WASABI sushi & grill in Kassel

Very tasty and varied. We didn't make a reservation and still managed to get a spot. There was an additional card with other recommendations. Found it to be very cramped and close to the door it was very fresh. Food and drink were brought very quickly.

The salmon rolls and sashimi were very tasty, but not the tuna maki. It was just canned tuna, but that's their recipe. The service is friendly and fast. We were greeted and quickly offered a table. My wife and I were guests at WASABI sushi&grill today. We chose this location because of the good reviews and were visiting here for the first time. Unfortunately I cannot share the overall impression of my previous reviewers, I would like to briefly describe the reasons for this. At least it wasn't because of the food, which was very tasty and beautifully presented. In my opinion, the ambience is getting old and certainly needs some cosmetic work. Overall, there was a noticeable draft throughout the entire visit, which took away from the comfort of a restaurant that was almost empty and not yet heated. Overall, not a place to feel comfortable. The real problem, however, was the underground service of a bored employee. Since we paid 62€ for two people, which in my opinion is no longer cheap (2 dishes, 1 starter and 2 drinks), you can expect a little more. In detail I complain here: When the food and drinks were served, we didn't ask who ordered what, everything was simply put there and we had to sort it ourselves. When I asked if I could have cutlery instead of chopsticks, they were simply placed on the table in front of me (without a napkin). Hygiene? None! My Cola from the bottle with a straw, glass? None! This is more reminiscent of a chip shop and for as written 62€. I had to leave one plate back because there were still sesame seeds on it. There was no receipt after paying and no one asked if one was needed. Actually, one star was too much here. So if so, I can only recommend this “restaurant” to pick up a pre-order.

Wasabi is by far the best sushi shop in Kassel and the surrounding area. The sushi rolls are a little more expensive than those of the competitors, but the quality is always top. I'm always satisfied when I'm there, whether eating on site or taking away. Have never been disappointed here.

Cozy atmosphere, delicious food

I have been a big sushi fan for some time and discovered this restaurant by chance on a weekend trip to Kassel. The look alone, the decoration, the design, are really very tasteful and invite you to come in. The service is very good and all the employees are very friendly. There is so much sushi to choose from that it's really hard to decide. Everything that was on my plate (mixed according to the chef's recommendation) tasted very good and was of very high quality. I can recommend the restaurant 100 percent.

A large selection of classic and innovative sushi and other dishes. Having been to Japan myself, I can say that the sushi here is absolutely representative. Compared to some other places, the sushi here is prepared very freshly and there are even recommendations from the chef. It's not very spacious, but that's what creates a cozy atmosphere. I recommend reserving a table in advance as the restaurant is very popular and is therefore often full.

We've been lucky enough to get a table spontaneously without a reservation twice! Very nice service and super tasty and fresh food. You write the food order yourself on a piece of paper and the waitress then goes through it with you again. Absolutely recommended for every lover of Japanese cuisine

We were here on a Saturday evening and had reserved in advance. - the store was well filled (hence reservation) - The service was very friendly - Atmosphere was appropriate, nice interior design - Prices quite cheap - Food was amazing! Very good sushi - Sake is also delicious and reasonably priced I would just have liked more selection of draft beer. Unfortunately, the Japanese beers were only available in bottles. It was a worthwhile visit and we would love to come back :)

A really nice atmosphere, plus delicious sushi that was very fresh. There was also homemade iced tea, which justified the price. I drove there for an extra 2:30 hours and would do it again.

I only knew about wasabi from Instagram. Now I had dinner there with my husband and we are very excited! The ambience is nicely done. The clerk left us a piece of paper and a pen so we could write down our order. This way you can take your time to study the map, but it also seems a little distant to me. The food is remarkable. Very good quality, very sophisticated flavor combinations. We really enjoyed it - definitely too good to wolf down! You should know what you like so that you order what you like - but then you will be surprised and spoiled with culinary delights!

Addendum: The opening times listed on Google should be updated. We drove an extra 40km to arrive an hour before 3pm (scheduled closing time). Nevertheless, we were informed at 2 p.m. that the staff had a break and that we could come back in 3 hours. ___________________________ Original review: It is an experience to order there every time, both on site in the restaurant and by pick-up. The quality and freshness of the ingredients (especially the fish) speak for themselves. The language of the dishes, the selection of dishes and the service are great. I will definitely come back again and again and will recommend the restaurant to friends and acquaintances in good conscience.

Extraordinary ambience meets fresh, authentic and exceptionally good food. Whether sushi, appetizers or noodles, everything was exceptionally good and tasty. We were there spontaneously and will definitely be regular guests there now.

Ambience is great. If you come from outside and don't know it, it's rather inconspicuous. The quality is absolutely great and definitely recommended. Gladly again.

We went to Wasabi for the second time today and will definitely come back. In my opinion, the sushi is very, very good and the starters and soups are also delicious. The desserts aren't that great, but I don't think you expect that in a sushi restaurant. We have already tried one or two restaurants, but none of them tasted as good as WASABI. A small point of criticism in my opinion is the seating, the benches at the edge are a bit carelessly "cobbled together", that could be better.

Today we ate at the new Wasabi (previously Asahi). The food was okay, but it took a long time to get it (about 45 minutes). The prices don't go up at all! For a 0.2l cola 3.80€? You can also overdo it.. total for some sushi and drinks over 70€.. Unfortunately not again.

The course looks a bit strange from the outside, but the food is really extremely good. Ate here several times and it was always excellent. The price is absolutely reasonable.

