Weinstube Zur Kiste in Stuttgart

My absolute favorite restaurant for traditional Swabian cuisine! The roast beef with onions and crispy roasted potatoes – a poem that tempts all the senses. Accompanied by a glass of robust red wine from the winery – a perfect match. To finish, a pancake with cranberries and creamy vanilla ice cream – simply heavenly. The potato salad was so good that I was almost "watching" it in awe before I took the first bite. A culinary experience you won't forget!

Food was really good and vine too. Atmosphere was nice and relaxing. Really interesting to realise how old this place is. We enjoyed our time there very much.

The Zur Kiste restaurant in Stuttgart is a true insider tip for lovers of authentic Swabian cuisine. The cooking here is still traditional and hearty – the meatballs are a particular highlight: crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, simply delicious! The ambiance is rustic and cozy, in the style of a classic Swabian inn, and invites you to linger. A particular highlight is the dumbwaiter, which brings the dishes directly from the kitchen to the dining room – charming and unique. The friendly service team creates an inviting atmosphere where everyone feels at home. Even my young son receives a warm welcome every time. If you want to enjoy down-to-earth, Swabian food in a rustic atmosphere, this is the place for you. Authentic, delicious, and run with lots of love!

We had a great dinner. They serve traditional German food, and every meal we had was delicious. The atmosphere is cozy! The restaurant is very small, but we were lucky to get a table without a reservation. We would definitely visit it again.

True traditional german Stuttgart Restaurant, warm and very hospitable environment, familiar service, simply presented and excellently prepared traditional local dishes!

Service was superb. Food even better! And the portions were huge!! Great find close to the hotel.

We called today, completely spontaneously, and got a table for the evening—it was super easy. The food was delicious, the service attentive and friendly, and the prices absolutely fair. The rustic ambiance makes the whole experience even more cozy. Highly recommended; we loved it! We'll definitely be back next time we're in Stuttgart.

We wanted to make a reservation on a Monday evening with a larger group, but Ms. M. really wanted to push through her double occupancy (max. until 8 p.m.) and only give us a table for a maximum of two hours. We then switched to another wine house. Unfriendly and inflexible.

Food is not special. Beer was warm. Pity about the meat.

We had a great experience and time during our lunch! The restaurant proved to be an authentic German experience and the food was amazing, beer was fresh and cold, just the right thing after a day of visiting the city :) The people that served us were friendly, kind and were able to integrate us into the restaurant’s atmosphere!

Haven’t done a reviews in a while, but for this restaurant, I have to make one. The restaurant is really cozy (Only 4-5 tables) and the staff are very friendly. I got recommended by a friend. I ordered Zwiebelrostbraten mit Spätzle und Soße (Medium) turn out to be one of the best steak I ever had. Highly recommend.

Almost a must-visit if you're in Stuttgart. Early reservations are essential. The food is simply amazing and served without any frills. From the pancake soup to aspic and ox cheek salad, the cordon bleu is simply amazing 😉👍

For our last restaurant in Germany, we wanted to choose one specializing in Swabian dishes. Well we were not disappointed! The restaurant, with its architecture and small rooms, almost gives the impression of being in a private home and the staff is very pleasant. The dishes are very generous, typical and well cooked. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a restaurant serving regional cuisine!

Really highly recommended for lovers of a calm, well-kept but not hip atmosphere. The charm of the location lies not only in the crowd, the service and the menu, but also in the fact that you sit snuggled up together at well-aged wooden tables with others who, like the landlady, appreciate the entire atmosphere. Anytime again - if we get a place :-)

Typical and very friendly restaurant. We were seated next to 5 German friends who made us very welcome. Family spirit and real German cuisine. The cordon bleu and meatballs were delicious, as were the potatoes and mixed salad. We recommend!!!

Great inn with a lot of flair and super nice service. We came here on a recommendation and didn't regret it. Food was also super tasty. We definitely recommend the Maultaschen and the soups. If you like a schnapps afterwards you should try the apricot schnapps ;) Reservation is definitely recommended otherwise it could be difficult on the weekend.

Unfortunately there are only two vegetarian dishes, vegetarian Maultaschen and Kässpätzle, and not a single vegan one. Even the potato salad is made with meat broth. Even though traditional Swabian cuisine is very meat-heavy, it would be desirable to offer a few meat-free alternatives. Otherwise delicious wine, nice atmosphere.

