Great food and first-class service.

The food was good, the price was OK. It was just a bit cold in the room.

We were a group of 16. The food arrived relatively early and almost everyone thought it was delicious. I had a feta schnitzel – one of the best schnitzels I've had in a long time. Very large, juicy, and with the sauce and feta cubes, it was something special. Unfortunately, the sweet kale and potatoes weren't made with sugar, but with a caramel sauce. That wasn't very well received.

Lots of quantity, but little quality and flavor; fish completely overcooked, huge portions that are overwhelming, expensive. Criticism is met with offense. The floor is very slippery from grease, the dining room is not clean, there are cobwebs in the chandeliers, and the atmosphere is uncomfortable and kitschy.

We came to the Waldschänke specifically to enjoy some delicious schnitzel. As a small appetizer, bread with lard was served. The lard was very generously portioned – a little less would perhaps be advisable to avoid unnecessary waste. The schnitzel options were pork and chicken, which was fantastic. We ordered the chicken schnitzel twice, and it was excellent. The mushroom sauce was perfectly seasoned, the fries were neither greasy nor soggy, and the fried potatoes were also very tasty. If there's anything to criticize, it would only be the portion sizes of the side dishes. A few more fried potatoes or fries would have been really nice. The ambiance suits the menu and is pleasant – you can have a normal conversation without having to shout. The service was attentive and courteous; a special request regarding the side salad was promptly accommodated. In conclusion: We will definitely be back. There are many good reasons for this. Oh, and parking is conveniently available in the back courtyard.

Delicious food, perfectly poured beer, good prices

We visited on the weekend of November 9th with three people. The waitress was very unfriendly, stressed, and made us feel unwelcome. It started with us only being allowed to order two portions of fried potatoes as a group of three, even though we had a reservation! When I asked if I could have the rest of my food packed up, I received a curt reply: "I can't promise! I don't know if there's any packaging material left." Overall, I felt quite uncomfortable there, as if I and my parents weren't welcome. We even left a €2.50 tip directly on the table and thanked her, but the waitress simply took the money with a roll of her eyes and walked away. It wasn't a pleasant experience, and it's still bothering me. The food itself was good and plentiful. Unfortunately, I can't say much more than that. It still saddens me to be treated and served like that, especially when I paid almost €30 for a schnitzel.

The food was absolutely delicious! The schnitzel with fries we ordered was extremely tasty, and the portion size was also excellent. Now, unfortunately, we come to the negative part of our visit to the restaurant. As previously mentioned in a review (which was subsequently deleted by the restaurant), when paying with a voucher, the remaining balance was not accepted. We were incorrectly told that it was not possible to issue a new voucher for the remaining amount. This statement is simply legally incorrect! We were only given the option of ordering something else from the menu or simply letting the remaining balance (a two-digit amount) expire. No other solution was offered. It's a shame, but this brought our visit to an unpleasant end.

We were at this restaurant today, just the two of us. The food was delicious and the portions were really generous. Now for the downside. We wanted to pay with a €60 voucher, but we only used about €45. The waitress then gave us a choice: either order something else for €15 or the remaining balance would be forfeited. Alternatively, she offered to pay the €45 today and use the voucher another time. Seriously? Where does something like that happen? We've never experienced anything like it. It's perfectly understandable that we won't get a refund. But surely it should be possible to issue us a new €15 voucher or change the existing one. I could have gone there alone today, and what would have happened then? Would €30 or something have simply been forfeited? How could I have possibly used €60 on my own? Sorry, but I'm not going to accept that. It's understandable that we wouldn't get a refund. Of course, I looked it up afterwards, and that's obviously not legal… but the lady unfortunately left us no other choice and wouldn't budge… so we were forced to each order an ice cream… we were actually already completely full because, as I said, the portions were really big. Half the ice cream ended up uneaten… a real shame, but "giving away" €15 was out of the question for us. We've never experienced anything like that in any other restaurant, and that's why we wouldn't go there again. It's a real pity, because the food was actually really good.

We were absolutely thrilled! The menu selection is huge – so many great dishes that we could hardly decide. The Schmalz to start with was a real highlight! 🍞 There's also a fantastic selection of specialty beers on tap (Tyskie, Budweiser, Pilsner Urquell, etc.), perfectly tapped and nice and chilled. My schnitzel was one of the best I've ever eaten – crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and perfectly seasoned. The portions are generous and the quality is consistently top-notch. The waiters were attentive, friendly, and took great care of us. The only thing is that the restrooms could use a little updating – but that doesn't detract from the overall great experience at all. We'll definitely be back – highly recommended! 🍽️

I can only recommend it!!! Great food (during kale weeks)!!! Everyone was friendly and very attentive. The prices are a bit higher, but you're willing to pay a bit more for something like this. Thank you for the wonderful stay. Even though I'm only in Kiel for a short time and the Waldschänke is quite far from the city center, I had to reserve another table immediately. Thank you.

