A really chic restaurant. Despite the fact that there were 10 of us there, drinks and food came quickly and still hot. The food was very tasty and we were all full and happy afterwards.

There are many delicious German restaurants in Esslingen, but this one is of a high standard. The Zubibel roast braten is the best and I always order it. The interior has a very southern German feel and is very comfortable. Esslingen survived the air raids, so its old townscape remains very beautiful.

Always a great experience. The food is simply delicious. Very high praise for the service, always friendly and accommodating.

Unfortunately the restaurant couldn't convince us. Luckily we were able to get a place without a reservation. Service and ambience were also good. But that's about it for the positive, because unfortunately the food couldn't convince any of us. Spaetzle very bland (probably bought in, but it didn't feel like the "good ones"). Everyone's sauces were very thin, we all had to add more salt and the cheese spaetzle were burnt, so that one side of the pan was a burnt cheese mass and on the other side the spaetzle were just in oil. We won't come again because of the experience.

Stunning restaurant, fantastic service and the food was delicious. We were a party of 9 and the food all arrived at the same time, and all cooked perfectly. Beautiful environment, lots of character. Will definitely be coming back!

Anyone who likes Swabian cuisine will love Unicorn. From the "schlotzig" potato salad to the perfectly cooked onion roast, from the Vesper with Schmalztöpfle and various Maultaschen variants, you will find everything your heart desires. My personal highlight (and that divides people) is “Sour Nierle in Trollingersoßle with fried potatoes”. The chef competes with my grandma and the feeling of home that goes with it and it was exactly how it should taste. How lucky am I? Thanks for that. A great service team accompanies you throughout the evening and, despite the restaurant being full, is very attentive, always smiling and really nice and friendly. Cheers to a team like that. The ambience is the next highlight. Everything is lovingly rustic, little eye-catchers but not intrusive or overloaded. A real little journey through time. I completely understand why it makes sense to make a reservation and I went out there with my girls last night and we are already planning the next visit. All four of us women were very enthusiastic. All in all 6 out of 5 stars...

Very tasty and cozy restaurant. Prices are reasonable and the meals are also very sufficient and tasty. The service was courteous and funny. Would love to eat there again if I can.

Since then I have been enthusiastic about this restaurant, have recommended it to everyone I know and have raved about it highly, even often organizing business lunches with important customers there. I've been eating there myself for almost a year now and I'm very disappointed, almost shocked, by it. Spaetzle has obviously been bought now (and not the good ones, unfortunately), as has the potato salad apparently. The roast roast sauce, which used to have a similar consistency and color to balsamic cream (fantastic!), is now more reminiscent of thickened meat broth. Very, very unfortunate! I used to love it here... Only the lady who served us could get any plus points because she was really very friendly, helpful and accommodating. I just hope we just had a bad day and the criticism is properly acknowledged and something is done about it. Maybe we'll try again later in the year and hopefully have better luck!

Nice restaurant, obviously located in the (wine) cellar. Located in the middle of the town, you need to park close by. Service is friendly, when entering the restaurant you will pass the kitchen ( and other dinner areas). The cellar is located in the back with a couple of stairs to take. The room has a nice touch but mainly made of stone. We had steak for dinner as this place is famous for it. This is recommended, as it was really good. I just had a beer but there is a large wine selection. Nice place to have dinner.

After several recommendations, we finally went to the Unicorn! The six of us had a wonderful table, even a table, in the basement, the wine cellar. This wonderful vaulted cellar is not only historically ancient, but also really authentically furnished. The classic Swabian dishes taste delicious and leave nothing to be desired! The portions are also quite generous, so you really get something for your money. The extensive wine list, which has many fine wines to offer, is worth noting. The dishes are presented by really nice waitresses Overall, you can have a very nice and, above all, delicious time here. Everything is harmonious and absolutely Swabian!

Large portions, onion roast very tasty but partially overdone. I would prefer a little too many roasted potatoes for my taste, a little less and then a small salad bouquet. There is still room for improvement in the Kaiserschmarrn. Otherwise we had a pleasant evening, the staff were very attentive and friendly.