But I don't want to say much except: MEGA! Super tasty dishes, served in style by a very friendly young man. We would love to come back and eat some more delicious dishes there. The food was really, really fresh, tasty and very nicely prepared! I go out for sushi often, but this was the best sushi I've had in a long time! (: The curry was also really tasty. We were also there because of the dry ice fog and they said that it only happens on weekends, and suddenly we were served and we got fog! That was really a great surprise, thank you <3 🙏☺️

WASABI is and remains simply the best sushi restaurant in Kassel. I was just thinking about it and trying to find points of criticism, but I really can't think of anything. From the fish and meat to the vegetables, the rice and the sauces, everything is of high quality and delicious. This is one of those stores where it doesn't hurt to spend a little more. The service is also really cool and courteous. Even the homemade iced teas and the matcha cheesecake simply blow you away. I've also seen some reviews that don't like the fact that you have to write down your order yourself, but I think this idea is really brilliant and less stressful than having to tell the waiter everything. I really enjoy coming here and I celebrated my birthday here myself. Towards the evening we ate next to each other with the workers and shared cake; there was just a very pleasant, family atmosphere. I wish this restaurant all the best and all the success it deserves.

We were there for dinner with work colleagues. It was very well attended, which is saying something. I'm not a big sushi eater, but the food here was a taste explosion. Just wow! Despite the seats being full, the service is well organized and attentive. I would always make a reservation before visiting. The price is a bit high, but it's worth it.

The two of us ate at Wasabi on February 14, 2024. The store was very crowded. The distance to the other tables felt about 30 cm to the left and to the right. We waited about 45 minutes to even be served. I first had to call the waitress so that we could get drinks and menus. The wrong food was then brought twice. Our meal was filmed by the chef without asking and when I turned my head I bumped into him too. There was no apology or anything. Of course, the restaurant is allowed to take photos of my order and then post it on social media. But I would like to be asked. The sushi was good quality, unfortunately a bit low for the price. We ate for around €100 and weren't even full. Unfortunately I won't visit Wasabi again.

Super cozy (great painted pictures on the wall), service very friendly, fast and accommodating. Even when the store is completely full, there is no long waiting time 👌 All in all very successful. I haven't even started with the food - fantastic!!! Highly recommended for every sushi lover! You definitely can't go wrong here.

We ate here for the first time. The food and the ambience are very nice and the staff is also very nice and accommodating. They also attach great importance to decoration.

By far the best sushi, the best homemade lemonade and delicious mochi. The ambience is ok, but what it's all about and what they excel at is the food! Incredibly tasty, quick to prepare and fresh. The sauces are to die for. If you eat on site you get a little show when it's served. The lemonade is homemade and tastes very tasty. The mochi are also delicious. I can say that for me it is the best sushi in Kassel and I am always satisfied. The only complaint is that when you order food you have to wait outside, which is not so pleasant in colder temperatures, but is due to the small size of the restaurant and is quickly forgotten once you eat the delicious food. Always happy.

We spontaneously got a table on Sunday evening, the atmosphere is nice, but quite narrow and the medical facilities are not to my taste and could be cleaner.

The food was fantastic! The service was also super good. Unfortunately it was very uncomfortable to sit on (wooden chairs) and it was icy cold by the window. We sat by a mini heater, but I had to put on my jacket. It's a shame, otherwise we would have felt completely comfortable.

We really enjoy eating sushi and were very happy that we were able to reserve a table. First of all, the sushi was of good quality and we really enjoyed it. I find it rather difficult and not very service-oriented if you have to write down your order yourself on a small piece of paper. Then the food came on two large plates (for 4 people) which made eating together rather difficult. The shop is very small, you should wait in front of the door and only enter when asked so that the door is not constantly open. Seems to make sense, whether it's beautiful is a matter of opinion. Unfortunately it is incredibly cold in the restaurant, it is definitely not comfortable. We paid €70 for two people but I would like to be served nicely and sit in the warmth. Going to the toilet should be done with caution due to the wet floor. But that's nothing compared to the path from the street to the entrance, which is incredibly slippery and there is a warning sign pointing out this. It's a shame, it could have been good.

In my opinion the best sushi, especially the selection of fried rolls is awesome. The service is super friendly and has a very familiar atmosphere. The restaurant itself is very nice.

Essen war phantastisch😛. Leider waren wir an einem Platz untergebracht, der am Durchgang zu Küche und Restrooms lag. Hier war zusätzlich die Sitzbank kaputt. Und für den veganen Gast wurde die Teigtasche mit Huhn gestellt, die eigentlich zum anderen Gast am Tisch gehörten. Trotzdem war es auch von der Präsentation der Speisen und deren Geschmack ein absolutes Erlebnis. Die Crispy Rolls sind sowohl vegetarisch als auch mit Fisch ein absolutes Highlight.

Fantastic Sushi, served timely and efficiently. Service was polite and courteous, but no one went above and beyond. Priced fairly but no bill received just flashed to you on an tablet at the end, might not go down well with some. They also make you take your own order, which seemed a little strange, essentially "we'll come back when you've written the numbers of the dishes you want", no recommendations or advice on a personalised level because of the order taking process. The venue needs a little bit of a refurbishment, starting to look very worn and tired. Enjoyed it all nonetheless. Thanks.

Sehr gemütlich, man fühlt sich sofort wohl, die Bedienung ist sehr freundlich und das essen unschlagbar gut.

Das Essen ist sehr lecker und wirklich schön angerichtet. Die Präsentation vom Essen kann sich sehen lassen, da isst das Auge definitiv mit. Es ist ein gut besuchter Laden gewesen als ich da war, aber das Service Personal hat sich viel Mühe gegeben um den Wünschen schnell nachzukommen.
