back here.

Portions are extremely small. Self-dispensing system only works to a limited extent. All clothes smell like food after the visit.

I come here every now and then when I want something hearty and hearty. Good beer selection. The Topinka is great, even if it doesn't come with garlic cloves like in the Czech Republic, but everything is very fresh. Friendly staff even in the most stressful situations.

Had lunch here spontaneously on a weekend without a reservation. Staff friendly. Ambience quite nice. However, the table is a bit cramped due to the table legs being too wide. The food was delicious, no question. But nothing special either. What was not at all satisfactory was the size of the portion. The goulash with dumplings was very small. There was also little meat in the goulash. I couldn't get enough for around 21 euros. There was hardly anything on the plate with the chicken breast with oven-roasted vegetables. You would also look in vain for a supplement here. Price for the beer 0.5 almost 6 euros. For me, the price/performance isn't right at all, which is why it's ultimately only enough for 3 stars. For me it was the first and last visit. Sorry!

Quaint restaurant with Bohemian specialties. The menu has something for everyone...for veggies but also hearty things for meat lovers. Service is friendly and quick. We felt very comfortable - will be back. 😉

Quaint restaurant, friendly service, not a long waiting time, delicious food, good price-performance ratio. People with reduced mobility are also taken into account here - there is an elevator to the toilets, no steps but rather sloping areas. Thank you

A number of Czech cuisine specialties are offered here, you can stay in a cheap hostel right next door, nice staff, I was very satisfied and the ambience was fine.

A wonderful restaurant. It was rustic and absolutely delicious. The burgers were juicy and the dumpling fries...I've never had anything like that before. Highly recommended and also filling. We look forward to seeing you again.

Mediocre beer, cold service, average atmosphere. The food reminded me of my high school cantine - cheap ingredients, poorly prepared. In that sense, this place does a good job of presenting an authentic experience of a Czech restaurant. Just a really bad one, stuck in the socialist era.

Nice restaurant with delicious Bohemian cuisine. Unfortunately, one star is deducted because we wanted to swap the dumplings for dumplings in one dish, but we were told that there were only a few dumplings left and that was therefore not possible. The request of a guest who was already there was ignored in order to serve possible guests who were not there yet. Unfortunately for me that is not the appreciation that I would expect in a good restaurant.

Great place. Nice service and great food. We had dinner with four people. All dishes were very tasty and the portions were perfect. The price-performance ratio was also very good. The Bohemian dumplings were something new but very tasty. The dumpling fries are also highly recommended. We had different beers while we ate, which tasted very good. There was nothing to complain about when it came to dessert either. The three dumplings are highly recommended. The evening was a great experience and I will definitely come back!

We had dinner here on Friday evening with a larger group of 9 people. The restaurant was very busy and the service was initially very stressed. At the beginning our drink order also went missing, so we had to wait a little longer. The beef goulash tasted very good, although the dumplings were a bit dry. All in all we were satisfied.

Had dinner at 3:00 p.m. Quite crowded locally. Ambience good. Unfortunately we were treated badly by the waitress. We had a birthday voucher that included champagne, but we didn't want it. Service was incredibly rude and unfriendly. Don't know how you can treat guests like that. We then pointed this out to her and reacted even worse. It's unbelievable how something like this works

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed last Wednesday, October 23rd, 2024, when we wanted to visit Wenceslas around 4 p.m.! We were intercepted by the waiter at the door with the words……really bad right now, maybe in an hour 🙁🤔. Without any explanation or further communication (there were enough tables) we were simply sent away! Something like that is simply not hospitality and we have never experienced it anywhere. Since we have often gone to Wenzel, whether in Dresden, Leipzig or Warnemünde, we are unfortunately done with it for now.

Wir waren am Wochenende als 7 köpfige Gruppe im Wenzel essen. Wir hatten im Vorfeld reserviert, was auch nötig war, denn es war brechend voll. Wir können vor den Mitarbeitern nur den Hut ziehen! Der überall vorhandene Personalmangel hat offenbar auch hier Einzug gehalten und macht es den verbleibenden Kräften unglaublich schwer! Wir haben die Theke beobachtet (wir saßen direkt dahinter) und haben uns gefragt, wie nur 1 Mensch es überhaupt schaffen kann, die Getränke für ein volles Haus zu zapfen und auszuschenken. Unglaublich! Jeder einzelne Mitarbeiter war trotz dieses wahnsinnigen Stresses ausgesprochen nett und konnte trotzdem noch lächeln. Es wurde sich sogar dafür entschuldigt, dass die Getränke recht lange gedauert haben, obwohl wir genau sehen konnten, daß es einfach unmöglich war, hinter dem Tresen noch schneller zu sein. Das Essen war hervorragend und wir wurden sehr zuvorkommend bedient. Wir hatten einen tollen Abend! Wir bedanken uns und hoffen, daß sich die personelle Situation wieder bessert, damit die verbleibenden Mitarbeiter irgendwann wieder auf ein normales Stresslevel runter fahren können.

Be careful: rip-off! I said 3 times, TAP WATER and still I got sparkling water. A friend who doesn't speak German also ordered "tap water" and got the same water. It was completely annoying to see that I had to spend an additional 7.20. I would definitely avoid it.

A great location that impressed us as soon as we walked in. The menu has a lot to offer. At the neighboring table, guests could tap their own beer. So also a nice highlight for events. Despite the size and high number of visitors, we didn't have to wait long for our food. And it was delicious. In between we kept asking whether we were happy and satisfied and whether we needed anything else. The service staff is not just polite, they are also very friendly. You impressed us, we will definitely come back!

Absolutely disappointing - 0 stars would be appropriate Our visit was a complete disappointment. We wanted to toast our engagement here, but the evening was completely ruined for us. We were simply ignored by the service staff for over 30 minutes - not a look, not a word, nothing. It was only after half an hour that our order was even taken. After another 18 minutes the food came, but still no drinks. When asked, the waitress reacted annoyed and unfriendly and actually asked if she should take the food back with her. The Bohemian quartet I ordered was served to me in fruit juice glasses, without a foam head - absolutely inedible. When I commented on this, the beer was carelessly poured into the same glass and I was also scolded for having “almost twice as much beer”. We traveled an hour extra and would understand a lot of activity or stress - but not for being ignored for 30 minutes and then treated so disrespectfully. Instead of completely overlooking the guests, you could simply communicate stress. It's not possible to take the bad mood out on the guest. And if glasses are missing, you can say so - but don't serve them so unprofessionally and carelessly and then insult the guests. We have never experienced such poor service - absolutely not recommended.

No doubt, you are in good hands here in every respect. A big compliment to the staff, they are quick with an overview and commitment. And the beers and food are at least as good as in the Czech Republic

Nice restaurant with friendly staff, the food was delicious - portions too small for our taste, but also cheaper. Prices were generally okay, but I would rather describe the restaurant as German cuisine since there were more German dishes on the menu. The furnishings were quite nice, more suitable for larger events/mass crowds and quickly and cheaply with lots of seats. But that's not the problem.

Ate very well and drank delicious beer. The children's portions are relatively cheap and reasonably large. The waiter was very attentive and friendly, although he had to rotate quite a bit due to the very limited staff (2 cellars for the whole place, if I saw it correctly).