A quaint restaurant with good food and a great waiter. Also recommended in conjunction with an event at the Neckar Forum, as it is within walking distance (max. 10 minutes) and can be parked in the Neckar Forum car park.

Guten Tag, wir wollten eine Kleinigkeit trinken. Um 17.30Uhr keine warme Getränke mehr, also Aperol Spritz Mango- und einen Sarti Spritz (Agrumen). Sehr wenig Prosecco und der künstliche Sirup von Sarti….furchtbar. So ein schlechtes Getränk, mit einem chemischen Geschmack sowie die farbe, habe ich echt noch nie getrunken. Unsere Getränke wurden in 1 min. Vorbereitet, er hatte es eilig um 18Uhr zu schliessen. Außerdem Salz/Pfeffer vom Kaufland auf dem Tisch und ein wunderschönes Plastikblümchen 🙈 …. neeeee des net….Das Lokal hat echt ein riesiges potential, die Position ist TOP aber leider wenig interesse…….oder Ahnung? Nie wieder.

I highly recommend Weinkeller Einhorn, we liked everything. Large menu with German dishes, very nice service, food was served quickly, the atmosphere is beautiful. We chose ratatouille vegetables with zucchini, potato gratin and onion roast. The prices are acceptable.

Very comfortable, but there's no chance of getting a seat without a reservation. It's all a bit cramped and it doesn't detract from the coziness. We'd love to come back👍

The food was very tasty. The employees are very nice. There was free cherry yogurt for dessert. Simply great for dinner.

We invited our parents. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with our food, the spaetzle were dried spaetzle from a bag. It's a shame for a Swabian restaurant. The sauce was a cream/flour mush. Price/performance really didn't fit. The tripe and roast beef were okay.

We were there with a group of 14 people. It was even possible to change reservations at short notice. The service was quick, friendly and always there. The food was excellent. All of this coupled with the location and the ambience simply results in a full score of 6 out of 5 stars! Thanks to the entire team from service to kitchen. We were all thrilled. Very cozy restaurant that we would also like to visit in the evening. It is very commendable that there was a lunch offer for under €10. The price/performance ratio of the other dishes is also absolutely fine. We even got a small dessert (red jelly with cream) for free. We would be happy to come back.

First time visiting the city of Esslingen. The food is delicious, the service is very good & friendly, and the restaurant is unique. Highly recommend eating here! Will definitely recommend it to friends in Indonesia who visit here.

Als Norddeutscher gab es endlich mal echte Linsen mit Spätzle. Die einfachen Gerichte sind ja oft die schwierigsten, hier schmeckt es. Gemütliche Atmosphäre mit sehr aufmerksamen Service.

Very nice, rustic wine bar with three individually designed guest rooms. The old wine cellar is definitely cozy, the ambience matches the traditional Swabian menu. The service was quick and the food came very quickly - we only sat for 15 minutes. There is also a selection of dishes for vegetarians and the option of having a vegetarian broth for the soups. Unfortunately, the taste of the Maultaschen and the dessert (apple cake) was not in proportion to the price quoted. In both dishes, old-tasting fat overshadowed the taste of the Maultaschen and apples. The wine, which cost €11.20 a glass, was also rather simple and the aromas described on the menu could hardly be tasted. Unfortunately it wasn't possible to give feedback either - the bill was put down without asking whether we liked it or liked it and we were allowed to leave the restaurant without saying goodbye. Maybe we had a bad day - all in all we had hoped for more. Maybe there will be a second chance to take a photo of the invoice date and the amount.

Beautiful rustic guest house. Service very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately I can't agree with the reviews about the quality of the food. The ratio of side dishes to the actual dish is very much at the expense of the side dish. See pictures. From our point of view, the price-performance ratio is unfortunately not right. We are of the opinion that the potatoes as a side dish and in a salad do not come fresh but from a bucket or bag. Please evaluate for yourself whether the price-performance ratio is right. We had a good evening in this restaurant. Overall it was ok, but unfortunately the food from my companions was far too salty. You could also tell that the waitress was very overwhelmed. I actually wouldn't go to Esslingen again because of this restaurant.

