Weinhaus Merowingerhof in Andernach

After visiting the Andernach thermal baths, we decided to end the evening at the Merowingerhof wine tavern based on the positive reviews – and we weren't disappointed! A truly cozy place with a large selection of wines, vegetarian and even vegan options, and a very authentic and friendly owner. Highly recommended! 😊

The quality of the food was excellent, with a compelling flavor and attractive presentation. Even the wait time was pleasant. We were on vacation in Andernach. For dinner, we saw the Merowingerhof winery online. We were seated right in front of the restaurant. We ordered drinks, but when it came to ordering food, we were told the kitchen was overloaded and the next order would be in 30 minutes! So, no food. When you run a restaurant, you know how many seats you have and how the kitchen should be set up accordingly. Bottom line: we won't be back. Too bad. Location: 5 stars. Food: 0 stars. Drinks: OK. 3 stars.

We were guests here this evening. The Rpst was fantastic. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Even though we didn't make a reservation, we were lucky enough to get a table in the lovely courtyard. We'll definitely stop here again next time we're in Andernach. Many thanks to the wonderful team.

What a lovely restaurant in the old town of Andernach. The weather was beautiful so we had dinner outside on the terrace. Very friendly and helpful staff. We had a lovely fish dish with salad and potatoes and spätzle. Very well prepared.

Auch wenn das Ambiente durchaus schön ist, war ich über die Preise und „Menge“ auf dem Teller sehr überrascht. Kalbsleber mag zwar teuer sein, aber für 7 Stückchen ( nicht größer als ein Daumen) ist es fast unverschämt. Ob das Kartoffelpüree selbst gemacht ist ,wage ich zu Bezweifeln. Mehrfach wurden Lebensmittel aus der Kühlkammer an uns vorbei getragen die sehr sehr nach Großmarkt Ware aussgehen haben u.a. ein Stück Fleisch das wohl in der Metro gekauft wurde. Und wenn man einen „lieblichen“ Rotwein bestellt und mir ein halbtrocknen hinstellt habe ich mich schon sehr gewundert. Für knapp 30 Euro war ist sehr enttäuscht. Die Bedienung allerdings war super freundlich und sehr nett! 95 Euro für zwei Personen war es mir ein Lehre.

Wir hatten im Nebenraum mit Kamin Platz bekommen. Sehr nett dort drin, allerdings hatten wir den Tisch genau gegenüber der Eingangstür. Da zog es jedes mal kalt rein, wenn jemand Essen brachte, zum gucken Gäste kamen, oder eine Gruppe die sich nicht entschließen konnte, ob rein oder raus, hat das vorsichtshalber mal die Tür gleich offen gelassen.... Das Essen war wunderbar, die Weinauswahl war für ein Weinhaus ein wenig eingeschränkt. Da geht mehr. Qualität der Weine und Speisen sehr gut. Alles sauber, Bedienungen sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Preis - Leistung absolut in Ordnung. Gerne wieder.

Update 2024: We were here for dinner on Boxing Day with 5 people; had pre-ordered and received a great table in the fireplace room. The Christmas decorations, the fireplace and the furs created a very cozy atmosphere! The Merowinger Hof team also impressed us with their very friendly and uncomplicated manner, as well as with a delicious menu selection at a reasonable price! We ate very well and plentifully, everything was perfect and we were able to spend really nice hours here again! We still strongly recommend it if you want to dine deliciously in a cozy atmosphere! We actually come here far too rarely... maybe because it's something special for us! We always had a delicious meal here and felt well looked after. And even when we were drinking wine in the yard late in the evening with our parents two years ago and were simply craving cheese, the landlady brought us a lovingly prepared board with cheese snacks. See you soon...🙋

Wenn ich mich frage, wie ich mir eine optimale Gastronomin vorstelle, würde ich Merkmale wie Höflichkeit, Respekt und gute Manieren damit verbinden. Die Wirtin/Chefin ist an Überheblichkeit, Arroganz und Unfreundlichkeit nicht zu überbieten!!! Das Essen war ganz O.K.

Wir waren dort ohne zu Reservieren. Leider war der Empfang nicht einem Gasthaus würdig. Es kam die Aussage : "Mit 4 Personen hättet ihr vorher anrufen müssen", das hatten wir einen Tag vorher, aber es wurde wohl nicht notiert. Das Restaurant sieht nett aus, aber so nicht. Wir waren dann eine Pizza essen und werden den Merowingerhof nicht mehr besuchen!

We were there with 4 people and chose different dishes and dessert. Everything was freshly prepared and of the best quality. If everything is freshly prepared and has to be served on the table at the same time, then you should have a little patience, even though it happens quickly. The service was friendly and competent. You could rely on the recommendations. The wine list was very extensive and good. There really wasn't the slightest thing to complain about. On the contrary! We would love to come back here. A clear recommendation from our side. Very good cuisine and very good service!

There were three of us. Ate Pimentos da Patron, liver and medallions. All dishes were well prepared and tasted very tasty. Service courteous and friendly.

It was time to stop by here again, as it has now been over 2 years since my last visit. At the time it was outstanding and I gave it 5 stars. Today I have a great desire, a lot of appetite and high expectations of the food. This evening dark clouds are moving over Andernach and rain is on the horizon, it seems to me as if it is a synonym for today's visit to the restaurant. The daily menu is available at the entrance, starter pulpo, main course lamb shoulder, great, I think that's perfect this evening. Our request for a seat outside is briskly rejected by the boss, pointing out that it is supposed to rain. Of course I can understand this, but the sound makes the music, more on that later. I'm looking forward to eating, ordering from the menu, which is different from the one that was previously displayed at the entrance. Today it should be porcini mushroom ravioli and medium rare rump steak. The ravioli were good, but I don't think they were homemade; there was too much breadcrumbs in the filling to bind them together, which is usually a clue. Unfortunately, the rump steak as the main course was not medium rare. It reminded me a lot of a tuna tataki, seared and with a gray ring on the outside and cool and raw on the inside. The problem with the correct cooking point also seemed to exist at the neighboring tables that evening. I wasn't used to such craftsmanship errors here before. But since my guests were largely satisfied, don't worry about it. But I no longer feel like having dessert. However, after leaving the restaurant I see that some tables outside are occupied. Is there a double standard here? I don't think so, but the taste remains.

