Weinstube Castor in Treis-Karden

We spontaneously stopped by the Castor Winery for dinner. The service was very friendly and attentive, the food was incredibly delicious and fresh. The ambiance was also perfect, and we had a wonderful evening. We'll definitely come back next time we're in the area.

**Review of restaurant visit, not hotel** We were on the Moselle in Treis-Karden for a few days and took the opportunity to have dinner in the Castor restaurant in the town center. This is centrally located in the core of the city and welcomes you with a very modern and cozy atmosphere. The menu delights with Palatinate cuisine at reasonable prices and of course wine from the estate. We chose a dry Riesling which tasted very good. The service was great and the food served was well prepared and very tasty. The fried potatoes were an absolute hit. Sanitary “Tipi Toppi” and everything available. You can also buy wine and other delicacies in the shop. It was a very nice evening in the Castor winery restaurant, which we, Katja & Ralf, can highly recommend.

The review refers to the restaurant, not the hotel! As a main course we had the large salad with mushrooms and country bread, but unfortunately the bread was forgotten. When we asked about it, all we got was “oh, wasn’t that included?”. The other main course was the vegan sheep's cheese with tomatoes, olives and pepperoni. Unfortunately there was far too much oil in the mold, everything just tasted like oil. And because the oil was way too hot, the cheese almost completely melted. There were 3 pepperoni and three cherry tomato halves and a few olives on top. The portion was so small that it was impossible to get enough of it. There was also country bread. We complained about this and the dish was kindly taken off the bill. The bottle of water cost 5 euros, the same as our aperitif. In my opinion, that doesn't really fit with the pricing. Overall, neither the quality nor the price-performance ratio is right here. If my dish hadn't been taken off the bill, it would have been one point less.

Be careful of this hotel – absolutely dubious business practices! Our experience with the Hotel Wein- und Sektgut Castor in Treis-Karden was not only disappointing, but in parts simply scandalous. For a group of 17 people we had booked a double room for €90 including breakfast - confirmed in writing. Just a few days before our arrival, we were told in an extremely rude phone call that there was no space for our group. The manner of communication was not only unprofessional, but disrespectful - there was no trace of customer orientation. The hotel operator apparently did not feel the slightest obligation to provide an adequate replacement. On our initiative, alternative accommodation was only organized for a single room; we had to accommodate the rest ourselves in a holiday apartment in the neighboring town. This meant considerable organizational and time effort for us – not to mention the stress for the entire group. Even more scandalous: A couple in our group had to leave early - the money they had already paid was not refunded in part, even though the room was relet on the same day. This means: double income for the same service, which is not only morally questionable, but possibly also legally questionable. When we checked out, we discovered that breakfast was charged additionally - even though this was already included in the original offer and contractually guaranteed. When asked, the boss did not respond with insight or accommodating, but with loud accusations, blame and reference to “the taxes that she ultimately has to pay”. A completely unacceptable attitude towards paying guests. The only bright spot in this otherwise disastrous stay was the staff in the restaurant - friendly, helpful and clearly trying to make the guests feel good despite everything. Unfortunately, they too could not compensate for the catastrophic management. Conclusion: This hotel is neither reliable nor customer-friendly. Contractually guaranteed services were not provided, guests were treated disrespectfully and there were several questionable billings. Anyone who values ​​a minimum of professionalism and seriousness should give this house a wide berth.

Good wines, the right food - and all in a modern and attractive ambience: I feel very comfortable here

The review refers to the restaurant. Since we didn't sleep there, we can't say anything about the accommodation or the rooms. Unfortunately we were more than disappointed here. The wines were really good, but that's where it ends. And we didn't have any more of it after dinner (see below). The food wasn't particularly tasty and the portions were extremely small. I haven't had such a small schnitzel (farmer's schnitzel) in a restaurant for a long time and you could count the mushrooms on it on one hand. A side salad would also have to be ordered separately (although it's not on the menu, but in my opinion it would have been the minimum given the portion). After eating we sat there for more than half an hour without drinks, even though all the tables around us were served normally. No more orders were taken from us, so you get the feeling that whoever has eaten should leave quickly and make room for the next ones. When the waitress at least asked about the food, she simply ignored it. Came across a bit like “that’s just the way it is”. For us it was definitely the first and last time there. It's actually a shame, because the atmosphere is actually inviting and the wine selection is good. But the food was simply poor in terms of value for money and the service (at least that evening).