We celebrated a birthday with a company of 5 people. It was very, very difficult to book a table, although we wrote to them in advance. Everything is booked for the weekend, a month in advance. Therefore, they were forced to come on Thursday. By the way, they answer without any respect or interest in clients. No alternative dates are offered. This institution attracted interest because it is located in an old building, authentic and cozy from the outside. But this is probably the only charm of this establishment. The food was tasteless, oversalted ratatouille, almost raw "medium rare" steak. Also, the price is high for very small portions. The wine is good, tasty. Fortunately, it was impossible to spoil it, because the bottle was corked))) The waitress is all "in the soap" and does not have time to meet all the customers. The room is filled with so many tables that visitors are forced to rub off each other. Horror. Noisy, like a bazaar. It does not smell like comfort. We will never return and do not advise anyone. Disappointment and a waste of money.

We ate there with 4 people on October 26th. Waited 40 minutes for the food. And then 2 people got their food and the others were served a meat loaf that they had ordered garnet. So wait another 20 minutes. It was a birthday dinner. But unfortunately very disappointed 😞 Despite reservations. But the fact that you have to eat alone in stages doesn't work at all 😭 sorry

The right place for lovers of upscale traditional cuisine and a wonderfully authentic ambience from the Middle Ages. Highly recommended and best with reservation. You can sit upstairs in one of the beautifully decorated rooms or downstairs in a historic vaulted cellar. There are no dedicated parking spaces, but you can find some in one of the surrounding parking garages. You can go in with children, but perhaps not with very small children.

We came here for an evening meal on a recommendation....and very glad we did. We all ate traditional food with us all having the roast beef with onions. I had mine with roast potatoes, delicious! A good local white wine and schnapps to end. Good service and tasty food.

I had the filet steak and potatoes and bread pudding for dessert. It was so good. I can't wait to go back.

Nice atmosphere and delicious food There are a lot of slightly different menus, so it might be a good idea to check out what they have in advance. Desserts such as baked apples and ice cream are also delicious, so you can eat, drink, and have dessert in one go at this restaurant. The cooking level is similar to the attached photo when ordering rare. Oh, and cell phones don't work in the basement, so be careful if you use a translation app.

One of the best breweries I have made in my life. A magical atmosphere in this basement with these candles and this smell of stone/fireplace in which you feel warm! The food was really excellent and the prices are not exaggerated for a brasserie with fresh and homemade dishes (counting between 10 and 40€ for the menu per person), without forgetting that these are the local specialties and my god that it was good! The staff were really lovely and very dynamic, speaking English and German as well as French. The waiting time is not long personally. Furthermore, the latter accompany the card with a booklet with illustration to avoid making a mistake when ordering, which is very well thought out for foreigners like me and my girlfriend. I highly recommend! 😋

We were in the wine cellar with 60 people on November 2nd for our fire brigade trip. The great cellar, which is over 700 years old, is beautifully and stylishly furnished. The food was consistently delicious. The portions are good and plentiful. And the service was great. Despite the many simultaneous orders, everything went very quickly and well. And the prices are absolutely appropriate for the service and performance. The Einhorn is a great restaurant with great food and ambience in the beautiful old town of Esslingen.

The service was attentive and friendly. The ambience in the wine cellar was breathtaking. Unfortunately, the food was not at the level we expected. We had onion roast with fried potatoes and deer ragout. As a starter we had a cheese platter with Obazda. And for dessert Kaiserschmarn with cranberries. Unfortunately, we didn’t like it. The vine was good.

We went there for dinner for the first time today and found it extremely cozy, drinks and food arrived quickly even though all the seats were occupied. The service was very friendly and the onion roast and the unicorn pan with medallions tasted excellent. Portion sizes are okay. At €70 for 2 drinks including drinks, we were happy with the price, but the rustic atmosphere is really nice and you immediately feel at home. It's best to make a reservation, it's always pretty full :)

The Unicorn is a fabulous wine bar. There are various wonderfully decorated rooms, one of which is a vaulted cellar that is over 700 years old. The food is very good value for money, tasty, fresh and very Swabian. But vegetarians can also find delicious food. The atmosphere is hustle and bustle and very pleasant.

The Einhorn is what you would imagine a Swabian, home-style restaurant to be. Unfortunately, there are hardly any places like this anymore. The service was tip top. Extremely friendly and very accommodating. The food was impeccable. And the price for the daily recommendation in terms of quality can be considered very affordable. We were thrilled and would love to come back.

