Walsumer Brauhaus Urfels in Duisburg

We reserved a table for two and received prompt confirmation – great! BUT: our reservation was cancelled a few hours beforehand, apparently because groups are given priority. We were offered an alternative table for 2.5 hours later – no thanks. It seems you can't rely on a confirmed reservation here. We are very disappointed with this service and will definitely not be coming back!

I'm a frequent guest at the brewery, both for personal and business reasons. The food, service, and atmosphere are truly excellent, well-balanced, and perfectly suited to the character of a brewery. The only criticism, however, is that it's been overlooked that we're now in the year 2025 AD. Debit cards are practically obsolete and are being replaced by credit and debit cards at almost every bank. How long will they continue to ignore this and rely on a payment system that only accepts debit cards?

We couldn't get any food at 6:30 pm on a Sunday, just an hour and a half before the brewery closed. We were very disappointed.

The cordon bleu was bad. Probably old ham. The female staff were a bit rude.

What a culinary delight. The beer, no matter which one. As a little warm-up, the bread with lard – delicious! The beer platter is incredibly cool! Definitely a must-try. My favorites are "Helles" and Bernstein 😋 And of course, a "Hau Rein Platte" (a platter of pork knuckle, Leberkäse, sausage, and fried potatoes in a delicious gravy).

Well we were there a few times before Corona the food was always great but it has decreased a lot sauces like water fries when kept warm is unfortunately no longer as it was

The waitress was probably having a bad day; she seemed annoyed, fidgety, and waiting for the end of the shift. But it seems to be familiar to regulars. The food was upscale chip shop. I've been there twice, in 2024 and 2025. I probably won't be back voluntarily.

The food was good and plentiful. German cuisine is hard to find these days. Everything here was delicious. There were three of us, and we tried three different dishes, all delicious.

Card payments only from 20€ and no credit cards

Four of us went there one Sunday after a bike ride to get something to eat. We were turned away, told they had nothing left to eat and the kitchen was closing. I'm almost lost for words. What kind of organization is this?

We always enjoy coming to the brewery with the whole family. The home-brewed Walsum beer is simply delicious, and there are free drinks for the kids. The atmosphere is super nice.

Today we were in the beer garden for the first time in a long time. The house beer was delicious. The food we ordered (Schnitzel Amsterdam) arrived within 3 minutes, faster than at the snack bar. Unfortunately, it looked like that, too. Since the waitress didn't take our comment that the food was definitely not freshly prepared, we reluctantly ate it. The schnitzel was dark, dry, and reminiscent of pressed meat, the fries were lukewarm, and all for €19.60. We certainly won't be eating here again, what a shame!

We were at the brewery yesterday and had a great time. Delicious food and a great beer. A big compliment to the waiter, Mr. Neumann. He recommended the endive salad with panhas and black pudding. Very, very tasty and highly recommended.

For a brewery, this is almost outrageous value for money. Oh well! While the beer garden used to be full, today many seats were empty. What a shame! The limits of pricing policy have been exceeded!

A very cozy place to chat outside. The food is good and fresh, but overpriced in my opinion. Despite the price of almost €20, the schnitzel doesn't even come with a salad. The service was very friendly and helpful.

Prices were continually driven up, exceeding the limit. This resulted in us losing our customers. Adios... Some dishes doubled their final price!

The lunch menu was great; maybe you could add the half chickens to the regular menu. They'll definitely go down well.

I was at the restaurant yesterday and would especially like to highlight the outstanding service. The lady who served us was not only extremely attentive, but also professional, friendly, and always there at the right time – without being intrusive. You could immediately tell that she knows what she's doing and does her job with real passion. The entire experience was particularly pleasant, and I felt very valued as a guest. Such service is unfortunately rare these days – so a huge compliment to her and the entire team. I'll definitely be back!

A very nice brewery with a great atmosphere. The service was exceptionally friendly and attentive – something you don't experience every day! The food was truly delicious and beautifully presented. A place where you feel at home, and one we'll gladly return to.

Surprisingly good ambiance, friendly service, a variety of good beers, and delicious food. Tip: It's best to arrive by bike; several great routes run through here. The brewery is located on Römerstraße. I didn't notice any parking spaces!

A beautiful brewery. It would certainly be very nice outside in good weather. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't so good during our visit. We didn't have a table reservation, but a nice table for two was immediately available. The service was very friendly and prompt. We got everything quickly. Overall, the service was excellent. We then ordered knuckle of pork and baked potatoes with salmon. Two really large portions arrived, which we almost couldn't finish. And it was incredibly delicious. We also had some bread with cracklings to start with. Conclusion: Good service, a nice brewery atmosphere (two brewing kettles in the bar), really delicious food and good portions, and great value for money. We'll definitely be back.

