Watzke Wurstküche in Dresden

Whenever I'm in Dresden, a visit here is a must. Good beer and good food, in a nice atmosphere.

Food tastes really good and we always like to come back to you again and again

We didn't eat anything except a pretzel, but we drank great coffee and sat in the fresh air. The waiter was friendly and it was fun.

Friendly service, classic brewery dishes, but there is also a good selection for vegetarians. The beer is delicious anyway.

There was no yeast wheat beer and the cheese was not deliciously dressed.

After 15 minutes, in which a waitress walked past me at least five times, I left again. Things are going better in the branch right next door!

Quite good food... I recommend it

I've been here 3 times, and unfortunately I need to edit my review because of the bad quality of service during my most recent visit. Our server went out of his way to be rude for no apparent reason — we were just a group of 3 people eating lunch, no annoying requests or anything like that, but we were English-speaking, so maybe that was partially the issue. The other servers were very polite and helpful, so it was really just the one server who tainted our experience.

Unnecessarily rude waiter – Visit during lunch on 08.04.25 There were two waiters serving us: a young gentleman, who was very nice and polite, and his slightly older colleague (possibly the headwaiter), with short hair and stubble, who unfortunately made us feel unwelcome. He made rude remarks and displayed poor manners, which was absolutely unnecessary. At the end, when we were paying, he had the audacity to ask for a tip. I declined, and his only reaction was to leave without saying a word. We have visited this place multiple times in the past and always had a good experience. Unfortunately, it seems that the standards and expectations for service have declined. Food was good, no complaints there.

Nice atmosphere of the restaurant, nice service, but the food was very average (at least what we ordered). Unfortunately, I couldn't compare the quality of the dishes served to other restaurants in this city, but the dishes we ordered were very heavy and fatty. The regional beer is very good 😉

They don't have English menus and the waiter doesn't help you to order. So if you don't know German it is impossible to eat here.

We had the schnitzel and the brawn, which were soooo delicious. The special beer was also very good.

It's quite hard to get a table with a casual setting - it's just cramped inside. Nice, although very busy service (you have to remind yourself). The food was tasty, quite standard and reasonably priced for the old town. The decor is a plus. A child-friendly place.

We were in the sausage kitchen for the first time today. The food was really great and even if you don't have a lot of time, you can still go out to eat because the kitchen is really quick. We will definitely come back and look forward to the next time

Very good cuisine, great value for money, nice staff, lots of places on the terrace in the warm season, the own brewed Watzke beer (Altpieschener) is highly recommended, there are also weekly and monthly changing special menus, the menu is extensive with various - not just sausage - dishes. You'll be happy to come back.

A very pork-heavy menu, as you would expect at a Bavarian local. My dish was excellent, but could have been a little bigger. The staff was very quick and friendly. The restaurant seemed clean and well-kept. The drinks are special, they seem to offer many special and house-made beers and spirits that are on offer on some days.

Food OK. The pork shank is large and well-baked. Their own Watzke beer they only had a light and red lager with a medium flavor. No dark beer of any kind on offer. At the Hofbrauhaus in Munich this would have been unthinkable. However, the service is a complete failure! The waiter with glasses was completely blasé and when he heard the guests' foreign language, he was clearly "disgusted". Even nice gestures on our part, with assurances in broken German that the food was very good and everything, and announcements of ratings on Google.com did not help... In a moment, a larger group of German-speaking retirees arrived, and the bespectacled waiter continued without even pretending to show hospitality. To sum up: 1. The atmosphere is a disaster thanks to the waiter with glasses 2. Food OK 3. Average taste beer (no dark beer) 4. Average prices (as practically everywhere else shopping malls You can certainly spend the same money much better elsewhere and receive in return hospitality, nicer service and a Saxon atmosphere... The decision is up to each of you individually...

Wir hatten eine Currywurst mir Pommes und eine Haxenbratwurst. Beides hausgemacht und echt lecker. Auch dad Bier war supergut und der Service freundlich. Also: geht da hin!

A nice place for a hearty lunch. Many food and beer options are available, with a range of specials to negotiate. Their own brews are very good. I had the Goulash with dumplings. It was very tasty and the correct portion size. Our server was very prompt, courteous and efficient. It's a very welcoming place with a range of events advertised for the near future. A very positive start to my visit to Dresden.

A traditional German bar. Their beers are successful. We also liked the white mulled wine. Service is great 👍 Prices are slightly above the German average.

The best bratwurst??? Let me laugh... Tastes like soap I couldn't finish it. Very unpleasant welcome, we quickly understand that we are not part of their usual clientele... seated on a small table in the passage and the drafts while there were plenty of other tables free. But we hadn't booked so we had to be patient. To end on a positive note, the currywurst was quite good but did not make us forget this unpleasant moment.

Maybe we were late for dinner (around 8pm), the food was not good to recommend, at least for ours, esp. schnitzel (with ham and cheese inside), it had been over cooked, so too dry to be tasty :( and the sides (fries and veggie) were more like freezer fast food style instead of fresh made. The sausage was better, so maybe only go for sausages. Services were good, at least, listened to our feedback.

Everything went well with the reservation and was correct. There was also a small but comfortable seating unit as well as a perfectly coordinated meal and yes, most importantly, the beer.

Six of us stopped there at short notice and after a few minutes we had a place. Service is very quick and friendly, food is really cheap, portions are quite large and tasty.

What you need to know: various "Watzkes" in Dresden with very different menus. Insider tip - if there is one - is the Hackepeter. The place is always full, always loud, crowds at the entrance. Apparently a very popular restaurant among the locals. The food is reasonably priced and good, but as the evening wore on the waitress got confused and occasionally forgot and mixed up something. But with kindness. Anyone who likes the atmosphere and hearty food will be satisfied here.

It's actually a great and cozy restaurant, and that's what was promised when we ordered a table for several people. When we arrived at the restaurant the table was in the middle of the aisle next to the entrance door. Everyone had to pass us and it wasn't comfortable either. Since we were there, we sat down anyway because we knew the food was great. The waiter was great too. So the food was great, the waiters were great, but the table was a disappointment.

Friendly service, rustic ambience, fair prices, good food (pork wasn't quite cooked through and a bit mixed), combination of many small tables seems uncomfortable and overcrowded. Otherwise I'll try again. 😉

Rating initially only for the reservation and reception. Despite making a reservation by phone and being informed that it was very comfortable, we were seated at a table that seemed to have been put together in a makeshift manner. Right in the entrance area and in the open door train. There was also an apology from the boss, which I didn't mean seriously, as the restaurant was fully booked. Service is different. And comfortable too! The waiter couldn't be blamed, he was very friendly.

I don't even know where to start. Everything was perfect! Wonderful staff, perfect food and really clean toilets!!! This has become really rare. If you're looking for traditional German food, this is the place for you. I haven't eaten tartare in years and can recommend it with a clear conscience. The knuckle was also a stunner!!!
