Very large Czech restaurant. Very nice service and very child-friendly. There is even a whole play castle in the restaurant. The food was very good. The meat of the smoked knuckle falls off the bone and was very tasty. The roast beef was a bit lacking in meat.

Very good restaurant with Bohemian cuisine in the heart of Leipzig. The prices are completely acceptable for what is offered and for the Leipzig price level. The portions are okay, if you have a big appetite we recommend adding cabbage or salad for just under 4 euros. The selection of Czech beers is great, the staff very friendly and attentive. Our order came to the table very quickly and we enjoyed it.

Napkin dumplings were very tasty. The Kässpätzle is rather simple and certainly too expensive. The lemonades are highly recommended. Overall, too much money for simple food.

The Wenzel has always been our first address when we were in Leipzig. Quality hasn't decreased, prices have gone up a bit, but we were shocked by the note in the menu. The claim that the tax has been increased to 19% is simply false. It was only levied back again after the tax had been reduced in the meantime. However, the prices for customers were not adjusted when they were reduced to 7%. We also found the reference to card payments to be populist. When sales are so large, it's important to accept card payments. You don't have to cry to the customer. Card payment is part of good service in a restaurant of this size!

The service was annoyed, taciturn and unfriendly. The food was very tasty, the portions could have been a little larger. I had the Wenceslas herb pancake and was disappointed that there was almost only coleslaw in it. The menu mentioned vegetables, tomatoes, feta cheese, white cabbage was last but by far the most included. If you like this: highly recommended. However, it wasn't my case. The veggie burger was average, quite good. Overall we were satisfied and full, but found other restaurants better. Top recommendation: the dumpling fries! Really crispy and delicious! If we would come back, it would be for the dumpling fries!

Unfortunately we were very disappointed. The fried chicken breast was 4 thin slices of meat, the Wiener Schnitzel for a whopping 30 euros was a pure disaster. When you cut it, the entire breading is removed. The meat looked very unappetizing and was grayish. Either it was thawed quickly or it was a finished product. This price was in no way justified. It's a shame because the nice service didn't help either. We won't be coming back.

If you would like to have a typical Czech meal, you are in good hands here. Of course, the taste cannot be compared 1 to 1 with the original Prague cuisine, but it is still very tasty. The beer here is definitely worth a visit for anyone who would like to drink Czech beer from the barrel or even want to pour it themselves at the table. All in all, we were very satisfied with the friendly staff!

We were at the Wenzel restaurant in Leipzig on June 10th, 2024. Eat: I had the small Bohemian smoked knuckle. It was served in black beer sauce with sauerkraut and Bohemian napkin dumplings. The knuckle was very tender and incredibly tasty and also had plenty of meat, which almost fell off the bone on its own. The sauce was also delicious and went very well with it. The sauerkraut was one of the best I've eaten so far as it was slightly sweet and spicy and very tasty. The Pilsner beef goulash also had very tender, delicious meat and a very hearty, delicious dark sauce. Both dishes are highly recommended, but the smoked knuckle is something very special and brilliantly prepared. Beverages: The Czech beer selection and even an Allgäu Büble is very good and mostly freshly tapped. Pilse, amber and dark beers from the manufacturers Staropramen, Budweiser, Bakalar, Pilsner Urquell and Allgäuer Büble. Ambiance and toilet: Nice medieval rustic and clean modern toilets. Conclusion: Very good value for money. We'd love to visit it again!

Had a delicious meal on May 17, 2024. We have eaten at Wenzel several times, whether just as a couple or with the entire extended family, we always enjoyed it. The service is quick and helpful, the food is really tasty and the hidden restaurant impresses with its beautiful ambience. We decided to eat there based on the very good reviews. The ambience inside is very nice and cozy, but unfortunately the inner courtyard is very barren and uncomfortable. So we had to wait a long time for the food. Appetizer garlic soup tasted more like chicken broth. Roulade was very tasty, asparagus with schnitzel and potatoes unfortunately arrived lukewarm and therefore almost cold when I started eating. I also found the schnitzel to be very small. Dessert chocolate cake was very tasty, but unfortunately I didn't like the cappuccino at all.