Very good wine, delicious food, cozy atmosphere, nice service - what more could you want?

We were in the restaurant on Sunday evening (2 adults, 1 child, 2 dogs). The place was full, but we didn't have to wait too long. The service was friendly and accommodating. I found the food very tasty. Great ambience, great wines. We would be happy to come back. Since we didn't rent a room there, I can't rate it.

Great restaurant, we sat outside on the heated terrace in the evening. Cozy atmosphere and good service. Listen to the wine recommendations of the waitresses. 😃

Wir sind dort zufällig eingekehrt und saßen draussen überdacht vor dem Eingang. Dort sorgten zwei Heizstrahler für angenehme Temperatur, denn draußen war schon recht kühl. Meine Frau hat das Rindergulasch genommen und war durchweg zufrieden. Ich hatte mich für das Schnitzel mit Champignonrahmsoße entschieden. Leider war das Schnitzel recht klein geraten und in der Soße fand ich nur wenig Pilz. Einem Salat gab es leider auch nicht. An dieser Stelle hatte Preis/Leistung leider überhaupt nicht gepasst. Die Bedienung war sehr nett und wir mussten auch nicht lange auf das Essen warten. Der Wein ist, wie fast überall in der Region, sehr zu empfehlen.

There were two of us in the restaurant and the price was the same, we should have paid €50.50 and we were charged €59, which we paid without thinking about what we had eaten (the advertised price). After we had taken stock 2 hours later, we noticed that we had been charged about €9 too much (that's not acceptable in such a high-quality restaurant). Then to then charge a surcharge for paying by card even though the menu says surcharge from €50, I don't think it's very customer friendly.

Unfortunately, if you pay by card you will be charged an extra 3 euros.

We received a very friendly welcome, our room and bathroom were very large. The dinner and breakfast were very good, the wine with the meal was also great. The location is great. We had nothing to complain about. We definitely recommend this hotel.

Very nice Weinstube with excellent large rooms. Bathroom was very nice. Delicious dinner and excellent breakfast. Hostess was very friendly and provided a nice welcome.

The inn is very nice. We stayed in an apartment with a balcony. Our dog was also welcome. We felt very comfortable. The breakfast was great and lovingly prepared at the table. In the evening you can end the evening beautifully in the wine bar. The location is very nice. Treis has a small market square with cafes and a beautiful beer garden by the water as well as a few wine bars in town. You can hike a beautiful hiking trail behind the church through the vineyards up to the cross. The view is great. Eltz Castle is not far and definitely worth a trip, as are Cochem and Beilstein. Very nice places to enjoy.

Very friendly welcome by the hostess. Very spacious rooms with every comfort. Extensive breakfast. In winter the restaurant is closed during the week. Open on Fridays and weekends. Recommended.

First class wines and first class food, what more could you want.... Yesterday for the first time there, as part of a birthday party, but not for the last time. The service was friendly and prompt despite the full house. The food, a three-course menu, was, as already mentioned above, very tasty, plus the coordinated ambience of the winery was great.

I booked 2 double rooms six months in advance, one of which explicitly had to be on the ground floor. 2 days before our arrival I asked again by phone whether our booking was going ahead. The answer to this was yes. On the day of arrival, the owner welcomed us directly with the words that the ground floor room had been rented to an older regular guest and was not available for us. What do I reserve for? The room offered on the 1st floor was not usable for us. Ms. Castor got really cheeky. She didn't help find another room in town either. Everything is definitely fully booked. Thanks for driving 300 km for nothing. I have never experienced anything like it. I would prefer to give 0 stars.

Vi var på en ukes sykkeltur i Moseldalen som var aldeles flott. Dette var ett av overnattingstedene i pakken fra vår reiseoperatør. Da vi ankom fikk vi følelsen av at de ikke hadde tid til oss pga vinproduksjonen og i tillegg var enkelte møbler og tepper på hotellet ganske nedslitt, så en litt skuffende opplevelse sammenlignet med resten av turen og overnattingsstedene.

