Watzke Wurstküche in Dresden

Very good food, excellent value for money, friendly staff, plenty of seating on the terrace in the warmer months, the on-site brewed Watzke beer (Altpieschener) highly recommended, and there are also weekly and monthly specials, with a wide variety of dishes—not just sausages. We'll be happy to return.

The menu is very pork-heavy, as you'd expect from a Bavarian restaurant. My dish was excellent, though it could have been a bit larger. The staff was very quick and friendly. The restaurant seemed clean and well-maintained. The drinks are a special feature; they seem to offer many special and house-made beers and spirits, which are on special offer on certain days.

Food OK. The pork shank is large and well-baked. Their own Watzke beer they only had a light and red lager with a medium flavor. No dark beer of any kind on offer. At the Hofbrauhaus in Munich this would have been unthinkable. However, the service is a complete failure! The waiter with glasses was completely blasé and when he heard the guests' foreign language, he was clearly "disgusted". Even nice gestures on our part, with assurances in broken German that the food was very good and everything, and announcements of ratings on Google.com did not help... In a moment, a larger group of German-speaking retirees arrived, and the bespectacled waiter continued without even pretending to show hospitality. To sum up: 1. The atmosphere is a disaster thanks to the waiter with glasses 2. Food OK 3. Average taste beer (no dark beer) 4. Average prices (as practically everywhere else shopping malls You can certainly spend the same money much better elsewhere and receive in return hospitality, nicer service and a Saxon atmosphere... The decision is up to each of you individually...

A nice place for a hearty lunch. Many food and beer options are available, with a range of specials to negotiate. Their own brews are very good. I had the Goulash with dumplings. It was very tasty and the correct portion size. Our server was very prompt, courteous and efficient. It's a very welcoming place with a range of events advertised for the near future. A very positive start to my visit to Dresden.

The best bratwurst??? Let me laugh... Tastes like soap I couldn't finish it. Very unpleasant welcome, we quickly understand that we are not part of their usual clientele... seated on a small table in the passage and the drafts while there were plenty of other tables free. But we hadn't booked so we had to be patient. To end on a positive note, the currywurst was quite good but did not make us forget this unpleasant moment.

Maybe we were late for dinner (around 8pm), the food was not good to recommend, at least for ours, esp. schnitzel (with ham and cheese inside), it had been over cooked, so too dry to be tasty :( and the sides (fries and veggie) were more like freezer fast food style instead of fresh made. The sausage was better, so maybe only go for sausages. Services were good, at least, listened to our feedback.

Everything went well with the reservation and was correct. There was also a small but comfortable seating unit as well as a perfectly coordinated meal and yes, most importantly, the beer.

Simply worth a visit again and again

What you need to know: various "Watzkes" in Dresden with very different menus. Insider tip - if there is one - is the Hackepeter. The place is always full, always loud, crowds at the entrance. Apparently a very popular restaurant among the locals. The food is reasonably priced and good, but as the evening wore on the waitress got confused and occasionally forgot and mixed up something. But with kindness. Anyone who likes the atmosphere and hearty food will be satisfied here.

It's actually a great and cozy restaurant, and that's what was promised when we ordered a table for several people. When we arrived at the restaurant the table was in the middle of the aisle next to the entrance door. Everyone had to pass us and it wasn't comfortable either. Since we were there, we sat down anyway because we knew the food was great. The waiter was great too. So the food was great, the waiters were great, but the table was a disappointment.

Six of us stopped there at short notice and after a few minutes we had a place. Service is very quick and friendly, food is really cheap, portions are quite large and tasty.

Rating initially only for the reservation and reception. Despite making a reservation by phone and being informed that it was very comfortable, we were seated at a table that seemed to have been put together in a makeshift manner. Right in the entrance area and in the open door train. There was also an apology from the boss, which I didn't mean seriously, as the restaurant was fully booked. Service is different. And comfortable too! The waiter couldn't be blamed, he was very friendly.

I don't even know where to start. Everything was perfect! Wonderful staff, perfect food and really clean toilets!!! This has become really rare. If you're looking for traditional German food, this is the place for you. I haven't eaten tartare in years and can recommend it with a clear conscience. The knuckle was also a stunner!!!

Very delicious traditional German food, if you like to try this I recommend this place, although the waitress didn't know English it wasn't difficult to order at all, all the people who were there that day we went were very friendly, don't forget to order a house beer .

We went to the really nice, rustic restaurant as part of our short trip. The staff is very nice, made a pleasant impression and has a relaxed saying. Typically Saxony. 😉 Please keep your great staff. The catering industry needs people like you! 🙏 The menu is manageable and there is also something for vegetarians/vegans. Very commendable. We had the beer goulash and beer coach steak - simply delicious. You get full, the prices are okay and I don't have to start with beer. 😁 Highly recommended!! 🙈 If we are in Dresden again, we will come back.

Looking for a bratwurst in combination with a delicious beer, we ended up at Watzkes Wurstküche. On the one hand, it's great how you can reinterpret classic dishes, but unfortunately the implementation didn't work out so well, the pasta side dish and grilled vegetables were overcooked. However, fries for the children and the beer for the parents were really tasty.

I tried the currywurst at Watzke Wurstküche in Dresden recently. The curry was okay but the wurst was good. Their daily special seemed nice (i.e. Wed Currywurst special with drink) so I’d give it 8.3/10

I was there alone. Because of the pleasant temperatures, I ate outside. In my opinion, the service employee had too many tables, which was reflected in his tone of voice and rather curt behavior. Beer at Watzke is a must for everyone. I found the dish less exciting and okay.

Man muss lange suchen um so leckere Hausmannskost wie in Watzke's Wurstküche zu finden. Die abwechslungsreichen Sonderkarten sorgen immer wieder für neue kulinarische Überraschungen. Besonders die Monatswurst und das Monatsbier sind ein Highlight, und die Aktionstage bieten zusätzliche Abwechslung. Das Restaurant ist nicht nur bei Touristen, sondern auch bei Einheimischen sehr beliebt, was für die Qualität spricht. Die Bedienung ist stets freundlich und zuvorkommend, was den Besuch noch angenehmer macht. Im Sommer laden die Plätze auf der Außenterrasse zum Verweilen ein. Ein großes Dankeschön an das gesamte Team für die wunderbaren Erlebnisse!

The waitress (old woman) in this restaurant is racist, rude and inattentive, gave me a disgusted face and shouted at me to sit down. I didn’t try the food and If you’re a tourist you should stay away from this restaurant.

Delicious food and homemade sausage on site. The beer is always good anyway because it is brewed directly in the brewery in Dresden - Pieschen.