Went spontaneously for lunch. We were offered an asparagus menu and a lunch menu. We tried a typical, tasty and Czech lunch at a reasonable price. We liked it and with the delicious beer, it was a good choice.

We had a table with a tap with 16 people and enjoyed the delicious beer and food as well as the great service.

We were here with family and friends about 2 weeks ago. The service was friendly. The atmosphere is rustic and cozy. Unfortunately, you can barely understand your own words...due to the size of the place, there is a high level of noise. My beer tasted watery, some of the men were happy with their beer, some also found it too “thin”. The portion sizes were manageable for everyone: 4 slices of dumplings (presumably to fill you up), lots of sauce and little meat (2 small thin slices of roast beef, you could count pieces of goulash,...). The men weren't fed. Unfortunately, I can't recommend "Wenceslas".

This cozy restaurant is located in the middle of Leipzig city center. There are outdoor, courtyard or indoor spaces. Everything is comfortably furnished. The food we ordered was incredibly tasty and the service was very attentive and friendly. 👍🏼 We'd love to come back. :)

A very very nice restaurant. Not a lot of bells and whistles. Down-to-earth, very comfortable. Very tasty beer. The food was MEGA. Soljanka first & beef goulash with Bohemian dumplings as the main course. Unfortunately, dessert was no longer suitable, but I'll make up for it. I'll be back. Promised.

This is truly my favorite restaurant when it comes to Bohemian cuisine. The breaded cheese in particular is amazing. I just prefer to order it with dumpling fries. It simply tastes fantastic. The elderberry shandy is my absolute favorite when it comes to drinking here. It's also really fun to do cones in a group. It's best to reserve just for this, as a special table is required for this. The staff is super friendly and if you sign up for the free bonus program, you will also receive a free birthday meal every year, as well as a small sparkling wine (or a non-alcoholic version) for each companion on a day of your choice. Really, just good.

A great and huge Czech city economy! The food is good with a varied selection. Service was very humorous and helpful. Unfortunately, new drinks were rarely asked for and there were 45 minutes between the starter and main course. Definitely worth a visit!

We went to the Wenzel restaurant for the first time today. For us, everything was right from start to finish, the furnishings/ambience fit perfectly with the cuisine on offer, the service was extremely friendly and quick and the food was excellent. First we ordered a garlic soup as a starter and the Pilsener beef goulash, the Bohemian smoked knuckle and the roast beef with wild mushroom sauce as main courses. The time interval between the serving of the starter and main course was very good (not too fast and not too late), the meat in each individual dish was tender as butter and everything tasted great. We can only recommend Wenzel and would be happy to come back!

I have to agree with some of the reviews here regarding the service. The dumplings with goulash tasted good enough, but that's not the point here. We were served by a waiter who couldn't have been more rude and unprofessional. This started when the order was placed, but was topped up during the payment process. When trying to pay with a cash card, the device showed "Transaction failed". The waiter rolled his eyes and we tried again. It didn't work again and he became soggy. So we tried another card and that didn't work either, which made it clear that the device was on strike. So he got a new device and lo and behold, the payment went through on the first try. BUT instead of apologizing, thanking you for the tip or even saying goodbye(!), he left the table without comment. How the gentleman with glasses could take up a service job with such behavior is a mystery to me. Despite the delicious food, we won't be visiting again.