Nice little hotel with great food. We ate there again on the second evening because it was so delicious. The rooms are clean and attractively furnished. The mattress was super comfortable. Breakfast was great both times. No buffet. The service was very friendly and you immediately felt welcome. Thanks for the time!

Let's start with the guest house, very well maintained house, nice clean rooms with shower, toilet and roof terrace. The wine bar is modernly furnished. 2 outdoor terraces that can also be heated. Good wines and delicious food. However, I deducted a star because you can In the wine bar you can only pay with card if you spend 50€ or more. Which individual can eat and drink for 50€? We couldn't even do that with two people.

Schöner Ort mit einem Jachthafen

Wir saßen in einem kleinen schnuckeligen Innenhof. Zum Start gab es einen sehr guten Sekt und als Vorspeise den Tappasteller - schöne Auswahl, perfekt für 2 Personen, lecker und das Brot fein und frisch. Die Tellergerichte waren rustikal und sehr schmackhaft - die Portionen ausreichend. Auch die Weine waren gefällig. Besonders gut haben uns die Liköre zum Espresso geschmeckt - hier haben wir auch je eine Flasche Haselnuss- und Brombeerlikör mitgenommen. Während des Besuchs hatten wir einen sehr aufmerksamen Service. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt und würden hier jederzeit wieder essen.

Wir waren auf der Suche was zu Essen. Viele Restaurants haben Mo und Die zu. Dieses zu unserem Glück nicht und es per Google vom Mörsdorf gefunden. Das Essen war super lecker , alles was wir zu uns genommen hatten . Preisleistung völlig in Ordnung, das Personal sehr freundlich. Danke schön.

Wir waren zum Abendessen da. Leider mussten wir lange auf unser Essen warten. Obwohl die Weinstube nur Hälfte belegt war. Die Dame mit den kurzen dunklen Haaren wirkte auch nicht wirklich motiviert. Auf Nachfrage zum Wein reagierte sie kurz angebunden mit dem Hinweis das die Nummer vom Flyer die gleichen wie auf der Karte sind und daher auch der gleiche Wein. Für uns war das nicht ersichtlich, da unterschiedliche Bezeichnungen vorhanden waren. Das Essen, 1 mal Schnitzel mit Pfeffersoße, ist nicht zu empfehlen. Pfeffersoße war Sahne mit roten Pfefferkörnern aber ohne Geschmack. Hähnchenschnitzel wirkte wie TK Ware ohne Konsistenz mit weicher Panade. Das Winzersteak mit Bratkartoffeln war sehr fettig und ohne Würzung. Salz und Pfeffer waren leider auch nicht auf dem Tisch. Zwar hätte man danach fragen können, aber leider haben wir auch nur das erste Getränk erhalten ohne Nachfrage ob wir noch etwas möchten. Obwohl die Bedienung mehrfach an den leeren Gläsern vorbei lief und auch den Besteckkorb mitgenommen hat. Für uns ein klares nein zum nochmaligen Besuch der Weinstube. Schade.

Sehr schöne Unterkunft, sehr nette Chefin. Wir waren im lila Zimmer untergebracht 👍Ausreichendes Frühstück. Sehr leckeren Wein und Essen in der eigenen Weinstube. Sehr gelungener Aufenthalt.

Zimmer war leider total schimmelbelastet. Super renoviert - aber der Geruch war fast unerträglich. Nur mit offenem Fenster auszuhalten. Schade.

Das beste Quartier auf unserer Mosel-Saar-Radtour! Modern und geschmackvoll. Die Küche ist vorzüglich. Es gibt auch deftiges wie "Dicke Bohnen".