There's a dish on the menu for every taste – classic brewery fare, but also modern (vegetarian) dishes, big appetites, and even small snacks. Delicious beer and super friendly service. We rarely take our dog to restaurants, but here we were greeted with a bowl of water, treats, and joy.

Everything was top to super. I just find it sad that during the week you can only order food until 7 p.m. and the restaurant is only open until 9 p.m.

We visited the brewery again on Easter Sunday. This time we had the asparagus platter for 2 people, which we really enjoyed. The portion was big enough, what we couldn't manage was packed away. As always, the service was very attentive and friendly. Slightly longer waiting times are normal on such days, but they weren't worth mentioning. The atmosphere in the brewery is always very cozy, which is why we like to come here often. The beer also tastes great.

Da ich vor Corona nach einem Besuch beim Urfels und dem Genuß meines Standards -- das große 300-Gramm-Steak -- sehr schnell die Toilette aufsuchen mußte (das Fleisch war wohl mehr als gut abgehangen) und auch meine Begleiter nicht wirklich glücklich mit dem Gebotenen waren (knorpeliges Fleisch im Gulasch, überschaubare Portion beim Klopsbausatz), machte ich neulich unterwegs kurz Halt, um dem Urfels eine zweite Chance einzuräumen. Bei einem Blick auf die Speisekarte jedoch blieb die gute Absicht im Ansatz stecken: Angesichts dieser Preise (gut 30 statt bisher 20 Euro für das Kutschersteak?) bin ich nicht bereit, auf gut Glück etwas zu bestellen, das mir entweder nicht schmeckt oder mir gesundheitliche Probleme bereitet. Dafür muß ich für mein Geld zu hart arbeiten. Auch der Genuß eines Getränks bietet sich nicht mehr an, denn die Preise sind mittlerweile alle jenseits der 5-Euro-Schallmauer -- für ein Glas Blubberlutsch oder eine Gerstenkaltschale schon mehr als grenzwertig. Da nehme ich mir lieber eine Kühltasche mit, setze mich irgendwo am Rhein hin und mache dort ein Picknick. Und von dem gesparten Geld kaufe ich beim Metzger meines Vertrauens ein schönes Stück Rinderfilet und schmeiße es selbst nach vollendeter Radtour auf den Grill. Lecker.

The menu on the internet compared to the restaurant today has all dishes around €5 more expensive.

We had a lovely lunch. Our waitress was super! The beer and food tasty!

The service was good. The food, however, was underwhelming. The skin on the knuckle wasn't cooked crisply, and as such, the knuckle was 50% fat. The sauerkraut that came with it wasn't tasty, as it had no flavor of its own; even adding more seasoning wouldn't have improved it. Unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience.

The visit took place in the evening before Christmas. A reservation would not have been necessary. The brewery pan was ordered for two people to eat. The drinks were light beer and Christmas beer. The serving staff is young. There are experienced people behind the counter. The food was completely sufficient for two people. The skin of the pork knuckle was nicely cross. The bratwurst has seen the steamer. The cross fried skin was clearly missing. The Leberkäs had also passed through the steamer. The sighting of a pan for the Leberkäs was probably a long time ago. The mashed potatoes tasted good. The sauerkraut was tasty. A warm dessert was no longer available at 9 p.m. The coffee that was ordered before 9 p.m. was delivered and was perfect. Cutlery for lifting things out of the pan was only given upon request. The prices are not appropriate for the service provided. There will be no further visit. There is also no recommendation.

We were warmly welcomed into a really nice restaurant. 14 people were perfectly looked after by the friendly service. The food was very tasty and plentiful and there was really nothing missing. A big thank you to the whole team, we'll be back, that's for sure

We were at the brewery on November 20, 2024 with a group of 9 people. The food was really tasty and really plentiful. The home-brewed beer is a pleasure and highly recommended. Michelle, who served us that evening, deserves special mention. You can tell straight away that she enjoys her job. She kept coming to the table to ask if everything was okay or if we had any further wishes. Her extremely nice and friendly manner and her very courteous treatment of us as guests made us feel very welcome, which made our visit to the brewery even more pleasant. A big thank you to Michelle for that 😊

We visited the Walsumer Brauhaus restaurant by chance. The food, “A hit in the pan😀👍 and beer goulash was absolutely excellent. It was served warm and well seasoned. Another highlight was the friendly and courteous service staff and the ambience. We really felt comfortable! Thank you for great hospitality. We will definitely come back. Conclusion: A great restaurant (insider tip) with very good home cooking. The restaurant is particularly recommended by us.