Was there with a group. Czechs were also there. I'm a real fan of the Czech Republic and think I know my way around well. But the food only has something to do with Czech cuisine. But it was OK so far. Just for tourists. I had goulash with dumpling fries, which of course nobody in the Czech Republic knows about. Nobody would eat there! Why is there in a restaurant with "Czech cuisine" Soljanka and z. E.g. no Česnečkova/garlic soup or kulajda? Very high prices, especially for beer, which was at least very good. Next time it will be back in the original country. 😉

We come to Wenzels once a month with our sports group to enjoy a nice evening. Most of the time that works. Unfortunately, the portions (especially the fries for the burgers) are getting smaller and the prices are getting higher. One of the two changes would have been enough...But our beloved Krusovice was also swapped for another beer. It's a shame! We will continue to monitor this and wish the team stability and joy at work. Unfortunately we missed that last time. See you soon...

All off the food we ordered just disappeared (carried away) during we're smoking outside for 5 min. Is it your feature? What is a purpose? To push visitors out? Shame and unprofessionalism.

We have eaten at Wenzel many times and can only recommend it. Good typical cuisine... dumplings, red cabbage, pork knuckle, goulash, spaetzle. Everyone will find something here. Prices at today's level. Our waiter was moving a bit quickly, and he was gone as quickly as he came. But it still worked.

I must emphasize that the food was delicious and the space is very pleasant. The atmosphere is perfect to go with friends. I can't give it 5 stars because the service from one of the waiters was appalling. The treatment we received was intolerant and rude. When he took our order he was a bit rude and impatient, he took the wrong order and when we complained to him he told us that "we could have spoken English" even though we were speaking German the whole time. I would suggest finding more innovative and intelligent ways to hold customers accountable for their mistakes and educate their employees on the importance of good treatment and courtesy.

Prices very high for little food...

We ate at Wenzel in Leipzig on March 8th and would like to draw a positive conclusion. When we got there around 5 p.m., the restaurant was still pretty empty, but there were already a lot of tables reserved. The very friendly staff gave us a nice table and welcomed us warmly. The selection of food and drinks in Wenzel is very good, everyone will find what they are looking for here. Beer drinkers in particular will really appreciate the good selection! From 6 p.m. the restaurant suddenly became full and was quickly filled to the last seat. This really seems to be a phenomenon in Leipzig that we have never experienced before. Without a reservation you have to come early. Nevertheless, the service was still friendly and available at any time. I ate the roast beef Wenzel, which tasted good. However, in my opinion the portion was rather modest. Among other things, there were two very small slices of roast beef and there were really only small sliced ​​mushrooms to be found in the wild mushroom sauce. That may be technically OK, but unfortunately it doesn't meet my expectations at a price of €20.91. But here every guest can see for themselves and perhaps the owner can also improve this dish a bit? Overall it was a very nice stay and we would recommend the restaurant!

There were four of us at Wenzel. The table reservation was worth its weight in gold as the restaurant was well attended. The drinks were quickly brought to the table. There were many delicacies to choose from and soon on the table. As always, the food was very good and plentiful. Many thanks to the waitress Romy and the waiter Christoph. We'd love to come by again.

We went to the Czech restaurant for dinner. Without a reservation we were assigned a table in the back area. The waiter was very polite and you never had to wait long for anything. The food tasted very good and the portions were enough to fill you up. We had a table by the window with a view of the fountain. I found the atmosphere to be cozy. The noise from the other guests was a bit loud, but we didn't let that bother us. All in all we had a lovely evening with good food and great service. I can only recommend Wenzel.

We were guests on February 19, 2024 in the evening and really enjoyed it. As Austrians, we are familiar with Bohemian cuisine and we were excited to see what it tasted like in Wenzel. The food and drink were excellent. The Solyanka s tasted wonderful, as did the Svičkova with the Bohemian knedlički. Among the beers on offer, I recommend the Bakalar because of its full-bodied, slightly hoppy taste. A small Becherovka as a digestif is of course included. The service was very friendly, the ambience was appealing, and the atmosphere was casual.