Wir haben den unzähligen Hosenböden und Ärmeln welche Tische und Bänke poliert haben weitere hinzugeführt und es nicht bereut. Flädlesuppe, geschmälzte Maultaschen, Linsen mit Saiten, Rauchfleisch und Spätzle waren echt schwäbisch gut. Dazu regionaler Wein, was will man mehr. Reservierung wird empfohlen, Erdgeschoß ohne Stufen erreichbar, Damentoilette 1. Stock. Gut von der Haltestelle Charlottenplatz erreichbar.

Restaurant for local - where you can sit and chat with a beer and an aromatic schnitzel. One of the oldest restaurants in the city and very popular for tasting southern German wines.

A little nagging to make this weinstub a better place: The roast didn't taste like much despite the onions, which is probably due to the bland sauce. The taste experience of light red wines could also be improved if they were served a little colder than room temperature. But that's probably difficult in such a small and cozy wine bar. Happy ending: the roasted potatoes were outstanding. Crispy and juicy at the same time.

Rustic and typically Swabian economy

Despite the full house, we were lucky and managed to get a table for two. The Maultaschen and the cordon bleu were super tasty, and the cozy atmosphere was perfect. The Weinstube Zur Kiste is a real recommendation and we will definitely come back!

Great internal decoration, a place for places. The schnitzel wasn't that good unfortunately and the service had to speak bitterly in English. The beer always took forever. Due to lack of space, we were seated at tables of 6 with other solo travelers.

Great location in an inconspicuous place. The restaurant extends over several floors and feels very homely. Consistently good atmosphere, special requests no problem.

Ambiance is reminiscent of cider brooms. The staff is super friendly and the food was also great. In addition to the normal menu, there was Saure Nierle (is that how you write it?) They were extremely good. Went there spontaneously and without a reservation on October 15th, 2024 and got a place without any problems (for two) However, it is generally advisable to make a reservation; the restaurant was very full even on Tuesday.

You can have a great home-style meal here in a nostalgic atmosphere. The fried potatoes are fried crispy and there is food that is rarely offered in restaurants anymore... handmade!

An incredibly charming old-school Weinstube. What a rare find in this town! The bratwurst, Maultaschen and Spezi were excellent, the service so lovely, the details of the building (the little service elevator for food & dishes) full of history. Clientele mostly locals living their lives, mixed with a few tourists.

An unforgettable experience in the Weinstube Zur Kiste I had the pleasure of visiting Weinstube Zur Kiste in Stuttgart and I have to say it was an absolutely outstanding experience. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, exactly what you would expect from a traditional wine bar. The wine selection is impressive, with a variety of options to appeal to both the casual drinker and the wine lover. Every wine we tried was outstanding and paired perfectly with our food. But the real highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the meatballs. They were absolutely amazing - juicy, flavorful and perfectly prepared. It's obvious that the kitchen places great emphasis on quality and taste. Overall, our visit to the Weinstube Zur Kiste was an unforgettable experience. I can't wait to come back and try more of what this wonderful wine bar has to offer. An absolute must for anyone who appreciates good food and great wine.

Fantastic food and atmosphere in the City centre.If you are visiting Stuttgart you must have a meal here. It is small so best to book in advance. You will not be disappointed. Portions are generous and very reasonably priced. Phones not allowed.

The onion roast tastes heavenly, the fried potatoes served with it are a poem! We had a very nice evening in an authentic atmosphere! As befits a “Boiz”, you never sit alone at the table! The small bar on the ground floor and the hand-operated elevator to the kitchen are also quaint. We would love to come back (always)!

Ate here on a weekday evening while on a business trip. Menu is a bit limited with a lot of traditional Swabian food, think meat and 2 veg with some gravy. Positives; the onion gravy for the white sausage and potato dish was really tasty. The wines by the glass were in generous portions and also delicious with a great variety from a number of German regions. Service was really good from the ladies on front of house Negatives; The menu selections were a bit narrow and restricted to Protein and Carbo loaders! Worth a visit to taste a few German wines in the front tasting area on the right.

Six of us had dinner there on Saturday evening. Of course the restaurant was full, but there was enough space. The restaurant itself is relatively small, but is spread over three floors and is very rustically furnished. The food was very good with good portions. Typically Swabian. The waitresses were very friendly and attentive, but also direct and decisive - which was absolutely fine. We ate very well and had lots of drinks and paid an average of €45 for the six of us. Absolutely OK.
