The Tragedy of Sommerfeld - A fairy tale from the world of the culinary apocalypse Once upon a time there was a hungry soul who set out on a long journey in the hope of filling his empty stomach with delicious food. Word of a legendary place called Sommerfeld had spread across the country, a restaurant that was supposed to be blessed by the gods of star cuisine. So I set off with an empty stomach and full of expectations - and was bitterly disappointed. Arrival at the Temple of Sterility As soon as I entered this culinary mausoleum, I felt a strange feeling. The interior was reminiscent of a mix between an art gallery and an operating room. Cool colors, minimalist furniture and a silence so oppressive that even a whispered sentence was considered inappropriate. You hardly dared to breathe, let alone speak. A solemn atmosphere, as if you were in the holy hall of the priests of taste - but without holiness, without life, without soul. The Card - A joke in several acts With shaking hands, I picked up the menu, hoping for some revelation. Instead, I read cryptic words like fermented pointed cabbage with pickled root and dashi beurre blanc. Sounded like an alchemical formula for a magic potion, but probably tasted more like wet paper with the essence of hubris. The prices – oh, the prices! - were of such a height that it was thought that each plate contained a divine message engraved with gold edges. The moment of starvation Then came the food - or rather, what they thought it was. On a huge stoneware bowl, reminiscent of a feeding bowl for noble greyhounds, lay a meager composition of three drops of a reduced essence, an artfully arranged lettuce leaf and a forkful of protein element. I looked at my plate. My plate looked back at me. My stomach twisted in horror. I ate. And I died. Not physically – no, worse. I died emotionally, spiritually, culinary. Every bite was a taste of nothing. The taste was so subtle it was practically non-existent. I chewed on the concepts of modern culinary philosophy that promised me an explosion of flavor - instead it was a silent, empty vacuum. A tribute to the absolute insignificance of haute cuisine. The service – the great silence The waiters floated across the floor as if they were part of a theater production where emotions were not allowed. I dared to ask for a drinks menu. People looked at me like I asked for fries at the opera. When a glass of water finally landed on my table - quietly and silently - I knew: This was not a place for hungry people, but for those who gnaw at their own elitist self-image. The end of an odyssey When the bill came, I was overcome by another sense of dying - this time of a financial nature. For the amount that was asked for here, I could have bought a whole suckling pig and its own grill hut. I paid with tears in my eyes. Not out of emotion, but out of pure regret. And so I left the summer field—hungry, broke, and enriched by an experience I wouldn't wish on an enemy. Maybe, I thought, the real secret to Michelin-starred cuisine is not the taste, but the ability to get people to pay for nothing. I'll never know. Because I'm never coming back here. One star – for the unintentional comedy.

Stylishly furnished restaurant with some designer furniture. I think it's nice that you have to ring the bell. Makes it more exclusive. Service is friendly, empathetic and focused on the guest right from the start. I find it interesting that the bread comes in between and not at the beginning. Food was wonderfully prepared and tasteful. For me, the celery baked in salt dough (amuse bouché) remains in my memory. With my accompaniment the pear tart tartin. I think you're well on the way to a Michelin star again👍.

I dropped in without a reservation and before the normal dinner crowd arrived. I was delighted when they agreed to find me some room. The servers were highly attentive and very nice with everything they did. The menu is a fixed price tasting menu with an optional wine pairing. I opted for both and was delighted with the tastes and textures delivered to me directly from the kitchen staff who prepare the food. Each dish came with a verbal description, and the wine was always served with details of the flavors, the wibery and wine maker, and why it pairs well with the food. I was pleased with all aspects of my 2.5 hr experience.

After the reopening, everything is perfect for us. Interesting sequence of dishes, each one a highlight in its own right, right up to the dessert. The sauces deserve special mention, for us the famous icing on the cake. Wine recommendations are also excellent. You sit very well and you have the feeling of being at home, cozy and extremely relaxing. The careful and never intrusive operation contributes to this. Depending on the table, you also have a view of the kitchen, where the chefs are concentrating and calmly doing their work. The prices for the menu correspond to the overall impression. Absolutely a recommendation and an enrichment of the gastronomic offer.

Eating and drinking 4 Service 5 Ambiance 5 *Review Restaurant Weinsinn* Very professional service, very attentive and willing to talk. Very nice and tasteful location in an interesting location. Why only 4 stars for food? The food on its own would have barely achieved a 5. However, I found the non-alcoholic drinks selection to be too limited. This in combination with a red mullet course, which I personally didn't fully understand, leads to the 4 stars. The mackerel course and the chanterelle course were excellent, the duck was terrific! According to his statement, my companion's wine pairing was very interesting and exciting. Absolutely recommended with minimal restrictions.

Outstanding. We took the six course menu for spring. The food was sublime (as one would expect) and the wine pairings were also excellent. I was mostly impressed with the service. It really does make such a difference to the evening when the staff are so good. We had a wonderful time and I hope I can visit again someday.