We liked it very much. The food was good, the corn plaice was very good. I can only recommend everything. We would love to come back.

We enjoyed an absolutely delicious dinner here in their beautiful courtyard. They were kind enough to seat us without a reservation (although I’d recommend you book, it filled up). We ate the baked figs starter and pork medallions main and they were both excellent. We bought a bottle of wine from about 5km downriver to go with it. The service was friendly and attentive. The outdoor seating is beautiful in a traditional style courtyard. Would recommend and return.

Today we sat in the open space opposite the Merovingerhof. We had pollock with potatoes and a side salad. Both the service and the food were excellent.

Pork fillet with Gorgonzola sauce ordered with fried potatoes. Unfortunately the meat was overcooked. Unfortunately not flambéed either. But taste good. The fried potatoes were normal average. There are better kitchens. The atmosphere is very nice, cozy and rustic. In summer you can sit here very comfortably. Unfortunately, the food wasn't great. The staff friendly and nice. Small addendum: 0.4 l of cola €6.50. :(

Normalerweise schreibe ich keine Rezensionen, da ich grundsätzlich immer eine Entschuldigung bezüglich mancher Unannehmlichkeiten selbst erklärend finde. In diesem Fall allerdings absolut garnicht. Es erfolgte eine Reservierungen unsererseits in diesem Lokal, weil wir schon abermals in den Genuss der köstlichen Küche gekommen sind. Diesmal erfolgte die Resevierung online. Beim eintreffen mit 10 minütiger Verspätung wurden wir schon nicht mehr wirklich angenehm von der Dame des Hauses empfangen. Die Bedienung war stets bemüht, das möchte ich nicht unterschlagen. Nach der Vorspeise wurde der Haupteingang serviert mit den Worten „ Sie müssen die Hand von der Stuhllehne weg nehmen, gleich kommen sechs Gäste.“ Als ob man nicht in der Lage wäre, zu erkennen, dass ein Stuhl gebraucht wird… Danach kam die Aussage, und ich zetiere „ zu erst kommen Sie zu spät und dann sitzen Sie so selbstverständlich hier“ Liebe Gastgeberin! Natürlich saßen wir so selbstverständlich bei Ihnen! Allein schon weil wir für die Speisen und die Getränke aus unseren Portmonees bezahlt haben. Der andere Grund ist, wir sind keine Barbaren… wir haben sehr wohl Ihre Webseite uns angeschaut und keine Limits bezüglich der Tischzeitlimitierung gefunden. Eine angenehme Atmosphäre ist wirklich was anderes. Wir werden auf gar keinen Fall unser Geld noch ein mal hier lassen. Und am Ende muss ich sagen, weil die Herrin des Hauses es einfach nicht drauf hat!!!

Wollten reservieren und wurden bereits am Telefon so unfreundlich behandelt, da an gewissen Tagen das Restaurant nicht geöffnet hat und wir dies nicht wussten. Sehr kurz und knapp, kein Guten Tag und am Ende: so jetzt wissen Sie es ja….!!! Unfassbar!

Das Weinhaus ist urig und stimmig vom Ambiente. Der Haupteingang ist nicht direkt als solcher im Innenhof zu erkennen, es gibt mehrere Bereiche im Hof wo es Tische gibt. Wir haben auf der ersten Etage im Raum rechts gesessen, leider trotz unbelegter Tische im restlichen Raum in der Ecke direkt neben einem voll besetzten 4er Tisch sodass man sich eher schwer unterhalten konnte. Der Service war gut, aufmerksam und zuvorkommend. Das Essen war lecker und schön angerichtet, es gab Stoffservietten und echte Kerzen und Blumen am Tisch. Wir empfehlen es gerne weiter

Spontan als Ortsfremde dort eingekehrt und die Inhaberin hat,obwohl ausgebucht, eine Lösung gefunden uns unterzubringen. Essen war authentisch und sehr gut gekocht. Tolle Weinkarte, guter und aufmerksamer Service. Die Location hat viel Charme und es ist sicher herrlich dort bei wärmeren Temparaturen im Innenhof zu sitzen. Falls es sich ergibt kommen wir sicher wieder.

Ein wirklich uriges und verträumtes Ambiente erwartet einen nicht nur im Innenhof, sondern auch im Restaurant selbst. Man sieht die Geschichte des Hauses. Wirklich schön. Die Bedienungen (Solveig und Theresa) waren total lieb und sehr flott. Nochmal Danke für die Weinempfehlung. Das Essen war auch schneller da, als wir es von anderen Restaurants Samstagsabends kennen. Meine Schweinemedaillons in der Gusspfanne waren wirklich lecker. Alles in allem ist der Merowingerhof ein wirklich tolles Restaurant was ich gerne weiterempfehle und auf jeden Fall wieder besuchen werde.

Die Steaks waren selbst meinem Mann zu salzig, welcher selbst viel salzt. Die Bedienung entschuldige sich zwar, war jedoch insgesamt sehr unfreundlich und brachte das versalze Steak abgewaschen und weiterhin ungenießbar zurück.

Das war ein wunderschöner Abend. Tolles Ambiente und hervorragendes Essen mit ausgezeichnetem Wein. Vielen Dank an den Koch und das ganze Team.