They were able to take us in even though they were booked solid. 6 of us bumbling Americans in a historic, medieval town. Food, wine, the restaurant itself was amazing. Our waitress was not friendly and was impatient with us, but that truly is my only complaint. Everything else was amazing.

We came here spontaneously one evening. It was well attended. Personally, it was a little too dark in the wine cellar for me. I had the rump steak with fried potatoes which was very good, but I found the portion to be a bit too small, a small side salad would have been good for the whole thing. Nevertheless, it was very tasty. My friend had the unicorn salad with chicken.

Super delicious Swabian cuisine, friendly people and a unique, rustic atmosphere!

We went to the Einhorn wine cellar for a birthday dinner. We were guided by the good reviews on Google Maps. We had reserved in advance and therefore had no problems finding a place. I can recommend this place for a Saturday evening as it was packed when we visited. The atmosphere in the cellar is very pleasant. It's really dark for a restaurant, but the well-chosen lights illuminate the most important places at a good level. Although the food is not prepared in the basement but in the kitchen upstairs, it was relatively warm here. The service staff is very nice and professional. We never felt unseen or annoyed. There was always a smile, no matter which employee we had in front of us. Most of us ordered an onion roast. Some had fried potatoes as a side dish, others spaetzle. The meat was mostly ordered medium well-done, but some also wanted their meat well done. In the end, all roasts were fried relatively similarly, medium to medium-rare. Regardless, the roast was relatively tasty. The onions, however, didn't convince everyone of us. I had fried potatoes as a side dish and they tasted good. In general, the food in the Einhorn wine cellar is good, but it cannot justify the prices the restaurant charges. I don't have much to complain about in anything else and that's why I'm giving it four stars.

Very good Swabian cuisine with a great selection of wines. Regardless of whether you sit in the rustic rooms or outside, a visit to Einhorn is highly recommended. We were there with a large group. Whether with meat, vegetarian or gluten-free - there was something for everyone. The potato salad is a poem, just like a good Swabian one should be. Maultaschen are great, whether vegetarian or with meat - in all variations. There are classics like Aofelküchle at the bedside table. Everything is fresh and delicious and there is a great selection of regional wines. Despite the restaurant being full, the service was friendly and tried to make everything right. Top!

My experience is a bit older. I ate there on June 24th. The ambience is unique. The old vaulted cellar also provides some coolness. Unfortunately my food was really bad. I had asparagus with potatoes. It didn't taste like anything. Perhaps these dishes are cooked in advance and left in the water. The waiter also brought the wrong bill and was overall very unfriendly. I hope it was an exceptional day.

Restaurant with a nice atmosphere - but with somewhat uncomfortable chairs outside, as the seat cushions are significantly smaller than the seat area. The food was nothing special, but good - except for the green salad, which was unfortunately a while past its prime. We had reserved for 7:00 p.m. and were allowed to place orders at 7:35 p.m. 5 minutes later we were informed that the food will take a long time as a large reservation ordered just before us. When we wanted to find out what we meant by long, a black-haired lady came from the service and was so unfriendly and outraged that we asked for information. Otherwise the staff was super friendly.

A beautiful Swabian restaurant. The food was very good. The staff very friendly and attentive. And there was even a greeting from the kitchen, which fortunately my companion declined.

We have known each other for years and always enjoyed coming over. It was restored and renovated some time ago, now everything is in order and I find it very nice and well maintained. If you have any idea about Swabian cuisine then you will be very well served here. Of course there are other dishes too, but you can only experience the best traditional cuisine here. The price is okay and I even think it's very good compared to other restaurants. Staff is very friendly and nice. Restaurant building just like it has been for hundreds of years, a special address and always a good atmosphere.

We came to the Unicorn without a reservation and were able to take a seat. We liked it very much. Very nice and rustic decor. And the food was delicious. Our choice was melted Maultaschen with onions and lettuce and sour tripe with fried potatoes. We enjoyed it very much. Good portions and very tasty. The service was also very nice and serving was quick. We will be very happy to come back. There are still lots of delicious dishes to try.