We enjoyed a 6 course menu. Not all courses were equally great. The interior is beautiful yet casual so we could feel at ease, not stiff at all. Clear advice on wine but not very talkative.

We dined here for a special occasion. The food was very tasty, beautiful plates, interesting dishes and an exquisite wine list round off the gourmet cuisine. The interior is very stylish and contemporary or accentuated with avant-garde. We felt very comfortable and would like to come back.

We were able to enjoy a wonderful evening: the 6-course menu was a complete success. It is very varied, perfectly prepared, completely unusual, simply a pleasure from start to finish. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very nice and informal at the same time, the staff is friendly, attentive and unobtrusive. Unfortunately, we are allergic to mussels, but it was absolutely no problem for the kitchen to spontaneously prepare an alternative course for us. Overall a great evening at Weinsinn. The foods were all spot on, which come with a nice choice of wine recommended by the staff. The staffs were all also really friendly and helpful. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very cozy and beautiful simply arranged. There were but quite a long waiting time between the main courses, which i don't know if it's normal or we were just unlucky that day. It was not really a big problem for us though as we had the whole evening free :D

Very nice restaurant, with the best food I've ever eaten!

Extremely friendly staff. The food was very good, but some of it didn't suit our taste. Unfortunately only vegetarian and no vegan menus. The ambience is interesting. Wonderful in the restaurant. A not so attractive neighborhood right outside the door. But that also makes it somehow interesting. Overall, a very nice evening at WeinSinn.

Das Weinsinn ist ein wahres gastronomisches Highlight mitten im Bahnhofsviertel. Jedes Gericht des Menüs war wunderschön präsentiert und sehr lecker. Die Weinempfehlungen hierzu waren perfekt abgestimmt. Wir hatten den idealen Platz, um aus der Ferne die offene Küche einzusehen. Die Köche sind ein absolut eingespieltes Team und arbeiten super konzentriert und sauber mit viel Liebe zum Detail, was man jedem Teller ansieht. Das aufmerksame Personal und die einladende Atmosphäre machen das Weinsinn zu etwas ganz besonderem.

What a location! The well composed but one dimensional dishes were served in fine order from refreshing to savory. Still I missed variation and texture. Also I wasn't quite satisfied with the time management as people arriving half an hour later caught up with me around the 5th course and received the desert even earlier. Served by 5 different members of the staff, including chefs, they threw full knowledge and potential to the table. Decent wine selection, glass got topped up diligently. [visited in July, 2022, restaurant owned 1 Michelin star at this time]

Schon lange will ich endlich mal ins Weinsinn, habe es aber bislang nur einmal in einer größeren Gruppe geschafft. Wir hatten ein separat vereinbartes Menü, daher war das vielleicht auch nicht repräsentativ. Denn in Summe fand ich es sehr gut, aber nicht top. Der Service lässt keine Wünsche offen, die Weine sind durchweg gut, aber gerade beim Essen fehlte für meine Begriffe das „Wow“. Ich glaube, ich muss einfach nochmal hin und diesmal das Menü ausprobieren.

Von Anfang bis Ende wurde ich von der Hingabe und Leidenschaft des Teams für herausragende kulinarische Erlebnisse beeindruckt. Das Restaurant selbst ist stilvoll und einladend gestaltet, mit einer warmen Atmosphäre und einem Hauch von Eleganz. Die Speisekarte im Weinsinn ist eine wahrhaftige Ode an die kulinarische Kreativität. Jeder Gang war meisterhaft zubereitet und präsentierte eine harmonische Mischung aus innovativen Aromen und erstklassigen Zutaten. Jeder Bissen war ein Fest für die Sinne und zeugte von der meisterhaften Handwerkskunst der Küchencrew. Besonders beeindruckend war die Weinbegleitung, die das kulinarische Erlebnis auf die nächste Ebene hob. Die sorgfältig kuratierte Weinkarte bot eine Auswahl an erlesenen Tropfen, die perfekt auf die einzelnen Gerichte abgestimmt waren und die Aromen voll zur Geltung brachten. Das Fachwissen und die Empfehlungen des Sommeliers rundeten das Erlebnis ab. Der Service im Weinsinn war ebenso erstklassig. Das Personal war aufmerksam, freundlich und stets bemüht, alle Wünsche zu erfüllen. Sie waren jederzeit bereit, Hintergrundinformationen zu den Gerichten zu geben und die kulinarische Reise zu erklären. Insgesamt war mein Besuch im Weinsinn ein unvergessliches Erlebnis. Dieses Restaurant ist zweifellos eine Perle in der Frankfurter Gastronomieszene und verdient höchste Anerkennung. Für alle, die nach einer außergewöhnlichen kulinarischen Erfahrung suchen, ist das Weinsinn der perfekte Ort, um sich verwöhnen zu lassen und sich von einem Hauch von Genialität verzaubern zu lassen.