The Walsumer Brauhaus Urfels is a quaint and cozy restaurant in the Walsum district of Duisburg. The dishes are tasty and reasonably priced. Fast and attentive service makes you feel like you are in good hands. In season you can also sit outside in the beer garden. Various activities (e.g. Easter or tapas) round off the concept throughout the year. Unfortunately, in summer, because the beer garden is so busy, you can be unlucky and not get a seat. It is therefore advisable to reserve in advance, for example on a bike tour. If you come by car, you can use the parking lot opposite to use.

Gastronomy experience!!! There is delicious food and beer here, but by far the biggest highlight is the glass polishing machine that is in the middle of the dining room. During my stay I was able to observe how regularly not only glasses but also hands, fingernails and a watch were polished - that seems to be normal. Best regards Diarrhea

Wollten während einer Fahrradtour im Biergarten einkehren. Nach einem Blick in die Karte hatte sich das Essen erledigt. Für ein Schnitzel Wiener Art werden 18€ aufgerufen. Ohne Salat. Ok kann man machen. Dann wollen sie aber noch für Ketchup und Mayo, 3€ extra haben. In einem Brauhaus. Wollten dann nur noch ein Getränk nehmen. Man wollte uns draußen nur große Biere (0,5) servieren. Obwohl in der Karte auch 0,3 angeboten werden. Sind dann gegangen. Da hat jemand den Knall noch nicht gehört.

A freshly brewed beer, whether light or dark, is just right. Of course, the hearty home-cooked food should not be missed either. Recommended for a trip with friends.

Good home cooking, hearty and well-filled plates invite you to socialize with friends, family or make new acquaintances. Friendly service and home-brewed beer alongside the shiny copper brewing kettles provide a cozy atmosphere. In summer, the large beer garden invites you to take a break for a fresh light drink. My parents invited me to the Walsumer Brauhaus for my birthday. Since I loved going there as a child, I was really looking forward to my girlfriend and I visiting. I got a turkey breast strip salad. This cost €20 and, in my opinion, was done quite heartlessly, boringly and without creativity. The cocktail sauce on the salad reminded me of the pizzeria on my street because the sauce tasted one to one. In my opinion, normal lamb's lettuce leaves with corn peppers and a little cucumber + six pieces of turkey breast do not justify the price of €20. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with our visit, as the food my companion served was also rather mediocre.

Very cozy restaurant with a large beer garden in a lovingly landscaped garden including bicycle parking. The portions are huge and incredibly tasty - home cooking, Rhenish specialties or fish. The children's plate (ribbon noodles with tomato sauce) was also completely cleaned up! - All highly recommended. The service is quick and very friendly. Everything points to a return visit!

We were there for dinner today with 8 people. When you read the map you think that the prices are at the upper limit. We ordered and the service was very nice. However, we found that the food was consistently high quality, rich and fresh. There was really nothing to complain about. The atmosphere is unique. We'd love to come back.

Unfortunately, this brewery didn't convince us. The food portions are a bit lean, the schnitzel for €18 is far too small. Ketchup and mayo even cost €1.50 extra. The drinks aren't exactly cheap either; you pay the equivalent of one euro for 0.1 liters. The toilets stink and there is no paper to dry your hands. Not necessarily recommended here; Too bad.

It is well known, the Walsumer Brauhaus. There's something going on here. The food is as you would expect from a brewery. It's best to look at the menu online and take a look at the arrangements. Pre-booking a table makes sense.

We actually always liked going to the Brauhaus Walsum. But unfortunately the food turned out really bad. As always, the service was super friendly. Therefore only three stars. If it were after the meal, unfortunately only one star would be left. Went there with the whole family and unfortunately everyone didn't like it anymore. Simply carelessly prepared and the taste was clearly better. It's a shame about Brauhaus Walsum 😢

After a tour of Orsoy (approx. 7 km) we arrived back at the ferry in Walsum. After a short thought, we went to the brewery for a short break. As soon as we sat down, there was a friendly waitress at the table. Drinks were ordered quickly and we also received the menu very quickly. We decided on a bread basket (beer bread with lard) and potato wedges with garlic dip. Both were very tasty and the Rababer, passion fruit spritzer also refreshed us. Conclusion: Sit comfortably in the beer garden and enjoy. Price/performance appropriate. Highly recommended!!

The two of us arrived on our bikes today and were already seated in the beer garden, that was at 8:45 p.m. We were looking forward to a delicious beer. The "nice" waitress immediately informed us that we wouldn't be getting any more drinks. (Checkout is already closed, there are still a number of guests present, actually open on Thursdays until 9 p.m.) For us it was absolutely incomprehensible, given the great weather, such inflexible service. 0 stars for this (had to select at least 1 to post here.) A very nice beer garden with lots of nice seating areas. The food was great, I personally only missed the sweet mustard with the meatloaf. Service was friendly!!