Wir haben auf unserer Moselradwanderung hier eine Nacht übernachtet. Das Hotel liegt zentral, aber an der Hauptstraße durch den Ort. Der Empfang war relativ hektisch, was dich den Abend über auch durchzog. Die Zimmer sind groß, jedoch wäre eine Kofferablage, die nicht das Sofa ist, wünschenswert. Inkludiert war hier eine Weinprobe. Angenehm, dass die Uhrzeit für die Weinprobe flexibel war. Allerdings war die Chefin derart im Küchenstreß, so dass die Weinprobe zu einer Weinbegleitung zum Essen ausfiel. Die Erklärung waren leider auch nur kurz und nur zu dem gerade ausgeschänkten Wein. Schade, wir hätten gerne mehr erfahren und uns ausführlichere Infos gewünscht. Ein paar Weine waren ganz lecker, die wir auch gerne bei etwas mehr Service bestellthätten. Der Service ansonsten war freundlich. Das Essen war gut. Das Frühstück wird an jeden Tisch gebracht, Brötchen sind abgezählt für jeden Tisch. Cappuccino oder Latte macchiato können morgens nicht bestellt werden. Das geht nur abends in der Gaststube. Das Ei wird frisch zubereitet, was sehr schön ist.

Familie Castor ist sehr Bett und hilfsbereit. Frau Tonnes, die Angestellte, ist zauberhaft. Die Lage ist perfekt, nur 3 Min. und mann ist an der Mosel. Ein schöner Ort mit toller Bewirting. Auch die Kühe ist zu empfehlen und erst recht der eigene Wein ;-). Also, alles sehr, sehr ansprechend <3

Das Zimmer in der Weinstube Castor war gut ausgestattet (TV, Schrank, Sessel) sehr sauber und das Bad mit ebenerdiger Dusche sehr groß. Seife am Waschbecken war vorhanden, Shampoo etc in der Dusche leider nicht. Ein Haartrockner im Bad war ebenso vorhanden. Das Zimmer war über mehrere Treppen erreichbar. Trotz Betrieb in der Weinstube war es sehr ruhig. Durch Rolläden und Vorhänge konnte man das Zimmer eigentlich sehr gut verdunkeln, jedoch empfand ich persönlich das blaue Licht am Fernseher als sehr hell und nicht angenehm. Desweiteren bemerkten wir abends, dass wir ein Kissen mit Federn hatten, obwohl uns bei der Buchung zugesagt wurde, dass es nur federfreie Kissen in der Unterkunft gäbe. Angesichts der Uhrzeit wollten wir dann die Vermieter nicht mehr kontaktieren. Frühstück wurde angerichtet am Platz serviert (Brötchen, Croissant, Wurst, Schinken, Marmelade, Nutella etc). Wir wurden auch darauf aufmerksam gemacht, dass man frisch zubereitetes (echtes!) Rührei bekommen kann. Parkplätze gibt es hinter dem Haus zur Weinstube gehörend oder auf der Straße (tagsüber evtl. mit Parkscheibe). Für den Abend wurde auch eine kurzfristige Tischreservierung in der gut besuchten Weinstube ermöglicht. Die Hausherrin war sehr entgegenkommend bezüglich unserer Buchung und hat proaktiv in unserem Sinne gehandelt. (Vielen Dank!)

Das Castor ist urig, also Typisch Weinstube. Viele leckere Weine in der Auswahl, zu top Preisen! Das Essen erinnerte eher an Kantine, aber das ist wahrscheinlich auch den Preisen geschuldet! Wenn die Karte so günstig ist kann man auch wenig erwarten. Leider mussten wir 1 Stunde aufs Essen warten. Deshalb insgesamt nur 3 Sterne.

Wir hatten die Weinstube Castor im September 2021 für eine Woche gebucht,uns ist 4Tage vor Anreise abgesagt worden. Sehr unfreundlich wurde uns gesagt,man hätte unsere Buchung übersehen,sie hätte eine Gruppe angenommen.Ich hatte eher das Gefühl,das man uns los werden wollte,da wir letztes Jahr die Ferienwohnung günstig gebucht hatten. Wir fanden das ungeheuerlich und sind stinksauer. Man hat uns dann noch unter Druck gesetzt die Wohnung innerhalb einer Stunde selbst zu stonieren. Eine frechheit ohne

Diese Weinstube überzeugt mit ihrer Unaufgeregtheit: die Speisekarte ist einfach, die Weine (wir haben die Gelegenheit genutzt, gleich mehrere zu probieren), sind durchwegs gut. Hier lässt es sich in entspannter Atmosphäre plaudern - bis die freundliche Bedienung uns an die Sperrstunde erinnerte (an diesem Sonntag abend um 22 Uhr). Wir kommen gerne wieder.