Ergänzungen 2023: Gestern haben wir wieder das wunderbare Essen im Weinsinn genossen. Wir versuchen mindestens einmal im Jahr hier zu essen, weil wir jedes Mal überrascht, verliebt und glücklich sind. Für mich wird hier absolute Herzensküche gekocht! Meine Frau ist schwanger, das hatten wir bei der Reservierung mitgeteilt. Für jedes der Gerichte gab es, ohne weitere Nachfragen, entweder eine Alternative oder aber den Hinweis, dass gewisse Komponenten fehlen, weil sie nicht verträglich sein könnten. Einen besseren Service kann ich mir nicht vorstellen! Sowohl das Essen als auch die begleitenden Weine waren wunderbar! Bei diesem Besuch war ein Pilzgericht mein absolutes Highlight! Schon jetzt freue ich mich auf den nächsten Besuch! Wir haben heute ein phantastisches Abendessen genossen. Die Weinbegleitung war perfekt. Ganz besonders loben möchte ich den fröhlich lockeren uns und sehr kompetenten Service!

Modern, minimalistisch, exzellent. Küche auf höchstem Niveau. Die begleitenden Weine passten hervorragend zu den handwerklich perfekten, teilweise sehr raffinierten, Gängen. Schöne, ruhige und angenehme Atmosphäre. Die Mitarbeiter sind höflich und sehr nett.

Ausgezeichnete Zusammenstelllung des großen Menüs, Speisen und Teller wie gemalt und von einer großen Leidenschaft fürs Kochen geprägt. Reduktion aufs wesentliche bei großer Vielfalt der einzelnen Geschmackselemente. Hervorragende Wein. Großzügiges Ambiente lockerer Service.

Wonderful experience in Frankfurt. It deserves another star next year. The place is sort of hidden in the middle eastern sector, and the interior has the old high ceiling structure decorated with a modern pop culture approach, which brings some freshness to the dining experience. Ganz kurz zusammengefasst: Super Service, top Essensqualität und am besten hat mir die Stille im Restaurant gefallen, optimal für ein schönes Abenddinner.

The food wast a very interesting interpretation, that I really enjoyed. The only exception was the redfish and artichoke course, where the taste was a bit too metallic for me. But that’s a personal opinion. On the other hand, I was a bit disappointed of the service, especially for a Michelin Star Restaurant. Not only the serving time was a bit too long towards the last courses, but our waiter was a bit unfriendly, being generally hasty, not taking the time to explain the wine menu. Maybe it was an off day, being also a busy friday, but all in all an ok experience. Thank you!

Amazing! Best dinner of my life.

Ich kann nur Gutes sagen! Für mich das beste Restaurant, welches ich bisher in Frankfurt besucht habe. Das Essen ist kreativ und sehr lecker, der Service unaufdringlich, aber immer präsent (man sehe vom Hilfskellner ab; der ist eher lustig ahnungslos) und das Ambiente gemütlich modern. Das alles hat seinen Preis - aber den zahlen wir für dieses Erlebnis gern und sicher noch mehrmals in der Zukunft!

Gestern haben wir einen schönen Abend genossen, netter Empfang, stilvolles Ambiente, schöne und hochwertige Gläser und Geschirr. Das Essen war absolut über dem Niveau eines einzelnen Sternes im Guide Michelin ! Viele hervorragende vegetarische Gänge wechselten sich mit Fisch und schliesslich einem ausgezeichneten Hirschgericht ab. Die Präsentation der einzelnen Gänge war vorbildlich. Wir hatten neben einem sensationell guten Champagner die kleine Weinbegleitung, die zielsicher vom Restaurantleiter Florian Bechtel ausgesucht wurde. Hier wurden ein paar kleine Twists eingebaut, die uns als Gäste aber nie überfordert haben. Hier zeigte sich auch das hohe Maß an Empathie uns gegenüber. Wenn dann auch noch der Espresso besser schmeckt als bei den meisten Italienern, wurde hier alles richtig gemacht. Vielen Dank und wir kommen gerne wieder

Es war rundum ein gelungener Abend, sehr fein zusammengestelltes Menü, super Weinkarte und Empfehlungen und perfekter Service.

Das Essen war absolute Spitzenklasse! Wahnsinns Qualität & die Präsentation der Speisen: ganz großes Kino. Leider war das Ambiente sehr steril, kühl und ungemütlich. Die Tische standen so nah beieinander, dass jedes Gespräch vom Tisch Nachbarn ohne Probleme mitgehört werden konnte. Das Klientel passte zum Ambiente. Perfektes Essen, aber gesamt Konzept leider nicht stimmig.

Das Personal ist sehr aufmerksam und auf jeden Fall fachkundig! Das Ambiente ist etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig aber besonders! Das Menue war sehr wohlschmeckend.