Die Potionen waren nicht sehr groß. Das Essen selbst hat gut geschmeckt. Wollten für eine Feierlichkeit einen Tisch für 13 Personen reservieren. Auf die Frage ,ob wir uns einen Tisch aussuchen dürfen, weil wir im Vorjahr mit einer Gesellschaft sehr beengt gesessen hatten, meinte Herr Langhoff , wir sollten uns doch eine andere Lokalität aussuchen, wenn wir mit seinem Lokal nicht zufrieden sind. Wir haben uns für eine andere Lokaliät entschieden. Das Brauhaus werden wir nicht weiterempfehlen und auch nicht mehr besuchen. Ich glaube die Gastwirte stöhnen auf hohem Niveau, wenn sie sich so ihren Stammgästen gegenüber verhalten können.

A once great brewery that has become increasingly expensive in recent years. The food hasn't lost much quality but the portions have become smaller and more expensive. And the beers 0.3 liters. for €3.30 or 0.5 for €5.50 is pretty expensive.

Wir waren heute zum ersten Mal im Brauhaus. Insgesamt waren wir mit 4 Personen. Der Service war super nett, dass Bier sehr lecker und das Essen war sehr gut. Ich hatte das Schnitzel mit Röstzwiebeln, Spiegelei und Bratkartoffeln. Es war sehr lecker. Bei mir war leider nur etwas Fett aus der Pfanne auf dem Teller gelandet, was die Panade vom Schnitzel löste. Daher einen Stern Abzug. Bei den andern dreien war alles Top!

After a bike ride we were in the beer garden there. Very nice service staff friendly and attentive. The plaice with shrimps and the Brauhaus Schnitzel were delicious. Waren mit einem befreundeten Pärchen im Brauhaus, der Kumpel kommt schon öfter her und wir waren auch sehr begeistert! Saßen sehr nett direkt in einem großen Bierfass, eine zackige junge Kellnerin hatte sich direkt aufmerksam um uns gekümmert! Das im Haus gebraute Bier war sehr lecker und süffig, das Essen traditionell zum Brauhaus sehr deftig und lecker! Vom Schmalzbrot als Gruß aus der Küche über die Haxe bis zur „Schippe Drägg“ , Schweinefilet serviert auf der Schaufel, waren die Gerichte frisch, lecker und sehr reichhaltig! Vielen Dank, wir kommen gern wieder!!

Simply iconic here. Great beer with a great beer garden. Inside, it has a rustic, cozy atmosphere that matches the brewery ambience. This time we were indoors for the celebration with a larger group. Everything was perfect here… great value for money, great service and special requests were taken into account.

Unfortunately we have to report the following about our visit on October 14th, 2022: As requested, I reserved the mussel dinner 14 days in advance - and in the presence of my loved ones - for that Friday evening at 5 p.m. I had the call on loud. We immediately noticed that the gentleman at the other end - it turned out that evening that he must have been the "boss" - was a bit sluggish. "One table, Friday at 5 p.m., 3 people, 2x2 kilos of mussels, because you have to order the amount in advance. However, the third person doesn't eat any mussels, he will choose something else on the menu." The gentleman repeated the order in a different order but correctly. End. What the supposed boss didn't mention on the phone and what isn't mentioned in the Facebook advertisement for the reservation: Anyone who orders the amount of mussels automatically gets "Rhenish style". Other varieties would have had to be ordered explicitly by telephone. For example, selecting “Spanish style” on site is not possible. Ok... Friday evening at 5 p.m., we enter the store and take a seat. Apparently 3x 2 kilo mussels were reserved in our name. OBLIGATION TO ACCEPT. Although both listeners were sitting at the table and insisted that the order really only consisted of 2x mussels, we only had the choice of leaving the restaurant or eating 3x2 kilos of mussels... The waiter made an effort and spoke to him again "Boss" in the kitchen, but there was no agreement in sight. Lt. According to the boss's philosophy, it would make more sense to throw away 6 kilos of mussels than to serve 4 kilos. As mentioned, we now had to decide on the Rhenish variety because we didn't explicitly request a different preparation on the phone. Didn't the boss tell us on the phone that 2x2 kilos automatically means Rhenish style... ok. We actually stayed because we don't appreciate waste, didn't want to let it ruin our evening and were really looking forward to some mussels. But the best is yet to come: After dinner, the boss himself usually comes to every table... which he did... just not to ours. None of us have experienced anything so disrespectful. The one star in our rating is for the waiter, who really tried very hard. The other star for the really good mussels (only 3 kilos per person was really too much!). However, due to the boss's behavior, we will no longer support the store (which we also did during lockdown, for example with motorhome dinners) and will permanently refrain from further visits and recommendations.

Finally a brewery that deserves the name. Great service, delicious drinks and also great food. I can only recommend
