I've eaten here twice so far, and it was always excellent. The food was super delicious, and the owner is incredibly nice. I spontaneously went with a few friends to celebrate Diwali, and it was the best evening I've ever had at a restaurant in Kiel.

We were there with a large group for work. I had made a reservation in advance, and everything went smoothly. The restaurant was very cozy, and the waiters were very friendly. Even though there were so many of us, our orders were taken quickly, and the food arrived at the table at the same time. The food was truly delicious! Many of us, myself included, have been to India for work at least once or even several times, and we all agreed that this restaurant in Kiel was the closest thing we've ever had to authentic Indian cuisine. We'd all love to come back! Thank you for the lovely evening.

I ordered for delivery. The delivery took over 1.5 hours – that's way too long, with no apology or notice. The food was good. We found one dish very bland, the other was delicious. My new tenants are Indian, and a neighbor complained about the smells in the stairwell because they apparently cook Indian food. I can't imagine the strong smell there, given the dishes I've eaten. I've never been to India, so I can't judge whether the food here at Massala is authentic. The portion size is manageable for the price. Overall, it's okay.

The decor is tastefully cozy, as are the lighting and music. The owner usually stands behind the bar himself and runs this place with passion. A great experience and culinary delight every time – a good investment. Yes, I go there often and I enjoy it :)

I don't understand the rave reviews. Five of us were there at 7 p.m. in the middle of the week, and it was very busy. This meant that everything took a very long time, including the wait to order. We even waited over 30 minutes for poppadoms as a starter. The food is good, but not exceptional. I've often had much better Indian food. The service and ambiance are also okay, but here, too, I can't understand the euphoria of some of the reviews. Neither particularly attentive nor charming. All in all, it's a good place to go, but you're not really missing out on anything else.

The food is truly delicious, although our advertised "spicy" meal was a bit too bland for our taste, but that's certainly a matter of taste. We were lucky that we were able to snag a table outside without a reservation, as the restaurant was very busy an hour later. The food is highly recommended. The restaurant is also lovingly decorated, true to its origins. The staff was very friendly, although at times a bit inattentive. Our beer glass was empty while we were eating and was ignored. Even after the meal, no one came to clear the table or anything like that. After about 20 minutes, we went inside to pay. Therefore, you should allow yourself some time for your stay. Free parking is available on the side streets, although in some cases you may have to walk a bit. Nevertheless, we are very satisfied with our visit and will definitely return.

Four of us dined at Mazala in Kiel and overall had a very pleasant evening. The restaurant was completely booked that evening, which, on the one hand, speaks volumes about the quality and popularity of the place – but on the other, it unfortunately led to longer waits. We had to be patient until the food was served. The friendly and attentive service, however, more than made up for this. Despite the full house, the staff remained calm, polite, and helpful – which left a very positive impression. The meal itself was absolutely convincing: We had various meat dishes, all freshly prepared, well-seasoned, and very tasty. The butter chicken deserves special mention – tender meat in a wonderfully creamy sauce. The side dishes, such as naan bread and rice, were also perfect. The decor is tasteful and modern, yet still retains a subtle traditional flair. You immediately feel at home, and the atmosphere invites you to linger. Conclusion: If you're looking for good Indian food in Kiel and can tolerate a bit of a wait, Mazala is a great place to go. We'd love to come back!

Unfortunately, it's hostile to queers, even though the food is really delicious! My wife and I stood in the entrance, and the guests behind us were greeted and invited in. It seemed strange to us. When we still hadn't received our food after an hour, and other tables whose guests had ordered after us had already received theirs, we just wanted to pay for our drinks and leave. Suddenly, it was possible for our food to arrive within about two minutes. Sure, the restaurant was very busy, but it was clearly noticeable that two queer women weren't served the same as the other guests. It's a shame, because the food was really good, and so were the lemonade and lassi.

One of the worst chicken biryani I had in recent times. Over spiced with no taste and the chicken pieces taste like leftover. Had to through away the meal. Edit: Editing after owner's comment. Your biriyani can be best selling dishes when eating at your restaurants. But when ordering trough Wolt this is the product I got. If you look carefully you will see the chicken pieces in the rice. Furthermore this is not the first time you got this review. There is another review of wolt order from another person who ordered lamb biriyani and got similar bad quality product. That review also people can see. So this is not one incident.

Finally, some good Indian food in Kiel! The food tastes truly authentic. Even though half of Kiel is currently flocking to Mazala, the staff is cheerful, attentive, and courteous. We'll always be happy to come back! 😍

The most delicious Indian food I've ever eaten. We didn't have a reservation, and the restaurant was packed (on a Tuesday), but we still managed to get a table. The waiters were very friendly and attentive, but the organization was a bit lacking. We had to wait over half an hour before we could finally pay. The restaurant owner is incredibly friendly, and the food, as I said, is simply insanely delicious. We'd love to come back!

We've been there three times already, today with a larger group, as we were actually quite impressed with the restaurant. Today we booked a table for 8 people, which was very cramped, not to mention very warm and uncomfortable. Even the waiters had trouble getting to the tables. After 45 minutes, we still hadn't received any food. When we asked why it was taking so long, there was no answer. The taste also seemed very unloving and far from the Mazala we've experienced before. They also didn't ask us how spicy we wanted our food. What a shame!! It was also very noticeable that many guests received their dishes early even though they had ordered after us. Only the aforementioned request changed things! It's a real shame, especially given the positive coverage in the KN. For us, this was definitely our last visit!

Great if you want authentic Indian food. The butter chicken, like other dishes, is a dream! Unfortunately, the restrooms are not very clean, and the toilets are very dated, inherited from the previous owner. It should be renovated, as some things are no longer "nice/clean" after all these years. Hence, one star deduction.

I recently had lunch at Mazala and was really pleasantly surprised - there is now a lunch menu starting at €9.90, which is really great for the quality. I had the Thali where you get three different dishes with rice and papad. Super tasty, well seasoned and just right for your lunch break. The location is also practical, very close to the train station - perfect if you're traveling around the city or want to eat something quick during your break. Friendly service and fair prices – I’ll definitely be back!