Waiter behind the counter, with a pierced ear and a tattoo on the back of his neck with a mole, is so unfriendly. Complains to other guests and to us. Man notice we just arrived. No communication between the counter and waiters. Bullies the waitress because she sat us down wrong. Something like that doesn't work at all, especially with fingers pointing at you!!!!! We also intentionally got the beer later. Maybe he should go outside for some fresh air if the bartender isn't feeling the stress!!!

We went to Wenzel for the first time on a Friday evening. When it came to eating, I found the size of the dish a bit disappointing. I would have liked more on the plate, the goulash was definitely tasty. Regarding the service, very friendly but for the most part a bit overwhelmed with over 30 guests.

Large portions that taste delicious! The selection is large and something different. A great ending was the sweet stritzel fries with applesauce and vanilla sauce.

We ate here as a group of nine people. The food was served almost faster than the drinks. Unfortunately, you can tell that the food is not freshly prepared, but has been pre-cooked. I don't think the prices are justified for pre-cooked food. The ambience was ok, nothing special. The staff was friendly but kind of rude.

For the Wiener Schnitzel (veal) we will be at almost €30 in 2024...=- approx. €3 more than last year. In contrast to last year, the portions will be smaller. The potato and cucumber salad now comes in a bowl. (It used to be two separate ones.) It tastes like that too... Half a liter of beer (including Budweiser) is now €5.45. Also 30 cents more than in 2023.

The way to Wenzels is always worth it, even if you live a little further away.

Kellner hinter der Theke, mit gepierctem Ohr und Tattoo hinten im Nacken mit einem Leberfleck, ist so unfreundlich. Meckert andere Gäste und uns an. Mann bemerke wir sind gerade angekommen.Keine Kommunikation zwischen Theke und Kellnern. Motzt die Kellnerin an weil Sie uns falsch hingesetzt hatte. Sowas geht garnicht, vorallem dann auch noch mit Fingern auf einen Zeigen!!!!! Mit absicht haben wir dann auch dass Bier später bekommen. Vielleicht sollte er mal draussen Frische Luft schnappen gehen wenn der Stress dem Barkeeper nicht bekommt!!!

Mein Besuch im Wenzel Leipzig war ein Erlebnis mit Licht und Schatten. Kulinarisch konnte das Restaurant überzeugen – das Essen war hervorragend, geschmackvoll und obwohl nicht mehr günstig, war es seinen Preis eigentlich wert. Auch die Auswahl an Bieren war beeindruckend, auch wenn leider nicht alle Sorten verfügbar waren. Die Atmosphäre war bis zu einem gewissen Punkt des Abends angenehm, was den Aufenthalt zu einem schönen Erlebnis machte. Jedoch war der Abschluss des Abends enttäuschend. Kurz nach 21 Uhr wurde bereits die letzte Runde angekündigt und die Gäste wurden gegen 22 Uhr recht unsanft zum Verlassen des Lokals aufgefordert. Dies trübte den ansonsten angenehmen Abend und hinterließ einen bitteren Nachgeschmack. Zusammenfassend bietet das Wenzel Leipzig tolles Essen und eine gute Auswahl an Getränken, aber die Art und Weise, wie Gäste zum Ende des Abends behandelt werden, könnte deutlich gastfreundlicher sein. Es ist schade, dass der sonst positive Eindruck dadurch getrübt wurde.

Essen ist gut, leider etwas salzig. Das Ambiente ist nicht so schön es ist überladen, laut und dadurch sehr chaotisch. Also zum entspannt Mal etwas Essen eher ungeeignet. Der Service ist sehr gut , freundlich und schnell.

Leider hat sich meine Bewertung verschlechtert. Nicht nur das die Mwst Erhöhung komplett an die Kunden durchgereicht wird, gleichzeitig werden für überzogene Preise Miniportionen angeboten. Wir hatten jeder ein Wiener Schnitzel für 29,90€. Die Portion war kleiner als eine Rentnerportion in anderen Restaurants. Eine Unverschämtheit für den Preis. Mich hat das Restaurant als Kunden verloren.
