Yes, definitely, the food and service were perfect. But not on foot. Google Maps shows 3.8 km from the campsite. In the end, it was 8 km... no signs, no internet, and no way to find the Waldschenke, very adventurous.

The Waldschenke is located in the heart of the forest near Stetten. The window seats in the dining room offer a fantastic view. From Wednesday to Friday, several daily specials are available at reasonable prices. The beer garden is self-service, and there's a playground for children. The staff is friendly, and there's a parking lot right next door.

A very nice forest tavern in a quiet location. In summer, there's a large self-service beer garden. Unlike in the past, there's now an extensive menu with a wide variety of dishes. Especially recommended for families, as there's no car traffic. A playground is right next to the beer garden. It's also easily accessible by car. Parking is available directly in front of the tavern.

A self-service restaurant nestled in the forest, with parking right in front, plenty of outdoor seating, and a menu with a wide selection. Regarding the food we ordered, all I can say is: Don't do anything differently!!! Crispy fries that aren't dripping with fat, a gravy to dunk in, and two decent schnitzels, nice and thin in crispy breading—not! from the deep fryer. The cheese spaetzle with delicious cheese and fried onions makes you think you're in the Allgäu. The salad dressing is also top-notch. Top! The wait for the food wasn't too long. We'll be back.

🚴‍♂️ Waldschänke Neuer Berg – E-bike stop with a flavor explosion! 🍽️ After a fantastic bike ride from Kirchhausen via Leingarten, along the Heuchelberg, past the Neipperg, and through the forest, I was feeling hungry after 23 km. Google Maps spit out the Waldschänke Neuer Berg – and what can I say? A direct hit! I rolled in comfortably on my e-bike and was immediately greeted in a friendly and attentive manner. Without even looking at the menu, I simply asked for a schnitzel with potato salad and gravy – and was served a veritable feast: two golden-brown schnitzels, perfectly cooked, with a creamy mushroom sauce in a glass jar, accompanied by homemade potato salad – simply fantastic! The portion was huge, almost filling the entire plate, but hey – challenge accepted and done! 💪 We also had a large still water, and it was really large: a whole bottle to refill – perfect for thirsty cyclists. The atmosphere was relaxed, the staff friendly, and the food really delivered. Afterwards, with renewed energy, we continued on towards Gemmingen, Schwaigern, Massenbachhausen, and back to Kirchhausen. On the way, we even saw a small plane at the airfield – simply a perfect day. 🌲🚴‍♀️ Conclusion: If you're cycling and want to eat really well, you should definitely stop here. The Waldschänke Neuer Berg is a real insider tip for hungry cyclists with good taste!

Great location, good value for money

We spontaneously stopped by for coffee one afternoon. The dining room is very nice and the terrace/beer garden is lovely – although unfortunately it's on the "wrong" side of the building, as the beautiful view is only available from the back. However, you can enjoy it from the dining room! The iced coffee was delicious, and the kitchens are also highly recommended!

We were here for lunch today, June 25, 2025. We got the tip from the Oberes Leintal campsite, which we also recommended. A fantastic forest tavern with fantastic, fresh food. Very friendly staff. There's something for everyone on the menu. It's also a great place for hot days, as there are lots of trees all around. Highly recommended, especially considering the prices.

The location in the forest makes it perfect, especially for children, with a lovely playground. We always enjoy going there when we're visiting relatives, and I have to say, the food is always excellent. The prices are also very fair.

Unfortunately, it was rather disappointing. The food was really good, and I couldn't fault the taste. What bothered me, however, was that you had to pay extra for everything. A side dish with the schnitzel costs extra, and they even charged €2 for a little gravy. In the end, I paid almost €30 for a turkey schnitzel with potatoes, gravy, a small mixed salad, and a sparkling water. You also have to pick up the food yourself outside. To be honest, I would have expected a bit more for that price. The value for money isn't right for me.

The view was phenomenal, but the service wasn't great. I can't rate the food, as we didn't get any until shortly after 8 p.m. on a Friday evening, even though the restaurant says food is served until 8:30 p.m. It's a shame; we won't be back. You have to get your own food and drinks. You also have to clear up the place yourself.

Recently, we actually only had a glass full of ice at the lead-free cocktail. Plus the syrup and everything else. Guys, have you ever tried mixing it all with a cardboard straw? We weren't the only ones that day who broke, dissolved, and destroyed the straw. Less, in this case the ice, is sometimes more.

At 3:02 PM (the time is important), I arrived after a 15 km hike and wanted to order the daily special. The waitress said it was only valid until 3:00 PM. After asking, I could order the meal at the regular price, which I politely declined. A 0.5-liter bottle of beer was 4.90. The location was good, but that didn't matter to me anymore. Short version: Food in advance was super tasty and came quickly. Unfortunately it is neither vegetarian nor vegan friendly. References to the errors were ignored. Explanation: I had the “vegan Swabian ravioli” which can be found in the “No desire for meat” category. Of the allergens, only gluten is listed. The dish came with "grated hard cheese" which, when asked, turned out to be Parmesan. This is therefore neither vegan nor vegetarian. I tried to politely point this out to the waitress, who unfortunately just mumbled something and went to the next table. Since I'm flexitarian and don't have any allergies, this wasn't a problem for me, but I would like to point this out to future guests. Additionally, my companion noticed that there was only one changing table in the female toilet.

A real insider tip with a wow effect! Yesterday we spontaneously went to Neuer Berg and were completely thrilled. The journey alone is worth it, because the view from up there is simply magnificent - a real feast for the eyes! The location itself exudes a charming, authentic character that we immediately liked. The food was consistently very tasty and exceeded our expectations. But what really made our visit special was the extremely friendly and attentive service. You really felt welcome. We would definitely like to come back and can only warmly recommend Neuer Berg! A great place for a spontaneous trip with fantastic views, delicious food and warm hospitality.