The food is a 10/10, everything we had tasted way too good! The staff was also super friendly, but once the food arrives, you have to look around to order new drinks, etc.! I highly recommend the Polish dishes; really good Polish cuisine! We'll definitely be back when we're there!

I've been to the Waldschänke several times, but this time I was very disappointed. Unfortunately, the restaurant has deteriorated considerably: the prices have risen significantly, while the quality of the dishes has declined considerably. I was truly disappointed on my last visit. My schnitzel was extremely thin and consisted almost entirely of breadcrumbs. Yes, it was large, but the meat was barely noticeable. The second dish – beef roulade – cost a whopping €26, and the portion was tiny: just a small roulade. For that price, it's simply outrageous. It's a shame, the Waldschänke used to be a place where you could eat well and at fair prices. Now, unfortunately, it's become expensive and the quality is poor. I probably won't be coming back.

Our visit to the Waldschänke was very satisfactory; the portions were quite large and very tasty, the prices were reasonable, and the staff were friendly. The Oktoberfest promotion was very successful.

Parking is available behind the building. When it's really busy, it can get crowded quickly. The ambiance is rustic. We started with bread and lard, which was very tasty. The schnitzel, including all the side dishes, was very good, and the schnitzel was super tender. We had no complaints and will definitely be back.

From the street, it's rather inconspicuous how beautiful the shop is. I particularly liked the lovely beer garden. There's also a small playground. It's nice and quiet, you can enjoy food and drinks, and the prices are reasonable. The staff is exceptionally friendly! I'll be back.

The two of us were here in the restaurant today. The food was extremely convincing. I had a schnitzel Waldschänke and my partner had the asparagus with schnitzel. We can't complain :)! The service was great, the food was a very, very large portion and the ambience was simply intoxicating!!☺️

The service staff was very friendly. Unfortunately, the schnitzel was very tough - it just didn't taste fresh. For the price, I expected larger portions (that's what the restaurant is known for). The outside area looks very good, but we sat inside and it was just getting old. We have had better visits to this restaurant.

Nice atmosphere, which goes very well with the Waldschänke concept with home cooking. The homemade lard, served in advance, was the best I've eaten so far! Not an overly large menu, but a few Polish specialties and classic home cooking. The schnitzels are very large, super tasty and all at really fair prices! The ice cream for dessert consists of huge balls. The service was very nice and courteous and also made sure that drinks were still needed. Absolutely recommended!

The giant croquettes cost €17 and you won't get full at all. The price is outrageous for such a small portion. Plus there wasn't even ketchup. The waiter didn't ask us if it was tasty either, so we had to go to the counter for the ketchup, even though the shop was almost completely empty. The ketchup that came then was brazenly charged for. Absolutely disappointing visit.

We had only heard good things before and were really looking forward to our Christmas party with schnitzel buffet there. Unfortunately, the experience was very sobering. The schnitzels were a mini version of the usual ones they have there. The meat was quite tough and overly breaded. The chicken in paprika cream and the side dishes, however, were okay. What was not right was the fact that the buffet was apparently calculated with one small schnitzel per person, because because some people took two schnitzels, the rest went away empty-handed. A few schnitzels were then prepared later, but after a handful production stopped. The result: for the €32 we had previously paid (!), some of us ate a handful of fries, a few spoonfuls of vegetables and a mini schnitzel. If we hadn't paid in advance, I would have balked at the price. The drinks were also overpriced and the service tipped a plate into my lap while clearing away...of course without offering me a small gift in compensation. The restaurant may be worth a visit in everyday life, but it is absolutely not recommended as an event location.

The Waldschänke is a great restaurant right next to the Tannenberger Forest. They serve German and Polish cuisine, everything is very tasty and we recommend a large outdoor area that invites you to dream. If you want to stop there with several people, you should definitely make an appointment

After a nice walk in the Tannenberg animal enclosure, the Waldschänke is the ideal place for a little refreshment. Even dogs are welcome as they have a lovely covered terrace (smokers are also welcome here) and a cozy outdoor area. Everything very inviting. I can't rate the food because I only treated myself to a coffee after the walk. But maybe next time.

The waiter was very unpleasant, the cutlet was a centimeter thick and the breading was the same, and the fries served in a miniature bowl were a pleasure, over 17 euros. The bigos were tasteless and I don't recommend them.

Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of dining at Waldschänke with my friend and it was an experience that neither of us will soon forget. From the cozy atmosphere to the excellent cuisine – everything was perfect. A special thank you goes to the waiter Radomir, who is also the boss's brother. His commitment and kindness are remarkable. As soon as we entered the restaurant we were warmly greeted and immediately felt welcome. He took the time to walk us through the menu, made excellent recommendations and made sure we were completely comfortable. The service was not only professional, but also warm and personal. It was clearly noticeable that people are working here with heart and soul. The waiter was always attentive without being intrusive and really added to our dining experience. He even told us a little about the history of the restaurant and the passion of his sister, who is in charge of the culinary direction. This personal touch made the evening even more special. The meal itself was a delight! The Waldschänke offers a wonderful combination of Polish and German cuisine. Every dish was prepared with great attention to detail and the quality of the ingredients was outstanding. The selection of drinks, matching the traditional dishes, was also excellent and rounded off the culinary experience perfectly. All in all, our visit to the Waldschänke was a real stroke of luck. The combination of delicious Polish and German food, a welcoming atmosphere and service highlighted by the boss's charismatic brother makes this restaurant a must for anyone who values ​​an exceptional dining experience. My girlfriend and I can only warmly recommend the Waldschänke and are already looking forward to our next visit!

The reception was unfriendly, the staff harsh, the Calabrese salad consisted of a loveless tile presentation with 8 slices of an unripe tomato and mozzarella cut out of the ball. The mini touch of vinegar, which probably only had the name of balsamic, and the three basil leaves couldn't save the salad. A pity!

I've eaten there several times. Not happy with the schnitzels today. The breading and the schnitzel were very dry. The fries are rather chewy and not crispy. The pizza and the sour meat were delicious. When the waitress asked, our opinion was laughed at and not taken seriously. We felt forgotten. After the first drink, no requests for further drinks were asked. But we will come back and then stick to pizza because it is very tasty and plentiful

Meine Pizza war verschimmelt und es wurde sich nicht mal richtig entschuldigt.

Update vom 26.12.23 wir hatten uns sehr gefreut auf das Weihnachtsessen.Wir waren mit 7 Leuten da davon 6x Entenbrust, ja das war mal nix. Die Entenbrust war viel zu stark übergart wohl 2x erhitzt war trocken und schmeckte nicht besonders die Soße eines Weihnachtsessens nicht würdig der Rotkohl war dagegen gut und die Kroketten eben Kroketten.Schade das es nicht möglich scheint irgendwo Essen zu gehen da ist noch Luft nach oben.

Grünkohl mal anders, ansonsten sehr ansprechendes Restaurant.

Ich war vor fünf Jahren zu letzt da und sage: so lange Zeit wird bis zum nächsten Besuch nicht mehr vergehen! Wow! Alles hell und freundlich, die urige Stimmung trotzdem noch vorhanden und ich bin einfach nur positiv überrascht! Freundliche Bedienung, wir waren mit 11 Personen da und alle Teller waren randvoll und super appetitlich angerichtet. Eine Kinderkarte gibt’s auch! Lecker, qualitativ hochwertig und in einem top Preis- Leistungsverhältnis. Was will man mehr?

Wir essen seit Jahren regelmäßig hier. Sind auch immer begeistert gewesen. Leider wurden jetzt die Spaghetti von der Karte gestrichen, dass finde nicht nur ich sondern auch meine kleine Tochter sehr traurig. Wirklich schade.

Sehr schönes geschmackvoll eingerichtetes Restaurant mit nettem Personal. Den Punktabzug beim Essen gibt's eigendlich nur, weil die Kroketten vergessen wurden,die zwar nachgereicht wurden, nachdem ich schon fast mit dem Hirschragout essen fertig war. Das Essen an sich war sehr lecker.

Der Koch muss schlechte Laune gehabt haben, kalt und schlecht bis gar nicht gewürzt…

Schönes aber etwas in die Jahre gekommenes Restaurant. Essen war gut und reichlich und nicht überteuert, Sanitäranlagen sollten erneuert werden.

Sehr leckeres Essen von einer umfangreichen Karte. Es gibt diverse Fisch-, Pizza- Wild- Schnitzelgerichte. Ich kann erstmal Schnitzel empfehlen. Wir gehen bestimmt wieder hin. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Einrichtung ist gemütlich ohne altbacken u wirken.

Sehr gutes Personal und das Essen ist wunderbar

Essen wie bei Omi. Wir hatten den knusprigsten Krustenbraten seit Omi und die Rinderroulade ebenso - göttlich. Das Schmalz und die Brote als Gruß aus der Küche - traumhaft. Wenn es mal herzhaft deftig sein soll ist man hier goldrichtig. Freundlicher Service der im Laufe des Abends immer mehr auftaute. Äußerst angenehm empfanden wir, dass die Tische mit großen Abständen gestellt sind. Empfehlung!!!
